By coincidence I just attended a performance of this work at an outdoor concert hosted by the Kenilworth, IL Park District last Sunday. The ensemble was a new group, Symphony 847, based in Lake Forest, IL. It was only their third concert. Being an outdoor event the sound quality left much to be desired. This performance was just wonderful. What a pleasure to listen to again, and to actually hear.
An amazing a collaborative group of professional musicians working in tandem to perform a wonderful music as a unified entity and thus rendering honor to Ludwig Van Beethoven. They are blessed in the Lord.

@@bayerischekammerphilharmonie the cadenza is a little (nice!) invention by the violinist or does Beethoven explicitally give some freedom or different solutions to be played there?

It was only in the end of his life that Beethoven was annoyed by the success of his piece and talked rather contemptuous about it. At the beginning he was quite proud of it.
Is there anything extant that Beethoven created that one would would ever classify as “his worst”? In my estimation, the whole concept is wrong-headed. What I have determined in my years of experiencing Beethoven, in recordings, in live performances, in televised concerts, in solo recitals, including mine and those of far more accomplished professionals, among other opportunities I have had to experience the mind and heart of this genius, that there is no such thing as a “worst” composition of The master Ludwig van Beethoven. I do not claim a scholar’s knowledge of the entire body of this musical legacy, but the chamber music, the concerti, the piano and violin sonatas, the symphonies, his one opera in its many variations, and no doubt more, are such a delight and in their variety, so beautiful. If I had to claim my current two favorite works, one would be a late piano sonata, known as the “Hammerklavier,” and a late string quartet movement we now call the “Grosse Fuga.” Both are astonishing in their complexity and their chromaticism. In the great fugue, the tonalities explored in the movement presage sounds more commonly heard from 20th century musicians. Both works conclude with triumphal resolution that can only be described as the sound of pure joy and triumph of the human spirit. This septette seems to have much of the same spirit about it. This work at times has an orchestral quality except with individual instruments carrying the lyric line instead of entire sections performing the function. As such, one could perhaps think of this composition as an assemblage of concerti featuring miniature solo performances by each of the seven musicians. It could well be that all of Beethoven’s chamber works can all be thought of in this manner, but it does seem to me that this less than usual assemblage of virtuoso performers on the range of both wind and stringed instruments gives listeners the opportunity to enjoy concerto style solo performances by each musician functioning as soloists and with the ensemble as a whole playing a work that epitomizes true classical era music.
I am not that into Beethoven, but I love thos piece, these guys are the best. Liked especially the violin, very well balanced between having the singing voice but playing also with the rest of the band.
