My name is James and I live full time in my tiny van, however this is not just a van life channel. I enjoy travel, food and drink and making videos 🙂
When I turned 50 I decided I’d had enough of the rat race and working long hours just to pay rent and bills, life was passing me by and I needed a drastic change.

Where is Helen?
Helen has a responsible full time job and two children so unfortunately she can’t join me on every trip. I really wish she could.
What equipment do you use?
My vlogging camera is a GoPro Hero 9 but I also use my pixel 6a phone and Lumix G80 camera for other footage
For editing, I used Premiere Pro on an old laptop but I’m saving to buy a more powerful computer.
Do you have children?
Yes I have a 6yr old daughter who lives with her mum but I see her quite a lot. I don’t usually put her on the vlogs and if I do, I block out her face for privacy reasons. I also have a grown up son.
How do you fund your lifestyle?
I don’t need as much to live these days since going full time van life but I receive a small percentage of income from the ads that TH-cam put on the videos.
Why the sponsored videos?
I only accept sponsorship from companies I use and trust, this is my fulltime job and my income, it’s how I support my family. (I have Patreon if you prefer videos with no ads).

Is it just me...? I don't think it's right to have to pay to go in a church or cathederal... I get that they have to pay for the upkeep but I think the church gets plenty of money and they could ask for donations. Charges like this make these places too expensive for the ordinary working person...elitist if you ask me...

Rochester, Winchester, Chichester, etc are all free...but ask for donations.

I bought my hubby some Loakes when I inherited some money after my dad died. Husband often went without shoes as a child and had never had a pair fitted properly. He absolutely loves them and the aftercare is superb. They will last him for many many years.
What you should have done is gone to the park and ride at Trumpington. No charge for the car park just a bus ticket and no worries about keeping a check on the time. Also there is a nice wetherspoons in Cambridge which has downstairs toilets.

Brought back some memories. Last time I visited Ely, 25 years ago, the choir was practicing in the cathederal. If things are very expensive in restaurants, and bear no relation to value for money, walk out. Sadly, it's the minimum wage staff that suffer in these places because, if the punters think they've been ripped off, they never leave a tip.
Just seen a kind man paid the fine - i was just contemplating doing it!!!

The Cathedral is stunning, I'm from York and the Minster is awesome but Ely Cathedral is off the scale. Fantastic choir too, the Christmas services are amazing. Thanks for the upload.

Ely looks so lovely and the cathedral was just beautiful.The architecture in Cambridge was wonderful, shame they don't build like that now.
When visiting Cambridge - best bet is the Park & Ride tbh! An expensive place for sure!
You went right in the centre of town but the best street is Mill Road . . .
Ely Cathedral is a wonder to behold (also expensive to get into but the maintenance of a place like that has to be considered!)
Both places steeped in history, so got to be worth a visit!

That Cathedral in Ely is amazing. I remember it well from my tour around the UK in 1973. Thanks for reminding me of my mis-spent youth. Almost 50 years ago now. Sigh!

I had a Antie that lived in Cambridge she was a ripe old age of 102. She died a few years ago. Her Husband was something to do with Pye Radio. They used to have a Vintage car in there Garden as a feature.

Speaking of cycle paths….
There were three roads in a pub. A motorway, a dual carriage way and a single carriage way. They were arguing who was the hardest toughest of them all. They agreed the motorway was on account of his ‘hard’ shoulders.
Suddenly in walks a a pink pathway. The motorway looked stunned and his under the table. The other two laughed and asked why he did that. The motorway replied…. You’re joking that’s a cyclo path!

Im really sorry, we had to stop doing shout outs. We talked about it in an early video. When we did them in the beginning we got completely inundated with requests and it was too hard to keep up. However, we always mention people who we see when out and about so hopefully we will see you on our travels :-)

The park & ride buses are the best option & I pretty sure you can stay in the trumpington one . Looking at some of the architecture it makes you realise we've actually lost the ability to create such feats of engineering.
Visit historical sites as often as you can, because one day they won't be there any more.

Loved it guys. I feel your pain with the ticket. I suspect they have an alert that your car has expired and then able to issue. Anyways, what can you do. The cathedral looks great. Loved the stone of all the buildings, must be local.

Hated staying in Cambridge,used to stay in Ely and earith a lot ,Bury st Edmunds was my fave ,so proper old pubs ,and the smallest is the nutshell ,and if course Abbott ale 🎉

I was born in Ely. Worked 😅n Cambridge and yes it’s mega expensive. Lots of rich Chinese buy houses there. House prices on par with London.

Yes Ely is very expensive and I live in North London . We had a meal at that pub a few months ago . Nice but very expensive . Ely is a nice small town to walk about . The toy shop is the best shop in Ely . It’s like going back to the 70s . 👍🤓

Such beautiful cities and cathedrals - that is why it's not cheap or there are entry fees where a choir wa performing live. You obviously enjoyed the whole experience. Weather was grea too.
It's supply and demand, Robert. Folk travel 1000's miles to get there. They're not gonna "baulk" at the prices, as much as they know full well it's legal extortion.
