      @@joshoconnor5005 he was selling a product. Most ex bodybuilders have to sell something when they are done. This was his thing. He made it impossible to prove wrong, because if people say they didn't get results, the believers AND Mike, just say they didn't train hard enough.

    Yup. I had heard of Arthur before but never sought out his information. After researching Mike Mentzer, I finally looked into his material. He's a very thorough and smart guy. The way I think about working out is totally different now.

    • @teller121
      @teller121 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garrettchristensen8074 just type in Joe Weider and click on images. There are a bunch of shirtless photos of Weider showing plainly the man worked out. These photos are black and white and were long before Robbie Robinson was of age. Maybe Weider later stuck a facial silhouette on top of an animated image or something (from shoulders up, if I recall) but I wish I'd looked as good as Weider did in his images from the '40s and '50s.

    What incredible hairlines back then in time space for the both of them. Rarely see this today, now men shave their heads totally. Lol interesting watching this old talk from back before modern science and knowledge of training that we now have on higher volume and hypertrophy, but he turned out to be absolutely correct on the importance of the eccentric part of an exercise for muscular growth.

    His machines have so much friction, I change them to cable and pullies with bearings...to get a reasonable negative out of them.. Then you can slow down because the stiction is gone, and the cams have a problem ....This is the early stuff more than the 2st forward.

    Everything about HIT comes from the fact that Jones liked to have exotic animals and observed that a gorilla had enormous muscles and strength but spent most of his time resting and only brief but intense moments of exercise.

    • @reven-docta79
      @reven-docta79 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My guess, based upon Jones’ marketing of Nautilus sometime in 1970 in and selling it in 1986, would restrict the timeframe between those years. Now, given that the host makes it sound as if Jones is new on the fitness scene, I’d scope it to the 1970s. Lastly, Jones was born in 1926, and if we assume he’s about 50yrs old here (his generation aged hard) that would put this recording around 1976; which would roughly match the interviewer’s hair style, and suit. So my guess would be around 1975(+/-) 2 years. Btw, I looked the Doctor up and he’s apparently still practicing in CA.

    Brilliant guy. But his example of a machine not doing work while holding a weight parallell to the floor, whilst a human doing the same does work, assumes different construction design.

    Isometric is fine, you just have to do it at several different lengths of the muscle. THat is, different isolated positions along the muscles full range of motion. Bruce Lee did this.

    • @TruthTellert63
      @TruthTellert63 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct. Lee took his isometric routine DIRECTLY from "Functional Isometric Contraction," which Bob Hoffman of York Barbell published in 1961. (It was actually designed by Dr. John Ziegler for Louis Riecke, a weightlifter of the time, & was one of several different isometric routines he created.) FIC was included with the purchase of every York Iso/Power Rack, including the one Lee ordered directly from the company.

  • @RevBasilChristi
