I had the same year, but mine was the DX trim. It had an automatic transmission, power windows and locks, and an aftermarket Pioneer CD player. I loved that car, I'd probably still be driving it today if I had more hours at work 10 years ago.
You keep it real man, pretty much everything you said I would say about my 2003 manual corolla I just bought. Got 2100 dollars back for my 4runner after the block heater fell out and I ended up with a misfire, just needed to 'zero out' my car expenses for a bit. I use it for a bit of pizza delivery too, been nice to go for 16 mpg to more like 35. More money in the pocket
Pretty much agree with everything you said. I have a 1990 Corolla with 408k miles on it and it's the most reliable car I've ever owned. I paid $2,800 for it in 1999, 22 years ago. It is still running great with the original engine and transaxle, neither have ever been rebuilt. I did put a head gasket in it 3 years ago, but it didn't even need a valve job after all those miles. It's like yours - pretty much everything is manual, not automatic. Door locks, windows, seats, etc., - all manually operated. It does have power assist brakes, but no power steering. It has a/c and that still works well, although I did have to replace the compressor about 15 years ago. It gets 36 mpg, and still has plenty of power. Five speed manual, of course. I had it repainted in 2013 and it still looks great. Just an awesome car.
Yes I did watch the video of yours on the corolla that clocked in at 400k miles. That was really awesome and congrats to you on having such a reliable car. Wish to get one like that too.
Mine have a clock and cassette player which still works. No airbags though but I can adjust the side mirrors from the inside. It's amazing how Toyota can remove and put options making lots of variants. Starts each and everytime even not cranking the engine for a whole month! Keeping mine forever.
500 bucks i got mine in 2018, with 216k miles, one set of spark plugs, a water pump and radiator, ignition coil and wires, many many gallons of oil its now at 334k miles and its still the daily driver, burns about a quart every 2k miles but that keeps it lubricated

Mine has the electric windows, electric locks, electric mirrors, tachometer, clock, cassette player, cruise control, intermittent wipers, and even a sunroof. But the best part of it is being a 5 speed. I have 257k miles, and it runs like a champ. One of the most reliable vehicle's I've owned. Put 70k miles on it. Only needed passenger inner tie rod, fuel filler neck, battery, and brakes.

Before the mid 90s cars were built with mindset of "built to last". That's why they last so long, but after 2000 cars quality just 👎 because corporations just want more money from you rather than making good cars. I had a 93 corolla, and if it's not because of an accident racked it, I would still be driving it. The 2000 corolla that I got to replace it has oil leak, and few other problems. It just doesn't feel as good quality as my 93 Corolla.

Mine has 247,000 miles, I had to replace, battery, alternator, distributor, radiator, rear struts. Mine also has manual door locks and windows which I prefer bc less to break. The one con I have is these cars aren’t fast at all .

@@VehicleHunter I'm in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I had a 1.6 sedan 96 Corolla that I bought used in 99. I drove it for 17 years. The bottom was all rusted out when I sold it to a guy in need for$200.
Airbags work with an explosive charge, but after 25 years, that charge is not good anymore 9/10 times. Plus who knows if the sensors work properly anymore even if you replaced the airbags, in many cases not.... so you shouldn't really count on the airbags in such a vehicle.
