Thanks for watching! If you’re here to replace the door lock switch on your Samsung washing machine, we hope this guide makes the repair straightforward. One quick tip if you're ordering parts online, be cautious with sellers on sites like Amazon or eBay. We’ve seen a lot of cheaper aftermarket switches that don’t hold up well and often cause further issues. For a reliable fix, we recommend using only original OEM parts, like the ones we sell at partsdr.com. Genuine parts ensure a long lasting repair and prevent future problems. Good luck with your repair!
Thanks for this - I am going to attempt this change the lock today on my 5 year old Samsung WA50R5400AV/US. The part number I found is different - DC34-00025G - and I can't find instructions online for that specific part. Sticking my head in the washer the part looks about the same as the one you pulled. The symptom originally is it wouldn't disengage/unlock after a load. No error code. I took some string and lifted the lid a bit, looping it around the plastic lock retainer nub on the door and firmly (but not too firmly!) pulled on it while lifting the lid. I could at least access the wet clothes. I pushed the plastic lock 'tongue' in and it worked about 5 or 6 more times but now it won't engage at all. That was nice because it took a week for the part to come in (didn't order from PartsDr).
*sigh* digging in there were a lot of differences and I'm stuck now. First, there were 2 screws covered by some rubber grommits in the front that was holding the top on - no weird slide pegs or clips, just had to unscrew them. Second, I've got a hose for the on-demand water spigot blocking my ability to remove the electric plug of the old switch. I got the clip on the inside of the machine loose but the hose won't budge off the post - and the one on the panel, I can't get to the clip. So I'm going to have to try to figure that out. Also I invented 6 new curse words so far.
Brother, thank you so much for this video. The only difference in mine is the way it clamps down on top. It has plugs all around and you have to pop them all to get it off. Took me a minute to figure it out. Thank you so much again for your help.
Thank You so well done you are a natural professor. How can you definitively know its the door switch? Is the a resistance or continuity test? I get a DE code.
I did this and my washer still won’t lock, the lid looks cracked where the strike should be but I went and looked at a brand new one at the Home Depot and it doesn’t look like the strike is different at all? I’m not sure why the lock won’t fully engage. The washer will say the door is locked but then you can just lift the lid, and it will try to start and not start and when I rung the Samsung diagnosing it says it’s bc the door isn’t locking?? Not sure if it’s the strike bc it doesn’t even seem to have a strike portion?
Is there a way to fix the plastic that keeps the latch locked in place? My sister broke it by forcing it open but we can’t pay $300 to replace the whole lid the model is wa52m7750av/a4
I have a Samsung WA45T3200AW/A4 with what I thought was a bad DC34-00025E. I pull the old part out, but when I try to install the new part. THERE ARE NO SCREW POSTS on the top!! WHAT DO?
This is my problem also. I want to delete the damn lock but it's probably not possible. I don't need it. I'm to old and fat to get inside my washer. 🙄 I don't even know how it got broke! It has a soft close lid and the only thing I've ever done is dust inside that grungy hole. Mine is the samsung wa50r5400a.
Is it the plastic housing where the screws attach? If so, that part can also be replaced for under $5. I improvised using 2 small screws on the outside.
Changed the lock with help from this video. Lock function still not operating properly. Wont engage to allow a wash cycle to begin every time (will work properly 1 time in 20 tries) Wont disengage when it DOES start and complete a wash cycle. So frustrating.
@@PartsDr the original issue was "no start" condition so I started with a successful lock replacement (with all credit going to your video) When that didnt resolve the issue, I changed the main board next and the washer is working again! Thanks for all the help

Ok, made hole slightly bigger with a dremel. Finished. The part works fine and we're back in business.
Thank you for sharing! Nice job fixing it yourself!

Thanks for this video. Easy to follow - was able to replace the part based on your excellent instructions!
Nice job!
Thank you! I just fixed my washing machine. It was a little different (model: WA17R7G4UWW), but mostly the same.
Nice job fixing it yourself! Thank you for sharing the model number, that will help others find this video.
This video was really helpful and I was able to replace the lid latch myself for only the cost of the part ($60). I love repairing my own appliances!
Great to hear! Nice job fixing it yourself!
Thank You so well done you are a natural professor. How can you definitively know its the door switch? Is the a resistance or continuity test? I get a DE code.
It's not an easy part to test. Checking resistance from Black to Brown wires should be around 33 to 46 ohms.
@@PartsDr Thanks
Thank you; this was extremely helpful.

I replaced the lock and the washer is working, but the tab on the lid that makes it stay shut is also broke off
Do you have that part ?

The only option that we know of is to replace the lid. partsdr.com/part/dc97-18845s-lid-assembly
Is there a way to biomass?? Why need a lid lock on a top load washer?
The lid lock is a safety device to prevent injury. We do not recommend trying to bypass a safety device.
Lock door front lid is hell to unlock I'm stuck lid will not release from front of top loader washer
Back and sides are loose front of toploader will not release to lift up to install new door lock assembly
If my model is: wa24r7450gv, which one does work?, amazon link plz or something
Sorry, we do not have information on non-USA Samsung models.
Is there anyway to temporarily bypass this until part arrives??
Sorry, not that we know of.
Yes, there is a way you have to grab a magnet
Will the dc34-00025e switch work for a wa45h7000aw/a2 04
Yes that is the correct part for your model washer. partsdr.com/part/dc34-00025e-door-lock-switch?model=WA45H7000AW---A2-04

The part that the lock screws into on the lid is broken?

Why did you replace a different lid lock from the one in the video click image
If you watch the full video you will see that we remove the old style lid lock and replace it with the new style lid lock.
Can you make a video of this Samsung washer running on a full cycle without a lovely lady, I want to see the machine shake and dc pop up.
Everything is made of god damn plastic
I miss old metal washer machines
They just worked

Sorry to hear that. If the original lid lock was acting the same way, it is probably caused by a bad main control board.
