Democracy in the EU: Where are we heading? Which Europe do we want? How do we get there?
Investment crisis, financialization, austerity; Brexit, massive migration and right wing populism; youth unemployment, social inequality and industry 4.0. Our current Europe faces multiple historical crises and it seems to be unable to cope with them. All the more fundamental questions arise: Where are we heading right now? Which Europe do we actually want? What will it take to get there?
We want to discuss these questions with Yanis Varoufakis, Martin Sauber (Economist), Lisa Knoll (Sociologist) and Philip Liste (Politologist). The event will start with Yanis’ speech dealing with current Euro-policies as well as the necessity to radically democratise Europe. Following this we will have the podium discussion focusing on the agenda of DiEM25 and its realisation. Siri Keil will be the moderator.

Investitionskrise, Finanzialisierung und Austerität; Brexit, Migrationskrise und Rechtspopulismus; Jugendarbeitslosigkeit, soziale Ungleichheit und Arbeit 4.0. Das gegenwärtige Europa ist von einer historischen Krisenhaftigkeit durchdrungen, der es nicht gewachsen zu sein scheint. Umso mehr drängen sich grundsätzliche Fragen auf: Wo stehen wir? Welches Europa wollen Wir? Wie kommen wir dahin? Diese Fragen möchten wir von DiEM25 in Hamburg diskutieren mit Yanis Varoufakis, Ute Tellmann (Soziologin), Martin Sauber (Ökonom), Lisa Knoll (Soziologin) und Philip Liste (Politologe).
Der Abend wird mit einer Rede von Yanis Varoufakis beginnen. Er wird über die gegenwärtige Euro-Politik und die Notwendigkeit der Demokratisierung der EU sprechen. Anschließend erfolgt die Podiumsdiskussion, in der wir über DiEM25's Vorhaben und dessen Umsetzung diskutieren möchten. Moderiert wird der Abend von Siri Keil.
Veranstaltungssprache ist Englisch.

DSCs (DiEM25 Spontaneous Collectives) are groups of volunteers who organise local DiEM25 events and actions. Anyone can start a DSC and start to promote DiEM25 locally, with only few, common-sense rules on how to use the DiEM25 name.
