The reason I have found that makes it so difficult to stand up against narcissists is because of their level of commitment to maintaining their power and public image. when it comes to remaining in control of their victim they are absolute extremists. They just don't like manipulating and abusing it's a requirement . Life is just not worth living without the power to manipulate, abuse and to think they appear perfect to the outside world. This makes them a formidable enemy. Failure is not an option. They will take risks and go to lengths most of us don't understand. They are fanatics. Most victims have no understanding of what these monsters are willing to do. This is why so many of us remain prisoners for decades. Every attempt to stand up for our selves is met with a overwhelming retaliation. These people absolutely follow through with their threats. After awhile many victims begin to view the narcissist as all powerful and unbeatable. There is a way out. Don't fight face to face. You can't win this kind of fight. Instead secretly plan your escape. leave without warning. Get far away. let your lawyer fight them. Yes they will try to take whatever they can from you but they can't stop you from living a better life. Don't live in fear. Just leave.

Yes indeed. Narcissists are also very selective of their targets, and their motivations include protecting a deeply inherent sense of shame, which includes hiding it behind a false public image. In the end, all bullies are cowards deep down, and they do give up sometimes. It's difficult to stand up to a narcissist especially if we were raised to give in or avoid conflict. So you're correct, persistent fighting the right way will eventually cause a narcissistic situation to collapse. Other times, just getting out if possible is the way. Thank you for inspiring me to think about this.

@@danielkaiser8971… interesting that you mention avoiding conflict but so many narcissists are all about conflict. Are you describing a covert narcissist or a way to get a narcissist to narcissist to back down?

They have motor mouth. They are committed to spewing whatever twisted form of reality they can. They think the more they can run the conversation and get out there the more in the right they are. It’s exhausting getting your point of view out there while they are running block. Most people just avoid them and the narc wins. When normal people just don’t want to deal with them.

Absolutely correct. Dominance over others and over situations is a very common method used by narcissists to stay in control and manipulatively exhaust others into submission.

So what happens if you a victim that didn’t have narcissism in your childhood yet have been traumatized by the men in their adult life who were many various forms of narcissists that had problematic childhoods of trauma themselves

Each individual is responsible for their own choices and behaviors. We must heal ourselves in adulthood and become better people, and we are responsible for stopping the cycle of abuse that passes down from one generation to the next. We are responsible only for ourselves and our own life in this respect, and so are all other adults for their own life.

The trauma in your narcs childhood is not your problem. If you start to see them as injured innocents you get deeper into their trap. They made their choices, you make yours. This guy is not on track.
