I just wanted to thank you. I reviewed your video, yesterday morning, and decided to order a replacement latch on my own and attempt the installation. Other than my Samsung model having the tabs on the sides, everything went like clockwork. The washer is running, and life is back to normal. Conservatively, I think you saved me at least $200. Much, much, much appreciated.
Hi there. Great video. My locking assembly broke but also broken is the 2 mounting posts. I can’t figure out what/where those posts were attached to? I sat on the washer edge quickly and the plastic posts sheered off. I can feel some type of bracket in there. Any photos or suggestions? Thank you!
We'd be happy to help you figure that out, but we'll need some additional information about the model and the problem. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. We will need the model number for the appliance, so that we can look up diagrams and information about your specific unit to give you accurate advice. You can look here on our website to help you find the model number: www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
Could this be the cause on why my Samsung washer won't start after pushing the Start/Pause button. All it does is chime but won't lock and start. I have to push the start/ pause button several times before it will start the cycle.
I have not changed the lock yet (doing pre-research for the job right now to do the job this afternoon), but my washer (WA50R5400AV/US) was doing the same thing. I didn't hear the "click" sound of the lid lock engaging and the lid lock light wasn't coming on. I used a little "percussive maintenance" (gave it a couple not really hard whacks over the lid lock and got it working for about 5-6 cycles but it's totally dead now. When I got it working it didn't make the firm 'click' sound, it was more like an electric whirring sound so I figured the switch was bad. I get no error codes but the cycle won't start. I wish there was a way to just bypass it. We don't have small kids and don't really have a need to lock the washing machine door.
Mine is a newer model and you don't have those tabs to release. Mine has 4 screws on the top to remove. Two in the back and two in the front. The front ones you need to lift the lid and there are two rubber covers covering the screws, remove the rubber covers and then remove those two screws. Then the top will lift right off! Much easier. You will still need to then tip the top back, brace it, and then remove the old part. Piece of cake.

What is your model number?
Mine has a black plastic piece to somehow take off to push the harness thru to take the part out. I cannot figure out how to remove it or take it off

Anyway I can rig my washer to wash clothes until my lid lock assembly is delivered. I really just need the part that slides out of the lid lock.

Our videos are generic videos to give you an idea on how the repair is completed. Glad the repair for your model was easier!
