- Here's a bit of fun, and a musical challenge to try out, with these triple-fingered (3-2-1) repeating notes as I play "The Comedians' Dance" (Gallop) by Russian composer Dimitri Kabalevsky, on my little Orla RS600.
You could try playing reiterating notes with just one finger, but it is almost impossible to maintain the speed, and the rhythm... and it really hurts your wrist.
So using the three fingers, is the best way to repeat a note at speed.
Hope you enjoy this strange little piece, and I wish you a weekend of - Happy Music !!
Keep smiling - Peter H.
Hi Peter, I have my 69th birthday next Sunday 14th , but that said , you have just transported me back many years and into short trousers !
The amazing thing with music is how it holds and unlocks memories which you have the magic of doing. I have been following you over the years and miss your organ concerts and Cavalcades etc but I do hope you are enjoying your retirement after many years of hard work.
I too play Organ and have the Orla Grande Theatre. I also have Yamaha and Roland keyboards as I play in a Sixties band, that is when covid
Is not around and enjoy the music so much. I was not able to do so for many years as I was a long distance truck driver and couldn't make the commitment. Now I can enjoy my retirement with four other musical relics which is great.
Peter it must be said that your outstanding abilities and talent still shine through and in particular you still manage to share this with the rest of the world and give so much pleasure even to other musicians and that is a testimony in its own right.
Keep doing what you do Peter and I'll certainly look forward to receiving some more of you musical joy and the memories too.
Keep well and safe.
Very best wishes
Colin Hammond ( Hammond by name & Hammond by nature ) Lol 🎹 🎤👍
Hello Colin, Thank you very much for your kind message and so pleased to have transported you back to the happy days of "short trousers" - although now retired, I still spend much of my time wandering around in "shorts" - as they are very comfortable... especially having moved to Spain. They would NOT have been so appropriate in Sweden... especially at this time of year ! - At least over here, it is just beginning to warm up a bit.
I too miss not being able to come over to the UK to perform concerts any more : although TH-cam is a great platform on which to continue to share my music. So thanks you for listening to my online efforts. I shall continue to add new tips/ideas/concert tunes as and when I get the "recording urge".
I wish you every enjoyment in your retirement, surrounded by music and musical instruments. It helps to keep us all "sane" (-ish?) during these annoying lockdown times.
Anyway, it is good to hear from you and good to know that you are still enjoying my music.
Take care of yourself, and stay healthy & happy.
All my best wishes, Peter Hayward.
I have heard this tune many times, especially in the fifties but never seen it performed to be able to appreciate the complexity and dexterity needed to achieve it. Definitely fits the category of 'happy music' and the graphics added a lovely element. Many thanks - Geoff
Hi Geoff, Hope you enjoyed this bit of musical fun. Thanks very much for watching. Cheers - Peter :)
Comedian's gallop brings me back to the 1981 Electone festival where I performed this on a Yamaha D85- Gosh 43 years has gone quickly!
Wow, what a talent you have.
Thank you for sharing your fascinating skill.
Thank you very much!
Great Peter, many thanks Keith
Thanks very much for listening to this one, Keith. Hope you are keeping well and happy. Kind regards - Peter :)
Hi Peter, a lucky/funny performance ( don't know this song before 🤷♂️ ) and an "important clip" in this terrible and difficult time 😉. Hope you and your wife are healthy and you enjoy the warmly weather there in spain. Here in north germany it is again cold, but we hope ( and need ) spring is coming. Best wishes for you and Kathy 🙋♂️🎹🎼🎵🍀🐶 Dietmar 🇩🇪
Hello Dietmar, Thanks for listening, and for your kind messages which are always appreciated. Here too, it has been cold and rainy... but today the sun has returned, so we hope the weather stays a little better. We are both well thanks, and hope you are too.
With all best wishes - Peter & Kathy :)
Hi Peter, what a great little tune, very nimble fingers required to play it. Hope you and Kathy are keeping well. All the best to you both. Alan.
Hi Alan, Thanks for watching this one. I thought it may provide a bit of interest for the players out there. The music is fairly easily obtained (free !!) on line, by typing in "Comedians Dance" (or Gallop) "sheet music" and clicking on images to find the best version available.
Hope you too are keeping well, Alan. We are fine here thanks, and looking forward to being able to travel again to see family & friends. Take care. Cheers - Peter & Kathy :)
Grandpa Pete: marvelous sounds from that little organ, and your talent makes it all happen... how are you? I've been under the weather for a bit, but now I'm bouncing back to life. My best to your family and to you, my dear friend. Keep the tunes coming, especially on the organ. Not many of us left, sorry to say. Thanks.....
Hello Mike,
Thanks for your friendly message. Great to hear from you my friend. Sorry do hear you've been a bit down, but glad to hear you're "bouncing back" - long may you do so,, and keep that wonderful "live" music coming. Stay well and happy, and all the best to you and your family.
Take car my friend. Cheers, from Pete & Kathy :)
Hey... Easter soon, I feel an "Easter Parade" coming on... or something about chickens? - Keep smiling :)
Now this has me puzzled. I know the tune from way back but not the title. I was expecting Smetana’s Dance of the Comedians. Is it really called Comedians Dance? Another very entertaining performance anyway, Peter. Geoff R.
Hello Geoff, I thought it was "Dance" - but having recorded it and put the film together, I found out that the actual title is "Comedians' Gallop" - hope you enjoyed it anyway. The fingering trick is fun to do, and I felt the players amongst us might like to have a go at this technique. The music is quite easily obtainable online.
Thanks for listening, and for your kind comment. Best wishes - Peter :)
