They're good and work on all sorts of set ups. The only tweak I made was to change the bushings in the rail adapter to some firmer ones for just a little less action and got better speed from pumps.
I've been sharing this on the surfskate subreddit for a bit now. I found while beta testing the fin that I can toss some Riptide Krank Fatcones in the rail adapter, wide side board side, and it's 1000x better than any riser you can get. I can actually steer my wb setup with my back foot and the fatcones keep me super stable. The lean is much more controlled
Nice review - pretty much spot on. I might try my penny truck on my waterborne setup for fun. Also have a Swelltech Hybrid, and cross training between them is awesome - I've noticed the waterborne forces you to push and drive onto the front foot when you're coming out of a turn to keep momentum, so when I jump on the swelltech - which is like liquid by comparison - I'm able to maintain more speed coming out of turns.
I purchased the Waterborne Surf adapter to install it on my Globe The All Times longboard. To my bitter surprise, I found that the front adapter housing was too narrow to accommodate the truck base. I had to file the base of the front truck half a millimeter on one side and half a millimeter on the other to get it in. I believe that the manufacturer and all advisors of this product should warn potential buyers that they may encounter this difficulty. Other than that, the adapter works just fine.
Hi, have you tried waterborne adapter with RKP trucks (e.g. paris v3)? Do you think what is the best setup for WB adapter? (traditional kingpin or reserve kingpin trucks)
Great review. I have the front adapter without the back part. I just have the riser in the back. I don't really understand what the addition for the back trick is meant to accomplish.
The rail adapter (back) allows the deck to lean even more. Some people love this huge amount of play. The rail adapter also allows the wheels to maintain surface contact and hence better grip when doing deep carves
very nice setup, it seems to remind the swelltech, but with much easier pumping. I would worry about the nose being lower than the tail, however your riding is excellent, I wonder if you just compensate with your skills or if you actually like a lower nose. The fix is easy, use a regular 6 inch skate truck in the back . I never heard about anybody breaking it, but it is always good to have a nose longer than the tip of the adapter, specially for beginners that can kill somebody smashing it on a leg :D gotta look more of your videos, thanks for sharing and work hard on them

Hi Shane, thanks for your awesome videos. What type of deck works best with the WB adapter to get the best surf feel? Are cruisers decks a good fit? Are cruiser decks usually concave? Also, would it be weird to use a "normal" symmetrical skateboard deck?
You definitely want a bit of concave to help secure your feet on the board and to push more into the the turns. Also look for a wheelbase that matches your surfing stance or slightly longer.
(replying to myself) I've set them up on a cheap-ish cruiser, it works pretty well. Was the shorter wheelbase problematic, or did it make your surf skate turn even more aggressively? I just purchased the Waterborne surf skate adapter via Penny's website because I plan to install it on my 27" or 32" Penny board, but I wasn't even aware of the rail adapter until today, and it sounds like the additional 30 degrees of lean it provides makes it a winner, eh? Thanks for your feedback. Keep up the great job with your channel! Cheers!
I added one to my regular skateboard deck and trucks. No problems.
(replying to myself) I've set them up on a cheap-ish cruiser, it works pretty well. You do get a surfskate experience but personnally I found that a proper surfskate is sligthly better (I've tried swelltech and yow which I both liked). The advantage of waterborne is that it's slightly cheaper and you can set it up on any board.
About your setup. You should not use the C2 truck is too hight, and also the penny truck is too narrow. Use normale low and wide trucks
Yeah true. I wanted to try very loose trucks.
And for the narrow front truck, i was borrowing from swelltech's design.
Great review
Thanks 🤙
Also how can can I contribute to the channel apart from subscribing and liking?
Haha I thought I was the only one using my penny board trucks for this
bro doing the most throwing his hands everywhere like wtfff
how does the waterborne fair in a bowl? cant seem to find much videos of that. waterborne should really learn from yow in terms of marketing to inspire noobs like myself
Too heavy and high and too much range of motion of the rail adapter for the bowl
Thank you Jesus amen
Thanks for the video. I’ve never heard mechanism pronounced MECHAN-ism before. Always MECH-anism. Learned about skateboards and culture
