I love how clean this tundra is! Great video.
Great job,being so clear,very helpful 🙂
I had a 2012 Tundra. I had a buddy of mine cut a 6" hole in the skid plate directly underneath the oil filter housing. I got so tired of removing that skid plate. That hole alleviated a lot of extra work. I have a 2019 TRD Pro. It has the access panel on the skid plate. Makes the job so much easier.
I have a 2020 tundra pro, and the first part of your comment hit me right in the heart. Thankfully I have the pro, that comes with the access panel already. I couldn't imagine letting anyone cut into my truck, let alone "a friend" lol.
Yeah, my 2012 wasn’t a PRO. My buddy is a mechanic, and the skid plate is thin metal. Really easy cut with a torch. Thank God for my 2019 TRD PRO. It’s got the access panel
About to do my first oil change on my Sequoia and I'm totally going to cut a hole in that skid plate. Definitely don't want to remove it every time
At my age, the dealer does such a good job. I don't have to worry about the mess or disposal of the old oil. Dealer charge, $95 for oil and filter change and I get a free truck wash. By the way, I have a. 2018 pristine Platinum.
That’s fine too. Glad you at least see how it’s done
Aways loved cartridge filters when I had my BMW 3 series. Did not realize Toyota moved to them too.
good looking truck! just did an oil change on my 08' Hemi
Great video!!...Thank you!!👊
Thank you sir to confirm where I have to put small ring. Thank you. God bless you
Very expensive.
Amazon wants 29 dollars for a replacement filter without the oil pan crush washer.
The oil filter housing drain adapter costs 55 dollars and funnel 😮
My local Toyota dealership charges 7.50 for the Oil filter and they throw in the crush washer.
I had some flex plastic tubes laying around. I made my own oil release tube by placing the plastic tube over the snap-in drain plug. It worked great. No mess. All went into the pan. 😊
You never left links to the special tools you used, or at least I don't see them? Thanks for the video
Thank you for letting me know. I don’t know why it was blank. I updated it.

Thank you so much 🙏
Fantastic vid
what is the point of this configuration. it seems more and more like bs if you ask me.
On the new tundra they went back to the normal filters
The chore of Toyota engines is how the oil filter is made... VW and some MB engines have it way easier.
The reason these filters are so tight is because of the torque spec advised by toyota
Over all ......good video. After going through all those steps on such a newer and expensive engine... why would you use OLD OIL to lube the NEW O-RINGS for oil filter???? NEW ENGINE OIL...SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED on such an important piece of the oil change! Dirty oil with fine debris and metal is NEVER good to lubricate anything.
I know exactly what you are going through. I have a 2020 Toyota Tundra 5.7L. Good Luck.
There will be a lot of old oil in the engine that won’t be removed. You’ll never get it all out for oil changes. Lubricating the seal with old oil will never be enough to effect the engine. If you feel better about it, you can use new oil just the same.
Really wanna lose your shit? A few times, I've reused the o-rings!

I have a 2016 Tundra
46 km per liter of oil
It seems they call for different oil levels over the years, so verify your operators manual
My tundra 2008 5.7 same engine i guess as you why it takes 7.4 quarts 7 liters only why !!!
Yeah, I helped my friend and his was a 2015 and the manual said 7.9 quarts but looks like the same engine
5.7L V8
Without oil filter 7.4 quarts
With oil filter 7.9 quarts
With Tow Package 8.5 quarts (added engine oil cooler) - not every owners manual had this part included.
I can't believe they didn't simply use a can filter. My 1986 Suzuki used this shifty cartridge style.
and you dont need to use 20wt, common synthetic 5w30 will be fine as well
I would love to run 5w30.
Glad to see a Toyota engineer views the channel. Pfft
SO YOUR TRUCK DOESN'T HAVE ENGINE PLATE PROTECTION?! OR YOU SKIP TO SHOW?
I remove the skid plate at 44 seconds into the video if that’s what you’re referring to
