Installed 18 of these a little over a month ago (have 2 sunrooms which are basically all windows on 3 sides). I'm using smarthings to automate them based on sunrise/sunset, away modes, etc as well as using alexa as needed. Took a while to set them up in the smarthings b/c you can't batch set heights but aside from that, loving them so far. Spent around 4k all in. Other smart shades would have set me back closer to 10k for the number i needed.
Don't be fooled when this says "affordable" I just checked and they are no more or less affordable than all the other over priced motorized blinds out there.
Priced the same setup on lutron Serena and these. It's just slightly over 1/2 the price. I'm covering 3 huge windows and prices just quickly with wider windows.
Hi, I am looking for an outside mount option since I don't have a lot of wiggle room for an inside mount. The window trims are 1 3/4" in height. Do you know the height of the valance of shades is enough to cover the top trim ? I don't like it exposed if outside mount is the only option I have.
the reasoning behind this is it allows him to allow sunlight in via the 50% inside mount without the home feeling like a fish bowl. And blackout for the evenings.
He made a mistake and should’ve mounted the blackout on the inside for a “tighter seal” and the 50% transparent shades on the outside since light will be bleeding through anyway.
Great idea but now i am deciding to spend either 100 for a window on faux shades sinc eeach room has 6 windows and these will run me expensive. For a whole house.
Lights, locks, security cameras, thermostat. The lights are the only one of those that gets adjusted often the rest are set and forget. I love the eufy smartlock
With the SmartWings blinds, are they centered in the window (for inside mount) when installed or 1/2 off to one side due to motor placement in the cassette?
How lazy have we humans become that we cannot even walk 3 feet from out bed to the window to close it. If there is an aconomic collapse, 95% of people will not survive
@@GM-cr4ykso a Mercedes S class is affordable because a Rolls is more expensive? Does the fact that a crazy expensive option exists, make everything else afforfable?

Hi Christopher, thank you for posting pricing, i havent checked the website but do they offer shades for big windows?
@@GeneralCondom Yep, we got one that covers a full slider - 70 inches wide by 84 high.
Hi Oswald - Did you get the Z-wave plus smart motor or the Zigbee? If you get zigbee, did you need a zigbee hub and smartthings hub to control it?
Did you get the ones that are mounted inside the window frame or outside?
Do you have to charge each one of them? Or is there a way you charge one and charges all?
Do you have to charge each motor if you have5 of them installed. I really need to know
My dream is a house completely outfitted with smart shades... they would be so convenient!
Imagine one button to control ALL the window shades in your home... it's amazing 🤩
@@AuthenTech ➡️ hello Ben ., do they make these shades for skylight windows
@@Voltrondefenderoftheuniverse yes
@@alexyang5956 ➡️thanks 👍🏻

Have you looked at the Lutron Serena?
Compared to Lutron Serena, which would have been my first choice if not for the price, the price of Smartwing’s shades are actually pretty decent.
Any alternative recommendations?

brb... measuring all my windows. probably won't order the blinds because I'll forget to, but they look AWESOME
what are the name of those cabinets?
Does it work. With Tuya Bridge
Well... Are the tuya China cloud based or can i use them a little more dumb mode?

What's your reasoning behind putting the layered blackout shade as an outside mount and not an inside window frame mount. Loved the video.

The problems with all the shades is they never block out all the light from coming in.. i like it pitch black
You need German tech
Can't remember if you mentioned warranty?
Can I pair them with a third party Smart button?
I actually like your dual layer trick, Ben. I just ordered a few, but I think I'll make some updates for my master bedroom.
Care to elaborate? Did you like them?
Hi, would you know if these shades work with apple HomeKit?
They do now
is there blackout version of these?
What is the warranty
They start at $179 or $198. But you have add ons. Motor, solar panel, shipping etc. I ordered for 2 sliding glass doors and I ended up paying $1,500
I guess he’s definition of affordable isn’t ours
What a deal! lol
That’s crazy !!
These look great! Thanks for the amazing review!
ahh my windows are 106 inches wide I'd need two & there would be a gap between them
Look nice but I'd stick to buying a paper shade for my room I'm staying on rent month to month cuz I don't plan to stay there any longer next summer.
Are they synchronized when going up and down?
No they're not, at least not the HomeKit version.
Great vid budd, thank you
Could you use android phone to control those shades or is It only iPhone
Yes, Android works too. You can get Alexa controllers, or other means/apps of control
@@AuthenTech awesome
Samsung smart things comes preloaded on most androids now
What else would you recommend for those starting up their smart homes? Like top 3 things that you currently use?

I’m just starting my journey and I’ve decided smart shades, thermostat, and lighting.
thanks for redefining what is ' affordable.'
it is not possible to install this in 5 mins

thanks bro
2 months in, still happy? Considering nearly 2 dozen of these.
Still running them and love the automations! Haven't had to charge batteries yet which I'm impressed. ST app says battery approx 45% left
I’m looking for some that works with Siri.
Nice
Cool idea, but way too expensive
"Not much more". Proceeds to show blinds at half the price
This is just an ad for smartwings
Hand gestures are distracting
🤩
Thumbs down, at $500 with motor it is not affordable. Starting price is without motor,
What blinds are you looking at?
Yea $300 is affordable for one blind…mfer
$175? no thanks
“Shades you can afford” Total comes out to 400
Exactly and he has 15 of them. wow
Do you know how much blinds like Serena or Hunter Douglas cost? Likely 3-4 times as much!
I clean windows, dirty glass.
I'll never understand how anyone considers $150+ per blind "affordable"
How lazy have we humans become that we cannot even walk 3 feet from out bed to the window to close it. If there is an aconomic collapse, 95% of people will not survive
It's not that you can't it just improves your quality of life and makes you happier
These are not affordable
These are base price
They charge you for every feature
