Hi Sarah - I loved this video and I love your channel! I am an older US Military Veteran (50’s) and I took a vacation day today (Monday Nov. 11th, 2024) since the company I work for doesn’t observe the Veterans Day holiday. After waking up, I was doing a little internet surfing on my iPad Pro. I like to hike and I like New England a lot so I guess TH-cam’s algorithm figured that out and decided to serve me your channel this morning! Glad it did. I liked your hikes (especially the one in Stowe with the animal placards on the trail), I enjoyed your tour through Burlington, and I liked the tours of your vehicle setup and also your fellow car/van-life friend’s van (I liked his stickers from the places he’d been). We love your content here in Cleveland, Ohio. Be safe out there and keep tight with the other car/van-life friends that you trust - in the military they always taught us to live by the “buddy system” (“safety in numbers”). Your sunny disposition and mood were very cheery even when you “got the knock” - the world needs more of that. Positive Mental Attitude! All the best to you, keep on keeping on! Your new e-friend Whil.
Great video! I’ve lived in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont my whole life. It’s a beautiful State, but the older I get, I don’t care for the long winters like I used to. Keep up the great videos!
I am 5 minutes from Vermont border and we are already cold and lost 90% of our leaves. Last year we never went below zero (I keep track). We typically will be -18 for a few days out of a year around 4am.
girl no way i work near that parking lot you found and that is the most UNSAFE parking lot i have ever experienced, the amount of drug deals and people that have died in the van you parked next to is insane, so glad you didn’t experience what usually goes on there!
Fun to see you visit my state. I know lots of people in Burlington who would have let you park too. Glad you didn't spew any sensationalist nonsense about the dangers of Vermont, hahaha. Still an extremely safe and overall quiet place. Lovely to visit and we're a pretty welcoming bunch as long as tourists are respectful and keep the nature clean.

Perhaps someday you can come back. There are so many hidden and not-so-hidden gems in Vermont. And if you can deal with the Winters, it's a great place to live. Although, it seems over the last few years that our winters have become milder and shorter. As for the cider doughnuts, I agree. Unless you can grab one directly off the conveyor, they are dry, but, a quick nuke or a dunk in coffee, helps.
It finally happened😅😂! Congrats! I hear once you’ve gotten “the knock” you’re accepted into the “official car dweller club”!! 😂 my first time was TERRIFYING (mid washcloth shower in a Walmart parking lot lol)
Hey, Sarah, I get the knock about once or twice a month. While it is quite annoying, it doesn't phase me anymore. Sometimes, I get passive aggressive notes on my windshield. I find it pretty ironic how others are jealous of others living their best life! If they're watching us live our best vehicle dwelling lives, then they're certainly not living theirs! Funny how others can be jealous of someone with less things living our minimalism lives. Perhaps they're too scared of judgement to be their true authentic self! Welcome to the official car dweller club, Sarah!
Coming from someone who was born and raised in Vermont there’s actually a lot of beautiful places with rich history and nice people, but like everywhere there’s down sides to 😊😂
Myself and probably others think about how much fun it would be to be travelling and seeing the outdoors. I like that you talk about some of the practical aspects and economics of travelling and where to stay overnight.
Great job on the New England trip Sarah! We relocated down South after living in NH for 24 years wonderful years and miss New England greatly. Your state by state series brought us back to many of the same spots where our family memories were made. Thanks so much for taking us along 👏✌️😁
Thank you ! Thank you! ❤❤👍☝️. Makes me drop everything and hit the road to see all the wonders that we have without knowing that we have it just going out there. Just made me take in my mind a mini vacation seeing all that.

Just so you know - the best place in Vermont to buy apple cider donuts is at Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury which is close to where you went when you went to Ben n Jerry's... it is just down the road a ways.... Hey, that's my stomping grounds! Lol! I've lived in Vermont my whole life. I lived down town Burlington for many years and I walked or took the buses everywhere I needed. I've spent a lot of time on Church street and on the waterfront. I loved it and I miss living there. I'm currently live 40 minutes south in Ferrisburgh, Vt. where I grew up. Living and or traveling for long stretches definitely teaches you far more than what you anticipate. Has to be experienced to believe, afterall the journey is the reward. Well done video and such a great introspection, inspiring many to travel more✌️⚡
Hi Sarah! I’m clumsy as well so an easy quick solution for any food stains is to quickly put water on the area and blot it dry to absorb the dirty water. The area will stay wet for a bit, but it may prevent you from having to change your clothes as often.
Very cool i saw at the end it looks like the rockfield going up mt washington i defintely got to hike that again first time was 1996 i was only 23 at the time it wasnt too bad but towards the top i did need to take a quick rest to eat some granola and chocolate mix once my blood sugar got up the rock field was easy thats one great day I'll never forget
Sarah, Thanks for the tips to keep bears at bay, and hope you never have to put to them to the test. Always a joy to have you show us some fun places and their unique history and fun facts. Be safe on the road and on the trails, Thanks for Sharing...
Sarah, you should have stopped in to The Roastery coffee shop, the Nomadic Movement TH-camrs own it. Thanks for another nice video with good historical information. Loving the content. Much Love 💕
I always spill something on the front of my shirts too so what I’ve started doing is I keep an old hand towel handy, and put that on my shirt before I start to eat a drink works like a charm saves on wash.
My dad taught me if you're gonna eat in the car wear a bath towel. All my cars always have an old bath towel. Salespeople with soiled clothes don't present well.
You’re so right about materialism these days. That’s some great insight. I also love the honest review of the doughnut. Not everything is the best thing ever.
Knock! Knock! Cold showers are standing cold plunges, so Nikki would be proud of you.😁 From one leaky mouth foodie to another, stains are reminders of foods we love. Be safe and be well as always, Sarah!👍🏾💙🤍❤️🙏🏾
Hi Sarah, This was a very nice trip. I enjoyed it all. I never traveled much, but I’ve sure seen some really nice places going along with nice people like you and Nikki. So, thank you for sharing your fun times with me. I’m 77 and loving this… thanks. 🙋🏻♀️🥰
DARN TOUGH socks are the only socks in my drawer! I work construction and they last forever, then they replace them for free! You can actually order your own foot size, length, cushion placement and level, etc...one of the few brands I will rave about online.
I own several pairs of these the women's pairs I are really tight on my ankles so I have to wear the men's, the no show versions slide off my feet but other than that they are great socks.
Vermonter here and that’s all I wear for socks I worked at ski areas for years so I liked having warm socks or something that would last in general and the fact that they have lifetime warranty is awesome I even got short socks for summer time that are not long so I don’t always need my boots on I can just have some sneakers on
I never appreciated having an apartment with a big bed and heat until I had to live in my car for 2 years. There was a lot of pros to living out of the car but far more cons. The biggest cons being places to sleep uninterrupted and temperature control. I was very north and in the summer there were still nights where I had to pitch a tent and sleep in a tent. Usually would just fork over the 15$ for a campsite for a few nights and it was alright. But ya I don't regret doing it! Every night after work I actually appreciate my shelter now and made it into a nice little cave. Just a tiny 400 sq ft studio which I probably would have complained about and kept a wreck if I didn't know the other side. IT's all about perspective!
Sarah, your photography and videography skills have moved into the professional realm. Always entertaining, as well as informative, I'm never bored! Thank you.
I agree, you can definitely see the difference between her first couple of uploads compared to the previous few uploads. I feel the videos are put together really well without feeling over the top like others channels are.
Girl your face said it all when you bit that dry ass donut, lol! Your honesty is refreshing because most wouldn't have said anything. Love your vids and keep'em comin! 😁
Not sure where she purchased the donut from but the best place in Vermont to buy apple cider donuts is at Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury. There are a few other places in Vermont and one is at Hackett's Orchard in South Hero... I live in Vermont and know the town she was in but wasn't sure where she purchased that donut from but it's sad that she went there of all places cause the donuts here at those other two places are amazing and she did go to Waterbury when she was at Ben n Jerry's.
It isn't. I don't know where you heard that. Bernie and his Progressive disciples have turned the state into a smaller version of California. Rutland and Burlington have high crime rates. I'm sure other Vermont cities do as well. Not to mention an explosion in homelessness statewide.
I found your video today. I will watch a lot because I love traveling and car camping. I'm headed to Tampa in December to compete in the Senior Games track and field meet, and watching your videos will help make the experience richer!
Another awesome video! I love Hokas! I only used to wear Nike, but my friend got me hooked five years ago and now that’s all I wear! Also, if you’re in a jam for a place to park, find a local hospital. It’s safe, there is security there oftentimes, but they won’t bother you if you’re not outside cooking and leaving trash all over like some people do. I overnight camp in hospital parking lots often!
Love watching your video, Sarah you do an excellent job explaining everything and keeping calm. I absolutely love Nikki’s videos also so pleasant both of you👍🥰🥰
You go girl. I’m 75 years old and sure wish we were able to do this sort of stuff when I was young. Being a proper young woman and my days wasn’t possible.
So nice to see you living the dream! When I was your age I did something very similar and it was the best time of my life! Stay safe out there and if you're ever in Las Vegas let me know I'll give you the Grand Tour
I clicked your video because of the title…I had to know what “the knock” is!! The next time you’re in Stowe, drive through Smugglers Notch. There’s some awesome views and hikes in the notch and the drive itself is an experience. I relate to your views about materialism, but I’m a child of the ‘80s always looking for the next shiny thing!! Thanks for the great content, you’ve got +1 subscriber.
Great video. I was born in Morrisville the next town north of Stowe. I actually lived in Stowe when I was younger. I learned to ski on the Toll House one of the old ski areas of the time.
Sarah - your videos continue to improve with each travel/adventure experience. You’re doing great! Now, whether you realize it or not, you’re so fortunate to be at a stage in life that when you open that door you’ve never walked through before in life, you’re going to find so much wonder and excitement. Run with it. 💪✌
I would love it if she would go to Upstate New York in the fall! Then it would be like the Taylor Swift song All Too Well: "We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate / Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place / And I can picture it after all these days" :D
Vermont is pussy shit. The people in Vermont are the anti christ. They are the stupid goddamn idiots, and they act like they’re black. Vermont is a disgusting disgrace
Like your experiences. May I suggest fir stains : a small spray bottle with water with a bit of white vinegar then spray the area then sprinkle simple baking soda! It might disappear instantly good luck keep it on.
If you play dead for a grizzly, it's going to bite down on your skull like it's a jawbreaker. They say to never run from a predator, but that's the only chance you'll have to live if a grizzly goes to you. I recommend camping around deep water. Maybe on a ledge over water. You will never out-run a grizzly, nor out-climb it. If you climb a tree on a grizz, it will shake you out of the tree. A black bear will come right up the tree to you. Run down a steep hill, if you can. The bear's front legs are shorter than it's rear legs. That slows them down on a decline. Never run uphill. Playing dead is simply offering your body as food. Dont do that. lol You are too cute for that, and you seem like a very nice young lady. You remind me a lot of my daughter, so I like you already. Have fun, and thank you for your cool videos. :)
Lake Emerald state park. DANBY area has some of the most chewed up boot bottoms from the newspaper articles about being up a tree and trying to head kick the black bear that chased em up there! Hunting season. Lots of wildlife up there at the end of the camping road for Lake Emerald. You’re literally on the upper side of the mountain!
@retiredbadboy55 ... You're probably trying to be funny and flippant, but in case you are not, this is TERRIBLE advice in dealing with bears. Sarah is correct in what she stated about bears. If one is approached by or involved in an attack by a black bear, the researched advice is to retreat slowly unless close contact is made... then you should make noise, throw rocks, make yourself to appear larger... and fight back in an attack. Black bears VERY seldom attack humans, they almost always retreat or at most, bluff charge. But when they do attack, it IS a predatory attack and you should fight. With grizzly bear, or brown bears... an attack is usually because you are perceived as a threat. If you run, you just kicked them into prey drive to chase you. If you fight, they will keep seeing you as a threat and will keep mauling you until you are NO LONGER A THREAT. This is why the advice is to play dead if contact is made by a grizzly. If they see you as no threat, the attack will finish and they will cease to continue (until you are actually DEAD). if someone wants to read the research, real life instances of attacks and how to respond... a good resource is the book, "Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance" authored by Stephen Herrero. The research and lessons learned from REAL LIFE scenarios back up what Sarah summarized. Also talks about the utility of having and knowing how to use bear spray to ward off or lessen an attack situation vs. using a firearm as protection.
Stowe VT is the best vacation my wife and I have been on. Stowe has the best headshop if you're into that sort of thing. Stash 'n Stowe, a lot of locally blown glass.
Sarah, Unilever has owned Ben & Jerry's for a bunch of years. The two old hippies became what they protested about, "the man". All's well for them as they can't spend all the money they made over the years. The look on your face when eating the apple cider doughnut said more than words. Almost spit it out bad. You need to find a local bakery that sells apple filled doughnuts with cinnamon sugar on top. Not good for the waistline, but tastes oh so good. Stowe is really only known for one thing, snow skiing. Fall foliage is nice provided there hasn't been dry or bad weather, otherwise the ground is littered with leaves. Oh, one other thing, if the cost of out-of-state fishing licenses weren't so ridiculous, wild fall trout season is nice, if you fish. Trail riding is hit or miss, (a lot of trails are heavily covered with tree roots) but you need a second rider in-case of a crash.

Thank you!
Living and or traveling for long stretches definitely teaches you far more than what you anticipate. Has to be experienced to believe, afterall the journey is the reward. Well done video and such a great introspection, inspiring many to travel more✌️⚡
The most adorable ☺️ thing about the video is HER. ❤
@@jimmaier3613 100% correct. Her authenticity and delivery and love of our country
Thank you for sharing your travels with us!
Hi Sarah! I’m clumsy as well so an easy quick solution for any food stains is to quickly put water on the area and blot it dry to absorb the dirty water. The area will stay wet for a bit, but it may prevent you from having to change your clothes as often.
Thank you for sharing. Please be careful not to disclose your location as you're a young female traveling solo.
All the best & God bless you!
Loved your last narration about the important things in life. That is very true.
Thank you!
Love your experiences & memories! Thank you for your fabulous videos Sarah! 😍💖
Love the trail markers...adds so much to taking the trail.
It looks like they let school kids make little painting for the trail! How exciting for the kids and what a neat idea.
Awesome video. Always nice to see places I've never been to.
I also like when you give the history of the places you go.. very educational and adds a touch of class to your videos 😊
Sarah, Thanks for the tips to keep bears at bay, and hope you never have to put to them to the test. Always a joy to have you show us some fun places and their unique history and fun facts. Be safe on the road and on the trails, Thanks for Sharing...
I live 30 minutes away from Stowe. So delighted to see an adorable person enjoying nature's majesty.
Sarah, you should have stopped in to The Roastery coffee shop, the Nomadic Movement TH-camrs own it. Thanks for another nice video with good historical information. Loving the content. Much Love 💕
I like that you're honest.
Fascinating and great watch as always 👊🏿
I always spill something on the front of my shirts too so what I’ve started doing is I keep an old hand towel handy, and put that on my shirt before I start to eat a drink works like a charm saves on wash.
My dad taught me if you're gonna eat in the car wear a bath towel. All my cars always have an old bath towel. Salespeople with soiled clothes don't present well.
@ hahahaha
You’re so right about materialism these days. That’s some great insight. I also love the honest review of the doughnut. Not everything is the best thing ever.
It's a really popular place so I was surprised. Maybe it was just an off day for them
@@sarahhberkowitz noo people from out of state have just hyped it up so much and ive had better from the grocery store tbh.
There is a coffee machine on her front leather seat.
Thanks for posting this. I went to college about 40 minutes from there. Brings so many memories back.
Knock!
They are my favorite
YES. A Vermont staple!
Vermont is considered to be the safest state! It's my dream state
to live,if only I could afford it😞I
❤ all of New England though!
It isn't. I don't know where you heard that. Bernie and his Progressive disciples have turned the state into a smaller version of California. Rutland and Burlington have high crime rates. I'm sure other Vermont cities do as well. Not to mention an explosion in homelessness statewide.
Not any more. Between the decline and the property taxes…things are grim for VT.
Except for Burlington..
Those paintings are so adorable. ❤❤❤
Congratulations on hitting 40K.
Thank you!

Very nice video !! Thank you, and I love Vermont ! Be safe out there . 🎸
Your parents must have a lot of money 😂
Nice to see you visit Vermont. I also appreciate your honest review of the food 😂.
Pop on over to the Adirondacks. Keene, Keene valley, lake placid, and Saranac.👍💯✌️
I would love it if she would go to Upstate New York in the fall! Then it would be like the Taylor Swift song All Too Well: "We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate / Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place /
And I can picture it after all these days" :D
Next video :)

I live in Vermont! Born and raised my entire life! So glad you get to enjoy our beautiful state! Fall time is gorgeous here! 😊
Vermont is pussy shit. The people in Vermont are the anti christ. They are the stupid goddamn idiots, and they act like they’re black. Vermont is a disgusting disgrace
Me too. Just started my 65th year here.
So nice to see lilly white vt in all it's glory. What America is all about
Your bear socks have probably gone into hibernation. Bet you'll find 'em come spring! 😁😁
😂
Nikki and you are my favorite van lifers! New England was my stomping grounds, I grew up in Lewiston Maine
I’m sure all the locals appreciated you parking perpendicular to the expected designated spots…
Like your experiences. May I suggest fir stains : a small spray bottle with water with a bit of white vinegar then spray the area then sprinkle simple baking soda! It might disappear instantly good luck keep it on.
Vermonters here. Not much to do, but not much to worry about. Mostly calm....😊
Alot to do
I enjoyed Austin's van tour, seemed like a good dude.
Take the hiking trail up to Stowe Pinnacle. It has a bald pray with elevation of 2550 feet. Great views
Stowe VT is the best vacation my wife and I have been on. Stowe has the best headshop if you're into that sort of thing. Stash 'n Stowe, a lot of locally blown glass.
Come to Colorado...great shops and pot is legal
with many experiences you move forward and learn, thanks for the video, it is very relaxing after a tiring week, que tengas lindo sabado Sarita
Ben and Jerry, like all leftwingers, are phonies and emotional manipulators.
I like how different tours of different people is becoming your thing.
Cherry Garcia is the best flavor ever and he’s also the best guitarist that ever lived. Don’t ever forget that.💀
The now discontinued, CHOCOLATE Cherry Garcia is the absolute best flavour.
Yeah right
I met Jerry Garcia in Vegas in 78.
