not me just gets better with each episode. ignoring some minor details, the show is so cohesive and purposeful in its themes. offgun's acting here peaked imo, and gun is so incredible in his portrayal of both white and black. can't wait to see u guys watch the rest 🫶
Gun’s acting absolutely blew me away during this show. I’d only seen them in Theory in Love, where they are both fine actors, but it’s easy to forget that Gun has an extensive acting career outside of BL. And he really put in 110% in this show. You can tell which twin is on screen without them saying a word.
His acting in "The Gifted" (non-BL) was fantastic and stuck with me for the last few years. It's a drama based on a special class who have "gifts" (powers). Highly suggest it! There were two seasons of it, the second being called "The Gifted: Graduation". You'll notice some familiar faces if you have watched a lot of Thai BLs.
Maybe it's because I'm a political scientist but it was clear to me that White's father works for the Thai government. He's an ambassador or consul in Russia, and in those positions it's imperative to be close to the business elite of your home country because many (if not all) trade agreements are based on economic relations. In International Relations, economics is a basic component of power relations between countries and is part of the most important agreements to ensure alliances.
this show has the best of everything imo. the best acting. the best storyline. the best soundtrack. and the best cinematography. and the message is also incredible. also, there is disability representation which always makes me happy to see.
not to be an absolute nerd, but I do love it when a movie or a show reveals their theme through casual conversation and bonus points when it doesn't come from the MC. Everything about this show feels so on purpose. It's an anxious ride! But at least you know it's going somewhere, haha
One of my favorites. Good plot and great acting. Was already Offgun fan when I watched this but First was a revelation for me through this series cause Yok was a sensation (still is). Still remembers the theories and buzz the series created despite a lack of promotion
Gun is such a good actor. He doesn't need Gmmtv, they need him. If you ever watch him in non-BL (straight) dramas, he's so good: Home School or The Gifted.
i think first had such iconic characters in his career not only with his ship khao but also with other actors and yok will be at the top and he has chemistry with any actor
I remember that I read somewhere that this show is supposed to feel like a videogame, so you basically are playing as White and that's why there are some scenes that are in first person. Idk if this was official information or just someone's interpretation of it but i do think it makes sense, especially with the first couple of episodes. Not me really feels like a videogame at times even the soundtrack and storyline. I love this series and I'm happy you are recapping it, so excited to see your reaction and thoughts on the series :3
not me is better if you had watched it when it was on air. the bl twt used to go crazzyyyy after each episode and the twitter SPACES after each episode. NOT ME was an experience!!
In the dinner scene, White's father is asking a government official who is a friend of his to help his son get a job at the ministry. The father knows the minister, he knows the officials because they were his apprentices. So what is happening is a crime of corruption (influence peddling) by asking for a favor for the economic benefit of himself and his son. The father is aware of this, which is why he doesn't reveal the name of the minister or the department. He is aware that speaking in "code" can help evade any future proceedings in case that conversation is revealed to the public.
Yeah! I am so glad that you have started this series. It is my favorite BL to date (still), though Moonlight Chicken is a close second. Avoiding spoilers, I can say that this series was very taxing on Gun (there are few scenes in which he doesn't appear, and many of his scenes are quite intense); in fact, it was his desire to do something much lighter to follow it (and so we have him and Off in Cooking Crush). As much as I loved Not Me the first time I watched it (and I did binge the first ten episodes before watching the final four week by week as they aired), I found it even better in re-watches. In fact, I recently re-watched it with one of my favorite reactors who was doing reactions of her re-watch. I look forward to reliving it each week with you, though fourteen weeks will be a long time to wait for you to get through it. There are going to be times where you might question some things (like why did White not prepare just a little more when taking over Black's life), but for me these never detracted very much from the overall story. And this is the show I discovered Gun (my favorite), First (one of my favorites), Off (in arguably his best performance still to date), Gawin, Papang, Mond, and Sing. All the performances are stellar. The director, Anuchy, was/is a bit of an Off/Gun fan (as a duo), and they were given a great deal of latitude of how to handle their later intimate scenes.
@@jlprizm Sure. It's Ryn's Reviews. She has completed the re-watch, but I got behind (so many good shows to watch lately) and only just finished re-watching the last two episodes a week or so ago.
I discovered Not Me on your channel when Freddie mentioned it in your ITSAY recap, it is really a special series! And I'm so excited to hear your thoughts and all the theatre/zb1 references, the more the merrier Happy Holidays!✨️
You’re remembering Ocean’s 8 wrong, she tries to “return them” so when she get refused, she makes a big fuss and goes, fine I’ll just keep them! Can you give me a bag at least to carry them? So she gets the items for free. That movie is everything to me😭 Loving this commentary so far, we wouldn’t have picked this if you wouldnt like it, just stick with it!
I am so excited about this . Not me is one of favourite tv series of all time. i love the politics and the protest and the direct action. Also I was in a similar group in University although less arson was involved. That is also why i love Not Me because how queer and politcal this series is . Of course the action is awesome .
I'm only starting the video but I wanted to comment that the twins at the pool (the kids) are actual twin brothers, Kien and Kid, not the same boy twice dsjdlsaldjs
Yay!! I’m so happy you’re reacting to this show. As someone who watched Eighth Sense, Cherry Magic (Japan), and other shows you covered, I was just hoping you’d chose this show as well. I always look forward to your in-depth commentary, and am excited to hear your thoughts on this one too - hope you enjoy it! ☺️
18:06 i know a special effects make up artist and no one she knows is safe from her wanting to inspect and photograph any bruises, cuts or injuries you might have to add to her reference collection 🤣
Not Me is one of the best GMMTV series, I don’t say the best because Moonlight Chicken exists and that’s the best one but if Moonlight Chicken didn’t exist, Not Me would be the best GMMTV series. Yall will understand why around episode 7/8. I’m so excited yall are watching this ❤
Totally agree about Moonlight Chicken. I feel like Moonlight Chicken beats any GMMTV show by a landslide and it surprises me that people don't talk about it as much. Maybe because it's quite serious and not very outwardly fluffy.
@ yeah it makes me sad that people don’t talk about Moonlight chicken as much as other shows because this sends GMMTV a message: don’t make more shows like that. And I feel like the message should be the opposite, they should make more shows like that. And Moonlight chicken got many awards, hopefully that’s enough to encourage GMMTV go make more series like this. But yeah agree 100% that people don’t talk about Moonlight chicken enough
100% agree with this!! it's moonlight chicken--> not me--> my school president for me, but i do have a solid feeling that ticket to heaven in 2025 is gonna dethrone one of these for me. Let's seeee
I personally liked that they introduce the "political definirions" on the show, like that is just me and my friends trying to understand shit before an exam. Both university and workplace settings feel underused when the field they are in is not talked about, like wdym they are studying polsci and they dont have at least 40% of their convos involving it
I want them to react to your name engraved herein so bad and know what they think about it, it's literally my favorite movie and want people to give me their opinions about it
Gun did a het show called The Gifted under gmmtv where his acting was so good. He was also impressive in an indie psychological horror he did called Blue Hour. It was those performances that gave me faith that Not Me wouldn't be a write-off lol
Yeah, like one of the reasons i dont like ships its that there is no room for surprises in the couples department. And there are some shows where its ok, but then we have stuff like only friends that ruins all the potential fun...

y'all joke, but one of the funniest moments in a BL happens on this show (on purpose)

forget the bears, as kids we had to fight the horrors of the education system
As a twin, I can confirm the twin thing. The closer you are the stronger the feeling. When she lived abroad it went away.
