Back in the day, Diablo 2 and StarCraft cinematics weren’t just good, they were unheard of. I had never seen cutscenes like that, and it made me a life long fan of Blizzard
lol..yeah, you have to finish missions just to see cinematics which was a more realistic version of the gameplay, then after the cinematics are leveling with the gameplay, now, the gameplay and cinematics are the same.. insane evolution. Starcraft is the best, especially "legacy of the void"
I always loved the way Diablo 2's story is told. You can almost entirely grasp the story just from the cinematics alone. (Minus Arreat and the Worldstone, which I'm glad you already understood about.) Marius is such an unfortunate soul. He may have been a fool for releasing Baal but the poor guy was dealing with powers far beyond his understanding. He just wanted to smoke and forget about the horrible things he'd seen. Also your reactions to the gateman being blown up by Baal were absolutely priceless.
I'm a hardcore Diablo fan but I was like 5 when Diablo 2 came out and I've never seen those e3 trailers for Diablo 2 so thank you for being the first reactor I've seen to watch them XD.
watching this is like reliving my childhood. The scene when tyrael rises up from the pit gave me goose bumps. Tyrael is by far my favorite angelic character ever designed for any game ever
You guys should absolutely react to the diablo 3 cinematics. Not just the main one from the game trailer, but the ones between each act of the game's story. Even after seeing them so many times over the years they still give me chills.

It might be obvious but when you listened to t he recent lore series released from the Diablo channel, all of the contents in these videos was explained even if it's not obvious since the lore series was explained so eloquently.
You guys should watch ASTARTES parts 1-5. If you think 'Diablo' is badass you will be blown away! Side note this channel is going to explode, we can all feel it. You guys are wonderful.
i played the first game in like 1997-1998 when i was 9-10 and diablo 1 was literally the most terrifying game to me. the music and graphic style was just so creepy. and not to mention it was more mysterious. you were in this creepy quiet town and had to explore a church and descend into hell. diablo 4 tried to go back to its "darker" roots but the whole premise of demons and angels going into war and all this shit going on around the world with clashes of soliders fighting...it doesnt have that same creepy quiet horror feel. its more "epic". still having fun but i was hoping it would have deviated a bit more from Diablo 3 in some little subtle ways.
I always enjoy peep's first reaction to Diablo 2 cinematics. Since we follow Marius and not the player heroes, the story is self contained. So you get to watch a full short story within the game.
OH HELL YEAH. These cinematics were UNREAL for their time. Even now, they still hit so hard because of how powerful the voice acting, sound design, and story are. Can't wait for the Diablo 3 cinematic reactions!
Back in the day these cinematics were *the* standard. Each sequence took literally a year or more so they outsourced it to a couple studios to get them all done in time for the games release. Even going back to Warcraft 2 and Starcraft 1 they were using absolutely cutting edge technology.
It's fun watching the old Blizzard cinematics, because at the time, they were at the absolute bleeding edge of what was possible with 3DCG animation... and they were all breathtaking, whether for Diablo, Warcraft or Starcraft. Now they're not just dated, they're a little bit sad. Not just the technology has changed; today, game budgets rival those of major Hollywood movies.
You girls should check out the rest of Blizzards cinematics, World of Warcraft has some amazing ones, Starcraft as well. Also, it's a good idea to check out some fan made lore videos so you can enjoy the story a bit more and onow who is in the cinematics for each one. A good start would be The Story of Arthas Menethil, then the Wrath of the Lich King trailer
While it is crazy how far cinematics have come since this - this was a massive step up from even a few years prior. Look up the Warcraft 2 cinematics - its so blocky and stilted and undetailed. And even that was impressive for the mid 90's.
These may seem rudimentary now, but these were on the cutting edge of CG when they released. All of this was done without motion capture or actors to assist the movement.
omg, what a trip down memory lane i was 32 when Diablo came out and been hooked ever since... now playing the s.h.i.t out of D4 and yes as others has mentioned , this should have been the remastered version, it is SO much better

33:58 Diablo 1 cinematics, and those low quality trailers for diablo2 -> are from 1996 (diablo 1 released 31 dec 1996)/1997... all diablo2 cinematics(you can tell by change on graphic quality) are 2000(diablo2 release) and 2001 (Lord of Destruction release). Diablo created a genere on it's own. And since first part was a commercial success, a lot more cash was put into production of Diablo 2... which broke few records in gaming world. Diablo2 is so far, most popular of all Diablo series, and has people still playing it, 20 years later... especialy, that back in 2021, Diablo2: Lord of Destruction, was remade with modern graphics (also cinematics were redrawn with higher quality and more details in most scene's) and published as Diablo 2: Ressurected.
They updated the cinematics when they released Diablo 2 Resurrected. I'd say it's worth watching them just to see how much different they look compared to these.

An angels wings in the Diablo universe aren't what we typically think of when we think of wings. Angels are beings made up of pure light and sound. They can fly without the need of wings and the like. Their "wings" are really just other parts of their body they couldn't fully fit into their armor. Like a fat dude in a tiny coat their "wings" are just what got left out. Their armor is rather useless too, and mainly just serves to distinguish rank and position. Sorry I'm a nerd when it comes to this universes story. I love it. Guess the Diablo 3 act cinematics would be next up if you wanna dive more into the games' cutscenes. Or see the visual difference with Diablo 2's Remake CGI.

The jump in quality between diablo 1 and 2 are pretty crazy considering it was relased just 3 years later.

I only can encourage you to watch the Diablo4 ingame-cinematics they are story based and like 1-2 min each, in total 30 min i think, super nice.

I warmly recommend diablo 4 if you are considering playing. diablo 2 is and will probably always be the best, but d4 is really nice so far!
