For me, I’m really engaged with your journey because you are posting more consistently. For some context creators, for me, out of sight out of mind. I think once you have a stronger audience then by all means, slow down the content and focus on living life, not just recording it. Like any business… It’s building a strong customer base that is the key to success!! 🩵🤍🩵 God bless you and keep you safe!! ☕️🍰🥰

I’m 63, “retiring” early next yr (I’ll do seasonal work winters, like yourself) and will be starting the PCT next summer!!!! Have done the AT and other long distance hikes here and in Europe and this has been a goal for a while. My hike will be a flip starting at the OR border NoBo and then back to finish SoBo, since my current lease doesn’t end till June. I also will be living in my car when I leave the city I’m in. Did that during covid for almost a yr and fell in love with doing it full time. I feel like you’re my little sister! Really enjoying following your wonderfully inspiring videos and looking forward to watching your journey as I make my own (scary!!!) way. ❤ who knows, we may pass each other out there next yr LOL!

On loose, steep, rocky terrain as that, you REALLY should consider proper stout walking boots with good ankle support/protection.
Those trainer shoes definitely not a safe choice for that type of hiking.

Im so excited about your goal. I have always known you would do it! I used to watch your videos when I got ready for my attempt last time because I respected your carefully thought out planning. I know you’re going to complete that trail!
I have the same goal only my old body is taking a bit longer to prep. I won’t be applying for my permit until next November. I have lost 22 pounds so far, so I’m serious about this next attempt. I decided I had to lose at least as much as I expected my pack to weigh so my knees can take it. I hope I haven’t let my muscles and bones get too far gone!
I’ve always wanted to go back and re-try, I can’t shake the goal either.

Hiking boots with ankle support, a good hiking staff, and emergency beacon/phone, you would have bagged that peak!
Yes, stamina/endurance is a must. As you have done here, stay on strenuous uphill/downhill training. Add a daypack with 1 or 2 gallons of water?
Because it is your thigh/butt/leg/back muscles that must be tough. Slight strain on a strong muscle you can recover.
Strain on weak muscle, you are out for a while.
You are young, you will succeed. Surely you will connect along the trail with others with the same goal.
Mosquitoes/flies, and bears will be the enemies!
Start in the north, head south, would be unique.
Arrive in southern desert in November?
Major expenses? those freeze dried foods, mailing the resupply to the right places?
Maybe replacement boots along the way?
Maybe a cabin/motel once or twice?
Yeah, certainly burger and beer somewhere!

I'm so excited for you...and accomplishing your goal. I remember the video when you talked about how you had decided to put the hike off. I was devastated for you. But you are back on it now and I know you will accomplish it this time. I have the same thoughts on completing the John Muir Trail. I was supposed to hike it this year, but thanks to skin cancer and dealing with way too many excisions, I had to put it off. Thinking next season will be a much more viable time to take it on. Who knows, maybe we will pass on the trail. Love your content...keep it up! As for favorite activity, I'm looking forward to some snow shoeing this winter...and some camping in the snow. And I totally agree with you on the burger!

I like to go hiking or just a super long walk maybe 6 or 9 miles. my post hike food is also a beer and burger. I'm really excited for you to do the pct, I've watched several other hikers on the trail and I really like it. I think it'd be interesting if you shared with us all the different ways that you were planning this trip because there are so many. Not only is it the food and the clothing but it's how many zero days or Nero days as well as what type of food you're going to take and how you plan on vlogging. There are enough hikers out there who tell us everything they're taking but I think you might be a first if you vlogged each day you planned for this trip because that's the real Nitty Gritty of it. Like is your planning using the spokes on a wheel where at the end of the spoke is a different goal. The daily vlog would be how you're getting there, how close you are now. I haven't seen anyone do something that detailed. This mom and son, world towning vlog, they are about to complete the AT and their daily vlog is so different than the handful of others I've seen. Because she wanted to keep it real, I truly felt the difficulty of the trail. Each person's personality is different, so even when others I've watched were "keeping it real" this one made me feel like I was on trail. I realize that may not be your goal, tho. The theme I've seen/felt in AT Hikes varies: the commeraderie, the people met, etc. One lady seemed to basically give the weather, the miles, and how she felt at the start and then cut to the end. Not my kind of video. Anyway... will your aunt go with?

The PCT looks incredible. Very cool! As for my personal favorite activity and post work out meal... I love hiking, yoga, and just got back into trail running after a hiatus. Post hike/run/yoga meals would be a big smoothie bowl if it's early in the day. For lunch/dinner, it would be something like a spicy rice and veggie bowl with tofu...or maybe veggie fajitas... Something warm and filling.

I really admire your drive and commitment. At this stage of my life I have many “I wish I had carried through with” …. But never did. Don’t look back one day and wish you had; go for it. Life is about creating memories, they will carry you through the rough times.
As for your question….I used to do all kinds of activities like downhill skiing, hiking, fishing, riding my horse, snowmobiling and many sports. After a strenuous activity I really wasn’t interested in eating. My go to would be a nice cold drink or in the winter a hot toddy was welcomed. BTW…have you ever seen “A Walk in the Woods” with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte? More my generation but it’s about hiking the Appalachian Trail. It’s fun but soul searching as well. I think it was on Netflix. Might be something of interest when you just want to unwind. Stay safe, stay happy and always “Happy Trails to You”. 🇨🇦

You absolutely can accomplish your goal of through hiking the PCT. I would add a wilderness first aid course to your preparation if you have not had one already. I found I love wilderness backpacking, but am not a thru hiker. For me the impact of the "bubbles " on the trails and the trail towns made me sad. I know that at my age I am o only going to hike a long trail once, so I want to see each section in it's best season. I want to actually get to see the trail towns and learn some of the history, natural history, flora and fauna of the area. Being in a Tramily is special but it can also inadvertently cause one to injure themselves. I will definitely continue to follow your journey through TH-cam and I feel with your story telling skills, you could have one of the more watched video blogs for the PCT. Post hike, bike, or paddle it used to be a juicy burger, like the one you had.... I mean the run down your arms juicy, but it could be a plant based option or Mexican, Tex- mex, or Thai. As always Thank you for another great video. Blessings.

I took a Wilderness First Aid course a few years ago. The certification is not valid anymore but I have maintained a First Aid/CPR.
Section hiking to see each season at its best is a good idea!

I absolutely BELIEVE you can do this Christine... PRAISE GOD!!! You will have to totally FOCUS and get very serious about training and nutrition and push your self harder then ever before! Maybe set a course for so many trails/miles and mountain peaks across many states for training... ALWAYS train harder then what you will face! I have been following your videos and your dreams I BELIEVE IN YOU CHRISTINE! You are inspiring many people on here including me... 3 years ago i was doing exactly what you are hiking all over and bodybuilding and nutrition and conquered the rim to rim grand canyon 2021 and wanted to do the PCT as well! But then i got severely injured at work and almost died many times since and lost everything to my name and still trying to even walk right again... GOD forbid! :( BUT GOD has saved my life many times and is still delivering, healing, and restoring my whole life back together again one day at a time!🙏🙏🙏 So trust me when i say... I BELIEVE I really Believe!!! Christine your a tremendous blessing on here and achieving great things and i m sooo happy for you! KEEP GOING!!! GOD BLESS YOU!😀🙏👍

I gage it like this...if you got sweaty def a beer...if you didn't get sweaty then I just chug a bunch of water or make coffee or cocoa...and a burger or buffalo chicken wrap or sandwich. I hope you get to hike the PCT in 2025! Wld luv to see your journey!

do you think walking sticks might help on steeper trails? I wouldn't have gone any farther on that trail either, in fact probably not as far as you did. I've been on steep, slidey trails and they are dangerous as you pointed out. But at my age (81) I find walking poles help considerably on any gravel, unsteady surface.

    • @nomad_unknown
      @nomad_unknown  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I have poles and they are helpful although I don't rely on them often. I considered using them for that section but with the prolonged steepness of the hill, decided it still wasn't worth the risk.

Hi Christine. wow that thumb nail is just glamorous. Just to let you know. You really need your body burning ketones not carbs for a tripe like that. Carbohydrates might work for people in their 20s. But when you get older, all carbs does is pack on body weight. I've been doing carnivore for 14 years and at 45 I can out-pace 20-30 year old all day long. Its funny watcher their faces as I run pass them up hill. Its priceless.
I do pure animal based food on OMAD. I feel fantastic and have massive energy output. Also while on Carnivore you have no choice but to lose weight. You don't even need to work out. It just burns off on its now.

Hi Michael! I hear ya! I had great success with a keto diet in the past. It’s a bit of a balancing act with triggering some ED issues with me when I place that much restriction.

@@nomad_unknown I know that feeling, When I switched over from carb burning to Ketones. I had to eat homemade sauerkraut and Kefir milk/cheese I made myself and do intermittent fasting with occasional long term fasting. I'm afraid the switch over isn't something you can do on the road. You need to be close to a W.C. until stuff calms down. 😉 Sauerkraut/Kefir is loaded with beneficial probiotics, It was the only way I could keep a healthy gut biome, until my body got used to the higher fat intake. I actually through about switching too Keto. Its a little less boring than animal meats all the time.
