Every time I watch Yuja Wang perform, any of my feelings of anger or despair toward the world disappear, as I realize how grateful I am to be able to witness such artistry as this.
Sometimes I listen to other great pianists past and present, while scrolling around on TH-cam like all of us, and then I get to Yuja, and I stop. It's the whole package, the clarity, the touch. the musicality of the phrasing. Oh my goodness!
She is what she is . . . a phenomenon, ravishing, gifted, scandalous and astonishing! Why not just enjoy? Yuja Wang is an great artist AND a magnificent woman. Is that too much to handle?
why not just tell the truth? why not just tell you see a woman of your dream? music not music, who cares. decrease a sound of your phone to zero, you will be same impressed😅

Yuja Wang brilliantly completed her first cycle of the three Bartók piano concertos - the Second on Thursday and Friday; the Third on Saturday and Sunday - the latest step for the 30-year-old virtuoso on the path to possibly becoming one of the world’s most important pianists. Gustavo Dudamel surrounded the concertos with alluringly eerie accounts of Stravinsky’s “Symphonies of Wind Instruments” and spectacular ones of Janácek’s brassy Sinfonietta." Oh poor , mentally ill sexist Mario/Georges! ;-)

Yuja Wang has only one person to measure with in the world of classic music, Yuja herself, no one else to compare with so uniquely talented she is, a kind of lonely situation which is the currency of most great artists. What a marvellous gift to humanity for everyone to hear and see her playing, it gives hope in a world of hopeless politics saturated with interminable social conflicts.
@@beckerhanshermann8372 dude what s your problem. It has nothing to do with the way she dresses and if ure a truly classical music enthusiast ud know that. I mean it is about tastes and your comment is rude and based on nothing
@@beckerhanshermann8372 as I ve said its your opinion and a matter of taste in fact. But I assure u that Yuja is a high level performer probably not the best pianistic appearance but still...
@@beckerhanshermann8372 You're entitled to your opinion. Do you really, sincerely not like her "playing", or is it the attention she gets that you don't like?
She is absolutely phenomenal! And I think Chopin would not have been satisfied until he saw fingers and arms flying from the pianist's body. I have no words.
Like her dress or not, it won’t impact her a little bit. She’s so talented and strong inside that she doesn’t give a dime about whether you approve or not. This is a woman doesn’t follow other’s steps
An that is what I admire most about Yuja, all highly intelligent women regardless of their field tend to have similar characteristics, I only wish I could attract such women, but most highly intelligent women are attracted to strong intelligent successful men who tend to be very narcissistic, vein and arrogant and attract other women , so they seldom stay faithful, and usually play the field, our strengths are are also our weaknesses...no one is perfect, so one must enjoy life the best we can according to our desires, lol Peace!!
You are wrong: It follows the maxims of marketing. She has to stand out to get a lot of attention in the form of clicks in the (social) media. You also posted. Attention can be turned into money, e.B. from sponsors. Her appearance in this dress and the shoes she can't walk in is ridiculous. As a person, I don't take them seriously.
@@beckerhanshermann8372 exactly sex sells it's the oldest advertising theme in the world for better or worse. I go to a brothel or a concert I don't like the two mixed
I get so excited whenever I see a new major performance of hers on TH-cam. We all have an incredible opportunity to watch this artist as she grows and matures in her playing and expands her repertoire. Looking back decades from now, we'll be able to know that we witnessed something truly special.
I am not a musician, I am just a common person that listen to music to enjoy the art and enrich my soul. Yuja Wang's playing does all that and on top of it is beautiful, graceful and sexy. Thanks God we have her.
attending such a performance in Paris in 2017.03.27 was a pure and true enjoyment. I felt embarked in heaven. She acts exactly as she advises young pianists : "Go with the flow, be creative, transcend to something more cosmic." The 21 is jazzy.
The extreme power in which she plays preludes like 9, 16, 22 and 24 and the contrasting delicacy of preludes such as 3, 4, and 23 is remarkable. Absolutely incredible and free interpretations. An honor to listen to. :)
There are about 500 kids in the conservatories today who can play better than this, but I'll reckon you've never made the effort to even hear them. If you must have your Chopin Preludes played by someone who lights up a cocktail dress, check out Beatrice Rana. Light years beyond YW. If you can have your Chopin Preludes played by a middle-aged man who couldn't wear a cocktail dress to save his life, try Shura Cherkassky. Light years beyond YW or Beatrice Rana.
I had a chance to tour this opera house a couple of years ago when I was in Venice. It was burnt down and rebuilt. I wish I was there in this recital. Never know Chopin's Preludes played as a whole can be this fabulous, this profound. The acoustic is so good. The performance is absolutely out of this world. A Chinese girl playing Polish music this good was unthinkable 30 or 40 years ago. Just close your eyes if you want (or if you can), and you will hear how sublime the music is.
I'm so happy and fortunate to see and hear Yuja Wong wonderful playing of these beautiful music. I appreciate her purity in love of piano music and lovingly sharing her talent of piano performance with the world What an admirable humble humanity. Long live Yuja for your pure, beautiful, loving humanity expressed through your magnificent piano playing!
@@starplatinum7581 Miss Wang does not take off her clothes to make her audience close their eyes. She undresses and stalks on high heels to the piano so that she can be seen and spoken of. She is an attention whore. By the way: Chopin's Preludes are played more convincingly by other pianists. Miss Wang is very overrated.
@@beckerhanshermann8372 Yes poor Becker, you should have stopped at a brothel before the concert and cleared your thoughts so that could appreciate her music.

To memorize all this music I think it takes a far higher level of consciousness. She sees the music in her mind as patterns and landscapes. She is a prodigy absolutely no doubt and that we are hearing her art is a gift from the universe.
interesting perspective, but i think you are right. memorisation doesn't happen on the note-level, it is indeed something you can "hear" in your mind. personally, when i memorise, it never takes conscious effort, it's just a by product of practice. i am sure it's like that for yuja as well. I'm not sure how other people memorise though, note-by-note? i'm not sure.
@@megumi_0 I am a bit dislectic when reading music. It takes ages if I can't hear the piece. I recall trying to play pieces by Scott Joplin years ago. Having an album to actually hear the music used to help a lot. Miss Wang of course is galaxies away from my humble endeavors. 🙂
I don't find memorizing pieces hard. I almost start doing it as soon as I start to learn a piece so I don't have to waste my focus on the score, though I admit that I am a bit unusual that way as I am not much above an intermediate player who could only play about half these preludes. I don't believe the memorization itself represents another level, but it certainly helps achieve better music, for me at least.
rubbish; you don't know what she is seeing. Without practice, it's just romantic words. SHe worked hard for it and was committed. You have no right to not recognize the tremendous work it takes.
I had tickets to see this wonderful pianist live at the Barbican in London earlier in the year, and then covid-19 came along so it was cancelled. What a dreadful shame. But I do enjoy seeing and listening to her on TH-cam too. It is a joy to see her fingers simply dance over the keys. I play the piano too but my fingers are like wooden legs in comparison.
Yuja is a great personality with excellelnt, fine music sense. She is my favorite pianist. From a single little Chinese girl she has grown to be the world's best. I think she is the best.
To me Yuja is like the violinist Hilary Hahn, You will never ever get disappointed. They are so perfect on clarity, musicality, expression, posture, beauty. Perfection on every note. Such a powerful women....
Incredible talent, beautiful to look at and listen too, along with her perfect posture. I live in Fort Worth, TX and have been blessed to witness and listen to hundreds of wonderful, talented pianists through 15 Van Cliburn International Piano completions. There is no doubt in my mind she would have won all of them, and that is not to diminish the wonderful winners. I hope to live long enough to see and hear her in person one day!
Yuja Wang is entertainment folks- and boy can she entertain- her skills are mad - her look is stunningly gorgeous and her aura is fascinating- she's the whole package!
Chopin is the epitomy of lyricism: His music calls for the finest and most delicate touch on the piano keys, and a reflective air. To use Karl Gustav Jung's terms,Chopin is an introvert. Yuja Want is an extrovert. She is bursting vigor. There is even something agressive in her touch. She often attacks the piano keys. She is wonderful in stormy music, and a great virtuoso. As a Chopinist, I love Valentina Igoshina.
Her harsh sound when she plays loud is unfortunately always the same whatever composer she plays. And of course inappropriate in Chopin. She said herself in a (written) interview that she feels bored with Mozart and Chopin (and I think it must be the same with Schumann). But she is fantastic in the modern and contemporary repertoire where her technical and rhythmical skills are at her best.
Introverti ne veux pas dire manquer de vigueur, d'autres pianistes l'abordent aussi de cette manière, la guimauve n'est écrite dans les annotations des partitions toutefois je vais me pencher sur Valentina et on en reparle.
This excellent musician _lives_ inside the music of the incomparable Chopin. And brings it to new life for all the world to love. Thank you for sharing your spirit with us, Yuja Wang!
Yuja Wang is gift from God to humanity, a rare artistic treasure, beautiful representative of her native China, as well as her adopted USA. Her charm, charisma, magnetism, sincerity, break down cultural, ethnic barriers, bringing people together, world wide. Her amazing virtuosity, creativity, are obvious, one of the greatest pianists of our time. To me, Yuja Wang personifies everything good, beautiful, exciting, inspirational, in music. I wish her continued success, joy, happiness, both in her music and all facets of her life.

The New York Times Review. Yuja Wang Plays Dazed Chaos, Then 7 Encores By Zachary Woolfe May 18, 2018 The usual praise for a musician who plays a recital in a big hall is that he or she makes that big hall feel small. But on Thursday, the pianist Yuja Wang made Carnegie Hall seem even vaster than normal: big, empty, lonely. Through her concert’s uncompromisingly grim first half and its wary, stunned second, Ms. Wang charted wholly dark, private emotions. She was in no way hostile toward an adoring (if slightly disoriented) audience, but neither did she seem at all interested in seducing it. After the playbills had been printed, Ms. Wang - who will have a Perspectives series at Carnegie next season - revised her program. She subtracted two of the four Rachmaninoff preludes she’d planned to give before intermission and added an extra three of his later, even less scrutable Études-Tableaux. Ms. Wang played none of these pieces in a way that made them seem grounded or orderly; she even seemed to want to run the seven together in an unbroken, heady minor-key span, a choice that most - but not enough - of the audience respected by not clapping in between. Even divided by light applause, these pieces blurred into and stretched toward one another. Doing nothing that felt exaggerated or overwrought, Ms. Wang emphasized unsettled harmonies and de-emphasized melodic integrity. The Étude-Tableau, in E-flat Minor (Op. 33, No. 6) wasn’t the juxtaposition of one hand’s abstraction and the other’s clear etching. No, she was telling two surreal tales at once. The martial opening of the Prelude in G Minor (Op. 23, No. 5) swiftly unraveled into something woozy and bewildering. The washes of sound in the Étude-Tableau in C Minor (Op. 39, No. 1) were set alongside insectlike fingerwork - neurotic, insistent, claustrophobic. ... Her bending of the line in the Étude-Tableau in B Minor (Op. 39, No. 4) felt like the turning of a widening gyre, infusing the evocation of aristocratic nostalgia with anxiety. (Rachmaninoff composed most of the works Ms. Wang played as World War I loomed and unfolded, and the 19th century finally ended.) The stretched-out, washed-out quality of melancholy in her account of the Étude-Tableau in C Minor (Op. 33, No. 3), made that sorrow seem more like resignation: The loneliness she depicted felt familiar to her, even comfortable. The prevailing mood - dreamlike sadness; a feeling of being lost; rushing through darkness - continued in what followed. The relentless trills and tremolos of Scriabin’s Sonata No. 10 - which is sometimes played lusciously but was here diffuse and gauzy - glittered angrily. Three Ligeti etudes from the 1980s and ’90s proved that Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, as she presented them, were presentiments of the modernism of the distant future. There was the sense that more time than just 20 minutes - decades, perhaps - had elapsed during intermission, after which Ms. Wang played Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 8, composed during World War II. Here, playing with guarded poise, Ms. Wang seemed to inhabit a kind of aftermath of the dazed chaos she had depicted in the early-20th-century works on the first half. The contours were sharper now, the colors brighter and bolder. The effect was still unnerving. I considered whether Ms. Wang’s flamboyant clothes - in the first half, a floor-length purple gown with only a slash of sparkle covering her breasts; in the second, a tiny iridescent turquoise dress with vertiginous heels - were the right costume here. They did give the impression that she had arrived alone, a disconcerting combination of powerful and vulnerable, at a not particularly appealing party. In that sense they were a fitting complement to her ominous vision of this music. Likewise, it seemed at first that a few of her seven - yes, seven - encores jarred with the forlorn mood she’d built up. Vladimir Horowitz’s “Carmen” fantasia, an Art Tatum stride version of “Tea for Two,” a demented arrangement of Mozart’s “Rondo alla Turca” - all were blazingly performed but had a touch of cheerful kitsch about them. But perhaps they, too, were of a piece with the intoxication that permeated the recital. ... And by the end, as she followed the “Mélodie” from Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice” with Schubert’s “Gretchen am Spinnrade,” Ms. Wang finally seemed to have found a measure of real, hard-earned peace.
Yuya Vang will land at the end of the day in a psychiatric clinic or in a strip club ??? Sure! The typical way of the "stars" of American show business !!! She later wrote about these personal difficulties in her 2004 memoir Simply Midori, which has been published in German but not English. Ver y oír a Yuja es un deleite. Me gusta mucho que sea provocativa con sus vestidos. Placer visual y auditivo. Muchas gracias por tan magnífica grabación.
I agree von Punkin. She seemed a bit angry. But some of the preludes were angry. In spite of any mood in which she may have been, she gave an absolutely wonderful performance. I keep coming back to this video, for a gripping spine-tingling performance.
How is she received by the critics and the rest of the classical music world? Also I have to admit seeing her image many times on TH-cam but ignored her because what I saw in the images looked to me like an excess of shtick. But then, with nothing better to do, I finally gave her a watch/listen and it was a revelation. The impression her attire makes doesn't prepare you for the artist she is. But then I realized; she's an artist so why shouldn't she be bold and unique in her choice of clothing? I've come to realize that aside from the marketing value this brings, it is also a genuine part of her personality; she dresses provocatively outside the concert hall as well. And when I really thought about it I realized but of course she wears what she does, she brings that same unorthodox energy to her playing.
For years Ms. Wang has had all the chops. I met her 11 years ago when she played here for our recital series. She electrified our audience and is now maturing into one of the all time greats. These Preludes are exceptional. I can't understand people critical of her playing except for total ignorance. I might like the first Prelude in C Major the best. I never want it to end. I've never heard it played quite like that. I just loved it. Same with No. 12 in G# minor. For my taste...the best. I love it when artists step up and show me something unique and special. Ms. Wang does that for me. This provacotive attire thing is much to do about nothing as far as I'm concerned. BTW, I recently listened to the Pletnev Chopin preludes from 2011 I believe posted here on TH-cam. They are like Ms. Wang unique in their own right. Extraordinary artistry!
Chopin Preludes are exceptionally beautiful but the best recording of them is Ivan Moravec and hasn't been surpassed yet. Yuja Wang doesn't reach half of the depth of his interpretation. She is a fantastic pianist for modern and contemporary music but in romantic repertoire she is often totally lost on the musical level (even here the sound becomes harsh when she plays loud and the whole thing sounds quite cold). As musical critics said in "The Guardian" (UK 2022) "Wang's flamboyance and virtuosity doesn't always convey a real sense of what music is about, but in works such as Ligeti's Études she is irrésistible". Totally agree with that statement : in Bartok, Ligeti, Kapustin and contemporary composers she is fantastic and not many pianists can play these so difficult pieces. But for the rest she brings lots of joy to many people who enjoy watching a lively young woman and her sexy dresses contribute to bring them the entertainment they expect. There's nothing wrong about that, that's how marketing works, but being "the most famous pianist" doesn't make her "the best pianist". Let's not forget that the most important artist is the composer...
@@GingerIndiana I couldn't disagree more on your Yuja Wang comments. It's ok. You're entitled to your opinion. I've heard the Moravec Chopin Preludes and they are very good. I like Yuja's better but that's my opinion.
@@nickk8416 Actually the musical critic Dave from "Classics today" (if you know that channel) explained in one of his videos that nowadays some people want to hear something "different". I guess you are part of listeners who appreciate that. Personally I don't understand this because Chopin hasn't changed, he is not different. And the beautiful details of his music will appear even (or maybe even more I would say) if they are part of the general structure, there is no need to put them into our face at a 20 cm distance. But these are 2 different ways of appreciating music...😉. Anyway Mrs Wang said herself in a (written) interview in Paris that she felt bored with Mozart and Chopin music. These are not her favorites at all. I think no pianist can be at his best in all composers and all periods of music so nothing bad about this. (And it doesn't mean part of the audience can't like it anyway. That's something so personal and subjective).
😳 Did you ever listen to other pianists playing these Chopin Preludes then??? Ivan Moravec is known as having made the best recording of them and Yuja Wang's playing doesn't reach half of the depth his interpretation... Try and come back on Earth afterwards 😊. Yuja Wang is fantastic in modern and contemporary repertoire but certainly not in the romantic one. As musical critics in The Guardian (UK 2022) wrote "Wang's flamboyance and virtuosity doesn't always convey a real sense of what music is about, but in works such as Ligeti's Études she is irrésistible". Totally agree with that statement. But Yuja Wang brings joy to many people beacuse she is a lively young woman and her sexy dresses add an extra flavor for many people (men especially). There's nothing bad about this, but it doesn't make her "the best pianist in the World", just "the most famous one". Let's not forget that the real artist is the composer...
I have no problem about how Yuja dress herself, quite the opposite no only my ears enjoy but my eyes too, Dear Yuja, thank you so much for sharing your talent and your beauty, fortunately I have the skill of being able to see and to listen at the same time.
It seems a lot of people in the comments have some trouble understanding why she would choose to wear something that she deemed comfortable for a performance, perhaps...as well as many people not appreciating her performance as her own, and unnecessarily comparing her to other performers. I think she's lovely
Wow - (Playing AND outfit) I've heard the Preludes numerous times by numerous artists - Kissin (too fast), Rubinstein (very good), Ashkenazy (masterful), Trifonov (my favorite besides Wang),etc. I can imagine Chopin hearing this and saying, "Yes, this is how I meant them to sound!" The C major (1st) was slower than the norm but allowed all the Bach-like sonorities. The quiet opening of the F sharp minor (what a gorgeous development!) The G-Sharp Minor is without a doubt the best version out there - fiery yet artistic. The G flat Major was ravishing. I think both she and Trifonov share the aesthetics of the great masters where artistry was just as important as virtuosity.
I just went to Yuja's concert last night at Disney Hall in Los Angeles. She has grown so much and so quickly. In my book, she is a master of Scarlatti, Beethoven, Brahms, and Liszt, and her Chopin, Mozart, and Ravel are near the tops too. She went all out crazy with Scriabin's nos 5 sonata and made me appreciate his works more. She is esoteric at Rachmaninoff and Schumann.
Thanks very much for posting. It is a pity that most of the comments refer contemptuously to Yuja's dress and not to her extraordinary ability as a pianist. They do not see her beauty, gracefulness, joyous and relaxed attitude when she enjoy playing piano with great mastery. How her appearance could influence her interpretive capacity? Otherwise her dresses are beautiful. Probably that people has the same ridiculous opinion regarding Khatia Buniatishvili. There is people who go through life with pedantry, seeing the bad, the negative. They contribute to degrade the human being.
Yuja's dress?! This is about etiquette, the dress is lovely, but that is not the venue to wear such a dress. You are missing the point here, she looks desperate when she wears gowns of this nature, however for those who are desperate like her for attention, i hope she plays naked the next time w/o a towel to sit on, how's that? This industry is full of overpaid whorish freaks anyway!
Georges Cancan what the fuck are you smoking? Have you ever considered that maybe she simply likes to wear stuff like this? It's not for my attention or other people's attention. I'm certain she wears what she believes (rightfully so) looks good. I'm sure it makes her feel good about herself and possibly makes her mood better while wearing such lovely outfits.
You are so right Kougeru! She's a wonderful musician who happens to like fashion! She wears whatever she wants, it's her own business ;) Personally, it's her piano technique I like to look at, hers is like no one else's! Obviously she's not here to decorate 😛

yes I have listened to it, and it is one of her best performances, but still absolutely mediocre. And I am someone who hit Bashkirov back when he slapped me, hugged Martha Argerich for over 5 minutes and heard from Leon Fleisher that I am an absolute Genius and.... from Viktor Merzhanov that I am the reincarnation of Vladimir Sofronitsky. Whatever. YUJA is waste of time.

A towering, monumental, incandescent performance of a towering, monumental, incandescent masterwork. When one sees and hears such a performance as this, one does not note or care what the performer is wearing. Yuja Wang is one of the most beautiful women anywhere on God's green earth. But her beauty is not just skin-deep: her true loveliness comes out in her playing. Live long and prosper, Yuja! We all love you, for your own sake! You go, girl! BTW: would the piano happen to be a Fazioli?
A magnificent performance of the Chopin preludes, one of the best I have heard. The listening experience is enhanced by Yuja's beautiful stage appearance and pretty dress. Why do we need the customary formal outfit which seems so totally outdated and may turn off young audiences?
Why do we need the customary formal outfit which seems so totally outdated and may turn off young audiences?" My answer: I was at this concert with my wife and friends. We don't need a formal outfit, but a serious artist should wear an outfit appropriate to the place and the audience, she should show respect and not her bare thighs. She should show that she doesn't play in a table-dance bar or come from a brothel. Her outfit is ugly and disrespectful. We went in the break. Ms. Wang's performance in April 2017 was also very ridiculous: she could walk in her shoes. We will never again attend a concert by this lady.
@@beckerhanshermann8372 So sad that her outfit turned you off, and you missed the enjoyment of a spectacular performance. I have been a passionate music lover for half a century, and for this work I never heard better. In my humble opinion, Yuja is one of the greatest pianists of our time. I would feel the same if she were dressed in old rugs.
@@tavidemea6363 It makes me sad to see young, talented women think they have to undress to succeed. It is one of the oldest ways to make money with sex and sexiness in the music business. It's not an intelligent method and it's not modern.
Love the hesitation at 4:06 ! Looked like she was too concentrated in the music and forgot for a sec which one is the next of the 24 preludes haha It's so cute and funny. Great performance as always!
Yuja is one of the only pianists I never envy when I watch. Her connection and dedication to the piano and to music, is something you hear in every piece she performs. Listening to her is so motivating and always makes me want to practice more! It’s like when she plays, she’s saying “Don’t you want to feel these things too? You can!”
Ms. Wang's ability to draw out of her one instrument the sound of an entire orchestra mystifies me! It's as if she is being accompanied and yet is playing with an exquisite melancholy her sole piano in such a way that reveals the expansive and yet almost filigree instrumentation of M. Chopin. It is at once startlingly simple and as complex as Poland and her fraught history is. Again, we sit mesmerized by her playing which is carved out delicately from silence.
She is unbelievable; in all her performances she brings this beautiful music again under great attention. Hopefully she will touch some pieces of jazz as well; very versatile Queen of Music!
I firmly believe that Yuja is overall the greatest classical pianist performing today. However, she lacks a feel for jazz. Listen to her performance of Rhapsody in Blue, and you may understand what I am getting at. It is played technically very well, but lacks any kind of jazz vibe (which the best performances do exhibit).
While not in agreement with that other guy: Her rendition of Rhapsody in Blue. Really, I don't want to hear her trying her hand in jazz. Too many jazz pianist criticize classical pianist for not knowing what they are doing. However. If she does ( did ). I would prefer a performance of Gershwin's concerto in F. So much more expansive. Rugged writing in which she shines. The F Major would tell whether or not she has a feel for the genre. Plus, there's that great recording by Earl Wild for her to study with prior to performing the piece. Also, the ( especially) " I've got rhythm" by him. And Oscar Levant's old recording. Then, maybe a year or two. She could go all out. Studying all those modes, jazz scales. Blues and Latin styles. Then, hopefully. She wouldn't fall in love with the stuff. And leave off of the classical world forever. Right now?? I want to hear her playing J.S. Bach. Or, Max Reger's ' Variations on a Theme by Bach ' . Ending with that massive fugue.
No performance of these are the same. Every performer gives me different ideas for when the time comes to learn any of these. I never tire of this set of preludes. And this performance was great! So engaging.

Hehe! "Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll" generation ??? Well this is red light district piano playing for sure, i hope they keep wet wipes handy for the players that must use that stool after these escorts. Play on gals, make that money!!! :-) She is Amsterdam red light district , mediocre classical pianist, she and Khatia Buniatishvili, i think they try to compensate for their lack of talent, i think they are both overrated and need a book on etiquette badly. I am not a prude but these chicks look like they carry a supply of penicillin with them, they can't be taken seriously, neither is pretty, so i assume the dressing is used to distract the people from their looks, and Khatia with all the phony hair flipping which is so unauthentic. I am not being mean just real, we all like pretty things and they could be sexy without looking classically hookerish, someone should tell them, but i think they have been told and don't care, they look like rough broads. :-) !!!
It's disgusting. I think she has a heck of a lot of talent, she can certainly play piano better than I can, and she chooses to objectify herself. We don't live in the days when women were told and expected by shifty managers to take it all off or else, and she's setting things back with this kind of dress. I really dislike that word "prude" since there's no way I'd dress like that or even close, but that would earn me the label from some people. I don't care for formal dress either since that generally isn't the most comfortable, particularly when having to put on a performance. I'd rather dress in my usual clothes. Because I'd be there to put on music, not a fashion show, and I always make sure whatever I wear is suitable for being out in the general public. Having said all that, here is an interesting article, debunking feminist claims of gender bias when it comes to classicall music performance. Feminists and mgtow would actually be the biggest supporters of Yuja 'wang's choice of dress, for two different reasons. blog.twedt.com/archives/1365 Annoyingly, on another video where Maria Yudina was performing, her interpretation of the music didn't go over that well with some listeners, and then this jerk came along and whinged about how people just didn't like her because she was a woman.
Well when you practice it 1000 times, you cannot not memorize.
rubbish; you don't know what she is seeing. Without practice, it's just romantic words. SHe worked hard for it and was committed. You have no right to not recognize the tremendous work it takes.

Yeah Dat shit dope bruh
Valentina Igoshina is recognized as an artist, whereas Wang is known as a performer and entertainer.

Joe Gallaher: "For health reasons, she has recently been forced to reduce her performance workload." Dear Joe, Yuya Wang is moving along the path of the violinist Midori Goto??? "In September 1994, Midori suddenly cancelled her concerts and withdrew from public view. She was hospitalised and given an official diagnosis of anorexia for the first time.[5] In her twenties, Midori struggled with anorexia and depression, resulting in a number of hospital stays. She later wrote about these personal difficulties in her 2004 memoir Simply Midori, which has been published in German but not English. (It was updated and reissued in German-speaking countries in 2011.)[8][19] After recovering, she continued to perform and also studied psychology and gender studies at New York University. SLIPPED DISC Sicklist: Yuja Wang is told to slow down

Message from the LA Phil:
Pianist Yuja Wang‘s originally scheduled May 8, 2018 recital at Walt Disney Concert Hall, which was postponed because of illness, will not be rescheduled. Due to the artist’s busy schedule, a replacement date could not be identified. Regarding the cancellation, Wang has stated:
I have been working hard to find a date in the next few months to play my postponed recitals in Vancouver, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, but I’m sorry to tell my fans that it is simply impossible. I have been given strict instructions by my doctors that I’m trying very hard to follow to ensure that I remain healthy. I thank you all for your support and kindness and I look forward to performing for you again as soon as I am able. < Dear Joe Gallagher, Yuya Wang is moving along the path of the violinist Midori Goto???
"Show your beauty and show your talent"? No: Show your talent. Let the beauty of the MUSIC shine without cheapening it by wearing scant clothing. Music is pure. Don't compromise it by combining it with the banality of exposed flesh. There are other venues one can visit to view such things, and they certainly don't include concert halls. I don't see male concert pianists(violinists) performing shirtless and in tight pants! Yuja Wang - "McDonald´s"culture! The money& "sex sells" culture!!!
Just feel really sorry for anyone who does not experience the joy she spreads amongst the 99% of us touched by her magic. (apart from the automatic "AI" surely? Trolls...I just wonder why)
An absolutely God given talent, look and Passion!!
A beautiful and lyrical interpretation.
One of the greatest pianists of our generation.

Yuja Wang brilliantly completed her first cycle of the three Bartók piano concertos - the Second on Thursday and Friday; the Third on Saturday and Sunday - the latest step for the 30-year-old virtuoso on the path to possibly becoming one of the world’s most important pianists. Gustavo Dudamel surrounded the concertos with alluringly eerie accounts of Stravinsky’s “Symphonies of Wind Instruments” and spectacular ones of Janácek’s brassy Sinfonietta." Oh poor , mentally ill sexist Mario/Georges! ;-)

Ver y oír a Yuja es un deleite. Me gusta mucho que sea provocativa con sus vestidos. Placer visual y auditivo. Muchas gracias por tan magnífica grabación.
--- She wasn't her usual happy self while taking her bows after an amazonian performance --- Yuja, you're still my Piano Goddess!
I agree von Punkin. She seemed a bit angry. But some of the preludes were angry. In spite of any mood in which she may have been, she gave an absolutely wonderful performance. I keep coming back to this video, for a gripping spine-tingling performance.
What a gift! A fresh and delicate rendition of this much-loved repertoire. Don't recall anything better. A great artist.
You are to be admired for such an intelligent post, and marvelously appropriate assessment.
Ademas tiene un lindo cuerpo es muy linda chica y muy profesional en su piano.me encanto' muy fuera de lo comun'.
Merci pour le bonheur que vous nous donnez YUJA WANG. Mille fois merci. ❤️❤️💐💐🌹🌹🤗🤗👋👋🎶🎶🎼🎼👁️👁️👁️👁️
No one can play Chopin's preludes as nicely and delicately as Yuja Wang. I can listen to them every day and still experience them as very enjoyable!

She really gives a great example of the "singing tone" that Arthur Rubinstein espoused in #21. Brava Yuja!!! Mes felicitations!!

Plot twist: The police will be extra kind and not count this as vandalism.
Impossible not to love this Lady.
It seems a lot of people in the comments have some trouble understanding why she would choose to wear something that she deemed comfortable for a performance, perhaps...as well as many people not appreciating her performance as her own, and unnecessarily comparing her to other performers. I think she's lovely
A gift for us all...an extraordinary pianist and human x
That prelude 24 was amazing! I've never heard such dynamics on that piece before. Absolutely amazing
The balance between hands was not good, the left hand was overpowering the melody in much of the piece.
@@thesteve7397i disagree. Melody is very clear
Wow - (Playing AND outfit) I've heard the Preludes numerous times by numerous artists - Kissin (too fast), Rubinstein (very good), Ashkenazy (masterful), Trifonov (my favorite besides Wang),etc. I can imagine Chopin hearing this and saying, "Yes, this is how I meant them to sound!"
The C major (1st) was slower than the norm but allowed all the Bach-like sonorities.
She is esoteric at Rachmaninoff and Schumann.
as long as you play, you become within the spirit of Frederic Chopin. Bravo !
This is about etiquette, the dress is lovely, but that is not the
venue to wear such a dress. You are missing the point here, she looks
desperate when she wears gowns of this nature, however for those who are
desperate like her for attention, i hope she plays naked the next time
w/o a towel to sit on, how's that? This industry is full of overpaid
whorish freaks anyway!

Можно не сомневаться что Ванг одна из лучших пианисток современности . Достичь такого уровня может только человек не просто

Yeah dis shit dope bruh
You don't note what the performer is wearing, but the algorithm does. And Yuja knows this.
You can!”
I admire the virtuosity and strengh with wichYuja plays! It’s wonderful! But I also love hers youthful ways of dressing! Bravo, Yuja Wang!
Again, we sit mesmerized by her playing which is carved out delicately from silence.
as a Pole thank You Erik
Such a joy to watch and listen to!
She’s the greatest !!!
Now I have realized that it's best to listen to these 24 preludes consecutively.
@@timothybolshaw Haven't seen any of your performances on TH-cam or elsewhere.
@@jameskleinberg5948 Very true, and you will not. I have some talented friends, but recognise my own limitations!
So engaging.

think they are both overrated and need a book on etiquette badly. I am
not a prude but these chicks look like they carry a supply of penicillin
with them, they can't be taken seriously, neither is pretty, so i
assume the dressing is used to distract the people from their looks, and
Khatia with all the phony hair flipping which is so unauthentic. I am
not being mean just real, we all like pretty things and they could be
sexy without looking classically hookerish, someone should tell them,
but i think they have been told and don't care, they look like rough
broads.
