I bought the SG ST a year back. I love it. I put a S&S 2 into 1 pipe on it and had it dyno tuned and it transformed it. Stock tune runs lean and hot. It regularly went into parade mode at the lights. With the pipe and tune it runs cooler and really hauls. When the tach hit's 3200 the 117 character changes completely and it goes nuts. I also have a Heritage with a 114 and it's a completely different animal. I put a lot of it down to the bigger cam that the 117 runs. My biggest criticism is the stock seat. It sucks. I have a CVO seat on for round town and a Tall boy seat for long runs and it's much better.
Great Informative Video. My previous motorbike was a 2006 Sportster 1200XLC (Yes a girls bike!). It was a great commuter and easy to ride. I now have a 2016 Street Glide Special and I just love my touring. I'm still learning, even after two years to control the bike when travelling at slower speeds. Mucking around with the Friction Zone and the Rear Brake is fun and a worthwhile skill to master. Wish this rain would shoot off! Cheers.
Great video good content,I used to Japanese bikes but slowly getting used to my 2021 Sport Glide but being a smaller rider it taking me long time getting used to it
The SG and RG Specials were designed to give the bike a lowered look. This may have gone out of style with the advent of the "performance bagger", but not for me. I'm way too old to take 900 pounds (that's like a billion Kilos) to the track. I do like the King of the Baggers race series. It's close racing, entertaining and Harley and Indian are duking it out. Thanks for another great video and very happy to see Harley let you have the bike for a week. Nice !
If you get an opportunity to ride the new CVO Street Glide do so. The drawer in the fairing easily holds your phone and the 121 VVT is a game changer. Plus the integrated LEDs in the front of the Batwing look amazing. Cheers! 🍺
Great review. In my opinion, going back to the cable clutch was a good move. My 18' Road Glide had a hydraulic clutch, and I didn't like it at all. It was probably the biggest reason I was never fully comfortable on it.
Great video. Did you notice any difference between this bike and yours when going through the twisties since the suspension is different? Was it a big difference in your opinion? I personally noticed quite a bit of difference.
Couldn’t help but notice your map show “Arthur’s Seat Rd” ,Edinburgh Scotland has an extinct volcano called Arthur’s Seat ,legend has it King Arthur and his Knights are asleep under the mountain.🤴Ps good vid ,lovely bike.
@@OldNotDead-Club I should explain - I liked the way you broke it down - Wasn't like a 'normal' review . I should add that I ride a SG myself - so I was invested in your thoughts on the new variant.
It's actually the trail that dictates the unwillingness of a bike to steer at speed. HD and others have done tricks at the steering head in the past that gives the bike a longer rake (for style) while actually limiting the trail increase to make them easier to steer at speed. The reason I'm reiterating "at speed" will be clear to you if you ever ride a chopper. Their forks flop about unwieldy at low speeds. The faster you go, the harder all bikes become to steer. In physics, it's called inertia. Mass * velocity. The bigger it is, the harder it is to get a body to change direction. The race rep isn't unstable at the track speeds it was designed to run at. They're twitchy (unstable) riding around at street speeds. Conversely, riding a bagger around at race speeds is about like taking a Mac truck. Wider handlebars help with that. More torque. Unlike your notion that this is something akin to power, it's not. You are not any stronger because you have wider handlebars (or bigger gear ratios). You have to move them further than you would shorter bars to get the same reaction, but as it doesn't require a lot of movement to get a bike to flop over in a corner, it's a good trade off if you're not lane splitting. 126 ft*lbs @ 3750 rpms tells you the bike make 90 hp at that rpm. That's its strength at that particular rpm. The gear ratios dictate the torque to speed choices you have to put that strength from tire to pavement. The strength is what it is at that rpm i.e. 90 hp regardless of what gear (torque selector) you engage...which is still very good for an air cooled v-twin. Nothing about painting every inch of a bike screams HD to me. You will find no such homeliness in their design heritage. Willie G probably has to blindfold himself if he feels that he's about to be shown one of these "modern" styles. It mostly screams HD is now too cheap to provide chrome plating or paint with pigment.
My ST has the RDRS system. I think it's standard on this model in Australia. It performs linked braking. If you stomp on the rear brake the system also applies the front brakes and vice versa. It's a great system. I also really like the hill hold especially when loaded down with luggage and a pillion.
Fair Dinkum information brother 😝👍 Do you play guitar & sing ??? You have a great tone in your voice 👍 John Laws eat ya heart out 🤣 Radio would suit you also , Cheers from steve in Bundaberg Qld 🇭🇲🍹🕺
@@OldNotDead-Club Thank you. I am 6'8, or 203 CM, and I ride a 2014 Vmax. Which is kind of perfect for my height. But the local Harley dealer have gotten their hands on a Street glide ST with only 1500KM on it. So I am really intrigued.
I took a test ride on one of those and realised leaving the parking lot that it would take to many upgrades to get this bike to feel like a Harley. Felt like I was on a honda
I dont know whats wrong with me, but i dont like farings, i dont like loud or any music when riding. My phone is turned off and only goes on if i call my wife or an emergency. I like a gas gauge, speedometer, like to know RPM’s. I prefer the signal switches on one side and on the left. I love loud pipes. I only use paper maps. I love a rider backrest. Really helps to relax. I have-a kuryakan passenger back rest that folds down to be a rider backrest. Totally adjustable. With luggage on it folds back up and luggage. Is more secure and the luggage becomes my backrest. However, i am very old and probably stuck in my ways. And there are millions of road and street glides out there which i have tested. Not for me. But ride on everybody, ride on.

Good choice!

Fantastic bike.
Certainly is! Thanks for watching

Of course it is. Suspension, power, and less weight. I've owned all touring models and HD finally dialed it in.
Thanks
I agree
I'm so wanting a bigger bike now especially after this video clip 🙂. Another great educational review!

Thanks Karyn

Solid overview of the ST. Thank you,

Im super happy with my m8. It is stage 4 with the 515 cam, but its a great motor even stock.
Kool review and can relate to the information better than others I've seen on UT cheers.
Thanks
Great video. Did you notice any difference between this bike and yours when going through the twisties since the suspension is different? Was it a big difference in your opinion? I personally noticed quite a bit of difference.
In a previous video I put a friends new, not required,ST suspension on my bike. So they felt very similar.
I love my ST except for the seat air cleaner and suspension. But the idea is to upgrade and love it
Love the channel amen 🙏 from the UK 🇬🇧
Thank you
Another great video sir,
Wondering how long it will take Harley to ask for their bike back!?? lol (I would ghost them for about a year!)
Lol, you and me both!
Great job, mate!
Thanks mate
I have a 23 SG ST as well. I got a reach seat from Bad Boyz Cycles, as I’m 6’3. It helped with interference of the air cleaner and my right leg
Thanks for watching
I'm 6'1" and went with the Tall boy seat. It sits me back a bit further and the air cleaner is no bother to my leg.
Enjoeyd it.
Does a phone really fit in that little compartment? Does it have wirelss changing in there? Will itbwork with waze too?
Yes, easily fits the end just sticks out bit it's held well. Yes it charges the phone.
