My dad had a 93 corolla sedan of the same color with the 5 speed manual, I remember that car being a part of my childhood and my first experience with a manual car as a kid. I would sit in the backseat and watch him shift it in awe because back then I had no idea what he was doing just that it was super cool because it was the only car like that in our family. Fast forward years later I now drive a 2022 corolla hatchback with a manual. Time is crazy will definitely always have a soft spot for this corolla.

Dash cubby was for tapes. I had one of these. (Sedan) They fit perfectly into that spot. I still have a 2000 Camry that my daughter drives now. Toyotas are SUCH good cars. They also make really good sewing machines! This paint colour reminds me of the blueberry Jelly Belly. LOL

These are SUPER RARE, at least in Germany. They were once common, but nearly all of these wagons have been exported (all the other bodystyles are still common). Sometimes there’s isn’t even a single one available online, whereas you can find pretty much any other car in Germany from that era.

There is one in the same colour (or possibly in the bright green) in my little town in Finland, many of the early 90s Corollas are still driving around here but that seems to be the only wagon one.
It looks to be in good condition, even the paint looks good. The badge says 1.6 Si, I don´t know if that´s the base model in europe.
Almost every japanese car here has been a manual, auto was a very rare sight, mostly on cars imported from the USA

I am an American that lives in Barvaria. I owned 1997 Geo Prizim (Corolla with a geo brand GM Toyota partnership) and 2003 American made Corolla. In the US Toyota had the “scion” brand that I dont think ever been in Germany. The Pontiac Vibe was another GM Corolla/ Matrix. Here in Germany I seen corollas that are completely different like Toyota Hilux, Aygo and other Toyota’s I never seen. I also see VW and Mercedes pick ups that would sell very well in USA. I imported my 2001 Honda prelude to Barvaria, never seen another one so far.

I wish they would bring back the wagon to America. Currently, they sell a nice wagon in Europe but not the United States. Your only option for a decent reliable middle-class wagon is a Subaru Outback. There's literally only one brand that offers a wagon in that category. I bought my 96 wagon 10 yrs ago with 88k. Took me months to find one. Was hoping for a manual, but the automatic trans shifts flawlessly. It has been my daily driver since. Has been on many road trips across America. Will cruise at 80+mph and get 28 mpg. It now has 245k. All original engine, I change the oil and have replaced the timing belt. That's it. Doesn't burn or leak oil. Original drive axels lasted 200k. Everything works. I will never get rid of this car.

I have a 94 Camry myself, picked it up last year and i'm the 3rd owner at 73K miles now. She's going to be around a LONG time. It's in really damn good shape, but yeah the clear coat is just boiling off, it's really too bad, I don't think they did a very good job painting these at the factory because my 88' Supra's paint is still doing very well (except for the bumpers.)
As for cargo, I've never had a sedan with more space than this does. You could pretty much move anything you want to. Even my Supra has a bunch of room which is unheard of for a sports car these days.

An car. It'll keep working day in and day out carrying whatever you need with no drama. It just works. This has to be rarer than the ultimate 90s Toyota wagon, the dual-wiper Camry. I don't think I've ever seen a Corolla wagon. I like it.
I don't understand the appeal of leather seats besides being easier to clean. Give me nice soft cloth every day. Breathable, not burning hot in the summer, not freezing cold in the winter, no squeaks. Toyota has the right idea selling the Century with wool upholstery.

    • @rushnerd
      @rushnerd ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, always been a cloth guy. Leather is just impossible in the summer or always cold. My 94 Camry seats are absolutely PERFECT. God they are so comfortable and feel so nice. I've been in a lot of newer cars that are a joke in comparison. To that end the cloth seats in my 88' Supra are the best I've ever used. I don't think any new car could hold a candle to them. mid 80's-90's Toyota is really seriously business with engineering and quality.

Here's how reliable and long-lived those cars are: The E101 Corolla is practically the national car of Afghanistan. I was there in 2010 and I there were Corolla and Hilux clogging all the city streets. The 1990s E101 chassis seemed to outnumber the older *and* newer Corollas. So, a lot of those cars were pushing 15 or 20 years of age, driving on bad roads, with bad gas (and owners who couldn't necessarily read their names, much less the owners manual) and they were still running.
There were so many Corollas, I read that some mechanics didn't bother to learn how to repair any other car.

Compact wagons look so weird, at least to Americans. You never see compact wagons driving around.

Imo the 2007 Corolla was the last good Corolla with the alteeza style tail lights these 90s Toyota Corolla and candy wagons are just sick!!

I'm currently lusting over getting the sedan as the first car I buy with my own money, however with the 4AGE 20V Blacktop engine and if I'm lucky a 6MT with the LSD.
It would be amazing to have the wagon body but they're unfortunately too rare and command a decent premium over the sedan

Plus the TOYOTA CAROLLA is a wagon and the TOYOTA CAROLLA wagon is in the year 1995 but the only way that you can get it as a TOYOTA CAROLLA WAGON is if you get it with a manual transmission if you bought it in 1995. For me it's 😭.

When I was in Afghanistan in 2010, I saw E92 and E101 Corollas everywhere. Mechanics there can't necessarily write their names or read a manual, but they could keep 20-year-old Corollas running. It seemed like pretty good evidence that they were not only tough but idiot-proof.

For the last year I’ve been looking for 93-97 Corolla wagon 5 speed or 03-08 Vibe or Matrix 5 speed I could buy needing work, fix it myself and use for pizza delivery. I missed buying a 5 speed Vibe needing a clutch last spring for $750. It sold fast. Looks like the Vibe sits higher and it’s probably a little bit safer in a crash. I’m 5’11” slender and my knees bother me if the driver seat sits low.
Is that car in the video for sale?

I picked up a 94' Camry in great shape last year with only 71K miles for $3,700. I don't feel like I'll ever sell it because at that mileage, I'll probably have it my whole life and MAN is that a value.
