Super handled both Freeza and Android 17, that is an accomplishment for Toei, Toei did well with Vegeta's character, hoped to see Vegeta till the end but I aint complaining, loved how they put meaning to predictable wish by saying that if a selfish wish was made then Zeno would have erased everything, this gave support to the predictable wish, also the comeback of 17 and him becoming the last man standing was flawless, its a thumbsup from me to Toei

I think another part of it is that in an interview (the origins of which I don't remember), Toriyama jokingly said he wanted to end the series with Goku's death glare at Frieza. But then they told him "Toriyama, there has to be a fight", and Toriyama kept the joke going by complaining that he had to make them fight. I learned from one of MasakoX's videos.
I use to hate that they brought Frieza back, but seeing him (reluctantly) work alongside Goku in DBZ Fighterz was funny. Would be great if he was a permanent ally. Wouldn't want Vegeta to accept it though as Frieza killed his father, his people and held him in bondage for so long. Could shift the nemesis/rival from Goku to Frieza. I don't know...who knows.
I think it’s stupid to think that Toriyama was forced to continue DBZ, but I do believe that he was under a lot of pressure to make an equally compelling arc after that. For example, I don’t think he originally planned to get Bulma and Vegeta together during Future Trunks’s arc but it just sort of happened that way. However, it did work out for the best since it gave Vegeta a softer side and more character development. I don’t believe in any rumors unless I hear it from Toriyama himself via interviews.

There’s a lot of things besides that fake interview that might make people think it was supposed to end at Frieza. Goku finally became the strongest in the universe, the only super saiyan because he’s pure of heart and vegeta isn’t, there were no more power levels/scouters after that, no more chasing the dragon balls, and the whole story started at namek with the nameless namekian coming to earth and creating the dragon balls so it fitting that the story ends at namek.

I remember reading the final chapter of the Dragon Ball portion of the DB manga before the story went to Z. On the last page, it mentioned that there were on 27 (I think) chapters of the story remaining. If you could towards those 27 chapters, you'll find yourself at the end of the Frieza fight. So maybe that information is what lead people to think that the series was meant to end in Namek.

Never heard anyone say he wanted to end it there. But rather that's a consensus made by fans. As one the Frieza saga does alot for the characters and bring them to the home of the namekians. Goku's heritage is fleshed out. And we kept hearing about the most powerful being in the universe a "Super Saiyan". Add that to the fact Frieza was renouned as the most powerful beingin the universe at the time. And the super saiyan form was what he feared. Ontop of the fact they made it sound like a one in a million transformation. Goku obtains it and defeats the tyrant of the universe. Which sounds very close to the biggest inspiration for Dragonball, Journey to the West ending. Although the Cell saga is a better ending storywise. But again that was also not stated and just what fans believe. As the Buu saga adds nothing to the series but the transformations and Buu.

There was so much misinformation back then, but there was almost no way to verify if it was a lie or not. Actually Goku’ sarcasmo was completed with Frieza, when he became the strongest in the universe. It’s the rest that doesn’t make sense, with a red ribbon scientist who before was able to create robots as powerful as 8 and then he goes on to create beings more powerful than Frieza. Not to mention that the Cell saga as we know it cannot logically exist (I mean, how can Trunks future even exist in that circumstance? Why in trunks future nobody cares about telling Gohan and Trunks about the Rosat -which could auge easily been done through King Kaioh, who allows you to speak to your dears who are still alive- why nobody cares about asking King Kaioh to communicate with neo Namek -something which he could have easily done, he easily locates neo Namek when Goku goes to visit him in the Cell saga-, why nobody cares about training in the afterlife to defeat the androids and then ask Baba to be brought back to the world for one day like Son Gohan in the original Dragonball and Goku in the Buu Arc?)
@@kubrickianoforever7823 You can only make this argument that the series fell off in the manga, in the anime it peaked during the Buu Arc. In the manga, the story peaked at the Frieza Arc.
Many of these misconceptions tend to support each other. I bought the idea that Toriyama wanted to end it at the Frieza saga because bookending it with Bardock's story made the Android saga look messy by comparison, what with Trunks popping up out of nowhere and a scientist we've never heard of out for Goku's blood for defeating the Red Ribbon Army. -- but now I find that Bardock was added later and the editors aren't so bad after all. Having said that, I do remember it being mentioned that DB villains have a tendency to resemble Toriyama's editors by accident. Maybe it was actually done out of appreciation for them instead. Makes more sense the more I think about it. If the editors did have the match control over Toriyama, it wouldn't be very smart to talk about how pushy they are in an interview because they might read it.
Dragon Ball Z officially ended when Goku was leaving to train Uub. I didn't watch Dbz, but I watch Dragon Ball Z Kai. When I was watching Dragon Ball Z Kai on CW 4Kids, when frieza was cut in half, the narrator said "The end is near, next Dragon Ball Z Kai." Then when CW Vortexx came out 5 years ago, it had new episodes of DBZ Kai and I knew it wasn't ending. Plus, I didn't knew that Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z Kai would do the same episodes, but different voice actors.
I wouldn't like Dragon Ball Z ending at the Frieza Saga. It would have been a bittersweet conclusion plus no universal characters since I personally enjoy versus debates.
The namek arc (or freeza saga as people like to refer to) is hands down my favourite arc in DBZ,it's really enjoyable to watch in my opinion especially goku vs frieza fight and i don't mind if i had to watch it again and again.
I don’t know it was Bandai or Toriyama wanted to continue but back in 90s when i was at Korean, bandai only had contract up to Frieza saga for the animation which was ridiculous cause even back in the day we only had 1-2 week delay between JP manga and the anime/manga was such a hit. Anime never came out anything after Frieza saga.
This is actually the first time I have heard of this. I had heard plenty of people tell me that it was supposed to end at the cell saga which I actually believed until you posted your video debunking it.
Can you do a video like 5 reasons a new dragon ball series can happen. Also can you make a video about dragon ball sales in different aspects like the dvd profits or figures as well as the manga and much more. I hope for the second one more, since not much is said about the sales for the anime or any anime to be honest and if it is discussed it's really only the manga sales that is discuss which is weird since, articles have titles like anime sales in it, but they only talk about the manga which is kinda annoying. Hey Geekdom, I'm not 100% sure about this fake quote from Toriyama either, but I'm positive I heard it back in my irc days when I was 13-15 (so 2000-2002ish). There was so much misinformation back then, but there was almost no way to verify if it was a lie or not. ending it at frieza would make 0 sense because so many characters would be left w/o development and goku's overarching arc wouldn't have concluded
Yeap, the cell saga should have concluded the series, Gohan finally reaches to his untapped potential and he finally becomes the hero, Goku dies just like in the original time and showing that some things cannot change, Vegeta in solitude forever, Trunks brings peace to his future by destroys the androids. It’s the perfect ending
Actually Goku’ sarcasmo was completed with Frieza, when he became the strongest in the universe. It’s the rest that doesn’t make sense, with a red ribbon scientist who before was able to create robots as powerful as 8 and then he goes on to create beings more powerful than Frieza. Not to mention that the Cell saga as we know it cannot logically exist (I mean, how can Trunks future even exist in that circumstance? Why in trunks future nobody cares about telling Gohan and Trunks about the Rosat -which could auge easily been done through King Kaioh, who allows you to speak to your dears who are still alive- why nobody cares about asking King Kaioh to communicate with neo Namek -something which he could have easily done, he easily locates neo Namek when Goku goes to visit him in the Cell saga-, why nobody cares about training in the afterlife to defeat the androids and then ask Baba to be brought back to the world for one day like Son Gohan in the original Dragonball and Goku in the Buu Arc?)

In the manga, the story peaked at the Frieza Arc.

Many of these misconceptions tend to support each other.
I bought the idea that Toriyama wanted to end it at the Frieza saga because bookending it with Bardock's story made the Android saga look messy by comparison, what with Trunks popping up out of nowhere and a scientist we've never heard of out for Goku's blood for defeating the Red Ribbon Army.
-- but now I find that Bardock was added later and the editors aren't so bad after all.
Having said that, I do remember it being mentioned that DB villains have a tendency to resemble Toriyama's editors by accident. Maybe it was actually done out of appreciation for them instead.
Makes more sense the more I think about it. If the editors did have the match control over Toriyama, it wouldn't be very smart to talk about how pushy they are in an interview because they might read it.
I am surprised that Geekdom did not talk about this earlier but this is still a great video.

Dragon Ball Z officially ended when Goku was leaving to train Uub. I didn't watch Dbz, but I watch Dragon Ball Z Kai. When I was watching Dragon Ball Z Kai on CW 4Kids, when frieza was cut in half, the narrator said "The end is near, next Dragon Ball Z Kai." Then when CW Vortexx came out 5 years ago, it had new episodes of DBZ Kai and I knew it wasn't ending. Plus, I didn't knew that Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z Kai would do the same episodes, but different voice actors.
I wouldn't like Dragon Ball Z ending at the Frieza Saga. It would have been a bittersweet conclusion plus no universal characters since I personally enjoy versus debates.

The namek arc (or freeza saga as people like to refer to) is hands down my favourite arc in DBZ,it's really enjoyable to watch in my opinion especially goku vs frieza fight and i don't mind if i had to watch it again and again.
I don’t know it was Bandai or Toriyama wanted to continue but back in 90s when i was at Korean, bandai only had contract up to Frieza saga for the animation which was ridiculous cause even back in the day we only had 1-2 week delay between JP manga and the anime/manga was such a hit. Anime never came out anything after Frieza saga.

This is actually the first time I have heard of this. I had heard plenty of people tell me that it was supposed to end at the cell saga which I actually believed until you posted your video debunking it.

Can you do a video like 5 reasons a new dragon ball series can happen. Also can you make a video about dragon ball sales in different aspects like the dvd profits or figures as well as the manga and much more.
I hope for the second one more, since not much is said about the sales for the anime or any anime to be honest and if it is discussed it's really only the manga sales that is discuss which is weird since, articles have titles like anime sales in it, but they only talk about the manga which is kinda annoying.
Also thanks for destroying false information about dragon ball, you really are the best when it comes down to it, keep up the amazing work.
I think the Frieza saga was more the ending of Goku's story then the series ending. But well Goku was just too popular i guess...
