There is no need to go alll the way to the 0317 to get into the PXG line. They are only slightly more than the Kirklands, but you can get custom fit easily and choose your setup. I, for example have absolutely no use for a 4 iron (honestly I and many others could pass on the 5 also in favor of easier to hit high lofted woods) but love the GW in the 0211 line. At "Let's Play Through" he said the Malby TS1 IM irons are better and cheaper than Kirkland. Can also blend your set with the TS1 irons. IM's go for $465.
Are you still able to buy these irons? I can’t seem to find them since the lawsuit. I don’t know if they just sell out fast or they stopped selling them temporarily
Why has Taylormade not sued other direct to consumer companies? There are plenty of them that came out with clubs looking like the P790's well before Costco released a full set. Is it because Costco is a much larger company, therefore more money to get?
What would I buy...the Takomo 101 irons. All over again. I've been an enormous fan of these irons since I've gamed them last year. I played my personal best last season with them. Can't wait to get on with these again this year. No contest.
The only brand I’ve ever felt a noticeable difference in striking was Adams Golf. The TaylorMade Stealth was a cool innovation but nowhere near what Adam’s Golf did with their irons and woods. Give me the Kirklands please. I love what Costco is doing.
If I could afford them, I'd go with the PXGs for the availability of the fitting. If my swing hadn't stabilized yet, I'd save the difference and go with the Kirklands.
It’s very hard after you get fitted for irons..Taylor made makes you wait for now over 10 weeks.. that a huge problem when you pay over $1300 for QI HL .. if I could buy Costco irons I would buy them and play the next day!
Can you do a review of the MacGregor MT-86 OS and/or MT-86 Pro irons? They do DTC full clubs or just heads. They also do an OS/Pro combo. The MT-86 OS's received a Silver rating by Golf Digest in their annual club review 2023. Love your channel! Watch every morning! Thank you, Saverio
Don’t believe me look at the 0211 Xcor2 irons, on sale for $99 each club, but being a veteran you get them for $79 each club. No one shared this with me and I’m spreading the word. The new black ops driver is $600 but as a veteran you can get it for $450. If you’re not a veteran, get a buddy that is to sign up and see if they will let you use their account.
PXG is honestly the best value in Golf if you’re a vet or first responder. You get deals on everything in the store not just the clubs. It’s kind of awesome.
I could easily game either brand mate and after a few rounds and you have got used to the feel, sound, looks and performance you won’t think twice just as long as you’re enjoying yourself playing golf
I would love a set of the PXGs but would never spend that much money. I would be much more likely to buy the Kirkland, purely on price. No competition as far as bag appeal goes. The PXGs are gorgeous.
At that price difference I'd definitely go for the Kirkland and spend the rest on lessons. However frankly I'd probably buy something inbetween such as the Takomo and have fewer lessons.
PXG'S are about $1700 Canadian 4-PW plus tax for just under $1950. Kirkland irons not yet available in Canada. Would have to drive to the USA and pay USD. $500 US would be about $650 CDN.
I got the PXG xcor2's 6-9+LW,SW,GW and PW, 8 clubs in all, custom fit by PXG for just £552 with heroes discount program, but that's with 1 club more than the costco set. Take that club away and it's £483 and now cheaper than costco. As a price battle of lowest v highest then your vid is about right but you should really be putting the xcor2 against the kirklands. PXG are the better club and a similar price point with custom fit. Cheaper if you factor in PXG'S Heroes Program. Signed New PXG fan boy lol
I’ve seen more bad golfers with nice clubs than the opposite. I find that the better player especially at the amateur level, has been playing a specific set of irons for years. Most changes I see are in the wedges and or woods.
Kirkland wedges are available in their stores. All these direct to consumer brands are great for 90% of golfers. The percentages of players that shoot in the 70's and under are very very low. Those are the players who may want to spend the big bucks for a set of expensive clubs, not high handicappers that play 10 rounds a year.
Golf 2024 is too expensive? Yes BUT. I played my 1st round of golf in 1978. My local municipal golf club charged £5 for a round. Today they charge £18. My golf balls cost about £2.80 for 3 i think....a similar ball today (because it was a good ball back then but not now) would be £5ish. New clubs....well for a start you had to go find somewhere that was selling clubs (my 3 local courses didn't sell clubs (persimmon back then) you could buy them in your mum's catalogue (i got my 1st set there i needed to because I'm a lefty so i couldn't use my mates. I think a 1-3-5 woods 3 iron to SW set cost me about £300. My wage back then? £42 a week.(I was very young pay was often less for younger staff). Golf probably not that bad in cost today then. For comparison my top flight football team used to charge me 50 pence for the boys pen or about £2 a ticket. Now less just say it costs a lot more in the premier league.
I think what we need is review of similarly priced clubs. I’m guessing the biggest market for Kirkland clubs is the same people that will buy budget clubs, not premium.
If you are a scratch golfer, you probably won’t see a massive difference. The thing is that someone who would play enough golf to be good at it would probably have no problem spending the money on nicer clubs. I’d be curious to see how these clubs would play for a mid to high handicapper who might benefit from the better engineering on the pricier clubs.
Probably going to ruffle a few feathers, but here goes. I play a set of 2016 Callaway Cf-16s 4i- gap wedge. I paid a total of around 350$ for them 4 years ago. I guarantee that they play just as well as any new club on the market. Pay what you want for shiny new, but it ain't going to improve your game! Spent your money on lessons and golf balls! And Kirkland signature balls are a good option!
Wishon Golf I believe made hollow body irons before anyone else. That would include Taylormade. In fact Wishon Golf still make hollow body irons. I'm about to purchase a set. We have to wonder if Taylormade is waging "Law-fare" against Costco just to reduce competition. Kirkland irons do cause a large amount of disruption in the golf iron market. So that question is on my mind. No one wants to litigate Tom Wishon. He has designed and built more golf irons than anyone in history and is a true master engineer.
I use the gloves and occasionally use the balls. They are brilliant value. I just couldn't put the irons (or their wedges)in the bag. Why they insist on stamping KS right across them and don't create a brand I don't know. I'll stick with my P790's.
Apart from the fact you can't buy the Kirkland irons new in the UK today. How about testing the new Benross clubs which you can get hold of, and get them fitted as well.....😉👍
If you want a decent set of irons I’m selling my little used set 4-PW TaylorMade P790s with graphite F3 (RH). I’ve had to move to senior shafts after major heart op and prostate cancer. All good now, but lost 20% of clubhead speed. They are. BARGAIN AT £485.
Like you say James, let’s buy Kirkland and go on a golfing break with the savings. Unless you have a bottomless pit of money it makes more sense to buy budget, as you say there’s not many bad clubs out there 👍🏻
I really like the fitting experience and confidence you get from PXG. I'm convinced PXG product quality is a very high standard, where something like Kirkland doesn't really measure up.
It’s like two equally performing cars. One has small wheels with plastic hubcaps, an ugly paint job, stereo that sounds like a 1970s transistor radio with a broken antennae. The other has carbon fiber accents, large alloy wheels, plush leather interior with a 15 speaker, 1500 watt Bose sound system. They both do 0-60 in 4 seconds, get 38 mpg, and are covered bumper to bumper for 60k miles, but damn, I’d rather have option two for the extra $15k. Live within your means I suppose.
The TaylorMade lawsuit is going to have what we in the States call the "Streisand Effect". It will bring more (and favorable for CostCo) attention to a problem TaylorMade would like to g away, much as Barbara Streisand's lawsuit to suppress publicly obtained photographs of a property she owns on the California coast. Her lawsuit created huge interest and the exposure of her property went almost universal in the US. For CostCo, any advertisement is good for the brand, especially when it is provided by a competitor.
With cost and value, you have to consider residual value when you are done with them. Kirkland value will drop like a stone, mind you so do PXG as they are overpriced at purchase, and they change models so often. Also PXG make the ugliest clubs on the planet, too busy; i have tried them and had a fitting, didn’t really find them for me. All that being said, i watch the video with interest, but wouldn’t buy either. Kirkland against Caley, Takomo or Sub70 would be a better comparison, and the price points are not that different, residual values are. Also suggest you try the Krank drivers as used by Bryson, only $550 new and with a $150 introduction reduction so circa $400 which is a great price. They claim to bespoke each driver to the individual order, as they match build materials to swing speed, bespoke face thickness which makes sense. They also say roll and bulge is flattened by use, and players that swing over 100 flatten the face in under 20 shots?
To be honest, golfers who buy brand new clubs and can't even hit the ball probably - what's the point in paying over £1000 for irons? Is it for the aesthetic? I went to play a round with my uncle a couple of years ago and we were waiting at the opening tee for a guy to tee off. He had a fancy tour bag and some shiny Callaway brand spanking new irons. His practice swings looked awful and he was obviously a novice. I said to my uncle that his clubs looked great, he responded with he may have nice clubs but let's see if he can play. He teed off with a 30 yard shank, didn't even pick up his tee, wheeled off with his tour bag of clubs to hit his 2nd. My point is, your average golfer is going to play average and buying clubs worth £100s or £1000s isn't worth it, especially if you can't hit the ball consistently or apply course management to their game. If you want new clubs, just go to the direct to consumer - cheaper and quality. Unless of course you're playing twice a week and have a single digit handicap
I generally buy last year's run out models, far cheaper than the overpriced current years products. I honestly think the industry is stagnating, year on year equipment improvements are negligible.
@@JoeSchwa well how come all the big oem don’t sue those “magic drivers you swing like a 7i but go further and straighter than a real driver” for false advertising?
Go for an iron fitting, then look in 2nd hand market for a set with your specs, ping are good for this with the dot system, same with the rest of the bag. To me being fit is the key. But lets be honest you could probably get the the Kirklands re shafted and still have enough left over for a set of wedges and some balls 😂😂
I told a friend to do this. We have a small but great shop that does free fittings. He is a 22 yo with limited funds so I told him to tell them which used clubs would be good. Then go to them when he has more to spend.
Kircklands look better to me .............. but I like a bladed iron look. .... however the top line........... they look awful, way too thick. Hollow body irons don't intrest me tho, I like the fact my clubs tell me when I've hit it wrong or thing like a blade that makes your fingers sting). I learned using blades and can't hit these kind of golf clubs, I still even use a 275cc driver, irons are mac gregors mb1025's
James, you can buy that feeling after all. 1700.00+ for the PXG with a logo as big as the Kirk's. That cost does not include the cost of woods, wedges , putter and balls. For the average golfers that is both unnecessary and likely a waste of pounds or dollars. Like everything else in life, find the best value for the task at hand. Most major brands sell their "out of date" clubs at deep discounts and the D2C brands are an excellent choice. I am a fan of your channel and content, but you've flogged this subject long enough.
Remember when PXG first came out as premium never discounted brand? They were no qualms expensive but now are often on sale and basically the same price as the major brands. Those PXGs are pug-fugley compared to Costco irons. If you think PXG is good looking with all those fake screws you may be a tradesman. The problem is you can’t get over the Kirkland name on it.
Surely you've done more than 10 Costco videos out of the 2000 ...I'm calling BS 😂 EDIT: 14 videos in the last 3 months, not to mention previous years/generations 😂

I still have my KS1 putter! Not leaving my collection any time soon
Got a brand new set of the cobra mims irons last summer. 600 dolllars with lamkin grips and kbs c taper shafts. They are very good and look great! Just buy a set from a year or two ago and try and play as much as you can.
For beginners, high handicappers it's a good buy!
Love the vid, Bobby's doing a great job.
I’ve got the pxg 317t clubs. Got a great deal as ex law enforcement. Im a 7 handicap up to 12 on some days, never hit a better feeling, looking, performing club. I look forward to hitting them. Just love using them.
For a moment, I thought you were gonna bust out an Army of Darkness joke with “shop smart, shop S-Mart”, lol
Love your thoughts for sure, but you can not get the Kirklands. PXG does have the o211s. Anyway, I buy used when I can find a set I like. Good show.
At "Let's Play Through" he said the Malby TS1 IM irons are better and cheaper than Kirkland. Can also blend your set with the TS1 irons. IM's go for $465.
I went in between and got the pxg 0211 xcor2 irons one season used but in perfect shape for $600 CAD. I’d take those over either all day long.
I’d like to see the Kirkland vs the takomo irons
Are you still able to buy these irons? I can’t seem to find them since the lawsuit. I don’t know if they just sell out fast or they stopped selling them temporarily
Can't even find kirkland driver irons or wedges anymore on there site. Taylor Made seemed to have stopped that.
I saw drivers for sale at my Costco
The driver is back in stock on thier website as of Friday 5/10. Just ordered one.
Why has Taylormade not sued other direct to consumer companies? There are plenty of them that came out with clubs looking like the P790's well before Costco released a full set. Is it because Costco is a much larger company, therefore more money to get?
IF...we ever get to see them in stores again.
Right? We see all these comparisons, but they don't tell how/where they get them.
as a matter of interest what were the differences in loft between, for example the two 7 irons?
PXG 7 iron: 32°
Kirkland 7 iron: 31º
Love the Kirkland content. I can’t hit those irons, but I still love the content.
I went down the middle and bought used 2021 P790s 🤷♂️
I absolutely loving the look of the PXG clubs but sadly the only way I could afford a set, it would have to be 2nd hand.
The pxg 0317ts are the best irons I've ever played. Don't mind the price for the feel and forgiveness that they provide!
Where do you buy them in the UK though. They are not on the Costco site?
They are now
I would love a set of the PXGs but would never spend that much money.
I payed a bundle for t 350s last fall well before the kirkland rollout. I think i would've gone kirkland had I know they were coming simply on price
When are we getting the Kirkland irons in the UK?
Those pxg look very similar to my 2011 TM MC tour preferred same shape medallion center weight
I play the Caley O1T irons. They are cheap, great looking and perform very well. I don't see the need to spend big money on a big brand anymore.
Buy used or clearance. Clubs that are a few years old sell for $300-400 just have to keep an eye out
Probably going to ruffle a few feathers, but here goes.
Are these actually on sale in the UK as my local store say’s they don’t know if they will be sold in the UK ?
That is some warmup.I will do that now.
So from what I see here save yourself a 1000plus quid and get the Kirkland irons (once they come back in stock)
Apart from the fact you can't buy the Kirkland irons new in the UK today.
How about testing the new Benross clubs which you can get hold of, and get them fitted as well.....😉👍
Satin finish on the PXG looks better to me, though that aside for the average golfer it’d have to be Kirkland
I've been to Costco quite a few times. I have never seen the wedges, irons, putter or driver.
Unless you have a bottomless pit of money it makes more sense to buy budget, as you say there’s not many bad clubs out there 👍🏻
I'm planning on getting the Takomo 101t's for my next set.
It doesn't matter how good these may be if they're always sold out.
I prefer the looks of the Caley and the price of both the Caley and Takomo
I would like you to show dispersion comparisons for different clubs.
I really like the fitting experience and confidence you get from PXG. I'm convinced PXG product quality is a very high standard, where something like Kirkland doesn't really measure up.
That PXG iron at the beginning looked banged up like a cheap hooker...
Only problem I have…..can’t get Kirkland irons or driver in Canada
The TaylorMade lawsuit is going to have what we in the States call the "Streisand Effect". It will bring more (and favorable for CostCo) attention to a problem TaylorMade would like to g away, much as Barbara Streisand's lawsuit to suppress publicly obtained photographs of a property she owns on the California coast. Her lawsuit created huge interest and the exposure of her property went almost universal in the US.
For CostCo, any advertisement is good for the brand, especially when it is provided by a competitor.
What kind of shoes are those? They look sweet!
Bought a set of Takomo 201's
Where can you buy the Kirkland clubs? No listing on the Canadian Costco site. P
Not for sale while court case is pending.
@@CharlieG0lfis the court case both in Canada and the United States ?
What about Decathlon? Do you have it in the UK?
They have their own Brand and Golf Clubs. Could you try them? Greetings from berlin
For the price Kirkland have nailed it, I wish they were a brushed metal finish instead of a shiny finish.
OK, James... just where the hell do we get them? NLA
Well said James
If I had to chose between these two clubs, I'd chose the PXG on looks alone.
I generally buy last year's run out models, far cheaper than the overpriced current years products. I honestly think the industry is stagnating, year on year equipment improvements are negligible.
I personally don’t like the looks of the PXG. The back looks like some kind of mechanical device.
It’s funny pxg sued Taylormade over the p790 when they first came out. Then Taylormade sued Kirkland over the p790
The PXG lawsuit failed cause taylormade actually came out with the “speed foam” first back in the 90’s in one of the burner irons.
@@1mtis from what I heard they came to some kind of mutual agreement. Kind of eluded to taylormade giving up some R and d. If I remember right.
@@JoeSchwa well how come all the big oem don’t sue those “magic drivers you swing like a 7i but go further and straighter than a real driver” for false advertising?
@@JoeSchwa so taylormade didn’t bring up the p790 other product in the lawsuit
Go for an iron fitting, then look in 2nd hand market for a set with your specs, ping are good for this with the dot system, same with the rest of the bag.
To me being fit is the key. But lets be honest you could probably get the the Kirklands re shafted and still have enough left over for a set of wedges and some balls 😂😂
I told a friend to do this. We have a small but great shop that does free fittings. He is a 22 yo with limited funds so I told him to tell them which used clubs would be good. Then go to them when he has more to spend.
I want those kirkland. But my Costco wont carry them till after the lawsuit.😢 For $500 usd I can't even find worn out p790.
If I had the money PXG as I don't, it would definitely be the Kirkland.
Brilliant video
Surely you've done more than 10 Costco videos out of the 2000 ...I'm calling BS 😂
EDIT: 14 videos in the last 3 months, not to mention previous years/generations 😂
