I agree with you Mike. I’d keep the 16. If you had a 13, we’ll yes might be time to upgrade. No payments for a year or two is significant when you’re happy with what you have.

I’m going Soecial for my first bike. I don’t like the gold wheels on the ST and lack of stretched bags. Ill spend the money on upgrading the 114, if i want the power down the line. Great vid. You earned a new subscriber sir.

I am the same. I just bought a brand new 2022 SGS in Gunship Grey with chrome package, it's what I wanted, I love the stretched bags and chrome. I can always add to the engine, but I don't think I need to.... for me. I have Vance and Hines pipes waiting for it when it comes out of storage. I have a long wait, bought it Dec 8th off the showroom floor and right into storage after I had them put on a heel shifter and Kahuna heated grips.

The only thing better than owning a Harley-Davidson is owning a Harley-Davidson with no payments. The only way I would trade in is if I was wanting a completely different bike but I personally wouldn't "upgrade" to just a newer version of the same bike, especially if I already dumped a bunch of money in the one I have to get it just the way I like it.

I like the ST, I really do. I just wish they included the Öhlins as standard equipment. As far as tuning goes, I went from a Vance and Hines FP3 to a dyno tuned bike, and it’s a world of difference. Will I be upgrading from my 2019? No, it’s not worth it price wise to me to do so at this time. Will I probably upgrade in the next 3 years? Yes.

Just saw a Sportster S test ride video..... I saw the speedometer numbers go up and thought holy crap that things fast......then I saw he was riding on the wrong side of the road.......I don't know that it would be as fast as my 1130cc rod

I am going to wait to see if they do something special for their 120th anniversary. The bump from 114 to 117 does nothing for me but then again 107 to 114 never impressed me either. If anything it really seems they have hit a plateau with the M8. They best deal to me is a the base Street Glide with Premium Radio and RDRS and then do a stage 2 torque cam
Change your front and rear suspension and you will be set.

Hey Mike thanks for that video, I just purchased a used 2016 SGS, last October, did quite a few upgrades this winter, but the one that excites is the Stage One, installed a Pro Commander V turner and its getting Dyno tuned as i write this and if it comes back with the horsepower of 92 like yours, well can't agree more with your assessment. Of course mine's not paid for and if it were, oh baby the blue steel CVO street glide, hmm good thing it's not.

@@RidingintheOzarks Hi Mike, picked up bike yesterday from the Tuner, didn't get the 92, but close 88 at 4800rpm good even curve 85 at 4000rpm and stayed closed to peak past 5000, considering it hit the max stock 76hp at 3600 instead of 5000, then that's an healthy increase. But the real story is in the torque, max torque stock is 91 at 3000 stays level to 4000 and starts to drop off. New numbers 114 at 3400 and stays above 110 just past 4000, pulls through every gear. He advanced the spark at idle which smoothed out the roughness at 1500, this was my main concern and reason for completing the stage one, and makes this worth it right there. I am happy with the results and should be good with the stage one for few years. Thanks for your Interest.

I am very impressed with the rear suspension on my 2022 Gunship Grey ST compared to my 21 SGS. The ST seems to soak up road imperfections especially in the rear which makes my old back much happier. The 117 is great and delivers power at higher rpm's which is little different than my SGS's 114. Both bikes are great in different ways, but I find I go straight to my ST when I open the garage.

Your starting point depends totally on what you’re ultimate goal is with the bike doesn’t it? If you’re really into the whole “performance” bagger scene then you really should start with the “performance” option, the ST. If you’re like me and you just want a cool looking Street Glide (that red one is too nice!) and you’re not worried about the biggest engine or farthest lean angle or trying to set land speed records with your touring bike, then the special is truly “special “
But I already got my new bike a few weeks ago so no baggers for me……yet.

  • @hashria

Congratulations on the final payment! Unless you are really itching for the motor change and RDRS there is no real reason to change. You could go with a stage two and new legs front and back and still have a better riding bike with no payment. That’s how I see it.

I dont really need it, 1 of my 3 is a 2021 Street Glide will full stage 1, full Cobra exhaust, not just cans, Screamin' Eagle ventilator air intake, tuner.

Mike, nice for not bragging this ST up as all the other fan bois as a "performance bagger" or mix in KOTB hype.... 👍 Seems all the YT guys drank the HD drink at the track demo (LOL) in AZ. Geez its literally a standard SG, yet these guys going on like its some unbelievable bagger on the track. 👎
A small bump in cubes, throwaway OEM 13" shocks and some goldish cosmetic stuff doesnt suddenly make a special a "performance bagger". At least as far as us west coast guys think. The problem is the HD mark up on these STs on top of that 1600. HD is gonna rake guys on mark up on these STs over MSRP. If youre smart pick up a special and put that savings into an aftermarket build with the good stuff. If youre really smart (Id of if I could start again) spend less, get a Road King and grab a FXRT fairing and build up from there (lighter final build and not a belly button SG or RG).
Keep the 16 for sure, build it and be done with a better bike for less $$ vs starting over with a ST and building (Im biased toward TCs). You already have the shortbags. I have a 16 SG Im almost done with. 124 S&S with usual TTS + intake + D&D + big TB + clutch mods, Ohlins 14" rear and GP 25 mm cartridges front, True tracks + poly mounts, big brake rotor kits and 6 piston calipers, current 19 frt wheel and 18 rr wheels (big improvement in handling), and typical bars and seat upgrades. Things an absolute ripper in the twisties and super happy (as a crotchrocket guy on a bagger) I compare it directly to a sport tourer like a FJR vs a HD. Last mod will be a Baker grudge box.
    Congrats on the payoff! 👍👍

      @RidingintheOzarks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ouch, I can only imagine what theyre asking for those.... LOL, probably another 2k for 1200 shocks. I do like the cosmetic mods on em though. I really dig the fenders, rear lights setup and tri bar delete. My wife doesnt ride anymore so I also dig the solo seat set up. It is another bike I believe HD has fooled folks to pay more for less. Standard bags, solo seat, no rear pegs, all the other stuff is off the shelf stuff HD isnt paying more for. I dont think the MSRP over a standard is bad, Id pay it for the cosmetic mods over the standard.

I’ve got so much invested in my TC motor, suspension, etc… I can’t see ever getting rid of it. If you’re not looking to do any real motor or suspension work, keep the TC.
We’re preparing for Daytona run. Got my bike back together after a little winter maintenance.
I’m still holding out for a fat boy, I’m not willing to get pumped for the surcharge.
The MoCo has about got the M8 debugged, but I’m wondering why they did the oil cap change 🤔. They are truly evolutionary in their design. Many things the government has driven HD to do, aimed at screwing its customers.

also no rear seat no rear pegs and an ugly rear end borrowed from the ultra. I hate to say it you have the one and only 103 stage 1 putting out those happy dyno numbers

Yeah I pinned a comment on the seat, missed the foot pegs, my guy does tunes like this all time, he is very good!

You've obviously been content to ride it long enough to pay it off. Why the f*** wouold you go right back into debt after finally paying off a perfectly good motorcycle regardless of what upgrades they've made?!??! I've been ridin' Harley Davidson motorcycles for 50 years now....you must be outta your damn mind to think I would pay a dime more than $25 k for either of those bikes!! Sorry, they just are not worth that money!! Neither one makes any sense for me....
