Well well... Great Video as always! 👍 Your confusion with the single returning Drone has to do with the undocumented feature which makes it so that once you get out of range, even for a fraction of a sec, all your drones except 1 will Continue attacking! I've never seen a scenario where you can leave ALL your Drones fighting while you get the heck out of Dodge (out of Control Range that is)... Having one drone come with you while the rest kill each target on their own, is a small price to pay methinks. 😉 For each new target you would get back into range briefly - sick your drones on the poor target and again go off and polish your nails or whatever 😆!
The primary issue I find with drones in PVE tends to come into play with PVE activities which are too large to be handled solo, because in these team effort engagements, most of the enemy ai will target drones, and with the sheer number of enemies on the field, even a small fraction of them targeting your drones will very quickly wipe out entire flights of drones before you can even recall them. A fine example of this is the Triglavian wereposts, and other PVE encounters which were part of the Trig invasions. You could certainly bring drones, you just had to expect to watch them all be killed before your eyes in record time.
While i was ratting with Vexor Navy Issue in null i was ganked by stealth bomber and three cruisers, until i focused on a bomber, he tried to fly off my range, but drones followed, so he had to warp off, and then i run) lost only 2 drones out of 5. Drones is life, drones is love.
I was ratting in nul with my first VNI when a daredevil tackled me. I couldn't touch him with my guns or drones, and a minute later a group of his Vexor buddies showed up to finish the job. That hurt.
I run the same fit except with a MWD to replace the AB and an adaptive armor plate instead of the reactive. If you are going to be kiting, you need a MWD to outrun elites and there won't be enough time for the reactive armor to adapt to the correct damage types. I also replaced the railguns with med strike cannons as they don't use up your capacitor and they have a longer range.
Thanks for the guide, it's perfect timing for me, as I am a bit behind the curve any way - and just exploring the idea of getting this as an upgrade to do PVE
Hello. I am an old school Eve player and have been playing Eve Echoes since beta, I was a pve player money maker for my Corp by ratting in Sansha space as well as scanning down all the THINGS for them Armor Plates lol. Both Vexor and VNI were my ships of choice for Sansha ratting. Just an FYI, if your skills are trained, there is not a lot you cant do using just a regular Vexor than a VNI. Yes, it is a better ship overall but the cost reflects that. I am must less salty losing a Vexor while ratting, then a VNI lol. Also another advantage of Echoes is that you can equip anything you want in your high slots. Missiles all the way IMO. Range is king and unless you plan on armor tanking, which you can do with a Vexor/VNI, you want the range of missiles for PVE content. If you are in Null, I would probably say Rapids are the way to go. Getting the tackle frigs off the field quickly will allow you to get out of a many hairy situations. I know that there are some inherent differences between the base game and Echoes but one thing that I feel is the same is how you fit your ships. One thing that I learned that when you can, you should fill your 'HOLE" in your damage profile no matter the ship when possible. Since there is no passive way to do this, it needs to be done with the rig slot. Sure it sucks but, IF you should ever get jumped, most folks will be equipped thinking they know where your weakness is. By using the Anti-Explosive pump 1 which is really cheap gives you 30 resists which is HUGE which makes your hardener a lot more efficient when damage is incoming. The one thing that I am disappointed in is that the only thing you can orbit to speed tank is the mission point. I am so use to orbiting a planetary object, it take some getting use to. Anyway, I appreciate your content. You guys who are working on providing us ways to get better at playing this game are amazing. Keep up the good work.
I would recommend using strike cannons instead of missles and railguns. They have a 37km range to begin with without skills and i still hit with my vni 41 km out they also dont use much capacitor either
i used to use hammmerheads, but they are bad at killing mwd elites and keep chasing them while dealing little to no damage. So i switched to the faster ones explosive for armor tanks and em for shield tanks. Might try hammerheads again when i get prophecy.
To follow-up on the armor hardener topic, ignoring base resist, Reactives are slightly better against Railguns and Lasers (two damage types) worse against Cannons (three damage types), and vastly worse against Missiles (four damage types), because the total resistance that Reactives give is exactly half that of Adaptives. The reason they're better against 2 damage types is because they distributes the damage proportionally to the incoming damage, instead of just distributing it equally. Accounting for base resists changes things a bit but it ends up having the same results most of the time. And obviously, Adaptives are better against multiple different weapon types.
Real vexor pro's definitely use high slots for dps. Swap out that crappy drone dmg mod for armor plating. While active it almost triples your armor hp, not active it's double. This allows you to comfortably get close enough to take hits to use your high slots without much worry. The use of your high slots equates to much more dps then a drone dmg mod. Not to mention letting your drones do all the work is incredibly boring after awhile.. Sure, it works... But zzzzzzzzzzz
@@CodeguruX drones are intensive skill ups. 3 categories with 3 tiers each: (regular// advanced// expert), drone operation, drone upgrade, and drone. So yes, it does take awhile to get there. Vexor navy has around 2800-2900 armor hp give or take when stock. Good 800mm plate mod gives around 2300-2500 armor hp. So just equipping it almost doubles your armor hp. When activating it, it provides an additional 2300-2500 for the duration of the mod rotation. Armor also has the best natural resist stats in the game on any ship and can be enhanced with hardeners. So to answer your question.... yes, it makes a big difference 😁 the trade off is it slows you down and cuts into inertia modifier. Vexor navy has onboard ship skill bonuses that lessen the inertia penalty, but your definitely going to want to run an afterburner so your speed isn't terrible.

Vespas are far cheaper so the "middle" damage type theory wouldn't explain it, especially since the Hammerheads have worse overall stats than the other drones (defense, range, speed, etc.).
FWIW, I have not found that drones continue to attack targets in range after destroying one. I have to keep burning back into drone control range to assign a new target.

It can be painfully slow should you stray too far, and you do face the risk of someone stealing your rewards. I think drones are better for high end content (although missiles and cannons are both perfectly viable), but for ISK grinding 6s and 7s I think missiles are still better. Drones just do less DPS aka less ISK. And I don't think the benefit of running higher tier content offsets the speed of quick farming 6s and 7s. Caveat being I've never run Story Missions so I have no idea how the profit compares to null sec ratting anomalies/inquisitors/scouts/deadspaces.

Also, I hate that navy issue ships DON'T HAVE SKINS. I don't care about "camo in space". I want my TITANIUM VEXOR SKIN. And yes, the best damage type for drones is Thermal, hands down. This applies to EVERY SHIP, with the caveat that player ships can - quite obviously - rig for resistances as well equip resistance modules. But with only base resistances, Thermal works best because its damage will go up against 20%/35% resistances compared to the others. Basically, the less resistances it goes up against, the better it deals damage, and thermal offers the least resistances from shields to armor (hull is irrelevant because ALL SHIPS have 33% resist on hull). The next best is EM and Explosive which are tied (they both go up against 5% more resistances than Thermal) and the last is Kinetic which goes up against 10% more resistances than Thermal.
Drones are overpowered imo. They are quite expensive, but once the prices drop to "normal" levels, they should get targeted by npc's. It makes no sense the way it works now, but yes. Your statement i very true for now. @Excoundrel - What is your thoughts on the above?
one of the trade offs of drones being so powerful is that they are also the only weapon that can be destroyed. not in pve of course but theres always the chance of a ganker coming into your anom.
I don't see your argument about reactive hardener and how resists work. Resist boni don't care whether you have resists already. Resists added are just relative to how much resists you do NOT have so you can never reach 100% As to soloing encounters at close range: I did all T7 encounters with 2 nos, 2 repairers, a reactive hardeners, an ab and rep boost rigs. One rep does 556 repair in 7.02 seconds for me. I tanked elites, but when I started out with worse skills I had to warp out a lot.

Make a can at 251 km from center. All aggro stops and after killing you can warp back and forth. To get the loot as you can warp to wrecks.
I usually use 2 cans..
@@TheGnue "Can"?
@@TheGnue Are you talking about jettisoning a piece of cargo and use as Warp To points?
could you make a video cyclone vs caracal for pve? or just explain why do you prefer Caracal over cyclone :)
He did explain, more maneuverable and better with rapids.
@@o1GAUGES1o I know, I mean more detailed explanation :)
I bet that will be the next thing they improve ;-) After online autopilot and Z1-T3 Base Improvement.
Curious why you want a Myrmidon over a Prophecy?
I don't, maybe I mixed my words up but prophecy is 100% better
Excoundrel Gaming copy that thanks
Man i decided to follow the missile craze (im a massive noob) and now im kinda regretting it
Missiles are fine! I'm still waiting for the drake!!
missiles are amazing! dude missiles has been nerfed like 5 times because its too op.
rapidfire missiles and missiles in general will ALWAYS be good, even in regular eve they still rock, your skill investment is safe!
Drones and missiles are still the most effective weapon for pve
Also, missile been nerfed for a view time, but they still very good
Sammeeee, drones be alluring now more so than missiles XD
The drone firepower rig says it only works with sentry drones. Does it work with normal drones?
Yep
It does, yes.
@Excoundrel Gaming How many alt accounts do you use?
3 at the moment
Could've almost bought a Prophecy for the cost of his stab rigs lol.
Use strike cannons or missiles they dont use cap
I think drones are better for high end content (although missiles and cannons are both perfectly viable), but for ISK grinding 6s and 7s I think missiles are still better. Drones just do less DPS aka less ISK. And I don't think the benefit of running higher tier content offsets the speed of quick farming 6s and 7s.
Caveat being I've never run Story Missions so I have no idea how the profit compares to null sec ratting anomalies/inquisitors/scouts/deadspaces.
Drones are not broke. The range seems OP because most players are not into Battleships.. yet
Drones + Missiles are the best.
Not the best yet...
But the potential is there.
Faction drones come to me!
What do u think is the best one lol
Right now? Missle the best.. but when faction drones come.. owh boyy
So I’m actually Brokkr in game lol, when faction drones come out they will be the first thing I buy, I usually use my vni for pvp I’ve switched to my prophecy for story missions and anomalies
Hello fellow horde friend. I’m hitting 355 dps on my vni with just under 18k total defense. I still have plenty of skills left for both so I’ll probably hit 400dps within a week or two.
Dont get me wrong I love my drones, right now I enjoy my new Prophecy (over 400 drone DPS). BUT! After Prophecy/Myrmidion there is no better PvE medium drones ship. Only guardian ships with lower DPS over all. So after tech8 it could be better to invest in other weapon types.
But my sub button says unsubscribe. Im not pressing it.
"Large scale pvp drones get focused down"
Dude, try facing a 10-ship fleet of all drone boats unleashing *50 drones at once.* As another 10-ship fleet try focusing ALL OF THAT DOWN lol.
I dream of creating Drone Only corp, who always would use that tactic.
@@Bogdan221192 the only problem is, losing a drone ship might be far more expensive than using any standard build that isn't a faction ship.
@@ferofax well i can solo do a t 10 missions using Vexor Navy, sooo money is not a problem while droneboats so OP in PvE right now)
Excuse me? how????
@@yuyukosaigyouji7910 first i am luring small guys (frigates-cruisers) away from spawn point, after destroing them warping right in the crowd of BC and BS, and orbit one of them, at the speed at 700+ they barely can hit me, BC is first priority, then BS. Dealing with elites can be a problem, id its BS + BC with energy neutralisers, but 1-2 jumps to the station can help. So after a few hours of that, a pile of money ia mine)
Resists added are just relative to how much resists you do NOT have so you can never reach 100%
As to soloing encounters at close range:
I did all T7 encounters with 2 nos, 2 repairers, a reactive hardeners, an ab and rep boost rigs.
One rep does 556 repair in 7.02 seconds for me. I tanked elites, but when I started out with worse skills I had to warp out a lot.
09:30 The info on drones continuing to damage is wrong. If you get out of range they return
I’ve been almost 200k away and my drones keep fighting.
@@aefinney after for her testing, the thing is that when there is only 1 drone of a certain type is doesn’t stick and returns as soon as you get out of range. So, 1 drone boats cannot benefit from this and if you use 2-1 for example, the 1 will always leave.
2 infiltrator 3 valkyries ;)
"change my mind"
No need.
It is the best.
The fact you need drones V for VNI and myrm, but this skill is useless for better variants of these ships killed the drones for me
@Smith-Mundt Modernization NDAA 2013(Look into it) in order to use 5 drones you need drones V, vexor sniper and myrmidon gurdian can use only 4 drones so that is 500k SP wasted in the long run. 500k SP is a lot for new character
o7 from Brokkr
Make. A. Boom and Zoom. Video.
I’m just curious how people make so much money
Consistency.
Enough time and high tier encounters (up to 5.5 mil per encounter without rat rewards but those are rare). Sometimes named loot.
And the story line missions (either sell them or do them yourself).
Easy. High Tier special anomalies in null pay major isk in loot. T9 or T10 Scout/Inq/DEADSPACE can drop upwards of 1.5 to 2 billion isk depending on drops that are split between members and sold. I’ve made $600 mil in one encounter took just enter 2 hours.
@@ajcoolgrey Yeah, last time I ventured into null. I got destroyed by a corp. So I kinda don't got there
@@ajcoolgrey how many person did u need to take down thos t10 dedspace? and how much is the bounty reward, just bounty, no loot
Ayyeee drones.
Yeah sure, 400mio warp core rigs, but not even full faction fit :D Not even T7?
Being that’s it my ship, I have separate mk7 drones for it also full faction fittings I just swapped them on my prophecy
Bro stop saying that why is it your fault the drones are going to nerf
Just a note, you don't have to do the videos all in one take, if you just plucked the skills part into the middle of the video nobody would've noticed you forgot to record it. Not that it's a big deal, just saying, edited videos are a good thing and single takes aren't necessary.
but as a parent of two kids.. and a eve addict.. i can see where he might want one take. ;)
Better than missiles? Is this click bait m8?
For pve
So the vids where he talked about the calacal being the best for pvp was incorrect and he has changed his mind?
@@rightdamask8705 yes I've changed my mind, drones are too good. Missiles were the best until tier 7 unlocked but the prophecy and the myrm are miles better than the cyclone
Damn with missile nerfs potentially coming oct 13, are you going to start training drones on your main account?
@@rightdamask8705 nah, I'll wait to see what the missile nerfs are like. I think if you nerf missiles you're probably only nerfing rapid medium missiles
Its not broken lol they dont do enough DPS so its not broken. In fact they need to increase the DPS of the drones
This is because we don't have faction drones.for other weapon systems we have faction weapons.
Shhhhh....they will get smashed with the nerf bat :(
