Jet drives need a lot of RPM. A stock HF motor is governed down to about 3750.. and the flywheel isn't safe to go much more than that. the clutch seems like a good idea, but maybe you could use a jack shaft to give a little boost to the RPM.... just a thought. it's what i did with some of my karts.
Well from what I can see it appears he has like a 3 to 1 ish sprocket setup. So if engine is 3500rpm the pump will be doin 3 times that rpm. But he doesn't say the gear ratios or where they come from so all I can go off of is what I see. I don't think it has the power to pull of that gear ratio but it moves decent enough to play with.
You got the right idea going. I have ridden kawasaki 550's for a long time. The back of the boat needs to be lower. That boat is so wide the pump isnt low enough in the water for that slow of a speed. The 550's pump area bears all the weight of the rider directly over the pump when riding. Keep it up!
Not bad at all. I've been trying to figure out how to replace my missing sailboat diesel with one of those. The two things that are hanging me up are whether the air-cooled engine will will overheat in the engine compartment, setting up some kind of thru-hull exhaust and, of course, whether the carburetor and tank will produce a lot of gas fumes. If anybody's done this, please post a link.
3:37 ya can’t run that like that! Your going to need an idler gear for the chain,,, riskaie but I’ll allow it just because we’re in a hurry. Back to it. I’m thinking this for my boat but the motor rise is holding me up..
Take that freaking predator motor off of there And put a 400 Honda engine off of a motorcycle for a 650 even then you'll be flying Plus plus you'll have some gears
Good thing it wasn't your time. I guarantee you the guy that did ot didn't see it as a waste amd his friends enjoyed. Plus the dude made money off of views, so seems like a legit win win for the man. I applaud him
I have a 1955 feathercraft 14 ft i put a 1200 sporster in the bow mated to a cvt long shaft . Testing different prop sizes and pitches. Im working on they to put a gearbox in it. Its challenging to say the least!
Nice, Next how about doing it Electric for those No-Motor Lakes????
Cool,,, that was fun 👍 don’t forget your idle gear. Idk it seems like that motor would plane that boat to me.
Not 500 cc's

Wrong. My coast guard 45 rbms i drove had diesels with a max rpm of 2350. 45 knots

Where did you find the sprocket that fits the pump shaft? I can not find one anywhere that i think will work
You will need to tap the sprocket I believe m18
How did you build the jet drive and bucket and how did you make the housing!
Used Kawasaki jk 550 pump
@@midwesthobbies did you do the fiber glass for the sea chest?
Sea chest ?
@@midwesthobbies yeah the casement in the hull that houses the jet, bucket, and shaft. did you make that?
No used Kawasaki js 550 hull
What is the maximum engine shaft output speed?
I’m welding my boat, what did you use, whats the weld idk 🤷 what to use
Tig primweld 225 and used heavy duty gorilla caulk to clamp the jet ski
Direct drive and I bet you'd be surprised with the performance, even though 500 cc's is not going to be earth-shattering
How many teeth on the big sprocket and how many teeth on the small sprocket?
47-26 I need to get a smaller drive sprocket
@@midwesthobbies let me get this straight so you plan is having a bigger sprocket on the motor right and a smaller sprocket on the pump shaft?
@@brandondriver4999 no smaller on the motor
I wonder if anyone has ever done a mechanical bilge pump on a river boat like this?
Check out my part two video let me know what you think of the idler pulley

I want to do the same for my sailboats. Harbor Frieght diesel are cheap. How to cool?

just mount the whole bike and steer with the handle bars. be zooming down the river. 😂🍻
