      @@3lo196 actually he has no clue what he is talking about. First you do not need to dissolve the cell structures, instead you break them open using sonication or silicate. Second, when doing large scale, you do not do batches, you do continuous flow systems. A variable geometry auger will compress CO2 to super critical pressures. Third, 5,000 psi is nothing. My engineering apprenticeship was at the company that created waterjets, think 120,000 to 200,000 psi, 25-40 times the pressure he is talking about. Lastly he needs to figure out his solubility issues. Is he looking for polar extraction, non-polar, both, what are the fractions in the solvents at the temp/pressure curve. It really sounds like he is buying equipment in China and rebadging it and marketing it via Google translate.

    Good information but also pretty clear this company doesn't supply CO2 equipment, hence the fairly clear bias against CO2 technologies. Its important to remember for ethanol and hydrocarbon extraction that its not only the equipment that has to be build to the explosion safety requirements for the solvent but the entire environment and even the building the equipment is placed in. Although cost of equipment may be lower for ethanol and hydrocarbon extraction systems you may find yourself paying for this in your building design. However, he is correct that even if you use CO2 you will find yourself using large amounts of ethanol during the winterization process so the explosion requirements will likely still apply if you choose CO2 extraction.
    Not:, i don't sell equipment I use it, and all technologies have their benefits and drawbacks. I am in R&D for a medicinal cannabis company specializing in the extraction and purification process. Take caution when receiving advice from manufacturers especially if they dont sell the full suite of extraction technologies (CO@, ethanol, hydrocarbon).

    It's rare for a person to have the scientific knowledge and ability that Mr. Tennant has and to also possess the ability to simplify the explanation so that the non-scientist can understand and learn. I was looking for exactly what was presented - what the difference is between CO2 and solvent extraction -- and is CO2 safer. Safer meaning many companies market their CBD saying that CO2 is the safest and all processes with solvents are unsafe because of residuals that are then contained in the final product. Thank you for such an informative presentation and for addressing some of the myths that have been generated in the field.
    Now I'm on to learning about Propylene Glycol vs Vegetable Glycol

      never cut with PG or vegetable oil to make a cart work please! Also co2 always needs alcohol for the winterization process. Co2 and ethanol are both solvents. When done correct solvents like butane are purged and Not detectable

    • @MatanuskaHIGH
      @MatanuskaHIGH 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I manage and extract at a lab that does butane/propane , Co2, ethanol and distillate. They all test solvent free when done being processed 🤷‍♂️. Co2 is great for terps though. For crude it’s just easier to run decarbed material and get better yields and do simple winterize than turn to distillate and re add the Co2 cannabis derived terps. Ethanol takes way more post processing to make into a project. That being said if you can lock water solubles in frozen state at -80+ you can extract ethanol and pull minimal fats and waxes. I’ve made diamonds and sugar wit ethanol that rivals some butane extracts and even had amazing flavor and terps. But I’m a butane guy. Hydrocarbons do better job of grabbing the goods without pulling water solubles like chlorophyll

    I use 151 rum to make a cannabis tincture is small personal-size batches. I bake the flowers first before combining with the ethanol in a small pickle jar. The baking, if done correctly, decarboxylates the flowers and gets rid of the chlorophyll. I leave the cannabis in the jar with the ethanol and spoon out whatever dose I desire. When the potency drops, I drain the ethanol and run the leftover plant matter through a potato ricer to extract whatever goodness remains. I used to use 151 Everclear, but I can no longer get that in California.
    I have been able to make an ounce of flowers last 16 weeks with this method. Great pain remedy.

A simple rig made of thick glass or PVC to hold the cannabis, coffee, sassafras root or vanilla beans for extraction is cost effective and easy to maintain and produces a pure product with good flavor.

    • @nicktennant7458
      @nicktennant7458 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most extractors take the path of least resistance. Because almost all oil is decarboxylated post primary extraction, the low residual ethanol is chalked up as a loss and evaporated during decarb. This would make transesterification potentially viable but unpractical for this application.

    I’m planning on launching a cbd oil company. I’m a budding student ready to start a business. But, can someone tell me which mode of extraction will be best suitable for it!?

    I was just diagnosed with head and neck cancer for the second time. I am rejecting medical methods this time around. I am going to attempt to shrink my tumor naturally and at least maintain a quality of life that will not be possible if I were to go through the surgical plan they laid out for me. I need help finding researchers and organizations that might aid me in my battle against cancer. I have an incredible will. I just need a little direction and support. Any suggestions or contacts you could recommend would be a great comfort. I am at the beginning of this journey, I was diagnosed on the 19th of July. I am open to all suggestions. Thank you, you do amazing work.

    Interesting concept , chilled Alcohol as a solvent.
    I used to build Ultra Low Temp liquid chillers for PC overclocking. loved it so much I took 2 years of HVAC during collage.
    Ironically my prefered coolants were Methanol for below -60f, and Ethanol between -60 to -0 as its not toxic like the Methy.
    Still have a bunch of new unopened Copeland 1/3 HP R410a compressors w condenser's, TXV's, All Brass Taco- circulating pumps, flow sensors etc.
    Maybe I should build/sell some for this instead HRMMMM...seriously.
