One of the things that really bugs me about all of these newer radios with the fancy screens is that they can make the VFO mode numbers nice and huge, but when you switch to channel mode they have these tiny little letters that are almost impossible to read. Why can’t they just make them big like the other ones???
Big difference in this radio and the BTech GMRS PRO, this one transmits on all VHF and UHF frequencies. The BTech is a GMRS only radio. Can’t any of these Chinese companies produce a radio with the map screen right on the radio like the Garmin Rino ? Can’t wait till they accomplish this feat. Thanks for posting, you are the only one that wasn’t afraid to show your location on the map.

Is this the same radio as the VGC and Btech? All the same features? Guessing the original is made by VGC, but when Btech gets it they make their own firmware and minor spec changes.
Does it appear to find a GPS location without the app connected, and if so does it take a long time to find its position? Hayden VK7HH said in his overview of the radio that the GPS position didnt fix until after his phone was connected, but that he couldnt tell if that was just the radio taking a long time to obtain a satellite lock.
Dang this looks cool! I've been looking for a cheap HT that does APRS beacon and messaging, I might pick one up but my only concern is that the app is the ONLY way to program it (besides the keypad). Because when you've been chatting with 5 or 6 other hams on the local repeater and then realize that nobody has identified for the last half hour, giving your callsign and adding "for ID" makes everyone else realize the same thing and give their callsign, causing everybody to be within a factor of 3ish of following the law.
