As lethal as frontal shots can be, I’ve also seen lots of shots made by friends go wrong. Doesn’t mean I won’t take one but it has to be the right situation and I won’t to feel good about in the moment.

    • @kadecleverley3172
      @kadecleverley3172  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I will for sure be getting different broadheads. I’ve usually always shot fixed but switched it up this year. Get this, the broadhead didn’t deploy which also was a reason behind the no blood.

      @matthewholmes8638 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kadecleverley3172 That sucks man. I know the pain. Luckily you recovered the bull. I switched to mechanicals for whitetail for a few years, but am going back to fixed blade. A few tips get a broadhead that is compact like tooth of the arrow etc. Torque tune your bow either with your sight or rest along with your normal tuning. This should help with getting better fixedblade flight.

    • @dzuverink
      @dzuverink ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewholmes8638 I went back to fixed blade cut on contact broadheads 2 years ago, Iron Wills. I increased arrow weight some, high FOC, bare shaft tuned my bow, and now my broadheads fly like field points. I practice to 70yds. I will never go back to mechanicals. The first whitetail I shot with my new arrow setup I blew through both front shoulders.

    Look.. he needs to be pulling closer to 70lbs .. b/c that arrow didn't even penetrate 50% thru the animal. At 15 yards center mass it should have gone clean thru and half thru a spruce too. That's a great way to just wound an animal on a poor shot if he had taken one head on barely quartering to .. even worse. He's not a big kid.. so probably was closer to 55lb draw weight. Fine for a muley but you can see where that arrow stuck. Elk and Moose have bigger ribs. It looks lodged between some ribs but got the lungs.

    • @kadecleverley3172
      @kadecleverley3172  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m shooting a 70 pound draw weight. The reason the arrow didn’t have great penetration was because the expandable I used didn’t deploy properly.
