I don't know if bear is still considered flagship, but I have a bear royale, and tbh, I hate it, the peep didn't come tied in, the sight was mounted upside down, and it blew up the first time I shot it, the only reason i still use it is that my pro shop fixed it up pretty well
@imfamous_garbage1213 Not sure what kind of frame you have, but the Bear Royale is a youth bow made for young children. Not saying it's impossible to shoot, but you'd be way more successful with a bow that fits
Great video! I have been shooting archery since 16 years of age and mostly compound bows. I’m now 48 and it blows my mind how everyone runs after the big “name brands” like sheep. Mathews, Hoyt, PSE, Bowtech and Bear. Bear for me has always been a competitor but that’s just my opinion. I guess all the mounts and racks that I have speak for themselves. Every bow shoots and every bow kills, always remember that. The big names like Mathews are all hype, advertising and marketing, nothing more nothing less. One brand of bow that I have shot faithfully over the years that everyone seems to overlook is a small company named “High Country Archery”. I have an “All-Carbon” bow from High Country Archery hanging in my basement that I purchased and started shooting in 2003, looooooong before any of these other BIG name companies even thought about an all carbon riser. Most people don’t even know that. It was a great shooting bow, it was feather light and you could spin it like a basket ball on one finger. I smoked a lot of animals with that bow. It’s now a retired relic in my personal bow museum but still shoots just as good as it did 20 years ago. I also have the a number of other High Country bows like the “Katana” which was a mini bow that could be shot sitting down in the tightest tree stand conditions imaginable. I also took a lot of deer and bear with the High Country Katana. I stayed away from all of the big brand names on purpose because they were mostly selling expensive dreams and nothing more. The only big name brand bow that I ever purchased was the Mathews Switchback XT because I wanted to try it. I can honestly say that to date Mathews has never duplicated or surpassed the Switchback XT. The Switchback XT was a very fast hard-hitting deadly accurate bow that was a pleasure to shoot but I went right back to High Country. I still shoot High Country and I also shoot Bowtech. Bowtech has never been given the full recognition that other big name brands have been given and they are also excellent bows. I also have the Diamond “Black Ice” by Bowtech which is another much older bow and it still draws and shoots smooth like butter. All I can say is don’t get sucked into the hype, the marketing and the advertising. Shoot whatever bow works for you. The younger guys always want the newest bow that’s out or the one that their buddy has and that’s great news for the manufacturers but not always the smartest or most cost-effective approach. The new Phase 4 by Mathews has options for all Mathews products like the Mathews stabilizer, Mathews V-bar and Mathews everything else. By the time you are done your at $3500.00 fully loaded. I’m sorry but that’s just utterly ridiculous in my opinion, archery should not necessarily break the bank.
Bowtech ss34 is a winner this year for me. I love the longer ata on it. And the string angle is perfect. It's a couple inches bigger than I would prefer for whitetail but I love it.
Solid list! Fan of the Era, Phase 4, and some of the tech in APA, i went with the SS34 this year! Amazing draw cycle even on performance, it sends my 470 gr arrow in the mid 280's fps. Super dead in the hand with bars. And crazy stable! Cant go wrong with BT!
Can't argue with the list. Glad the Execute made the video. I don't have it but shoot the Bear Escalate. Has some similar goodies. It is an awesome bow. Light and balanced, very smooth draw and shot cycle, and the back wall is completely solid. Assuming the Execute would be the same and probably even better. I over looked Bear until I checked out the Escalate. Very happy with my purchase and don't feel like I need to upgrade anytime soon. A company definitely worth consideration. Previously shoot PSE.
I still shoot a bear legion 60 lb bow. I shoot at 50 pound with 27 in draw. Getting old ain't for sissies shoot 480 spine 29 in. 355 weight . Not the bow just the shooter make the difference. Practice
I have a Bear Moment, Refine, and an Execute 32 and minus the tuning parts and pic mounts they're as good as anything out there. Very solid hard hitting accurate bows.
Don't think there's a bad bow out there nowadays. Some could not care less for carbon and all the integrated accessories which just drives the price to ridiculous levels. None of that leads to more accuracy. No doubt the newer tuning systems are nice but completely not necessary. Regular folks can spend a good bit less and still have a great shooting bow, actually as good as any other. Great time for the sport.
I disagree. A carbon bow is easier to hold in cold weather and way lighter. My shot has gotten much crisper on a cool day and my groups are tight because my bow doesn’t have any extra weight even with the quiver on my Hoyt. It only weighs 5 pounds. Unless you’ve had a carbon bow, you wouldn’t know.
Hoyt didn’t change much this year, but they should have kicked the revex off the list. Way better accessories and integrated accessory options. Great draw cycle also.
Xlite is a fantastic bow by xpedition I shot all of the top flagship bows this year and I’ll tell ya I shopped xpedition last and I couldn’t get my hands off it this is a must try bow please prime has fantastic models out as well don’t sleep on them either Revex did fantastic as well and this is coming from a New England hunter that takes pride in his brush these two bows out performed everything in all elements for me but great top 5 over all 👍
@@MikesArchery I put more weight on it so I didn't mind. I understand people think carbon bows should be lighter but im ok with heavier bows.I had a Mathews helium that was 3.5 pounds and I had a horrible time shooting it I don't understand why people want light bows.
I decided to add the RX-7 Ultra to my arsenal this year. I also have a standard RX-7 that I love to death. I felt that the Ultra has a slightly more forgiving draw cycle compared to the standard and looking to use it on a Wyoming elk hunt this year, then when I come back to Minnesota I can utilize my standard RX-7 in the saddle. I really enjoy shooting them and will satisfied with them for the long term foreseeable future. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I don't think it's a bad list. A lot of great bows being put out these days. I would tweak it a bit, and remove any bear bow from being mentioned in a top list, they just don't have it for the price point they are putting bows out at now. If they were sub $900 for those same bow, then yeah, a nice bonus bow to the list. The carbon Elite is a nice attempt at a first carbon bow, but the brace height kills it. If it had the specs of the Omnia, would have been perfect. The Hoyt VTM 34 is one of the best bows out there this year from a performance and shootability standpoint. They didn't change a lot of features, but didn't really need to. Their shim system is as good as Mathews, they feature inline accessory mounts, and offer a better draw cycle than the Mathews. The PSE Mach 34 and Levitate are easily the best of the carbon lot from weight and performance. The Bowtechs in the CP30, SS34, and SX80 are phenomenal bows, after you replace the strings and cables on them.
I’ve shot Mathews for years and still have a vxr but have moved back to bear. they make a great bow 99% of the time you can get a bear bow for way under msrp. Anymore the prices of these others are getting out of hand jist my opinion
I think Bear is the BEST at price points. Nothing competes with their midrange lineup and the Execute was my 3rd favorite bow behind the SS34 and Omnia.
@@PhotoBob I haven’t got to shoot the execute but I did shoot the refine and I liked it quite well. Do to getting older and and a shoulder injury I picked up a single cam bear resurgence ld on sale for 275$ and for the $ you can’t beat it. I’ll probably put the vxr up for sale soon
Im looking for a new bow and im not huge into it and ive watched several of your videos i like the phase 4 29 and the bowtech cp28 and ive looked at several others but i just cant make up my mind
I just got my first deer/buck with a 2014 carbon cure! I want a nice bow but it’s nice in the fact I spent less then 600 dollars on everything to get my first trophy/ fridge filler
Everyone talks this eko cams up! I wish I would have got the whitetail legend pro instead of the whitetail legend. I was a noob and now I wanna upgrade . 😂

@@muleybuckco I have a reckoning 35 the athens is a better bow. Bowtech has the adjustment features but the finishes are garbage. Also no pic rail. The bowtech is a good shooter its just not as good as the athens.
So happy with the Elite, highly recommend it.
I think a man can pick a manufacturer he likes and theyll have a model youll like. Dont think theres a bad flagship out there
I agree!

@imfamous_garbage1213 every manufacturer has a flagship bow (top model). For Bear, that would be the Execute (Double Royale w/ Cheese).

@@loserjw91can the let off be adjusted to mostly eliminate that last little hump when the cams turn over?
@@jameshunt7972 Yes you can adjust from 75-90% let off. I always set up at 75 if available if not 80% let off is all I want. Helps me hold steady.
good video! as someone who is just getting into bow hunting this is super helpful. Also, love the beard!
Thx for this! I have an Elite Era in order. It’s about 3 weeks out. I just can’t get enough of the customization in it and the Omnia.

I've shot a lot of the new bows and haven't found anything that would make me give up my rx5 ultra!
