Cool compilation. Took me back - as I worked on almost all of these. There's a couple missing that I can think of. 1) The Alternate Raptor one - the "Drunk Apogee theme song" 2) Stargunner - that was the final Apogee game back in the old days, and had a unique title. 3) The new one for Rise of the Triad 2012. I realize it's not "old school", but it's mostly the same, I thought it would be good to include it. Also, the video for Boppin here is mute.
That's awesome! I am immediately transported back to my childhood when I hear any of the versions. Thanks for letting me know about the alternative intros, I will have to find and include them. For some reason, the Dosbox video recording feature just wouldn't pick up the audio for Boppin', regardless of the sound card settings I used. And to reply to your other comment, yeah - I went through pretty much every game and omitted the duplicates. (PS: thank you for making awesome games)
Bonnie Linge The "Drunk Apogee" theme is on the 3dr site here: 3drealms daht cahm /sounds/rapgoof.wav - Other than that sound, the visuals are the same as every other Apogee game at that time.
I remember growing up in the 90's, we didn't have a lot of money, but I had an IBM compatible computer and a dialup ISP, so I downloaded tons of shareware including Apogee games and played the heck out of them. Those games never get old.
I like the monster bash apogee intro the most, because of the witch on a broom :) It's embedded in my memory because i really liked that part as a kid when i played these games.
@conchudo69 Fool me once, I'm mad... Fool me twice, how could you?... Fool me three times, you're officially that guy, okay? You know the one. You go into a bar and he's like "This suit is officially a Giorgio Armani, ech, my dad knows 'em." *FACK U!* I AAAAAAAAAAIN'T HAVIN' THAT SHET!!!
You can't get better than 256 colors!!!! They look so real!!! I remember going from a Tandy 1000 to a 486DX2/66MHz with 8MB of ram back in 1993 as a child and was totally blown off my feet from Wolf3d
pmnelson81 I did the same dude. He always had to do one level for me in Bio Menace, I could never pass it on my own. Great memories! Sorry that yours passed away.
pmnelson81 Blake Stone was the first first person shooter I played ever! Then Doom was the second. I'll always love this game the most for that reason. I hope someone makes a remake of Blake Stone with modern graphics like they did ROTT and Wolfenstein and even a High res pack as well!
Only Blake Stone has the normal, classic Apogee theme? At least that's the one I'm most used to. And Bio Menace gave me an unbelievably distant flashback!! I haven't seen that since I was 5, and I'm 26 now!!
I grew up with Apogee/3D Realms games. Commander Keen, Math Rescue, Duke Nukem 3D, and my all-time favourite Rise of the Triad. Been even trying out the other titles I missed out like Bio Menace and Major Stryker, and boy are they fun and enjoyable. Apogee is the King of PC Gaming! :D
I always laughed at the one from Bio Menace, the dude jumped down despite he's in the middle of space with lots of asteroids floating, and thus, no gravity haahaha
In Blake Stone: Planet Strike (October 1994) the music is the same as in Aliens of Gold. However, in AoG (at least in version that I have), the bottom text says "The height of gaming excitement".
Also, I'm guessing you only changed the game if something changed (a visual or the music)? I know there were more games than this that used the theme song.
Not sure why it's fast :( I only included all of the "regular" intros with the classic Apogee logo to show the evolution of it, which is why Cosmo isn't in there (it's one of my favourites!)

Bonnie Linge Here. Go look at this: /watch?v=eNscRLNimSg
Joe Siegler it's gone now :(
NightShadow What's gone? The original link and the one I posted is still there.

Man, now I know I played a lot of Apogee's games back there. Thanks, those games made my childhood.
I think I played all of these. The Duke Nukem II Apogee intro is effectively the anthem of my youth.
I like the monster bash apogee intro the most, because of the witch on a broom :) It's embedded in my memory because i really liked that part as a kid when i played these games.
Actually the crowbar snaps in two.

I AAAAAAAAAAIN'T HAVIN' THAT SHET!!!
i LOVE apogee games. my entire childhood in a nutshell
Duke Nukem 2 and Raptor are the best ones!
You can't get better than 256 colors!!!! They look so real!!!

pmnelson81 The best thing we have to date of Blake Stone is this: bibendovsky.github.io/bstone/. Hopefully in the future there will be better.
I played more than half of these, here goes my childhood

*staticy DOS voice*
“I know what sex is
*insert smug Duke Nukem here*
but I won’t tell you.”
The sound clip used for the Witch from Monster Bash was used for the skeleton on MediEvil's title screen.
OH MAN THE NOSTALGIA!!
This is so awesome!!!
The nostalgia is SO strong

I played so much Monster Bash when I was a kid that I cannot unhear the Apogee fanfare without the witch laugh...
Oh yeah, I remember all these intros from way back, especially on those shareware compilations that I had growing up.
Oh man this brings me back.
I always laughed at the one from Bio Menace, the dude jumped down despite he's in the middle of space with lots of asteroids floating, and thus, no gravity haahaha
Bio Menace is really underrated.
Loved loading up Major Stryker just for the music back in the day :P
The Math Rescue and Word Rescue intro was different here than the one I know.....
True!
@ LY203 Productions Only Math Rescue have this intro, and only the first version of Math Rescue (wich I think are v1.0) have that fanfare.
In Blake Stone: Planet Strike (October 1994) the music is the same as in Aliens of Gold. However, in AoG (at least in version that I have), the bottom text says "The height of gaming excitement".
Duke Nukem II epic
Since Halloween Harry, VGA begins

DON'T THINK LIKE A *ROUNDY.*
blake stone aliens of gold had the most memorable apogee intro
Slow it down ;)
Actually, the crowbar snaps in two.
Did Cosmo have an apogee splash?
Nice compilation, but you're missing Raptor's birthday mode.
Nostalgic mode on :_)
wacky wheels :D
My childhood D:
Also, I'm guessing you only changed the game if something changed (a visual or the music)? I know there were more games than this that used the theme song.
What about Commander Keen?
this brings me back. althought you did miss cosmo's cosmic adventure. and why is it so fast?
Not sure why it's fast :( I only included all of the "regular" intros with the classic Apogee logo to show the evolution of it, which is why Cosmo isn't in there (it's one of my favourites!)
1:42 YO!
☺👍
It sounds like that CD of MIDI Christmas carols your mom has
1993 = begin of thr Sound Blaster era?
FUCK! i've played ALL those games! I specially loved blake stone, Bio Menace, and Raptor. Well, all apogee games were awesome...!
Duke Nukem 2 is the best.
WHAT ABOUT THE NEW ONE?>!?>!>!
The new one doesn't conform to my idea of childhood nostalgia!!!!!!!!!!>!>!>!>!>
Hello fellow nerds from the 90s.
Great grate
"She's a lady...Oh whoa whoa
She's a lady...Oh whoa whoa
She's a lady...OH WHOA WHOA"
Fancy
For me it's between Duke Nukem 2 and Alien Carnage.
ROTT!
Noboby remember rise of the triad?
Snake Logan....
Boppin is the best one
It's reminiscent of MS-DOS era.
What about the 2013 one, lmao
I prefer the Hocus Pocus one.
