In Ohio 15% is definitely too dark. You will get a ticket every single time and might even get your vehicle impounded. I typically go 70% windshield, 30% fronts, 15% rears and it looks good and less risky.
@@nsosawetrust7895 I live in the same area. I have a friend who even got a Dr's permit for his tint due to an eye condition and they STILL made him remove the 50% from his windshield. I'd never get 5% in Ohio, except on the rear windows, not a chance.

You're crazy if you think that's true. One of the easiest ways for cops to 'have cause' to pull you over. What flies in your home state does NOT in all states, and they LOVE pulling out of state cars over for a check. I've read many stories of cops cutting the film with a blade and/or telling the driver to take it off. NOW I hope you don't do anything else illegal in that car when you get pulled over for your illegal tint job. ;)
First Tesla I looked at was tinted, probably less than the car in this clip and it was so dark I couldn't see. It was super distracting and I told them I wouldn't buy the car (white '21 M3 SR+) with that tint. Especially the front. The tint came down to cover about 35% of the front windshield and it felt like I was looking through a tunnel; like I couldn't see stuff that I was supposed to see. Like traffic lights. They took off the tint (they did this before I signed paperwork) and in the meantime I found a '19 Mettalic Silver Long Range with the 19" alloys, the acceleration boost activated and about the same mileage (the SR+ had 29k and the LR had 32k) for basically the exact same price. I bought the LR and I absolutely love the car.
Look beautiful but its way too dark for me… i put 70% (the lightest) on the side and no tint on windshield.. for night driving, and especially back country roads with no city lamp.. at night time.. cloudy sky.. worst rainy night.. even no tint is a little dark. But during daytime especially in the summer.. i say. 45-55% on the side, and 70% windshield.. is perfectly fine, Im thinking about removing the 70% and put 55% instead.. and add 70% on the windshield and rear.. all xpel xr black for my model 3… and where i live it is illegal to put anything on the windhsield and front must allow 70% light through..
@@marcush754 That’s the funny part is that it is! The roof and rear windshield on a Tesla come tinted from the factory, but on the rear windshield there’s a empty space that is not tinted (see 5:41 ). So if you tint the whole windshield again, the part that’s already tinted will appear even darker. I’m hoping that explanation makes since
It all depends as there’s different types of tinting films, but the ones I bought specifically was ceramic tint, with max heat rejection on every window, and with of course labor cost it came out to about $900 for my car That said. There is definitely wayyy cheaper tinting options out there for depending what you want, but in my opinion if you plan on having your vehicle for a while and you like your car a lot then consider getting the best (which in my opinion is ceramic tints with max heat rejection). Hope this helps 👍🏾
Correct. Unless you have a doctor’s note allowing it then you’d have to be ok with what may come legally should you want a tint like this Me personally, I haven’t had an issue yet with law enforcement nor care should one arise. That’s just my personal decision, not me giving advice or telling anyone what to do
I hope you have that doctors note because trust me you’ll care when your on the side of the freeway and their making you peel it all off 🤣 That’s how it is in Texas anyway
It's as illegal as his Adidas socks with the nike slides 🤣, just messing Frostie. Check with your state as some states its illegal and others its legal within certain guidelines and percentages. Just follow guidelines if you want no stress. Now Aesthetically it looks better darker and will over great heat rejection if you opt for the ceramic tint. Ceramic tint will cost more but not only will it give yo privacy but substantial heat rejection. if you just want privacy you can get solely tint that is not ceramic. Also in line with Tesla and other manufacture your vehicle has dark looking glass from factory, is not tinted, its usually dyed. When adding tint you need to account for that dye as if you get 30 percent tint now it may have 15-20 percent because it was applied to the dyed glass. Also remember tint is applied on the inside of the windshield so if you have say inspection stickers that go on inside windshield when they scrape off the old sticker to apply the new you can consider your tint more than likely to be damaged. There was a time here in va where tint would fail an inspection but that's now the polices problem. and tint is a secondary offense. so drive responsible and you'll be fine. One final thing if you go through a safety checkpoint for like dui... they will nail you for your tint so roll down all your windows and pray
@@frostieboiz Not sure what state he is from, but in RI you need to do a safety inspection every 2 years and if any front windows are tinted, they fail you. They take pictures and send them off to the state db as proof that your vehicle has passed the inspection. You get a window sticker if everything is in good shape. You can get away with tinted side windows if you roll them down and pull out the fuse for the inspection(no need for a reason why they don't roll up), but for the front windshield no amount of tint is allowed.
