Also, like Frieza, Cell is analitic and he knows when a technique does shit and how to copy or counter it.
Gero dying early on in the Android Saga hurts me immensely. I would've loved to see a story where Gero doesn't get killed by No. 17 and goes on to interact with No. 16 (who was modeled after his dead son) and his reaction to Cell coming into the past. I don't think he gets as much light as other villains like Freeza and Cell for obvious reasons, but his impact on the series is just as great as either one of them; he created machines that decimated alternate timelines and killed warriors birthed from ancient legends, got the gang powered up and ready for the coming threat of Majin Boo, and he inadvertently ended up saving the entire multiverse through No. 17. And I would've loved to see one more scene where he talks to Goku in the Android Saga and gives him his whole dramatic backstory, which makes Goku realize just how damning his actions can really be and give him more fuel for his decision to stay dead after the Cell Games. The thought of you causing the deaths of all your friends and the human race in two separate timelines because you killed a man's son is something that will fuck with anyone's head.
Yeah, the retcon of 16 being a replica of Gero's dead soon is tragic, and really makes you think about Goku's actions during the Red Ribbon saga. He killed a LOT of people, more than he ever would during the rest of his life.
Actually Goku never killed Gero's son. He was killed defending a higher officer in the line if duty. However since Goku killed said officers and the army itself, he made said sacrifice worthless. Basically Gero hated how Goku ruined his legacy and wanted revenge on multiple ways.
@@omegashinobi Man, that feels dumber imo. Even if Goku destroying the RRA fuels Gero's hate, I feel like directly killing Gero's son during his attack on the base's HQ would make more sense from a thematic standpoint for the saga. Android Arc focuses on fatherhood and the legacy they leave on their children; Goku with Gohan and Future Gohan, Vegeta with Future Trunks, and the arc even opens up with Freeza coming to Earth for revenge with his father. So with Gero doing all this for the son he lost to Goku, it would fit in perfectly with that aspect.
I never realized how recurring the idea of self-sacrificing techniques failing is in Dragon Ball and DBZ, even with Vegeta's final explosion in the Buu ark!
Another connection to Goku: Jiren’s backstory is a direct mirror reflection of Goku’s story in the King Piccolo arc. The only difference is that there were no Dragon Balls and he didn’t have the same abilities of Goku to surpass that foe in time. He simply lost, and that therefore made him lost
Small little correction: The Cell Jr.s are not Cell's own completely original creation. They are something he can create because of the Namekian DNA in him. Making them another aspect of him derived from the DNA used in his creation.
… all your explanation does is to clarify how they are Cell’s original creations… But you framed it as a correction, so your point confuses me. You didn’t bring correction, you brought clarification framed as correction which is dishonest at worst.

As cool as Moro is, he kinda feels like an amalgamation of other villains' themes. I guess the most notable thing with Moro is that he (and Granola) sees power and fighting as nothing more than a means to an end, which is certainly an interesting direction for Dragon Ball. Then there's Frieza and his journey, which is by far the most interesting in my opinion. Which is why the spirit bomb was perfect for defeating Buu because it represents pure good positive energy taking out pure evil
"Even a low class warrior can surpass an elite, if he works hard enough." A simple line, but one that captured the spirit of the whole series and Goku as a character. He doesn't look down on his opponents, but is inspired by their strength to better himself, eager to train and grow to a higher level, so he can stand as their equal. He fully accepts his weakness, and strives to grow, while characters like Vegeta refuse to accept that their assumptions might be false or that a being who they labeled as "weak" could challenge them. The villains rely on their scouters to measure the potential of people with a numerical value, assigning them a rank from birth. Goku and his friends time and time again defy this mentality, by surpassing their limits and so called "power level" to the disbelief of the villains.
The Ginyu force did care when Guldo was killed. They showed shock for a few seconds at how powerful Vegeta was. And they knew the captain would be mad because the poses would be off. But their hardy battle warrior attitude meant they didn't show grief at the time, and prepared for their turn to fight. They knew if Vegeta got a sneak attack on any of them he could one shot them or do serious damage after that moment.
Excellent video. It's good to see someone giving the villains of Dragon Ball their due. There are a few additional aspects I believe could have been included though if not finding it to make the video too verbose: Another key aspect that differentiates Piccolo Daimao from other villains in the franchise is that his goal after conquest was to abolish all laws rather than enforcing his own system like Red and Freeza or being purely about wanton destruction as with Cell or Boo. He let humanity run wild in what seems to be an attempt to show their true colours, something that becomes retroactively profound with later reveals of Kami's position or Kaio stating that their original, united self likely had his heart's purity damaged by what he witnessed of humans on Earth. With Piccolo, his identity with his previous incarnation as well as Goku and Gohan's views on him compared to his father, there's a few elements that become apparent with a deep dive into eastern beliefs. Several Daoist or Buddhist traditions believe that the physical destruction of aspects and iconography of a demon can weaken their power, with it being fitting that Goku pierces through Piccolo Daimao's Ma (demon) kanji when landing a fatal blow. By these cultural beliefs, this would serve as a slight exorcism that helps explain why the new Piccolo is perceived as not being as evil. Another detail on their identity is that Piccolo refers to himself with the pronoun of "ora" much as Goku and Chichi (ie. that of a younger, less well-mannered person) whereas Daimao refers to himself with "washi" (that of an older man) showing the two are different on a mental level. Raditz is also an interesting case beyond his role as Goku's brother as he represented just as much of an escalation in selfishness as power between the three Saiyan enemies of the arc. Despite his claims, there'd be no utilitarian benefit of having someone of Goku's power at the time join them and he even uses the death of their parents as an attempt to squeeze a reaction out of Goku, showing he wanted a sense of familial bonds that was still rooted in their Saiyan ideals. Nappa is far more adamant about killing Goku rather than recruiting him but still displays some level of care for allies such as believing at first Vegeta would use the Dragon Balls to revive Raditz until Vegeta elaborated on gaining eternal life as well as being shocked at Vegeta killing a Saibaiman that had proven to be inferior to Tenshinhan, compared to Vegeta having little care for allies that serve no use to him. This works very well as an inverted escalation of how the Dragon Team became less selfish over time too. It's a bit disappointing you didn't mention King Cold. Despite his short stay in the story, his role recontextualises Freeza's actions as those of a spoiled child who was raised to know little better than the character traits he displayed. This also fits thematically with his loss on Namek coming from a difference in ideology as him not being challenged in his mindset causes him to give Goku the opportunity to overpower him and his immaturity causing his near death. The dying Namek is also one of the most fitting locations for a major fight in the series, the planet being gradually destroyed every bit as much as Freeza's ideals.
This video was tight. I never really looked at the entire franchise this way and compared Goku's ideals with other's. Especially the reason why he had to be the one to protect earth in the end again.
There's a twisted irony that Cell has the most potential out of all the previous villains and characters(By having their genetics)in dragon ball only to spend the rest of the story STEALING power instead of learning and growing the power he already has. Poetic that Cell and Gohan are both prodigies in a way.
Thank you for the update at the end! it's good to hear from you at least I do hope in the future that you'll be able to return more, but take your time. IRL comes first, we can be patient
I always felt like Friezas laziness was never discussed enough. He was so used to getting everything he wanted without any effort. In fact, half of the arc we see him just sitting in a chair. Conversely, we see Goku training and building himself up most of the time. Frieza was Gokus opposite in every way. I thought that was great character writing.
You know when you mentioned about Cell using the other fighters techniques and skills reminds me of the lesson of strength by Kreia from Knights of the Old Republic 2. Strength from others means you become dependent on that source of strength but true strength is rejecting power that is not your own.
sadly people don't wanna watch analysis videos anymore. It's all just hype and pretty looking videos over analyses now. Mostly talking about craftsdwarf's one piece content.
This was fab. all the best. I got into one piece this year - currently on post enies lobby - and I've been loving finishing an arc and then listening to the nen show episode about it.
The 23rd tournament’s Goku vs Piccolo Jr is a brutal fight, but by stepping back, Piccolo Jr can be seen as an orphanage toddler having a tantrum. Goku I think saw this, along with the difference between father and Son, ( plus the whole Kami connection) so he just outlasted the outburst, and punished him just enough to force feed some humble pie, but then chose to show some kindness after punishment, like a parental figure and so he spared the remaining demon servant, knowing the child could improve and be a better person. Thankfully he did.
Funny that in Super with Frieza being resurrected he has also developed a drive to better himself. He trained for 10 full years and despite having both Goku and Vegeta completely outclassed he let them live. That's something old Frieza would have never done.
cell Jr is probably a better version of what king piccolo does to make our current piccolo, maybe it's how it would work if he wasn't injured while preforming it
And how was he able to do so after being stripped of Red Ribbon Army resources, and without knowing the insane power boosts taken from the Fortuneteller Baba arc onwards to Namek stuff? Dr. Gero has a hatred of Goku comparable to AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream towards all of humanity, even if for some reason the basis for 16 (and therefore Gero’s son) was killed.
Okay, 3 min in ans I gotta say I really appreciate you mentioning all villains, i.e. red ribbon army, and not just the bbegs in Z. Like, frieza, cell, and buu
Exquisitely done😎 The only part I didn't agree on was Goku's power level after him and Gohan left the chamber.. I've been a fan of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z for a long time. And what I've learned while watching was, "Never trust Goku when it comes to his power 🤣🤣🤣" They did have a point when trying to end the Goku show but he's just too unique of the character to end... Regardless I still feel they should have ended him anyway. That way other fans could have developed the outlook you have on the show.. After watching this video it's very clear that Dragon Ball Z as a story ended for you.. And as a humongous fan of special things that end myself... I give you much respect✌️😁
Damn u went OFF on this bro! Great video! Ur point on Vegeta acting more like Freiza rather than like a real Saiyan is something I never thought about before! Really interesting way to view the character!
Man... I loved Tambourine. Short lived but would have made a fun villian if they didnt make goku "just hungry" and then proceeded to kill tambourine after a good meal lmfao
Shame you didn't talk about Super, because Frieza's growth has been one of my favorite things. I also really enjoy characters like Granola, Blamasu, Moro, and Elec. Still a really good video.
I always felt like Gohan's arc was never closed. Cursed to perpetually relive his mistakes of arrogance. Such a wasted character, there's something about not wanting to fight and yet being unable to escape that life. He may not want it, but he was always destined to be Goku's successor, and I wish Toriyama would've explored his character more in that 25th martial arts tournament.
@@colinnixon7739 Gohan was the one that saved the day at the end of the Cell arc, not Goku. Idk, its just wrong to introduce an idea into a story and then going back on it. That’s why the Buu arc always felts so disconnected to me. Toriyama was building towards something great and then he just rushed it at the end. Don’t get me wrong, the buu arc is fun but it ain’t near close to the Cell or Frieza arc. I’m not saying Gohan should be Goku, but at least finish what you started years ago with his character and don’t leave him unresolved.
@TheLenbax Gohan didn't save the day. Android 16 saved the day. Goku coaching Gohan saved the day, vegeta hitting cell in the back saved the day. Gohan was not proactive in cells defeat. He was passive. He literally couldn't do it by himself on his own merits. That's not a good protagonist.

The dying Namek is also one of the most fitting locations for a major fight in the series, the planet being gradually destroyed every bit as much as Freeza's ideals.
This is Based🤝
Your comment is so underrated, I can't explain how well put this is 😩
This is the best db analysis I’ve seen. Bravo
Cell would never train
@@colinnixon7739 If Frieza did...
Need a version with the dragon ball super antagonists including those in the manga
Thank you for the update at the end! it's good to hear from you at least
I do hope in the future that you'll be able to return more, but take your time. IRL comes first, we can be patient
You make some of the best videos honestly. Great job
this was one of the most interesting takes I've seen in dragon ball, thanks for the good video
Hope all is well in your personal life.
This video was truly amazing and you put together so many ideas so eloquently.
I love your music choices! Didn’t expect to see Kingdom Hearts and Kenichi the mightiest disciple music
This show is beautiful. No wonder this franchise has so much staying power. Wonderful analysis.
OH MY GOOOOOOD! The Dwarf is alive!
EDIT: Sad to hear you are struggling right now. Hope you can pull through! I'm rootin' for ya' Dwarf!
Babe wake up, new Craftsdwarf Dragon Ball video just dropped!
That Trixie Vs Ethan Ralph edit, beautiful 👌
You know when you mentioned about Cell using the other fighters techniques and skills reminds me of the lesson of strength by Kreia from Knights of the Old Republic 2. Strength from others means you become dependent on that source of strength but true strength is rejecting power that is not your own.
This had an outstanding flow and analysis.
Missed you Craftsdwarf, wish you got much more views on your videos. People are missing out.
sadly people don't wanna watch analysis videos anymore. It's all just hype and pretty looking videos over analyses now. Mostly talking about craftsdwarf's one piece content.
@@dfactoropbr I like analysis videos and I try to watch them as much as possible.
I know they weren't main villains but man did I love the Ginyu Force.
I Hope you bring back the nen show I really wanted to hear your readthrough of Toriko and shaman king
This was fab. all the best. I got into one piece this year - currently on post enies lobby - and I've been loving finishing an arc and then listening to the nen show episode about it.
He hath returneth
The fan base are the true villains
If only we could blast them away easily…
True💪
Yes
Are they stronger than goku though?
Good analysis dude.
cell Jr is probably a better version of what king piccolo does to make our current piccolo, maybe it's how it would work if he wasn't injured while preforming it
Loved the video, it really shed an in depth way of viewing the over arching themes of the things that led the characters to be the way they are.
My question is, how did Gero create machines that are capable of not only fighting but k*lling beings capable of destroying actual planets?
And how was he able to do so after being stripped of Red Ribbon Army resources, and without knowing the insane power boosts taken from the Fortuneteller Baba arc onwards to Namek stuff? Dr. Gero has a hatred of Goku comparable to AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream towards all of humanity, even if for some reason the basis for 16 (and therefore Gero’s son) was killed.
He's back!!
and when the world needed him the most he returned...
Fr welcome back! I thought you left for good!!
You heard of MistereFusion? His Dragon Ball Dissection is what AniTuber wish they were.
MistereFusion vids are🚮
@@christinawalker101 What's that mean?
@@matt0044 Trash bro.
@@colindowden2182 For real? MF's videos are the best I've seen when it comes to Dragon Ball videos not about power levels or whatnot.
Was listening to Nen Show when I got the notification that this came out
He is still alive!
Piccolo destroying the moon in the DB..really stays in my memories.
I feel like children in this generation were robbed of real role models. I hope I don't too childish, but DragonBall shaped my whole outlook on life
Return of the King
That Destiny Islands ost towards the start >>>>
24:27 this goku part was just… perfect
Great video, glad to see you back here
solid video
Oh yah. Just gonna slip that destiny island theme in there
Damn 9 months for this. Why do good works always take so long bruh
Okay, 3 min in ans I gotta say I really appreciate you mentioning all villains, i.e. red ribbon army, and not just the bbegs in Z. Like, frieza, cell, and buu
EXACTLY YOU EXPLAINED UUB SO GOOD and the Buu saga even better
I see so many clips of Z now and instantly think of team four star and Dragon Ball Z Abridged
Love your content, pls keep making more videos!
Shoot happy to see a new video I just checked last week to make sure I was still subscribed. I love your stuff, but I'm still very new to your channel
Channel based around Dbz and DF?
I'm sold!
Bro has kh music of destiny island in the back
Love it
The fact people think Dragon Ball isn't neccessary viewing is genuinely sad. :( Real fans play Pilaf Machine in Tenkaichi 3
Exquisitely done😎
The only part I didn't agree on was Goku's power level after him and Gohan left the chamber..
I've been a fan of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z for a long time. And what I've learned while watching was, "Never trust Goku when it comes to his power 🤣🤣🤣"
They did have a point when trying to end the Goku show but he's just too unique of the character to end...
Really interesting way to view the character!
hey! i know that song in the beginning, prob one of my favs from MIA's OST
That's an amazing point:
Did Frieza train his men to off each other on purpose to prevent something like a zenaki boost?
Man... I loved Tambourine. Short lived but would have made a fun villian if they didnt make goku "just hungry" and then proceeded to kill tambourine after a good meal lmfao
let's gooooooooooooooo
デー is here one's again but also デー is here two's again
Great video!
Shame you didn't talk about Super, because Frieza's growth has been one of my favorite things. I also really enjoy characters like Granola, Blamasu, Moro, and Elec. Still a really good video.
Good video like always.
Im not even 4 minutes in but this is a great video
Gohan was still more powerful when cell returned
I think people forget Goku is Cell's father not just Gohan's.
Explain?
I could tell you take inspiration from totally not Mark but I believe you are the better, and I hope your channel flourishes.
I liked this video the second I seen that Ethan Ralph fight clip - hilarious
Nice kingdom hearts music !
Fantastic video
I always felt like Gohan's arc was never closed. Cursed to perpetually relive his mistakes of arrogance. Such a wasted character, there's something about not wanting to fight and yet being unable to escape that life. He may not want it, but he was always destined to be Goku's successor, and I wish Toriyama would've explored his character more in that 25th martial arts tournament.
Nobody will ever be goku. He's literally 1 of a kind. That's why he's always the one that ends up saving the day.
@colinnixon7739 sure, whatever you say man
@@thelenbax8497 it's not my fault you don't know how to properly analyze simple shit 😒
