James, I am a mid-handicapper and play the Kirkland as my gamer (TM Tour Response when I want to splurge). Testing the V2 and V3 on the course and with my Bushnell Launch Pro in the sim, I notice a slight drop in spin rates. The V3 also feels just slightly more firm, but still has a great feel. I am getting more run out with my driver and plenty of stopping power on the greens. It seems to be a perfect compliment for my game and a small, but welcomed, improvement over the V2. I have played about 15 rounds with the V3 to date. Thanks for the reviews and content!
I’ve also been playing the KSv3 this season and, while I haven’t done as deep comparison, I personally have noticed about 3-5 yards gain in distance and a much more controllable feel with the v3’s vs the v2’s. I’m also a mid-handicap who likes to play Bridgestone Tour B RX when I want to splurge.
I tried the Tour Response and lost 30 yards on drive compared to Pro-V1x. I found out with my swing speed with driver ~100 mph the Tour Response is not the correct choice for me. Pro-V1x is a bit firm for me, but until I find a ball I can use which I can benefit on greens and off tee I'm sorta stuck...
I always love the Kirkland content. I do play the Kirkland ball and love. The feature I love the most, is the ability to buy more rounds after a match. 😜
I have been using the new version of the Kirkland ball for 2 months now. I am a 8.8 handicap and play 6 rounds a week. Love the ball it flies well of the tee and the response off the irons is very good. Ball spins well and has good feel off the putter. The biggest thing I have noticed is they seemed to have improved the cover durability. With the V2 I had a hard time getting more than 2 rounds before it was scuffed to the point where it was unplayable. The V3 I can regularly play the same ball for 3 or 4 rounds and it is still usable. Love playing against a ball snob who makes a joke about me not playing a premium ball and beating them and asking if they want to try a Kirkland.
100% agree! I'm a 9handicap and also been loving the Kirkland V3s. The V2s would scuff anytime I hit it with a sand or lob wedge, but the V3 cover would last me more than 2 rounds without any splintering scuffs
I've heard this. I've played the V2s and they do scuff easily. I'm from Canada so I haven't been able to compare, but I just brought a box back from the US, so we will see.
I’ve played both. V3 scuffs less but performs almost identically in all other aspects. When struck equally flush with driver or irons, V3 is more predictable and slightly longer. I’m guessing that’s because of slightly better (less) spin off driver and longer irons. Still the best value, semi-premium golf ball available.
I bought two boxes, 4 dozen, when they marked them down to $19.98 a box. I have a few year supply of the V2, so when they run out I'll be switching to the V3. No rush for this high handicapper.
8:57 Appreciate this is a golf ball review and a good one at that but is no one talking about James's bunker shots? Consistently excellent!! Doffing my hat to you Sir.
Thanks for the presentation on the lower cost Kirkland Golf balls versus the premium (Pro Vs, Callaways) golf balls. The difference is price per dozen allows one to buy a beer from the cart ladies! Personally, I will keep buying the ProVs and skip the on course beers.
I really enjoyed the feel of the Kirkland Signature. Short game, off the tee, I could live with it. For whatever reason - with mid to long irons...I was losing a club length with them (compared to the ProV1). Just my experience...but do love what Kirkland is doing here.
@@connorwagstaff2348 I stopped playing Kirkland balls, too much spin so lose 10 - 15 yards, I generally play the Tour Response now so I can save a few bucks over the TP5 and notice no difference

I live in the States and have been using the new Kirkland balls for several weeks now. I can't tell the difference between the old and new other than my drives might be I bit longer, but I like the Kirkland balls and will keep playing them. I do have PV1's and I really can't tell the difference.
Costco balls consistently fly 10 yards short of Pro V1 for my irons. I play traditional lofted 718 AP2 Titleist forged irons, and naturally I fade the ball about 5 yards. I also notice putts coming up very noticeably short when using Kirkland when compared to Pro V1. Overall, this golf ball is a great entry level option for feel, but does not compete in my opinion with PRO V1, that's just my .02c as a single digit handicap.
IMHO, the ProV1 outperforms any ball. They are certainly longer than any ball I’ve played. But since I’m not spending $60 a box, I have to rely on found balls.
My kids used to get me a dozen ProV1 for Christmas. Two years ago they got me four dozen Kirkland balls and $5. I started playing them and now that’s all I play. I am a 8.8 handicap and play 6 times a week and yes they maybe a little shorter but I just went up a club.
@@richardtoms9161 that's fair! If you can get used to the length then go for it, as a pro v player of over 10 years, I genuinely can barely play them. All my yardages are off by like 5-10 yards haha
I'm a budget golfer, I never buy golf balls, instead I spent £12 on a powerful on sale UV torch. I play a round of golf then as it gets dark walk a couple of holes looking for balls. This usually nets me between 30-50 of the balls you guys lose. Thanks for that. I find so many balls I can have different balls for different courses. For example Pro v1's and cromesofts and other premium balls I use on wide open course where I'm less likely to lose any ( I'm 20 ish handicapper ). Kirkland are second tier balls in my mind and are used for tighter courses ect. I would happily game Kirklands if I was paying for my balls but find so many premium ball's I can kinda be a snob about it and play more premium balls. Overall though I would happily recommend the Kirklands.
I played a sleeve of Kirkland balls today and shot my lowest 9 ever at 2 over. 3 bodies, 5 pars, and one birdie! I even generated back spin on the greens where I never done before. They were given to me and now am going to get a couple of dozen. Thanks for the review!
I have a local guy that resells refurbished, golf clubs and balls, and in all honesty I’m getting TP5s with zero visible wear for $5-$10 a dozen. Pro V1s and V1x for the same price. Two dozen for $10 with slight damage. There are tons of people who do this as well so spending $$$$ on balls is kinda wild unless you’re playing at a high level. There are some companies that sell refurbished balls at local sports stores or Amazon for more $ but still are fractionally cheaper
That is a great deal for sure and I'd buy a ton of those. Most places I've seen are selling those for $30/dozen. I'm not interested in spending $30 for used balls.
James, Not sure if it has been updated recently but there was a lawsuit filed against Costco for the balls and the language used to describe them. I believe the new version is just a visual change to conform. Here in the states I can get a box of 24 for $25 USD. They play well enough and I save a lot compared to the normal 12 pack for $25 USD. Thank you for taking the time to test and share.
I have been using the version 2's since I still have a box and they really perform well and stopping power is amazing! Distance-wise, they are shorter than the ProV1X but not really that much. I like the feel on iron shots and short game. It absolutely feels good on the putter too. Haven't bought the version 3 though.
Last time I was in Costco (Australia) the new ones in the black box were a couple of bucks cheaper than the older version. Yes, of course I bought the new ones!! 👍👍
Recently watched a video about the new Kirkland driver and irons. It was mentioned that yellow balls will also be released. I hope those rumors are true.
I use these bulls regularly because I'm not very good and I like the price. Not good enough to know the difference between balls but my chipping and putting feels good with them.
I have played the Kirklands for a few years now. (I am here in the States) and recently got the V3 ball. I don't notice any difference on full shots...where I THINK I notice the difference is 80 yards and in pitch shots and around the greens chipping. It SEEMS I can get a bit more spin/check on them around the greens. Could just be me but that is the only difference I can see.
Well I didn’t know there was an old and new Kirkland ball. No Costcos in my town but sent my sister in law was able to get me a box. I think the ball is very good. Played 18 with the same Kirkland ball. (bucket list golf achievement) it was great to do it and that ball made it from the first tee box to the 18th green.
Hell with the ball! I'm watching your consecutive bunker shots on loop for 5 minutes and get a feel for the speed through the shot. I tend to decelerate but those shots showed me speed and commit to the shot. Thanks for the lesson. 👍
I always thought the v2 ball was too hard on the putter feel. That’s why I didn’t care for them. I’ll have my father-in-law buy a box and see if these have a little softer cover. From the looks of it, they produced the same ball, called it v3 and raised the price. 😂
I bought a membership solely for these balls and the gloves. everything else is a bonus. My normal gamer is the TP5 and the only difference I find is the TP5 spins up a little bit more around the green.
i've been playing the Kirkland ball since the 2022 when i got my hands on the V2 ball, and for the price and performance, you literally can not beat the ball. i mean you are getting 2 dozen for less than the price of 1 dozen of similar urethane ball.
I love the Kirkland balls. Once you get used to premium urethane covered balls, there is no going back. These balls allow me to practice with a reasonably priced ball and pull out the premium priced balls for competitive rounds.
I got a couple of boxes of the v2 and found them too spinny with a fast swing speed, definitely lose some distance but they felt great and short game was great with them. They really can be a club shorter easily than other balls ive used in windy conditions!
Man exactly what I found. I even gave them to my brother who is slower speed and he lost a club and 15 yards from his driver too. The first kirkland made and got sued by titleist was good but since then they are garbage. The cult following for this ball are just inexperienced golfers who don't know any better
Same here. The Kirkland balls are mediocre at best. I use either the Srixon z star, or Bridgestone tour b xs. My club head speed is just under 110 mph when I’m fully warmed up. The Kirkland balls are probably lower compression, and thus being too spiny for higher swing speed players.
Agreed - My club head speed with driver hovers around 99-105 and I found the Kirklands easily ending up 15 yards shorter off the tees on my home course. Thats a full club more into small greens. Too spinny for me off the tee.
Really respect your club evaluation videos. Was a huge Adams fan back in the day. Please try to get your hands on the new Adams irons and give me your honest opinion for a 15 handicap weekend warrior. Forgiving???
i currently play the old kirkland ball.....so from watching the video i don't think i will be chasing the new kirkland ball....as you rightfully stated the old kirkland does everthing you wan't from the ball....and that is the same with me i am used to it's charactoristics.......😂
You should have put a call out to your US viewers. I’m sure I could have bought them and shipped them to you for less than you payed. Haha in fact I bought some and I’m not in love with them. I just them to chip around the backyard now.
My problem with the older versions was they would scuff and tear after just a few holes...until they fix the weak cover they are not even worth the cheaper price since it takes 3 or 4 balls just to complete a round.
@@M82RKY I must have got a couple of bad boxes of V2's then because I had 98 balls total and after playing about a dozen with the same problem I gave the other 86 away. There are a lot of inexpensive golf balls on the market that work as well and last much longer.
There is nothing inherantly wrong with a packaging refresh after a number of seasons. I kinda like the nearly identical look...if it plays the same as the original, why not look the same. For a lot of us blokes out there trying to stay in double digits the value is quite genuine.
If I could see a white ball anymore I would definitely use the Kirkland ball. I am currently playing the Callaway super soft in red hoping that I will be able to follow the ball beyond 25 yards. At 72 my eyes, like my game, isn't what it used to be.
The neon yellow Kirkland is now available! I’m having a hard time tracking white balls myself, I think it’s time to switch. I can’t decide between pink, yellow, or the soccer ball style (they’re supposed to be super easy to track). What’s your experience with colors/patterns?
My guess is that Costco doesn't have a whole lot of say into these balls. They are probably just a clone of some other ball you'd pay more money for - just change the dye colors, print Kirkland on the outside, and off you go. I use them and love them.
I like the V2 bec. they feel soft on the driver and they go far! I've read that the new V3 is a harder ball. I prob. will find a different low compression ball when the V2s run out.
To bad we lost that first Kirkland ball ( Made in Korea very close to an older Taylormade model, now Taylormade owns that factory) So many direct to consumer balls now and all of them are very similar Vice, On-Core, Snell, Cut etc. so the ball manufactures send samples and those companies and Costco pick from very similar samples. Any of them are good, we are using Snell right now but Kirklands are being used by many with good results, and now in Yellow guys are going nuts for them around here.
I mostly buy re-washed or re-used balls (never refinished) and the newest models of these, the arrow differences are a bit like the Pro-v reincarnations...at least it's not worse...it's just a good value for money golf ball...!
You say your complaint about golf is the rising cost of equipment, Golf balls, etc. but mention nothing of the rising cost of a round of golf. Here, in Reno Nevada, rounds of golf have risen as much as 30% in the last year or two.
Will we ever get a collab video with LetsPlayThrough? That would be wicked. Also I just switched to the chrome soft x ls. Ball is an absolute monster off the tee. Spins well off irons and wedges too. Give it a shot.
I bought over 150 pro v1 for 45p a ball.( Friend who dog walks in the bushes of golf courses, his kid got the cash)😂 Im good for a while i reckon but when im out ill go back to Kirkland.
Bought my first box of Kirkland’s last week. Struggled the first round but more a swing problem than the ball. Second round with the version 3 ball was a gross 80. Thanks for the honest reviews. I look forward to a cup of coffee, a few quiet moments and new JR golf video each morning .
Should have asked - I’d have sent you some from Dallas. Although now Costco thinks it’s Christmas already so all the golf stuff has vanished from the stores. Been playing them for a few weeks. Not a huge difference other than none of the ballooning drives that the old one would do. Shorter and around green - not much difference. Still not quite a Pro V1 - which is my “not over water” ball. Oh - they also still don’t last as long as a Pro V1
Good review, James. Been playing the V3 since April and for me at least it plays just as well as premium balls. 6 hcp and just can't see the difference... at least enough to warrant spending $4.50 per ball.
@JamesRobinsonGolf my pleasure James it's also a pleasant surprise you're prepared to respond to good and not so complimentary comments , maybe your next entertaining offer on TH-cam will inspire a more enthusiastic reply, instead of being something akin to a cheap Christmas stocking filler.
My big problem with the v2 was cover durability. Any wedge I hit I'd be picking urethane out of my grooves after. A ball lasted no more than two holes before it was trashed beyond playable.
@@Paul-lm5gv I'm not losing the balls... The cover is tearing bc I'm pinching it hard with wedges and the cover isn't durable enough. I'm in the right sport, trust me.
Durability with the V2 was always the issue. V1 was better. You need 3 x V2 balls per round sometimes due to how badly they scuff up (without losing any) so the savings just aren't worth it unless the V3 cover has dramatically improved? I switched out to the Taylormade Soft Response in the end and have played that all year. It carries further, still provides the same level of stopping power on the greens and feels as good as the Kirkland IMO.
I use prov1x, tp5x, tour response, how does it compare? I remember an earlier review you did where you stated it’s a bit shorter on drives, but similar short game performance, I need to use a yellow ball to better see it, so I am excited to know since Costco is coming out with yellow
New V3 is slightly longer off driver and longer clubs but fail miserably on shorter irons (5-10 yards shorter). 90 compression, hard cover, thin hard mantle is the reason. Forget this ball in colder weather for the same reasons above.
Everyone is call this V3 except Costco. I believe they just had to get the ball made in a different plant, and changed the packaging. It doesn’t say it’s new version or updated in any way ( actually says the same exact thing as sown in the video). It seems everyone wants it to be a V3, but it never claimed to be.

Thanks buddy o appreciate that. Which ones specifically?
New mail order Adams Idea Irons. Not sure if available in UK. On the internet here in the US. Hollow body " forgiving irons"
i currently play the old kirkland ball.....so from watching the video i don't think i will be chasing the new kirkland ball....as you rightfully stated the old kirkland does everthing you wan't from the ball....and that is the same with me i am used to it's charactoristics.......😂
I saw a review where these are not as good or close to the same as the V2
Correct mate seen that no change prob worse
You should have put a call out to your US viewers. I’m sure I could have bought them and shipped them to you for less than you payed. Haha in fact I bought some and I’m not in love with them. I just them to chip around the backyard now.
For me, v3 seems to wear a little better. I'd be comfortable for 3 rounds.
I compared the PRO V-1 with KIRKS. Using my Epic Drivers. With 10.5 PRO V-1 out drove by 10 yards. With 9.0 Epic KIRKS 8 yards further.
My problem with the older versions was they would scuff and tear after just a few holes...until they fix the weak cover they are not even worth the cheaper price since it takes 3 or 4 balls just to complete a round.
That's also why they're so cheap. Kind of like those Cut golf balls, those live up to their name.
V2 was pretty durable, better than the majority of £4+ balls
@@M82RKY I must have got a couple of bad boxes of V2's then because I had 98 balls total and after playing about a dozen with the same problem I gave the other 86 away. There are a lot of inexpensive golf balls on the market that work as well and last much longer.
The v3 ones definitely scuff up n less
@@golfbnpersonally I've found the premium balls only last me a couple of holes at best until they look unplayable.
Played the v2 for a couple of months this year but the cover would scuff very easy after 3/4 holes.
I found a ton of these this summer, I’ll have to check them out to see which version I have…
The new ones you didn't as they weren't out in the summer lol
I wish they would make these balls in yellow. I'm very colorblind and prefer to see a hi-vis yellow.
They just came out with yellow balls. I just ordered a box on Costco's website today.
@@billyboy5903 no wayyyyy. Thanks👍
There is nothing inherantly wrong with a packaging refresh after a number of seasons. I kinda like the nearly identical look...if it plays the same as the original, why not look the same. For a lot of us blokes out there trying to stay in double digits the value is quite genuine.
When will Costco drop a dime on a logo? Having Kirkland written halfway around the ball is not attractive, same with the clubs.
They have been on sale at Amazon UK for some weeks now, a US import.
Cracking review on the new Kirkland golf ball James
I use V2, there good. But what shoes are you wearing?
If I could see a white ball anymore I would definitely use the Kirkland ball. I am currently playing the Callaway super soft in red hoping that I will be able to follow the ball beyond 25 yards. At 72 my eyes, like my game, isn't what it used to be.
The neon yellow Kirkland is now available! I’m having a hard time tracking white balls myself, I think it’s time to switch. I can’t decide between pink, yellow, or the soccer ball style (they’re supposed to be super easy to track). What’s your experience with colors/patterns?
We are buying them in the states (in store is cheaper then on costcos site) for $27 for 24 balls
Thank you. In Costco now watching your review. I will be buying
When are these out in the UK. The old ones have just come back in stock. I thought they were released here in Novemver
I've been playing the Kirkland ball for years. Love them.
My guess is that Costco doesn't have a whole lot of say into these balls. They are probably just a clone of some other ball you'd pay more money for - just change the dye colors, print Kirkland on the outside, and off you go. I use them and love them.
If you bought them off Amazon how did you verify they were not counterfeit?
They seem to have a Harder shell. but appear to go a little further and are more durable.
You say your complaint about golf is the rising cost of equipment, Golf balls, etc. but mention nothing of the rising cost of a round of golf. Here, in Reno Nevada, rounds of golf have risen as much as 30% in the last year or two.
The first Kirkland version 4 layer made in Korea was fire.
I use the Kirkland balls and they are better then what I was using before (recycled balls, Nike). They are plain old good balls.
First video I’ve seen of yours. Love the consistency of shots! Really impressive for a video like this!
V3 is about 10 yards longer than V2, and it about the same as a ProV1. Nice improvement for sure
I felt like the cover struggled with the v2. Didn’t seem very durable compared to it’s more expensive counter parts.
I dislocated my right shoulder playing golf last year. I fell off the golf ball washer.
I tried v2 but it felt to firm, mostly when putting and chipping.I moved on to TM Noodle and Bstone brx.
I use Wilson Duo Soft/Soft Response. 11-12 hcp.
I went to my local Costco today and they did not have any Kirkland golf balls at all 😢
Good review, James. Been playing the V3 since April and for me at least it plays just as well as premium balls. 6 hcp and just can't see the difference... at least enough to warrant spending $4.50 per ball.
24 for $27.99 in the USA at Costco
I tried these balls out for the last week. At higher swing speeds I notice a drastic decrease in distance on drives 30+ yards. Very disappointing.
Diameter is also bigger than prov or the other big name brands
Anybody know when the yellow balls are going to be released? I’ve heard November.
They are still 15 to 20 yards shorter with driver off the tee and scuff immediately
I’ve not found that at all mate. Nobody else I’ve spoken to have either
@@JamesRobinsonGolftheir defo shorter not 15 20 but shorter them my Wilson staff and pro v balls also in the wind there horrendous
16.02minutes I'm not getting back. Surprise surprise K1 K2 K3 are very similar. Thanks James
Nobody handcuffed you to the chair Rob. The fact you wasted your time writing this comment speaks volumes about how you value your time. Thanks Rob
Hi james just noticed Wesley Bryan pga tour player is gaming takomo irons on tour this week
James! Next time you need something from the USA, just let me know and I’ll send it to you for my cost so you have to overpay.
Thanks buddy
I have been using the new model for about two months, they definitely scuff up less but otherwise I see no difference in play.
My big problem with the v2 was cover durability. Any wedge I hit I'd be picking urethane out of my grooves after. A ball lasted no more than two holes before it was trashed beyond playable.
*If you only had a ball last 2 holes you should look for a new sport! You def. are doing something wrong!*
@@Paul-lm5gv I'm not losing the balls... The cover is tearing bc I'm pinching it hard with wedges and the cover isn't durable enough. I'm in the right sport, trust me.
Is the dimple pattern same are there same number of dimples.
Fatherhood has changed you James, where was the Perroni on the CostCo shopping list
I use prov1x, tp5x, tour response, how does it compare? I remember an earlier review you did where you stated it’s a bit shorter on drives, but similar short game performance, I need to use a yellow ball to better see it, so I am excited to know since Costco is coming out with yellow
James, you had 2 low drives and 2 higher drives. You didn’t say which one had the better ball flight off the driver.
It's all about feel with a golf ball 😊well done James 👏
I disagree with a name change. My family and I love the Kirkland brand!
New V3 is slightly longer off driver and longer clubs but fail miserably on shorter irons (5-10 yards shorter). 90 compression, hard cover, thin hard mantle is the reason. Forget this ball in colder weather for the same reasons above.
How did u find out the compression?
Brilliant channel James. Well done mate. I’m glad you’re doing well. And you’re a Red. #MUFC. Top man
Not so good today 🥲 we’re in tatters aren’t we
@@JamesRobinsonGolf yeah absolute nightmare. 😞
Someone asked me what ball I used I said Kirkland, he looked at me like I had pissed in his breakfast cereal .
