Monster House, yep, I remember this one and, I just thought of something: Why is it that children’s films and tv shows from the 1990s and 2000s decades that opted for CGI as an animation choice, and, knowingly or unknowingly did so because they either did or didn’t anticipate just how far CGI would advance in such a short amount of time that makes what they created look awkward, creepy, unnerving, and uncanny? Very true, and I love that a family-centric/kid-friendly movie has a character like him! Mr. Nebbercracker is a good example of a complex character that can help broaden kids' minds to how the world/humanity isn't often so black-and-white, and how some people aren't just simply good guys vs bad guys - some people are just trying their best with what they can, and being a good person doesn't always mean getting everything right.
I’ve always loved this movie’s plot twist of the house being Constance and Nebbercracker spending years scaring off neighborhood kids in order to keep them safe from her. It takes a character who is painted as a traditional antagonist and turns him into a silent hero.
“Why can’t you just stay away from her” was a clever hint in the beginning. It sounded like he was trying to say stay away from “here” but it was from “her”

“I can take you away from here. Would you like that?” *smiles on the verge of tears* “yes” Something about that two line exchange always hit just right for me. It’s so simple and pure.
I think, first of all, the animation was really well done and spared no expense for the joy on Constance's face and the line delivery in the scene was sweet and subtle so that added a lot, of course. But ultimately, It's the dialogue that does it for me. It isn't that classic line of "I'm getting you out of here!" its instead, "I CAN take you away [...] Would you like that?" Nebercracker doesn't see himself as a hero doing something noble for someone less fortunate, he's treating her like a human and asking for her consent before he takes her away. It really speaks to how much he loved her just at first sight and wanted her happy whether it was with him or not and I really find their romance so sweet because of it.
There was so much complexity and emotion thrown into this bizarre relationship that it really did feel real. At first you think it's going to be funny, but it's actually very poignant and tragic. In many ways it reminded me of Bonnie from "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", the agony of the world seeing you as a joke due to morbid obesity and the purity of love that comes from even just one person reaching out to be your friend.
Monster House is probably the most underrated animated film of the last 20 years or so. Funny, entertaining, even a bit creepy and scary at parts, and great voice acting. I watch it every year. I wish I had it as a kid.
By far my favorite moments in this movie are things that are left unsaid so you have to pick up on the clues to put together the story yourself. For instance, Nebbercracker comes back in an ambulance. This instantly makes me imagine how, as soon as Nebbercracker woke up, he demanded to be returned home or tried to go home himself only for the hospital to stop him due to medical reasons, so he had to sneak out and steal an ambulance just to get back to his house and save the neighborhood kids. Man, he’s seriously tough.
Per word of Dan Harmon, producer Steven Spielberg and director Gil Kenan made the final product scarier in tone than he had wanted and forced in the scene expanding on Constance's origin and death against his wishes. Considering the film is in fact called Monster House and the backstory is actually very important to the plot, some fans of the film would see their influence as a good thing. Ironically, this was in addition to executive decisions made to make the film less disturbing, such as having all of the house's victims show up alive and well during the credits and rejecting Harmon's original idea to have the house be full of human organs.
@@louisduarte8763 Dan Harmon can be...naive? (CoughNFTShowCough) Overall, though, I think the studio's version is only about 20% less disturbing, but the things they made more and less disturbing are the best choices possible.
Monster House is easily one of THE most underrated Halloween movies around! And truth be told, the shadow hand scene is genuinely terrifying to me! When I was 5, I had one hell of a vivid nightmare, a robed stranger dragging me out of bed, dragging me down a hallway to a mural of a large white hand with an eye in the palm, it leaped off the wall crushing my head, literally holding me in it's gaze for god-only-knows how long. I was forced awake by my mum and sister, saying i was screaming for the last 5 minutes, they had to toss me into a shallow-filled bath to snap me out of it. Ever since, I had severe issues with eye and hand contact... mum still says it was a demon "cursing" me with autism to this day. 😐
The name of the movie is just so generic and it reminds me of what Danny Elfman said about the Beetlejuice movie, that the studio wanted to change the name to “House Ghost”.
@@nuclearcatbaby1131 How does my praise of a kids movies being way scarier for me by triggering a childhood trauma, relate to the movie's simplistic title being too generic for you? 🤔
@@tripleg2513 Might have something to do with my mum literally kicking me awake for sleeping more than two hours straight to prevent another "possession", which resulted in me having restless microsleeps as I got older. Nowadays I have to take Quetiapine, a shizophrenia-treating medication, just to get a good night rest. Whether or not they supress these undocumented night terrors too, I don't know. Tho it doesn't explain how or why I was vividly nightmaring some Lovecraftian Hand-Eye monster staring and crushing me at 5, despite never seeing or imagining anything like that before then... 😐
This movie had a lot of subtle humour. For instance, DJ asks Chowder where his parents are, and Chowder replies that his mum is at the movies with her personal trainer. It took me ages to get that she was likely having an affair with him.
I'll never forget how much I wanted this movie as a kid and how loud I screamed when I got it on my 10th birthday. I've never been that hype about a movie since.
Another Fun Fact: In the original screenplay, DJ and Chowder are harassed by two bullies named Ryan and Cameron who get eaten after DJ purposely lures them to the house as bait. The two characters were removed from the screenplay because the studio thought their death was far too dark, and that the bullies combined with DJ's cruel babysitter, babysitter's boyfriend, and Nebbercracker all made the film seem much more cruel.
@@EkoBahamutyeah it feels like something out of character for him. Though to be fair they could have kept it by having the kids drag DJ to the house to scare him only for the house to eat them and DJ escaping.
@shawncleary3450 Or DJ could be trying to lure the bullies to a meet-up in front of his house so Chowder could take a picture of their misdeeds, only for them to get lured by the house and eaten.
One thing I love about this movie is that NO ONE is questioning the fact an entire house disappeared in a single night with trees and power lines laying in the street.
I guess the same can be said about the first Poltergeist movie. I mean, SOME people noticed and made mention of it in the sequels but was chalked up to a mass hallucination lol
No one called the cops after a crazy old man forced a little girl off her tricycle and broke the wheel off before taking it into his house, so... yeah, something tells me this suburb isn't exactly on the ball.
I really love the details with the house coming to life. Like the trees being arms. The carpet pattern looking like a tongue and of course the doorway being teeth. The creativity is amazing.
Ah, Nostalgia-ween, my favorite time of year. This one is such an underrated classic. Impressive motion capture, a twist that both saddens me and creeps me out every time, and pretty edgy humor for it's rating back then.
I watched it as a kid and a few years back; I enjoyed it both times! The additional element with Constance added an additional layer to the movie that gave a reason to partially empathize with the monster house
Honestly, the fact that the monster is lovable was a novelty to me. I'm not really an amateur of horror in general, so most of the "monsters" I see are despicable, horrible and cruel entities to be run from and/or stopped... But here they genuinely depicted a couple ACTUALLY in love, willing to live and die together no matter what happens, and that turns the entire situation into a beautiful tragedy instead of a "proper" horror story, to me.
There's something else to be said about Constance being deemed a "monster" in life because of her appearance and being exploited for it; but, when she dies and actually becomes the house, it wasn't her appearance that made her monstrous, or her "ugliness" that made her evil, but it was the fact that she was traumatized in life. I actually thought it was more novel the fact that there was an early 2000s movie with a fat woman that didn't make a joke out of her size, they just made it important to why people treated her so horribly in life and why her husband was so protective of his home. The story of Constance and Nebercracker actually always made me cry growing up because of how pure their love was and how innocent Constance really was before her death and transformation, it all really was an unfortunate accident that ended with a poor woman living out the rest of her existence as what society turned her into - a monster.
Another Fun Fact: There is a back story involving Skull (played by Jon Heder) and Bones (played by Jason Lee) being in an amateur heavy metal band. When we first meet Zee (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal), she is wearing a top with "Skull 'n' Bones" written on, and later puts one of their cassette tapes on called "Live! at the Smell". She is also dating Bones in the movie.
@@brenyatta I don't think she actually did, because when Bones didn't care and just walked away, it seemed like it wasn't the reaction she wanted. I think she was trying to make him jealous.
I’m surprised he didn’t mention that one scene that somehow became a meme where Skull runs back to chowder and intensely eats some candy he had and runs off again.
This is a really underrated movie imo. Nice twist, cool concept, decent enough characters. Really enjoyed it as a kid and I think it still holds up pretty well.
I was 5 or 6 when this came out. I missed out on it in theaters back then but I did get to see it in theaters a few years ago when some theaters were opening back up and showed some movies for Halloween like this and Coraline. I kinda prefer watching it in a theater vs at home now
Uhh, fun fact. When Nebbercracker came out of the ambulance, he exits through the front doors. Strange, right? This implies that he basically escaped from the hospital, stole the ambulance, and drove all the way back to the neighborhood just for the house. It's a detail that's pretty interesting to spot. Anyways, solid review, short, sweet, and to the point.
Holy shit I never noticed that, but it makes total sense because A. He’s still in his hospital gown B. He is military trained and C. If I had a ruthless monster house wife left all by themselves, I wouldn’t stick around that long for medical checks
Monster House is such a good movie to watch with family or friends during October. It's definitely a must watch if you're a huge fan of animated horror movies.
Would be interesting if blumhouse made a sequel where it's live action with a completely different set of characters after the event of the first movie
Man, I remember going to see this in theaters as a kid, my nieces recently got introduced to this movie and they really like it so now we've got one more thing that we can enjoy together 😄
Mr. Nebbercracker was the hero this entire time. He sacrificed away his entire life to protect others by scaring them away from his house. Yes, he was mean about it, but he had to be, otherwise the house would have hurt people. You can tell he is really a kind soul who looks out for others, yet he never got to really live his life as his life consisted of constantly scaring people away to protect them and having to take on a "mean old man" persona.
Yes, I was watching a reaction of this film just the other day. Absolute classic from my childhood, glad to see we're finally getting a full Nostalgia Critic video on it.
I remember watching this on Cartoon Network back in the day and I loved it ever since. I need more movies like this because I kinda miss the motion capture animation and I seen the behind the scenes, it looked fun for the cast
I really liked the Halloween 3 reference intro! Your probably one of my favorite TH-camrs, as someone trying to make his own review channel, I can say that you are definitely one of my biggest inspirations
I think this movie is an underrated classic as I enjoyed it ever since I was a kid and I think reviewing it is a fantastic start to your nostalgia ween for this year and I absolutely love the new nostalgia ween opening titles 🎃👹😈🔥❤️
Something worth noting is that when Nebercracker comes back he's alone out the drivers seat hospitals don't let you do that which mean he broke out of the hospital and seeing how he has a stick of dynamite by the end was probably ready to destroy the house (most likelywith himself still inside)
Not only am I excited to see what this year's Nostalgiaween is going to have, but just watching this makes me want to go back and watch this movie again, especially since I've only seen it once when I was a kid. I also did see Doug's health update. Hope and pray that he gets better. By the way, what happened to the studio that Doug usually films his video at?
16:07 He did not actually scare the kids. He’s just warning them to get out of his territory because he knew that this house is suddenly gonna become alive by a soul of his loved one any second.
Im glad more and more people are watching this movie as it's legitimately an underrated gem in my opinion and a pretty creepy premise that actually scared me as a kid
I remember on dvd the option screen had this freaky thing where it was just the house but after a couple minutes it would turn monsterous and scream at the audience. It used to always freak me out when I was a kid. I remember one time I had to grab something near the screen when it was dark and it was horrifying.
I enjoy the popularity this film has gotten over the years because it's a really great film that everyone who likes a little bit of spooky in their life should watch
I honestly love this movie. It's creative, has it's own vibe and is just so visually inventive! Along with feeling like a horror movie version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid! And yes, it scared the absolute crap out of me as a kid!
I don't know why, but this felt like a love letter to some 80s dark fantasy back in the day. Which makes it all the funnier when certain tropes and archtypes come up and you go "did they really just go there?" Because it's not anything new, just the type of humor not seen in a while by kid film standards. Also i know they were using motion capture, but the first time i saw this, i was amazed at some of the filmwork here. Some of the camera shots, some of the transitions, the occasional panning to reveals, ect. It was animation that took the feel of being filmed up a level for other films like it at the time.
14:57 "his heart went out to her for being so mistreated." I'm not saying he didn't feel bad for her but it was definitely secondary, his main motivation was being attracted to her.
I saw this movie in theaters and I forgot just how good a movie this is for such a strange concept. The arc with the old man is fantastic, how you see him not only move on from mourning his late wife to now he tries to protect his neighbor's kids from the house her angry spirit haunts. Like who coulda came up with that? And for a kid's movie no less, this was definitely a lot of effort paying off. Great movie.
I actually played the video game for Monster House as a kid. The arcade game that appeared in this film was playable as a bonus game. It's actually a decent movie licensed game for the time.
That moment where the main character is sleeping, the room turns red and the shadow of the house enters his room is literally one of the creepiest shots I've ever seen in a movie, and I've watched all the classics
Also helps that they make it seem like he’s haunting the house for most of the film. Before they enter the house and see her pictures, the only hints we get that it’s Constance haunting the house is that you can very briefly hear Nebbercracker say “stay away from her!” Just before he has his heart attack and even then it’s cut off so abruptly and done in such a way you could see it as him trailing off and saying “stay away from here”
I adore this movie still to this day. Very good mo-cap animation and great story. I’ve actually been curious if you’d ever do a Nostalgia Critic on this film Doug
Fun fact there was a website at one point which had a lot more lore with this including other instances of this type of monster. Apparently there may have also been a book planned at one point detailing it and other monsters but it was cut from the film
Crazy to think they kept that service up until the end of last month The last DVD I rented from Netflix was “Grave of the Fireflies”. Which was kind of oddly appropriate
2 things, my favorite line from this movie is from Nebbercracker when he calls Chowder "Pork Chop" when they're running from the house, and second, this was the film that convinced me that Nick Cannon was trying hard to be Walmart Chris Rock.
I remember getting this movie when it came out on DVD and I still have it to this day. It still holds a place in my heart for one of my childhood movies
I remember watching this with my cousin as a kid! I always found the backstory about the house to be my favorite, scene even though it also depressed me a bit. 😢 Side note, I did not know the lady who voiced Jessica Rabbit voiced Constance as well. That’s amazing!
This was one of my fav animated movies from my childhood. 😍I loved it! This might also be my first encounter with anything horror related. The scene with the shadow of the house appearing in the bedroom has haunted my nightmares for many years! 😱
‘While the animation is pretty outdated, I don’t think I’ll ever get over the scene where the concrete crumbles away leaving behind her skeleton. Even as an adult it still gives me the heebie-jeebies to this day. They were really pushing the envelope with what was meant to be just a children’s movie.
Another Fun Fact: During the vacuum cleaner scene where the boys dress it up to look like a monster, it is dressed just like a kid who walks into the Halloween party in Donnie Darko (2001) with the same mask and Letterman's jacket.
That seen where he calls the house back legit freaked me out as a kid because after he dialed the phone, my mom’s cell phone rang in the other room. It was someone else of course but it was both awesome and freaky.
This movie was my freakin' childhood! I remember seeing the trailer and being scared shitless, but wanting to see it anyway. Even in the theater, I was still scared shitless, but I loved it. The Critic is just going through my childhood movies now, and I love it. Thanks a bunch, Doug. Can't wait for the rest of Nostalgia-ween!
I love this film as a kid and I still do the music is masterpiece level, the acting for, everyone to the kids and Steve is incredible. And the twist reveal + the ending is Oscar worthy.❤😂
When looking back at this film. It’s not only an underrated animated film, but I also like the film’s idea. While the animation has it’s flaws for being wonky and un natural. I really admire the concept of a horror flick about a possessed house caused by a trapped soul. I feel very sorry of how Constance was treated in the past of what gave her that territorial personality. That part had some emotion in the film. It’s the clever script and emotion that makes this film good. I even like the idea of a family friendly horror flick as well next to Tim Burton and Laika films

I wish I had it as a kid.
i remember the trailers is what turned me off from it as a kid. It looked bad but man is it good.
and with great plot
Exactly dude!! I’ve been saying this for ages
Wait, he wanted the tone less scary, but still have the house full of human guts?
Ooo that’s really interesting!
@@louisduarte8763 Dan Harmon can be...naive? (CoughNFTShowCough) Overall, though, I think the studio's version is only about 20% less disturbing, but the things they made more and less disturbing are the best choices possible.
I’m glad they didn’t fill the house with human guts, it gave them a chance to get creative with the design of the house and how it worked
Steven Spielberg saves a lot of movies.. A new Hope likely wouldn't have been as good without his touch.
@@archangel9363I'm more concerned your mother thinks autism is a fucking demons curse.. what the actual hell
Oh, that's just night terrors. My brother used to have those, though it is a little strange that it only happened to you the one time
@@tripleg2513 Might have something to do with my mum literally kicking me awake for sleeping more than two hours straight to prevent another "possession", which resulted in me having restless microsleeps as I got older.
I mean everyone turned out to be alive in the end so would it really be that dark?
@@connorwood9211 I guess the dark part was DJ purposefully luring them towards the house
Ahem JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
One thing I love about this movie is that NO ONE is questioning the fact an entire house disappeared in a single night with trees and power lines laying in the street.
And the only other person who did notice after was the little girl who had her tricycle taken away
@@JarethTheGoblinKingForever but still, at least it’s a one off thing
@@EmanJonesy88 True.
I'm honestly so excited to see what is in store for Nostalgiaween this year
I know one of them will be Coraline.
I’m sure we’re going to have Stephen King Time again at some point.
I hope we can see a review of the Scooby-Doo and Courage crossover movie.
You and me both
I hope he does Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders. Since he reviewed Zombie Island and the Witches Ghost.
Agreed
Hell yeah, this was one of my favorites too.
That was a sad twist.
Yep. That sums it up pretty perfectly.
Additionally
The singer that is singing when Dee puts in the tape is;
Michael Starr (Frontman of Steel Panther)
There's also a monster house comic you can find for pretty cheap! Goes into depth of Bones and Skull and also when Bones got his kite taken.
@@mr.mortmanslibrary3865 how could I find that comic? Edit: nevermind, found it.
Also, after Bones escapes the house, Zee is seen with Skull (whom she refers to by that name) and ditches Bones for him
@@brenyatta I don't think she actually did, because when Bones didn't care and just walked away, it seemed like it wasn't the reaction she wanted.
It’s kinda awesome we’ve gone full circle and are now experiencing 2000s movies for nostalgiaween
Man, I remember first watching this movie when I was a kid back in 2013. Now I'm a sophomore in college. Time sure does fly!
I was in college when this was released. I'm old
10 years ago, damn!
Agreed, I can't believe that 2013 was an entire decade ago!
I was in high school when this movie came out and saw it the following summer, 2007.
6:12 Fun fact: This movie actually does take place in the 80s
All the best Halloween movies seem to (sorry 'Halloween' from 1978, but it's true).
You know it's a good day when it's the start of a new Nostalgiaween season
Facts
Indeed
Some honestly really creative visuals. The way the house moves and utilizes the furniture and and parts of the house itself is really cool
A good movie to start the Halloween season with.
Here here
It's a great movie and I really love Constance's tragic backstory! She's one of the most sympathetic villains of all time!
Monster house I remember being one of my favorite Halloween movies growing up. The uncanny valley of the characters just added to the creepiness.
I wouldn't say it was too uncanny, the designs were still stylized enough to avoid falling that valley.
@@manuelalbertoromero9528
Still overall ugly/not pleasant to look at. But maybe we are/I am so used to pretty pixels of Disney/Pixar.
@@andrewyp6724 Heh. Maybe. Though for this film, it kind of works.
13:19 In the Latin American dub, Chowder replies "So it's monstruating" which makes it 100 times funnier if you ask me
Various examples are showing me that South/Latin American dubs are better than North American dubs.
I was wondering when this movie would be talked about, glad that this movie is getting recognition after so long
"Where are your parents, Chowder?"
"My dad is at the pharmacy, and my mom is at the movies with her personal trainer"
This movie was a staple of my childhood and I still absolutely love it
Say what you will, But I for one consider Monster House to be a classic! It's one of my favorite movies to watch during Spooky season!!!
Man, I remember going to see this in theaters as a kid, my nieces recently got introduced to this movie and they really like it so now we've got one more thing that we can enjoy together 😄
Loved this movie! It's honestly quite good and i Made sure to stay away from such houses as a kid.
Me too. Whenever I see these types of houses I get a little spooked
Me too
Love how you guys used the Silver Shamrock song! One of the more underrated jingles for you to use and give it attention to. Kudos to you, Doug. 👍
That Jingle haunted me for years, up there with Small World.
I remember watching this on Cartoon Network back in the day and I loved it ever since. I need more movies like this because I kinda miss the motion capture animation and I seen the behind the scenes, it looked fun for the cast
Oh god yes on The Flicks block.
13:07 They brought the super soakers to put out the fire.
I really liked the Halloween 3 reference intro! Your probably one of my favorite TH-camrs, as someone trying to make his own review channel, I can say that you are definitely one of my biggest inspirations
That's where that intro came from?
This movie became a classic for me
It has humor, creepy backstory, interesting characters and the style/motion captures still is impressive.
Man the intros for Nostalgiaween just keep on getting better and better and show what great animators are out there
I probably wouldn’t say better but they keep being creative and varied every year with them paying homage to different things related to horror
Yeah, halloween 3 is underrated. Happy to see a reference.
What is this years intro parodying? I don't recognize it.
@@molcatz9634 Halloween III. The Silver Shamrock Commercial.
The 2000's was really a good era when it comes to movies themed around Halloween.
I honestly love the story of the house, and how subtly they convey the twist.
I think this movie is an underrated classic as I enjoyed it ever since I was a kid and I think reviewing it is a fantastic start to your nostalgia ween for this year and I absolutely love the new nostalgia ween opening titles 🎃👹😈🔥❤️
The reason they brought Super soakers was because they were trying to extinguish the furnace. It gets wet, it goes out, the house dies .
This film was one of my favorites during Halloween. It's still a good time watching.
Something worth noting is that when Nebercracker comes back he's alone out the drivers seat hospitals don't let you do that which mean he broke out of the hospital and seeing how he has a stick of dynamite by the end was probably ready to destroy the house (most likelywith himself still inside)
He got the dynamite when the house threw up the three kids.
They covered that awhile back. Roof leak that collapsed the ceiling and an extremely unhelpful insurance company.
Oh god, the nostalgia is hitting hard with this one. I remember seeing this movie as a kid and it was one of my favorite childhood horror films.
I honestly love this movie. It's creative, has it's own vibe and is just so visually inventive! Along with feeling like a horror movie version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid! And yes, it scared the absolute crap out of me as a kid!
This film was great. Definitely an underrated piece of Animation history.
Certainly the most oddest entry of image movers lineup of motion capture films .
What a strong way to kick off Nostalgiaween for the year 2023 and just makes me so glad were back in the season again
14:57 "his heart went out to her for being so mistreated." I'm not saying he didn't feel bad for her but it was definitely secondary, his main motivation was being attracted to her.
This year's Nostalgia-ween is starting off strong! Can't wait to see what's next!
Yeah that game is a hidden gem
@@PhantomShadow224Especially since I rarely see it on any "Best Movie Licensed Games" lists.
That moment where the main character is sleeping, the room turns red and the shadow of the house enters his room is literally one of the creepiest shots I've ever seen in a movie, and I've watched all the classics
The nightmare scene where the giant shadowy hand tries to grab him scared the hell out of me as a kid.
Man, this is one of my favorite films. The Nebbercracker being alive twist works with how long he is out of the film.
Saw this in theaters as a kid. Certified childhood classic!
Another Fun Fact: Wilhelm Scream: Can very faintly be heard as DJ walks down the stairs, while Zee, and Bones are watching the TV.
This wasn't a bad flick. It was one of the firrst netflix movies i rented when they did discs
Crazy to think they kept that service up until the end of last month
The last DVD I rented from Netflix was “Grave of the Fireflies”. Which was kind of oddly appropriate
I always saw this film as the darker antithesis of Pixar’s “Up”. Did anyone else feel the same way?
This just feels me with so much hope and welcomeness to see what other great underrated classics we shall see this nostalgiaween
2 things, my favorite line from this movie is from Nebbercracker when he calls Chowder "Pork Chop" when they're running from the house, and second, this was the film that convinced me that Nick Cannon was trying hard to be Walmart Chris Rock.
0:40, Who knew he's still reviewing Films at his House since he found out the Studio is getting fixed up during his review of The Simpsons Movie
I remember getting this movie when it came out on DVD and I still have it to this day. It still holds a place in my heart for one of my childhood movies
I think this just shows why animation and dark more creepier thoughts of your imagination can work so well if you form them together
I remember watching this with my cousin as a kid! I always found the backstory about the house to be my favorite, scene even though it also depressed me a bit. 😢
Side note, I did not know the lady who voiced Jessica Rabbit voiced Constance as well. That’s amazing!
Just from this first episode alone i can tell something truly special is in the works for this Nostalgiaween
I love how the animation looks claymation-esque.
In theory this movie is unintentionally set in the donnie darko universe
Re: The Rod Serling impression...Walter has a three year advantage, but it was fine.
I was practically raised on this movie on Halloween. Now that I think about it, this would be a movie I would watch all year round.
That seen where he calls the house back legit freaked me out as a kid because after he dialed the phone, my mom’s cell phone rang in the other room.
It was someone else of course but it was both awesome and freaky.
I really think this film is great to introduce a older kid into the darker side of Halloween
There just feels something right knowing Nostalgiaween is back for another year to show what amazing thrills it has up in it's sleeves
My 4yo at the time wanted to watch this back to back lol she’s now 5 and asking to make a tradition lol
