Bought this bike on Sunday. Put 400 miles on it so far. This is my first Harley. I came from the Sport Bike world. This bike is so much fun. I know that I don't have a lot to compare to because its my first but I love the lean and yes we had to upgrade the seat but my wife loves the ride as well. I haven't used the single seat yet. The only thing I hate are the handle bars. And thats a simple fix. I don't think I would be happy if the engine were any smaller so I feel like I made the right choice. Great video by the way!
I keep waiting for the first person to do a Smokey and the Bandit tribute on one of those black and gold ST models. The Road Glide ST has plenty of room for someone to do a trans am graphic.
DUDE WHAT A GREAT IDEA WITH THE VIDEOS!! I happen to be a mix of both kinds of people I cut off at the test rides but then other days I would show up just for the test ride.
Thanks for showing us where your leg lands in relation to the air intake 👍been curious about that for a while. I totally dig the bronze trim by rocker boxes. Nice work on the video!!
New usb charges the phone just fine while in use as well I haven’t had any issues. Phone always stays charged. On a 2020 SGS. Now off to a 2022 Road Glide Cvo blue steel !! Thanks for videos.
Nice bike for sure but I dont know why you would pay 30k for it. If you want to tour mainly its ultra limited all day. With the detach kit for the tour pack that's the bang for the buck IMO
Took me about 2 weeks after launch to trade my 2018 streetglide special. For me it was an upgrade but if you got a 2019-2021 streetglide special. Theres no need to upgrade. Just save your money for a motor and suspension upgrade.
At 17:30, Harley has surely messed up in the website because in theory the ST will have a slightly better lean angle compared to the special. I’m fond of superbikes and the reason they have more lean angle for knee drags is because their ground cleared is much higher than harleys
I'm guessing this will sell well. For the older performance guys like me, we will always go with the bigger bores and high end suspensions. But the younger guys coming into baggers will probably dig this. Yes, it should have came with a performance suspension, but it probably would have been a stretch price wise for that buyer. I mean these things are over $30 grand now, so retail pricing was likely a big factor in the configuration it was leaving the factory in.
I test rode one of these a few weeks back and a week later I bought one in black. This bike was night and day compared to my 2016 Road Glide with the twin cam 103. The M8 117 in this bike really gets this thing moving, you can pass on the highway in any gear, the thing really flies. All I'm going to do is put some 14 inch ape hanger handlebars on and some slip-on mufflers and that's it; the bike will be complete in my opinion and I won't have to do any type of engine mods.😁👍
Look guys I love my harley but these guys have to come to terms that these prices aren't for the honest working man These are the guys that help make you
With the new smaller front fender it is going to allow road debris such as small pebbles and water to get all clogged up in the oil radiator. Don't you see that as a problem and one should perhaps put the Special front fender on so it protects things better?
Great review! As you say, it’s disappointing that it only has a solo seat. A pillion seat also enables soft bags to be carried, which would certainly make it more useable for touring.
Yes a good Video, take delivery of mine on 4/30/22 . The Primary is the angle restriction, that is why a 1 deg. difference side to side. THE HEIGHT would have to be dramatically higher to help with clearance. Increased height gives more suspension which gives a better ride. Thanks for the video.
I will be adding a seat to mine and adding pegs for a passenger. I will do a lot of miles away from home on it. The first thing I did was add pegs for me and some 12” apes. The comfort has to come first before I add the slip ons. After watching many reviews on different exhausts, I think TAB wins out when I do do it.
I have a touring HD Ultra. But even if I didn't I would buy the Street Glide ST. I'm gonna go pick one up soon as I get home from offshore. They put a Saddle men two up with back rest and pegs. I really only plan on riding solo and sometimes with wife on date nights 🌙 😊
That is weird. Road Glide ST and Special are the same way in the website. Interestingly the Standard Street Glide and Road Glide have less of a lean angle than the Specials and the STs. Wouldn't be able to tell if there is a difference without riding both back to back
Harley is doing a good job at getting younger people into the touring bikes. I’m 33 and I’m absolutely in love with it. I currently own a Dyna low rider S with the 110. This is going to be my next bike.
Excellent review of the Street Glide ST, would I buy one, in a word 'Yes' love the looks including the new rear light cluster, only thing I'd add would be a Stage 1 to add some noise , other than that I'd change nothing.
I ride weekends locally and do a state to state run several times a year. For me personally, Id buy the ST. I dont ride a passenger anyway but everything else is there. I do agree, about bumping up the suspension and seat, for me would be all I need and want.. I probably would also throw a set of tab slip ons on as well. Done and done. Maybe Im over simplifying things but that is jus me.
I also do work for a power sports dealership and I'm starting to see metric bikes that sell for less than 12k come with all LED lighting. Sad for sure..
@@throttleblip9854 lol…true! Dude, I just had my local H-D dealer (Lowcountry H-D) install a Moons MC headlight and that thing is unreal - crazy bright! It’s a shame that LEDs aren’t standard across the range because, if nothing else, they’re SAFE. I get that we all have to go aftermarket for things like seats, luggage, sissy bars, etc., but give us the norm, FFS.
Performance bagger, sport tourer and KOTB mentioned with this bike is definitely a strech HD. A small bump in cubes, throwaway oem 13" shocks and some cosmetic stuff doesnt magically transform a special FL into something it isnt. That said, cosmetically I do prefer the looks. Love both fenders and rear lights ( HATE the altezza style LED, looks like the 90s ricer fads), but wish it was a standard old school red lens. Love the tri bar delete ( HATE the reflectors & those would be gone that day). All in all, HD has again found a way to charge more for less IMHO and fool folks otherwise. In addition to the addl MSRP bump, you can bet there will be crazy dealer mark up on these STs. My built 16 Streetglide isnt going anywhere, but for sure if I was gonna buy a new bagger for a real performance bagger build base..... It would definitely be a standard to build or Road King with a FXRT fairing put on it and spending all those thousands I saved and didnt throw away on a ST for the good stuff and aftermarket. Each his own on their path to a build.
I like the bike for the most part, however I am a big fan of the rear lighting on my 2021 special better, and maybe it's just me, but I'm not a huge fan of how far the exhaust sticks out past the bags. I know that can be changed, as I did on my special, but I wish they would make it flush from the factory. Just my two cents.
Just picked up one of these today. 22 model run out sale. Most of my riding is done on one day around 600 kilometres intending to do a 8000 kilometre ride shortly I will let you if you are interested know what happens and any issues with the bike
Im with you on the fact that taller = higher lean angle. I took a Pan America for real sport touring, but if I was shopping for a bagger, it would be an ST, but my lady rides her own Fat Boy.
Great review of going over everything! Bike is overpriced for just adding a 117. My first impression was these bikes came with the Ohlins Suspension, but they don't. So, whoever buys this bike is basically buying a special with shorter bags and some bronze accents. Those bags with the reflectors...looks like they just changed the hinges for the EGS bags and threw them on this bike. It's advertised as performance, but nothing performance is on this bike but a bigger motor to start with that still needs work. Suspension is the same as a 2014 and later touring bike nothing new. Once again great review!
Incorrect. This bike has the new, hydraulic suspension. The rider can adjust the suspension via a toggle on the bars. This suspension serves as a stiffer, more performance style ride; as advertised.
My RG ST is on a truck and should be in any day now. Trading my 2019 RGS. Only trading in because I am getting close to 40k miles on her and want to trade while the value is still good.
Hi Bro, this is a awesome review. After a Super Glide, a Street Bob and a Fat Bob, could this be the next one. The combination of driving dynamic and comfort, is exactly what I‘m looking for. I have booked a test-drive for end March and then we will see. Greetings and best wishes from N.Germany. Tommy
Cool bike. I would definitely consider it as a local ride or regional ride if I was in the market for a motorcycle. If I was going to do some serious riding and had a committed passenger I would look more towards a Limited.
Great review! I'll stick with my Road King Special though :) I think the bike would have to be significantly taller to increase lean angle in a meaningful way. I believe it's not only height but the stiffness of suspension that allows for greater lean angles. Also pipes and floor boards will need to be moved further up. That's why I think these "performance" baggers are more of a gimmick. Harley is selling mostly the look. Still like'm though :)
no music, nav, or protection in bad weather. I had a road king classic. I have to have music and nav. I don't have that much on my mind to think about on some long azz trip.
Wheels are beautiful, air cleaner looks stupid, 6'4" would hit that with my chin. I've also never liked any HD fairing.. so much, so I'm about to bust our fiberglass and cad.. cardboard. Got the street bob 114, sportster bars.. my last bike was an 07 r6.. and 83 750 honda magna.. Harleys are hot rods, I can completely understand one with power.
I been waiting for a good review of the oxymoron you called, a good portrayal in your video , first good review for such beauty, fan of this new model and your channel , you even beat Laidlaw's review keep up the good work sir
I agree...if you're going to do day long touring on this bike, you'll have to make a change with the seat especially if you're two up. If you are HP guy/gal, I could see going this route to get the 117 and making the seat change vs. getting the Special and doing performance upgrades. Nice review and look forward to the comparison. FYI - I have a 16' Road Glide Ultra that I'm thinking of trading for a Street Glide Special or ST.
Exactly right. I have to feel like almost everyone with a Street Glide will have a passenger at some point. Interesting that you're leaving the Ultra platform. Would love your feedback on why you're switching. It may highlight some thing for people trying to decided between the 2 bikes.
@@throttleblip9854 The Ultra platform is best bang for the buck in a bagger, for sure, and I haven't totally ruled another one out. I'm turning 62 next month and want something lighter. That would be the only reason to go to a Special model. I do ride two up sometimes so I have to get my GF to buy in to not having the top case. If I stay with the Ultra platform I will more than likely get the detachable hardware for the top case to remove it when she's not with me. Going with the Special, giving up the top case and lowers will save some significant weight. Almost a 100 lbs. difference according to HD website. However, looking at what more you get with the Ultra for a little extra coin, it's a tough decision.
Well I'd say it's probably a typo there probably is better lean angle on this bike. As far as what I would use it for I would definitely use it for ripping definitely big one day ride because typically that's all I have time for and this would be a real great one day rider especially around here in Tennessee and mountains of Tennessee. And if I got invited on a tour I take it. I'm too cheap to buy fancy seats so I would just live with it. Also I hardly ever get anybody to ride with me so I wouldn't need a pillion setup. Thanks for the review keep it up
Harley is taking everyone for a ride with this ST model. It is nothing more than a Street Glide Special with a 117 engine. They actually saved a little money by taking away a few things that you would normally get with the Street Glide Special. The ST model lost the rear passenger seat and rear pegs. You also get shorter saddlebags. The front gold wheel is the same Street Glide Special wheel but painted gold. Suspension is the same but adjusted slightly higher by one inch. Brakes are the same. Bars same, Fairing same. Everything else is identical to the original Street Glide Special with the exception of the 117 engine. So in reality you are paying just for the 117 upgrade. And losing a few things in the process. $27,500 vs $30,000. If you already have a SGS with some engine mods to it, keep it. It's probably a better, faster bike anyway. Love Harleys, and have owned a bunch of Street Glides and Road Glides, but this is smoke and mirrors. To get it anywhere close to performance bagger status, you'll still need to upgrade suspension, brakes, exhaust, etc. Now you're looking at closer to $40,000 by the time you're done.
I would have rather seen the 114 in it and have it come with those öhlins piggy back shocks and some upgraded internals in the front. Inverted front end would have been nice but I know I’m asking a lot on that one. My thought process is you can do the 117 upgrade for a lot cheaper than you can do front and rear suspension. No bike is a performance bike without really good suspension.
Nice looking Scoot! Love the Street Glides, BUT Harley KILLS me when they don't finish the Special and now the ST. WHY would Harley NOT put on the BLACK Jiffy stand from the factory? They sell them, so put it on the bike from the factory and raise the MSRP accordingly! Don't make the customer do it! MY opinion of course. Thanks
Love the bike and I am considering trading my Ultra Limited on one but I am torn. If I got one I would have to set it up for two up riding. If my calculations are correct, I could buy a Street Glide Standard and throw on a 128 kit and upgrade the infotainment system for around the same price. Decisions decisions. Thanks for the review.
Only the cost is prohibitive for me… as you rightly said Harley should have given the passenger pegs and that new performance two up seat with this bike at this high price…why does Harley-Davidson do this …
@Buddy what can 110 hp with 400 kg and a mediocre suspension do mate….these bikes unless heavily modified cannot do those tricks in the bagger racing …these are just good looking torque monsters for a bit of fun on the road and long distance touring with a pillion or not( a good thing which I agree and love )….for the money you pay I think a passenger peg and performance new two up seat ( check the new Harley-Davidson catalogue) is good….
Great review, Blair. This is not my bike, though. Too many compromises in just one bike. Big engine is the best I can say about this bike. The reflectors on the panniers are a joke. I know why they put them there but there must be a better, cleaner way to address the legal requirement some states have. The seat is a joke, the air cleaner is an embarrassment. No way not touching the nozzle when using highway pegs not to talk about just resting the feet on the floorboards. ST equals performance? Fine by me. But then the price has to be below the FLHXS. Just my .02$. Ride safe 🤙
Oh yeah the air cleaner with highway pegs would definitely be an issue. I didn't even think about that. I don't see the person that buys this bike being a distance rider even though it is a touring bike. As far as price I think it should be more than the special. My thinking is that you can do a seat and passenger pegs cheaper than you can do the 117 on a special model.
The tail light is not appealing... just the same as the Electra glide or the early street glide. Plus the red reflectors should be or should have been functional turn signals deleting the bullet turn signals. Sn: touring? Limited bag space, rock throwing fender, no 2up, and would look ugly with tour pak it's a no go for touring. imo
HARLEY DAVIDSON has come a long way in a short time with newer models and big bad better horsepower. This is riding people something you can take a weekenders or a week long trip. I come from sport bikes where you wanna get off the dang thing in an hour.
I’m sticking with my RK Special. This bike or any ST is really not set up for or intended for touring. In my opinion, the additional cost is not worth the minimal power gain. Bottom line, it’s a bar hopper for a waxer with $$ to burn to try and impress some chick. Old school guys like me ain’t buying that.
Yeah I get the solo seat for looks but anyone on a SG is gonna want to ride a passenger. I feel like full Öhlins front and rear would have been more appealing to me than just the 117 alone. We can add power much cheaper than we can do suspension.

It wasn't the king of the baggers that started the movement. The moment made king of the baggers possible. It's been going on for a long time.
The most thorough review for potential buyers that I’ve seen so far!

Look at the rake angle. Maybe they dropped the front end to increase turn in. And adversely traded off lean angle
is there anywhere I can get that front fender? you think it will fit on a 2020 road king
With the new smaller front fender it is going to allow road debris such as small pebbles and water to get all clogged up in the oil radiator. Don't you see that as a problem and one should perhaps put the Special front fender on so it protects things better?

Popsicle taillights ftw, all our Harley’s in Canada are born like that
Lean angle depends on the length of the shock 12" or 13".
Mid frame heat deflectors on this bike and not on any other street glide?

I get so tired of hearing myself talk I couldn't bring myself to say it! hahaha good catch though!
That touch screen is 🔥
I agree...if you're going to do day long touring on this bike, you'll have to make a change with the seat especially if you're two up.
Good job and thank you for the details.
Much appreciated!!
Thanks for the review keep it up
Would love to have one and I just purchase a 2015 street glide so guess I'm stuck there for now 😂😂😂
I had the 15. Not a bad bike by any means! Do a stage 2 if you haven't already and you'll love it!
New too harley bikes I have ridden sport bikes since I started riding so definitely different but i absolutely love it
Harley is taking everyone for a ride with this ST model.
Just put my deposit down on one of these. Let's see how long it takes to get
On the next one your dealership gets? That MIGHT be able to do a dealer trade for one but prob hard to talk another dealership out of it.
Congratulations though!
Love my air temp. Cigar lighter ,
I dont smoke cigars , , usb power supply off my tender lead
@Buddy Neither was my Lowrider S when I bought it but it is now.
@Buddy all good… good for you
Why not travel on it? It's a street glide touring bike with a cvo motor.
Fast Johnny Collection!!!
Cool fact: The tank logo is vintage, copied from the 1900's H-D dirt track racers.
Awsome head light . Just whamd it on my 99 T.C .
I just want to hear that bad ass motor!
Looks better with conventional taillight on st
you know you have a 12volt dc outlet if you need more charging power.
👍👍👍
Too bad they’re 30 grand and you have to pay extra for gunship gray. Lol.
The tail light is not appealing... just the same as the Electra glide or the early street glide. Plus the red reflectors should be or should have been functional turn signals deleting the bullet turn signals.
Sn: touring? Limited bag space, rock throwing fender, no 2up, and would look ugly with tour pak it's a no go for touring. imo
Ya Baby! That is one sexy tail end! Non stretched bags and clean rear fender. MMMMMM
That seat looks uncomfortable as fuck. Like seriously Harley does know men can be taller then 5ft5 right?
Great review. Bought mine with the help of this video. Thanks bro and I hope you can check out the channel.
Playback speed 1.25x
You’re welcome
Sorry man , not a big fan.
l do touring on this l dont mild
Bro, stop saying, “BO-UUTTT”. I had to stop the video after the 6th our 7th time. I’ll never watch another video of yours again.
