Exactly the same experience from me. I firstly noticed her playing Chopin's Ballade 1 on graduation recital on TH-cam. Out of curiosity, I watched the evolution of Yuja Wang from 9 to 33 later, which completely changed my mind about her. The more I listen to her playing, the more confident I am that she is not just another Chinese prodigy, she is the legend.
I have to agree that she's very good, indeed, but for my tastes, Alexander Malofeev surpasses her. In fact, he's extraordinary. Can't believe the extent of his classical repertoire and his ability to transport the listener to absolute bliss. Have watched all his videos showing the progress he has made from the age of eight to 18. Even at 8 this then kid took my breath away. Even though watching/Listening on TH-cam, I had to stand and applaud too. Clearly she was enjoying a night of playing for an audience. Her musical translation attracts the audience, probably because she finds euphoric pleasure in her own music. That's because it is honest and has a very musical and genius talent.

Before the five encores here she played Brahms Ballades 1 & 2, Schumann Kreisleriana and Beethoven's Hammerklavier. An absolutely gargantuan concert.

Although it sounds as improvisation it is not so. The Turkish March arrangement is fully written and occasionally played by Yuja and Volodos.
