Best video I've found on changing the Tundras oil with these specific parts. Makes a world of difference. Good shit.
Added tip. If you decide to use the plastic drain piece that come with your oil filter. Put a clear hose on it. Cut it to length so it can drain into your oil catch pan. I’ve changed our 2017 sequoia oil since new, it is at 28,xxx now, using that plastic oil filter drain valve. First time it was messy but after that. No more mess. Hook a hose on that plastic drain valve, drain directly into your container. All you have to do is push it straight up til it “click”. That’s it. No mess.

That is a cool video and tool, I saw that oil drain plug about 5yrs ago when I had my charger and always wanted to get it now I had my 2019 Tundra for 3 years and to see someone has it for the same truck I have. Now I'm more eager to get ot now. Thanks for the vid and info again.

I had to change oil on my son’s ‘14 Tundra (what a damn mess!), but just wanted to mention that your video was the only one I watched that suggested viewers wipe old oil from inside the “block side” of the filter housing. Excellent info here. I’m sure I’d make these mods you demonstrated if it were my truck I was working on. Again, great job with this.

I thought the Fumoto valve company says to not tighten with a socket on the top part of the hex on the valve? Says to use a wrench on the side. Its not built to have all that force put on the brass hex head
Great drtail video and these new features to add. So you don't worry about the small O-ring falling off, just screw the silver cap on at that time. No need to wait for filter install. I do it all the time.

Just a heads up, if you order the Updated Futomo valve it does NOT have the nippled end on it to connect a drain hose to. The oil drains directly from the valve into your container. Not a big deal at all just letting you guys know so you don’t waste money ordering the “pan to container” hose/fittings.

I purchased the Fumoto valve and the MotivX kit for my old Tacoma and I loved how easy and clean it made my oil changes. Now I've sold my Taco and purchased a new 2021 Tundra and I will definitely purchase another Fumoto valve for the new truck. The MotivX kit works for the Tundra as well. Every DIY Toyota owner needs these 2 tools! I will probably swap out the plastic filter can eventually.

Great video! Was very helpful. I bought the items you recommended. Though I thought I'd save ten bucks and bought a Chine$e aluminum alloy knock-off housing removal tool instead of the MotivX Tool version. Aaaaand it broke the first time I cranked on it. This after I'd drained all the oil. Went down to the local auto parts store who replaced it with a steel one. That worked, but busted the plastic OEM housing. So, back to the store to buy a metal replacement for that. Not sure why Toyota even put a plastic one in to begin with. But it explains why you were replacing yours. Anyway, happy to be done with it, and it should go much easier in the future. Also, using a jack to hold the skid plate in place while bolting it back in place, helps immensely. Not nearly enough room under there, though it looks like there is.

Just take the whole canister off and change the filter and large o ring. No need to drain it and take the plug out.

That's pretty cool, but I think 🤔 that it would be easier to put the larger 'O' ring on before putting the filter cartridge in the cap. Then for the smaller one you can place that and hold it in place by putting the smaller cap on finger tight. Then tight everything once it's installed.

I put a Baxter adapter on my 2017 4Runner. I use a conventional metal spin on filter now. No more plastic filter housing mess. Put a Fumoto valve on also.
Waiting to see what’s involved with the new Tundra.
Definitely nice upgrades for sure!… I can’t wait to get my hands on the next GEN, I’m holding out for a hybrid but as soon as I have it in my possession I’ll be tearing it apart and making a ton of videos on it!
I purchased a Baxter adapter for my 2007 Lexus GS350, it works great. Toyota should stick with the spin on filters.

I looked on the Fomoto website for info and a phone number to see if they made a Fomoto valve with high flow and a short nipple. The part number is F133S. I ordered that part from Amazon. I continued to look on Fomoto’s site and found a few more gems. MH-10 is a brass nipple that clips onto the short nipple on the F133s valve with an internal split ring that looks pretty substantial. They also offer a newly designed dust cap for the valve that is attached to the truck with a piece of twine to prevent loss of the cap (NC-10). Since I had to pay $5 shipping, I added an extra blue washer gasket and a locking cap since they were so cheap. I feel the new parts are definitely a plus
I’m looking at the same kinda set up for my tundra, but then I ran across the valvomax on Amazon it’s 50.00 and it comes with a screw in hose that pushes up and opens the valve. The only downfall I see to the valvomax is if you take it to a oil change place (which I don’t plan to) without the special hose that opens the valve they’d have to remove the valve. I like the security of that special push in valve thing but like the simplicity of the ball valve basically
I always pay for oil change, of course it takes forever & we’re never truly sure if it was drained properly or tightened the right way.

Excellent video. It is also helpful to prime the filter by adding a small amount of oil into the dry filter just below the rim so that on initial start up the oil is immediately available to lubricate the engine instead of having a dry run until the filter is saturated.

The day the Yota engineer hit the pipe and came up with this oil filter system. I see they've ditched this system on some of their newer vehciles thankfully. Good products from MotivX. I refuse to go thru the hassle of draining the oil filter "cap". Plastic housing?...Really Toyota? I can't deal with this level of DA!
why not attach a plastic tube to the end of the filter drain then into bucket?

Hi! I bought all the gadgets that u show on the video but but but the hose/plastic elbow to connect to the futomo F-133 doesn’t fit, the F-133 has an hexagonal female and the elbow is round! So can you tell me how did u connected the elbow to the Futomo valve!!! Tks in advance

The oil filter via various information flows oil better than the stock oil filter…just looking at the filter compared to the hard oem filter
It is a big upgrade but at a much higher price. But when looking at the cost for the tundra v8 why not use the best of the best products.
I also purchased the motive products and they are great I also cut a 7 inch diameter access hole in my stock skid plate to access the filter. You have a great site it was very helpful when I added the genuine trans cooler kit

I went on the link you listed for the OEM Aluminum oil filter housing But went on sparks parts with same part number listed from your link it doesn't mention fit our tundra. Only for Avalon,camry,highlinder,ravv4,sienna,and venza. Please advise

Why not gently put that flat aluminum circle oil filter drain plug (shown at 17:16) in before reinstalling the oil filter housing, to hold the small o-ring in place- and after installing the oil filter housing - tighten the aluminum circle drain plug with a 3/8" ratchet extentsion?
Any possibility you could provide the part number on the Motivx filter wrench? Looks like the new ones are red in color and do not have the notches like the black one you have. Thanks.
Hey Joe!… Yeah they changed the design, they no longer have the tabs for the filter but it still works… I guess they changed it so there’s no longer a risk of breaking tabs on the plastic housings… Here is the correct link from MotivX, hope it helps!

Did this yesterday, not sure if they changed the 2021's from the past but I had hardly any mess even with the screw in tap for the filter and the shooting oil from the drain pan, swapped out with FUmoto and the AL cap and the pour spout that screws in MAGIC, I was super done so fast I even felt how good this all went I installed my Catsecurity shields right after and all in all was done in like 2 hours maybe 2.5 with the whole shabang !!!! After I drain the oil filter housing I replace gasket and cover, then take down the oil filter. Small time savings.

I’ve considered it, I swore I was going to put an under coating on it when I first bought it but never got around to it… Not sure what I will do with it at this point but it bugs me every time I’m under it for any reason, my OCD can’t handle it 🤣
Check out the Baxter Performance, cartridge to spin on oil filter adapter, it replaces the Toyota canister, then you can use a spin on oil filter, An American company, made in USA.
Why do you hold the plastic drain valve in place after inserting it into your filter? Other videos I've seen show that once it is popped in, it will stay in, so you should be able to insert it and then step back.
I actually mention that in the video, they will pop in and stay in (I demonstrate it at one point)…but more often than not they don’t just pop right in smoothly and by the time you get them seated the oil is makin a mess already…hope that helps!

I ordered the newer version of the Fumoto valve that has a higher flow, but I'm just finding out that you cannot attach the drain hose to it for a cleaner drain of the oil.
Oh really??…that’s strange!…I actually just posted a video of my first oil change on the 2022 TRD Pro where I added the newer SX series, and you can attach the hose to that…wonder why they did that?
@@NitroZ18Fishing It makes no sense to me neither. I returned the new version and just received the older design. The older design with slower flow has the flange to attach the fitting and hose to, whereas the new version is flat where the oil comes out. Major design flaw IMO. Cleaner oil draining (with the hose) is 100% why I want the Fumoto valve.
Just so you know ...if you get an Amsoil oil Filter it comes with that plastic plug to put in also except that it threads in just like the original part and the oil just drains right out then you just un-thread it....done. Haven't had the TRD PRO Oil filter so don't know if it comes with that same part because that TRD oil filter is just as good as the Amsoil. Edit...;: Hey do you not torque your Oil cap at 18 ft lbs and then the little plug at 10 ft lbs?

Much more durable, lots of people have issues with the plastic one breaking if it’s over tightened by dealer or by mistake…the aluminum one eliminates that potential problem, hope that helps!
I bet u do but u should mention to take off oil fill cap to allow oil to drain easier like vent cap on a gas jug.

Great video as usual, I do have a question in the RCI skid plate. So you still need to take it off to do an oil change? I was under the impression that it could stay in place for oil changes?

How long does the oil take to drain with the fumoto valve?
I would say about 5-7 minutes…I usually walk away and do something else while it drains so I’m not sure exactly, but it isn’t too bad…hope that helps!

You do know they make an adapter so you can get rid of the cartridge filter that comes from the factory and use the spin on filter therefore eliminating everything
Check out Baxter Performance, a US company making a quality product here. Cartridge to spin on oil filter adapter.
Stay away from that contraption. Use what is made for the vehicle only. The canister has a bypass valve built in that the regular oil filter does not match.
That motovix filter wrench dosent look like it's from motovix tools.

Another great video. Quick question/comment -- I ordered the linked tube from Industrial Tec Supply to drain the oil pan, but the provided white plastic connectors do no appear properly sized to attach to the Fumoto F-133 drain valve. Any guidance, perhaps I miss-ordered somehow??

After doing my first oil change on my Tundra yesterday, that drain hose and tool is pretty much needed. I’m pretty sure after looking at it, I can drain the filter and change it without taking off the skid plate next time.
I out in 8.5 quarts. Is that too much?
Yea absolutely, I never have to take my RCI plate off again!…if I wasn’t making the video I would have left it on but I wanted to make sure I could show everything well… Mine usually takes right around 8 quarts, so you should be good!… As long as the level is OK on your dipstick you’re all set, hope that helps!

Yea absolutely!…I usually buy 2 boxes at a time so I’m good for 2 changes, I like just having it at the house so I know it’s there when it comes time…that’s why I buy the filters in a 5 pack as well, I stay stocked up so I can change oil when it’s due and I have the time without having to worry about ordering anything…that Fumoto Valve and filter drain tubing are game changers, ridiculously easy and clean…wish I did this years ago!
@@NitroZ18Fishing I read reviews on the valve opening by itself. I don’t see how but I’m just gonna go by the dealership and get some washers and filters. They should include a washer in the filter box.

@@NitroZ18Fishing Mine is is also the TRD PRO. I spoke with Toyota earlier today and the new Tundras do not have an oil filter drain. The oil that spills from the oil filter during removal is captured by a pan just below it and you can connect a 15mm tube to it and collect it in an oil pan.
Ah ok, I know what they’re talking about…I’ll post a video when I do my first oil change and walk through the process…it’s not bad at all

I’m the not so proud owner of a 2021 tundra SR5 trail edition. Great looking truck. Nice to drive. Gas mileage really SUCKS!…. And now this! The most difficult oil change process in the 36 years of owning and driving automobiles! I’ve owned Chevys, Fords, Doges… some good, some not so good…. But this STUPID ENGINEERING tops it all…!!

I don't get why you don't screw the drainbolt onto the bottom of the oil filter cap to hold the small o-ring in place before putting the oil filter cap back on...?

By the way, that oil filter cap wrench is no longer available. It's been redesigned with part number MX2320-US.
You certainly can!… it would be a little tough to tighten all the way but as long as you snug it up after getting the filter housing on the truck you’re good to go!
Oil pan drain plug- 30 ft/lbs
Filter Cap- 18 ft/lbs
Cap Drain Bolt- 10 ft/lbs
Fumoto Valve- 15 ft/lbs
That wrench comes in the kit from MotivX Tools, they may have changed the color but from what I see on Amazon it’s same wrench

Why does it matter if the short or long oil filter baffle is on it? What does it really do other than to just hold the oil filter. Seems like a wast of time. No!?
I have to be honest, I don’t know if it would matter or not but they say you have to swap it…if anything the shorter baffle just wouldn’t support it as well since it’s much shorter than the filter…would it harm anything?…I’m not sure…but it’s super easy to swap!…thanks for watching!

Don’t drain the filter before you remove it. Just loosen it up let it drain then take it all the way off.

Lol well I can tell you was doing the plastic piece all wrong that goes into the filter to drain it. I have a 07 tundra and don’t have any problems or mess. You do know you have to shove it all the way in and it locks into place. So you don’t have to hold it. I have never made a mess with mine.
You are definitely better than I am! 🤣🤣… This is a very common problem, you hear people complain about it all the time, but I’m glad you’re able to do it with no mess!
