Nintendo used to be child friendly only. They won’t allow this type of games I guess? But I saw some great horror games on NDS so who knows. It’s interesting to see how the evolution of gameplay could make games much better on these old platforms without new graphics. Only if we could turn back time and apply what we have learnt through all these years, the game world would have been crazily different.
Actual horror games that are meant to scare you, rather than just being action games with spooky-themed enemies like Castlevania, weren’t really a thing until the fifth generation of consoles.

@@isaiasroldancisneros6293 Lovecraft was an American writer, author of many horror novels. Amongst his most known creation there is Cthulhu, a primordial monstrous creature who sleeps at the bottom of the sea, waiting to be awaken and destroy life as we know it. Quite the fun, really.
@cory that's true, also because actually only a few part of Lovecraft's novels involved sea. I think he meant that the atmosphere and the story could suit well a Lovecraftian story, and I agree.
This was a great concept with a good framing device let down by some pretty terrible level design: numerous times you go from left to right, which breaks the flow of travel in a bad way.
I know its that way because itd make sense to have cameras set up like that But they really should have gone for function over form as far as that goes
That would work great for a game with tank controls: no matter from which direction you come from, if you're holding the up button, you always keep going forward, effectively nullifying that problem.
Fun security fact, if a security company expects you to apprehend individuals they issue tasers, paper spray, zip cuffs, you know basic non lethal control methods for unwanted humans. But a museum of this size would have several armed guards with fire arms, not a singular night watchman who isn't even issued a baton. For example an ornamental foot bridge near a community center may have a single overnight fire arm issued guard, that is only to prevent vandalism of city property. Compare to protecting a few million dollars worth of live animals, anatomy exhibits etc.
The scene at the end reminded me of the monsters from Gyo. Amazing demo! I did not intend to watch it in one sitting but it was a really atmospheric, catching story. Hope there'll be more to come!
Day:1 I finally got the job! This has been my dream since high school! I used to visit this museum with my grandfather before he passed away. The nostalgia... Day:2 I met the boss for the first time. He seems... weird.... For starters he keeps an entire human skeleton in his office. It’s fake though (I think anyway) He allocated me the job of night watch. Not the best job to do but it’s fine. I’ve always wanted to know what this place looks like after closing time. Day:3 I stayed my first night yesterday and I could already sense that something way off. There is almost no lighting in any of the enclosures which makes my flashlight my only source of sight. I accidentally walked into one of the human models on display. Gave me a fucking heart attack. I swear it was looking right at me and.... breathing shallowly.... Another thing. I can hear laughing and sometimes moaning coming from the rooms near my station. Must be a sick prank. Day:4 . .. ... there’s something about this game.... out of all the horror games i’ve watched on this channel, i keep thinking about this one. it’s got this utterly perfect atmosphere to be scary but still deeply intriguing, and i find myself coming back to watch this video time and time again. i really hope the devs get all the support they need to finish this!
honestly, coming back to this game, i only have one real gripe with it, which is that it seems to be drawing on the “myth” of the ‘lost colony of roanoke’, which is... not really a mystery anymore. it’s pretty obvious to anyone that looks into the history that the ‘lost colony’ simply relocated to live on croatoan island with its native population it makes me a little worried that this game is going to lean into really nasty stereotypes and harmful myths about native americans, and how they lived and are living today. hopefully the final game will be more nuanced and respectful about it.
In case anyone was unaware, that little story at the beginning is true. It is about the "Lost Colony", a settlement of 100 people that had disappeared by the time its Governor, John White, returned a year later. All that remained of it when John White returned from gathering supplies in England was the word "CROATOAN" carved on a post of a palisade the settlers put up and the letters "CRO" on a tree. Common theories include them being wiped out by a hostile Native American tribe (possibly the Croatoan tribe itself) or assimilating with a tribe, but no one knows for sure.
Yes I know and there is also an aquarium on Roanoke island but no museums for the Chinese body exhibit to go to. Just curious why the author decided to choose the outer banks as the location instead of a lesser known place, or a made up place?
"If I donate my body to science and it winds up in some kind of Anatomy Exhibit, I am coming back as a ghost and haunting your ass!" This game: Also this game: Perfect usage of second-person player mechanics.
holy crap this is some real spook, if this was like a run of the mill horror game the scary bits would have started way before, you are constantly on edge waiting for something to happen but you dont know what, I also really like the anotomy section where the transitions between rooms is so weird and freaky ahhh, this game is scary man
the scariest part of this game was the countdown maze, because at no point of our patrol could I visualize where we were spatially or predict where we were going. I'd be trapped there indefinitely
I just played for myself. I tried putting some food in Julio's tank to get it to come out and this little pixelated... thing appeared in the bottom corners of the screen when I checked the tank. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be Julio but I guess it's something.
@@foxtailzerda9108 Yeah I did that too. But that couldn't be them, the tank is enormous and there's nothing in the notes about them changing size when they eat or anything.
I really like the details they put into this to make you feel like the old man is really creeping on you through those security cameras. Like when the power goes out and you can see his reflection in the screen and whenever he can’t see you, you see the world through Bobbet’s point of view.

"Can you beat the demo in under an hour?" Not with all the times I was screaming "WRONG WAY!" at my computer while watching the second half of this. They've added a little bit since I watched someone else play about 4 or 5 months ago I think, but I'm very excited to see what the finished product will be.
9:41 the second shift will involve the Flasher. Which is that polyester soaked corpse and the middle of the room. Oh I fear there's going to be a lot of those reanimated corpses running around later in the game. Is going to be intense I know they're working hard on this game.
No, that was the Julio monster that was “found at the bottom of the Marina Trench”, it broke the glass and escaped because the temperature was messed with. Or at least I think it was.
Zyon Couldnt have been Julio, the info tablet near Julio’s tank said it was a Mollusc The monster at the end was likely Bertha because it was a massive shark with 2 pairs of human limbs sticking out, most likely the 2 bodies she ate
Ok guys, I might be a little late, but I have a theory: the chemical used to make these corpses could’ve killed the shark itself, giving the corpses complete control over the shark.
The real life Roanoke mystery is actually, in my opinion, solved! I’ll put a read more so you can keep the magic if you want. They simply left the colony and assimilated into the local native population. Surviving members, at least. Notes they left hinted to this, and archaeological remains analyzed by two separate teams suggest they split into two camps which then made new homes there. Their belongings were found in lived in areas, suggesting they took things with them when they left that were either useful or important to them- like rings.

The old man body guard could a traitor, because he knows the bodies are alive and roaming around every night but he actuallly used the player body guard as his shield. The old man knows the bodies are actually active and alive.
yeah, I mean if the bodies are too busy chasing the security guard roaming the museum they won't focus on him
THIS IS ONLY A DEMO?? WOW. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE ENTIRE GAME, IT’S PHENOMENAL.
Definitely the coolest GBA styled game I've seen yet on this channel.
a night of the museum reboot looks like a lovecraft tale
What is Lovecraft?

@@isaiasroldancisneros6293 Lovecraft was an American writer, author of many horror novels. Amongst his most known creation there is Cthulhu, a primordial monstrous creature who sleeps at the bottom of the sea, waiting to be awaken and destroy life as we know it.
Quite the fun, really.
@cory that's true, also because actually only a few part of Lovecraft's novels involved sea.
I think he meant that the atmosphere and the story could suit well a Lovecraftian story, and I agree.
@@michelepella2768 ok thats kinda creepy if You ask me
This was a great concept with a good framing device let down by some pretty terrible level design: numerous times you go from left to right, which breaks the flow of travel in a bad way.
I know its that way because itd make sense to have cameras set up like that
But they really should have gone for function over form as far as that goes
-t. smoothbrain who's never played the original resis or dmcs
(you're not exactly wrong)
WORD BRUDDAH
I think the main problem was that you'd enter the next screen on the side you exited on, occasionally.
That would work great for a game with tank controls: no matter from which direction you come from, if you're holding the up button, you always keep going forward, effectively nullifying that problem.
This game has so much potential, I hope they finish it.
That feeling when after all that you can't cash the cheque because it says "Bobbet" instead or "Bobbert"
Jesus Christ dude, the way they just shamble up to him is somehow so much worse than a jump scare.

Best Part
Day:1
I finally got the job! This has been my dream since high school! I used to visit this museum with my grandfather before he passed away. The nostalgia...
Day:2
I met the boss for the first time. He seems... weird.... For starters he keeps an entire human skeleton in his office. It’s fake though (I think anyway) He allocated me the job of night watch. Not the best job to do but it’s fine. I’ve always wanted to know what this place looks like after closing time.
Day:3
I stayed my first night yesterday and I could already sense that something way off. Must be a sick prank.

there’s something about this game.... out of all the horror games i’ve watched on this channel, i keep thinking about this one. it’s got this utterly perfect atmosphere to be scary but still deeply intriguing, and i find myself coming back to watch this video time and time again. i really hope the devs get all the support they need to finish this!
Their most recent activity on the game's itch.io page was only a few weeks ago, so they're definitely still on it
@@aortaplatinum fantastic!!
I feel the same way about it. Such a mystery!
I really thought I was the only person who thought this was a different and special game!
honestly, coming back to this game, i only have one real gripe with it, which is that it seems to be drawing on the “myth” of the ‘lost colony of roanoke’, which is... not really a mystery anymore. it’s pretty obvious to anyone that looks into the history that the ‘lost colony’ simply relocated to live on croatoan island with its native population
it makes me a little worried that this game is going to lean into really nasty stereotypes and harmful myths about native americans, and how they lived and are living today. hopefully the final game will be more nuanced and respectful about it.
When you didn't notice or click on the picture in the slot I was frantically shouting at my TV and I'm still angry
Adrick Lynn me too I’m glad someone else noticed
Where was that in the video? What was the time stamp?
@@TheEarth1874 24:38
The aquarium music sounds like the Lavender Town theme.
If this is just the demo, I can't wait to see the full game.
The “Bertha is a megalodon” sub plot is kinda interesting
55:56 Go Bertha.
1:00:56 NO! BERTHA, YOU BETRAY ME!
"F" to pay respects for an American hero who got possessed by haunted psycho plastinated bodies.
I noticed Bertha has some human hands on her near her head.
Could be Bertha who killed them, it’s a rather weird but niche thing to put in the game
Yes I know and there is also an aquarium on Roanoke island but no museums for the Chinese body exhibit to go to. Just curious why the author decided to choose the outer banks as the location instead of a lesser known place, or a made up place?
They moved and didn't leave a forwarding address
"So the shark ate the walking corpses, what else is there to be afraid of in this game anymore?"
*suddenly pulls some Gyo bullshit*

I see what you did there lol

Also this game: Perfect usage of second-person player mechanics.
holy crap this is some real spook, if this was like a run of the mill horror game the scary bits would have started way before, you are constantly on edge waiting for something to happen but you dont know what, I also really like the anotomy section where the transitions between rooms is so weird and freaky ahhh, this game is scary man
the scariest part of this game was the countdown maze, because at no point of our patrol could I visualize where we were spatially or predict where we were going. I'd be trapped there indefinitely
Man, the aquarium music is surprisingly chill...
When the power outage happened I was like: *aaand this is where shit hits the fan*
we still don't know what julio is
the notes said a mollusk i think so maybe a giant clam?
I just played for myself. I tried putting some food in Julio's tank to get it to come out and this little pixelated... thing appeared in the bottom corners of the screen when I checked the tank. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be Julio but I guess it's something.
@@foxtailzerda9108 Yeah I did that too. But that couldn't be them, the tank is enormous and there's nothing in the notes about them changing size when they eat or anything.
Julio may be a giant squid?

I really like the details they put into this to make you feel like the old man is really creeping on you through those security cameras. Like when the power goes out and you can see his reflection in the screen and whenever he can’t see you, you see the world through Bobbet’s point of view.

This kind of museum realy exists. I visited one, its called Mensch-Museum. The grafic art in this game is great!
*Menschen Museum.
@@YeetZmeN Yes, Museum des Menschen, that's what i mean. I very like the lovely details in the game like the glass wall with the painted bones on it that you can stand behind it and look from the other side how does it look like inside the body xD

This is my most liked comment! Thank you all so much! 🥰
@Mialisus yeah cause we all have the same horror experiences -_-
Reminds me of Vinesauce Joel's first time seeing the bathroom alien in Signal Simulator.
I didn't notice that face in the window.
Gotta say, having something stalk you is much more terrifying than a normal jumpscare.
Honestly was scared by the creepy monsters in the game, like they have a huge mystery behind them. I don't think they could've picked a better way of doing this game.
I love how the game explained the third view camera as actually a Camera.
Looks amazing, I'm honestly curious what the entire game would look like if it werent GB styled but had realistic graphics or was in full color with higher resolutions (I'm not complaining about style/graphics it's cool, but just really curious because darn this looks good).
Graphics aren't everything. It might make it worse
There needs to be more of this... WAY more of this.
I’m working my security job right now and it’s made me so god damn paranoid

Is it just me or did the expression of those exhibits change to "happy" when he walked by this time?
I swear the first time, the 3rd was grumpy looking
Was I the only one who got really wound up whenever it got quiet?
Nope. Not gonna lie, as soon as the first cadaver showed up I was on edge. Holy freaking sh!t this game is good at tension
55:55 that shark ate soooo much poison just there
Bobbet: *Sees anatomy exhibition missing it's body*
Bobbet: "Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!"
I think that the idea of this is that the horror of what caused the original Roanoke colony to disappear... (Pause for dramatic effect) Is still there.
"Can you beat the demo in under an hour?" Not with all the times I was screaming "WRONG WAY!" at my computer while watching the second half of this. Still, an astounding game, the aquatic section was downright horrifying, though I was mostly traumatized by the harmless display models of the moasasaur, squid, and elasmosaur.
Hell of a first day on the job

"Alright what changed?!"
This is the most excited I've been for an indie game's full release in forever.
Types in the name: *Bobbert*
Old guy: “Hello now, welcome aboard BOBBET!”
The second shift? As in a second game or a dlc?
Notice something this is more focus on body science museum
I'm so excited to see the full version of this!
This is such a compelling game, everything is really well done
Also the jokes had me cackling, great to see in a horror game
1:00:57
Bloody hell
Was that the shark that ate those two earlier?
I think she got infected by eating the zombies.
No, that was the Julio monster that was “found at the bottom of the Marina Trench”, it broke the glass and escaped because the temperature was messed with. Or at least I think it was.
Zyon Couldnt have been Julio, the info tablet near Julio’s tank said it was a Mollusc
The monster at the end was likely Bertha because it was a massive shark with 2 pairs of human limbs sticking out, most likely the 2 bodies she ate
PunishedWhirligig which... Means they’re still alive...
Ok guys, I might be a little late, but I have a theory: the chemical used to make these corpses could’ve killed the shark itself, giving the corpses complete control over the shark.

Bobbet: You did not read my wish!
Daniel: *sighs* ..is your wish to have the bucket-
Bobbet: YES
The real life Roanoke mystery is actually, in my opinion, solved! I’ll put a read more so you can keep the magic if you want.
They simply left the colony and assimilated into the local native population. Surviving members, at least. Notes they left hinted to this, and archaeological remains analyzed by two separate teams suggest they split into two camps which then made new homes there. Their belongings were found in lived in areas, suggesting they took things with them when they left that were either useful or important to them- like rings.
Yeah, they left and didn't leave a forwarding address
I could manage the skinless jelly-zombies and killer nudists, but a giant dorito shark?
