- Former United States president Donald Trump is due to formally accept the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in a prime-time speech on Thursday (Jul 18). Three days ago, he announced his pick of Ohio senator JD Vance as his running mate. James Crabtree, distinguished visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, tells CNA’s East Asia Tonight that Asian leaders have perhaps shown “too little concern” for the effects that a second Trump presidency might have.
