    It’s difficult to follow when the charts have errors, errors like switching score between models. This isn’t the first I’ve noticed this. This a “quality control” issue that has been quite neglected in your channel.

      The charts for Black Magic's Da Vinci (RAW) have consistently been labeled "de-nosing" which, while hilarious to imagine, is also wrong. 😏
      Perhaps a useful weapon against Pennywise 🎈 though? 🤣

      @@robertleidner9703 Justo to give you one example, at 1:40. The labels are all wrong or at least 2 of them are, where it says M2 Max it should be M2 Ultra and then the price for that one is also wrong. The 2 M1 Ultras, one of them should be M1 Max (which one, I don't know). There are other examples.

Would love to see some workflow stress tests such as simultaneously transcoding raw to ProRes and working on full res 8k with denoising. I really don't understand why you don't include benches for Adobe premiere and after effects which are industry standards and the vast majority of editors are using it as their daily driver.
    Also why won't you use PUGET benches? Comparing export times is so shallow comparison. PUGET are comparing so much more: playback, gfx performance etc. It's a real shame because this channel rocks, and you are making the right product comparisons but not using the proper benchmarks 😢

    If you had a 2015 MBP then 2016 MBP not much faster. 2017 not much faster then a 2016. 2018 not much faster then a 2017. See the pattern then.

    What's going to happen when all these tests become real time, with the arrival of the M3, or certainly the M4 chips. Are we going to then try and make more demanding tests that don't reflect real world usage, like rendering imax video, or processing 10000 raw photos, or running 3000 audio channels? Already its splitting hairs on how fast these machines go 20% not mind boggling. If money no object for anyone we could all indulge in a new mac when it's released.

    Apple totally forget about music user.... the performance on Logic pro is ridiculous! How can you get less tracks with a new model! To be honest I've a macbookpro m2 and I've less powerful than my Imac intel 27" I9.... and apple tells you the opposite but in real life it's not true! Really disappointed with these new models :(

    • @Epicgamer_Mac
      @Epicgamer_Mac ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the 27” iMac had really good graphics performance with its dedicated GPU. It’s similar to the old 2019 Intel MacBook Pro 16”, and while the M2 actually has more powerful CPU performance than both the Intel MacBook and the iMac, the integrated graphics is still a bit behind the discrete GPUs of the other two. But the M2 MBP is actually not in the same product category as these two - it’s the entry level model. The M2 Pro (or Max, tho it’s overkill) MacBook Pro is the machine you should be comparing to these, because it’s in the same category and price range as these were.

    HELP! I can't find a good comparison of the base MB Pro 16 to the base Mac Studio.
    I'm using a 2019 base MBpro16 and Davinci Resolve Studio... when I try to use ai tools like magic mask, tracking of any kind, voice isolation, etc., my machine grinds to a crawl and tells me it hates me. Literally takes 2 minutes to process 6 seconds of footage just for magic mask, if it works at all. And it takes me 45 min to 1hr or more to export a 45 min 1080p 60fps video with only color grading and voice isolation applied.
    ...Is the bottleneck the GPU or the RAM?
    ...I'm torn between upgrading to a base M2 MBpro16 or a base M2 Mac Studio... I work all over the place (coffee shops, the mall, every room in my house has a desk), but I could adjust my workflow if I NEED the extra RAM and performance from the Studio.
    ...My use-case is this: fix color and audio on 45 min videos 4k or less but up to 60fps, export them, then edit them into 10 minute videos, all with color grading, magic mask, tracking, voice isolation, dialogue leveler, auto-transcription, and whatever built-in AI goodies I learn how to use...
    Is 16 GB of RAM in the base laptop not enough? Is the base M2 Pro chip in the laptop not enough? ...

      Like the previous comment states, if you need it when the M3 version comes out then go ahead and get it. Otherwise, just wait til you really do need it or like what is being offered at the time. I'm currently waiting for the M3 MBP 14inch as my old 2012 MBP is still doing okay, but it obviously shows its age and needs to be replaced soon.

      When Apple tests a computer chip, and one or several of the cores don’t work, rather than trashing it they solder off a certain number of cores and sell it at a lower price. This is then the binned model. For example, M2 Ultra: it’s supposed to have 76 GPU cores, but if a few don’t work, they’ll solder off 16 and give you the 60 GPU core variant for $1000 less.

    This video was almost worthless because you were not running a 128GB 76-core M2 in the race. The GPU cores are absolutely used by Premiere for rendering (and Resolve is also optimised) so a large, complicated clip is going to see a noticeable benefit from getting the maxed-out version. And the additional RAM can be solely used by the GPU for high-intensity tasks.

    • @mcignatz
      @mcignatz ปีที่แล้ว

      Concur! I know these videos are more aimed at what’s the better buy for the masses, but how about some love for the high end power-users? Specifically, I want a comparison of the 128GB 76-core vs a 192GB 76-core, and if the major NLEs would see a difference with the higher GPU core count.

    • @alexiskobalt7450

      @@mcignatz It's not as if The Two Stooges had no clue that people would want to see the 76-core's performance rated. The early word coming out was that the bottleneck holding back scaling had been addressed. So from a curiosity standpoint, that should have been their priority. Anyway...my 192/76 arrives in two weeks so will do my own tests vs my 64/48 M1. If no one else posts useful tests, I might have to make my own video! (As for the difference between the 128 and 192 configurations, there will be a quick answer if I never see memory usage going beyond 128GB during a heavy render, even if PP has been allotted, say 172GB.)

      @@mcignatz Have had the M2 Ultra Studio for a few days now. It's SO noticeably faster than my M1 Ultra Studio that it was pointless to do side-by-side tests. Premiere grabs 168GB of RAM and that's fine most of the time. Based on the usage, one can get away with 128GB. On an average 4K timeline render with Lumetri, Lighting Effects, Samurai and Film Convert Nitrate, PP uses 108GB. So I'm glad to have the bonus 64GB so I don't have to keep an eye on the memory. A luxury, not necessity. The 76 cores makes a huge difference as renders fly by in handfuls of seconds. (As long as "Render in Maximum Resolution" is disabled due to a bug which prevents ALL cores and GPU from being used.) The GPU is so powerful that for using Neat Video's Noiseware, just the GPU alone provides 6 fps. Adding ALL cores to that only inches it to 6.01 fps.
