I only noticed it when I watched the episode for the second time (on your Patreon), but when he says the line about only worrying about Gyu Ho saying “I was only worried about him tasting the blood” the Kylie song is playing in the background to highlight that there are multiple layers to his attraction and concern for Gyu Ho.
jin hoeun, the actor who plays gyuho, has been liking nam yoonsu's insta posts since 2017 because they went to high school together and he was always a fan of yoonsu somebody cry with me
I have friends who have lived with HIV since the 80s. Back then it was very scary and the attitude of others was sometimes horrific. I worked on AIDS awareness campaigns around 1990 and it was hard work getting through to people at times. This show is important as a reminder that it is not a death sentence BUT it is still here. I'm not sure my kids even think about it so we still have to educate and raise awareness.
The sad part is that the stigma of HIV is still pretty relevant to this day. I’m glad Gyuho was accepting because even though he is a nurse and would know more about HIV than any regular degular person, in reality even those people are ignorant. So many of my coworkers still act as if a person with HIV can sneeze and you’ll catch it. It’s quite wild. I am glad the show is educating but not in a way that comes off as a teaching moment but just by him having it, you learn more about it.
35:42 Kylie is named Kylie because Aphrodite by Kylie Minogue is one of Goyoung's favorite albums. As a matter of fact, in the book, Kylie Minogue's name is all over Part Three. I guess the showrunner didn't want to get sued LOL.
"It felt like a crime to let those friendly lips just pass me by. I kissed them before I could stop myself" pg 133 (uk edition) and thats where we begin this journey!! like god im so grateful they let park sangyoung write the screenplay bc the translation that is done between the two mediums is absolutely brilliant, and they were able to capture what i loved about the novel in this beautiful amalgamation of humanity on screen and its SO. INCREDIBLY. GOOD. love that at the end of every recap yall are like i have NO IDEA whats gonna happen next lmao and IF THATS NOT THE TRUTH i knew exactly what was going to happen having read it and was still wildly unprepared 😭
Ep 5 and beyond is truly my favorite part of this beautiful show. The last scene of the episode especially had me in tears. Also, I believe we are already in 2020 because Goyoung looks at the bottle that says March of 2019 and goes "it expired ten months ago" making it like Jan/Feb.
30:30 wow I didn't give that much thought to the dream sequence when I watched the episode, this was an incredible association, and it definitely strengthens the argument that what she said to him in the hospital is meant to be taken ambiguously
I was gonna comment this!! Ofc is Miss Gay icon and Aussie Queen Kylie, but I guess they couldn't get the rights to use her music or name. I'm pretty sure if she knew about this series she would've handle all her music catalog to Sang Young Park 😭😩
One of the things that really bothered me is how certain fans felt about his HIV status, saying that it was karma for how he ended things with Namkyu and those girls on Reddit (lol) definitely felt attached to that relationship but damn, they didn't even notice how inaccurate their opinion is... I only wanted to know what more fans had to say about the episode and it really bummed me out. Thanks for making these recaps cuz your thoughts are way more mature, funny and accurate for us gay men ❤❤❤
About the whole klaine of it all: this is why representation matters! Not just because people deserve to see themselves on the screen and pages and so on but because it breaks down prejudice. It’s impossible to hold in to single, narrow idea of something when you see actual people. Korea just needs their version of Brokeback mountain. Or Glee. Preferably both. Maybe if love in the big city does well and companies and actors can see that no, the business didn’t go under, no the actor's career didn’t die, no the world didn’t end, we can get more things like this.
yay was waiting for this one! anyone else noticed the little parallel between goyoung drinking gyuho's americano in the café and Yongsu doing the same in their first meeting at the philosophy class? I thought it was interesting
I think there is a job need for people that will help family members deal with the administrative steps after a death. My Dad had a living trust and had some things taken care of and spelled out, and as the trustee, I still had to deal with that stuff for hundreds of hours over 18 MONTHS. It was absolutely horrible.

🥹
jin hoeun is such a cutie. he loves gyuho/goyoung more than anyone else
Hoeun manifested so hard and it paid off
In the novel he specifically refers to his HIV virus as Kylie Minogue
I think they had to change the name for copyright reasons 😭

I’m reading the book at the moment and third Kylie is made up for the series. It really is Australian Queen, and gay icon, Kylie Minogue! X

I worked with an HIV charity last year, and a woman said point blank "isn't all that over?" We still need these stories and education

This episode is pretty much perfect in every way, it does exactly what it aims to do and god it does it so well

The kiss when he tasted blood.. that's y he pushed gyu ho
Omg I have been waiting for this for the longest time 🕰️🎉🥳
It was actually Kylie Minogue, in the book is her. I supposed they didn´t use it because of the copyright or something
The fact that there was an Eagle in Columbus, Oh, that was a gay club. It may still be its been a VERY long time since I went there
GYUHO 😍😍

Gyuho 🫶🏻
I have so many questions about this episode. I even read the book to try to understand, but I don't want to ask because I might sound insensitive...
Can you guys watch, react and rank the trailers from the gmmtv 2025 conference. Theres GL’s and even a show about theater gays.
