Your quality of video keeps on getting better and so is your tennis. When you started your road to 1 ATP points I was sceptical on how you were going to manage TH-cam and tennis. But you have been brilliant and I really enjoy watching your journey.
Jerry's obviously a really nice guy to take time out of his day to hit with you. I'm looking forward to seeing him and Zhizhen Zhang in the top 50 by the end of the year.
The level from Jerry on the tie-breaker was just another level. Each shot was pounding at Felix. APT top 100 level. Great job hanging in there. You did well Felix.
Felix, your channel helps me a lot as a casual player! love how you think and narrates. Please keep up the good work. looking forward to watch you in the grand slams. started watching you since 10k subs
rewatched this classic after Jerry swatted Shelton 3rd time out of 3 tries, just incredible talent, feel and athleticism. Awesome awesome vid bringing out the personality - he's like a machine out there, glad to know thats not all there is to him
It is amazing at this level how close the players are to each other. From making a million a year to barely surviving is discernable, but not as much as I thought before you started the journey.
@@TopNic21yeah and not only tennis, in every sport like football for example, the small details make the difference, even the weakest pro player of any big league is levels above an average player and that really says a lot about how skilled they are
Jerry wasn't going full out though for most of the practice. You can see what happened in the tiebreak, the spread was huge. I'm sure if they played a match in a real atp tournament, the score wouldn't even be close.
That was some high-quality stuff!! And yep, that ball at 0:4 was out I think, good call. Jerry hits the ball really effortlessly, I am excited to see what he will be up to in the years to come. And maybe you'll be able to face him again in an ATP-tournament in a couple of years!
Ballstriking stood out. World class. Felix had a good level though. You can see that at the top level, to beat a guy like that you not only have to have weapons, but you have to have the confidence and consistency to be able to use them all set long…
Nice kid. It's amazing to see the number of gears these pro tennis players have. Shang probably just used the first few gears playing the games, then another gear during the tiebreak. When playing in the pro tours, he uses another set of gears. 😂
"For me I don't think about [the money] too much. I enjoy playing." Happy to see a rising talent focused on a path and enjoying the process. Thanks Felix for sharing this and keep up the great work.
No one questions your ball striking ability. I feel your intensity stiffens your movement, court coverage and shot selection. Breathe well, strike smooth/cleaner, move lighter and get oxygen into your brain. I always enjoy your uploads and battles. Cheers and continued success!
It’s crazy to see how he just switched up his game in the tie breaker. U can tell he was not putting his all in the first set, crazy high level tennis 👏
I am 11 and I want to be a pro tennis player when I am older watching you do what you do is really inspirational and makes me realise that going pro is actually possible. Thank you so much and you are the best!
Have you ever listened to the audiobook The Inner Game of Tennis. I really liked it just as kind of a tool for high pressure situations. It’s a simple thesis, but it works.
Wow you are improving so much man! Jerry is no joke of a player and you did well. The quality of your TH-cam page is so good for tennis.... Was just wondering why we could not see the swing vision stats on the screen like speed ? placement? etc... Awesome stuff
I saw Jerry practice and play in the 1st rd at AO and he's so impressive and smooth. You mentioned at the beginning drills that you were working pretty hard and for Jerry it was more like a warmup and he had efficiency. Is it early ball recognition that makes it look effortless?...Great content and thank you!
I liked how well Jerry returned serve; not counting the ace, it seemed like he neutralized nearly every serve w/ a deep return. He also rarely gives up a short ball when playing defense. Line call at 4-0 was tough; I could see how he thought he won it.
You it's at this level, its the movement around the court reading the shots that matters. You got this bro! Imaging at 19 only about 100 people can beat you in Tennis, insane.
Jerry come from a rich sport family , his father is a famous ex chinese football player , his mother is a famous ex chinese tabletennis player, so money is not a issue for him.
Good stuff Felix. It's cool to see you can hang with the top players rn. It would be interesting to see how long you could maintain that level compared to Jerry especially since he seemed so nonchalant during those drills. Great video👍
actually there is a frame where it does look like its out but the one before looks like its in... given the context and delay call it kinda goes without saying
When you're interviewing players, try to let them do all the talking. Sometimes you're kind of talking over or even interrupting Jerry here, lol Fun video, nonetheless
I've noticed Shang lately. Although he is ranked outside the top 100, he seems to qualify for every grand slam event and usually gets to at least round 3. His future looks bright..
Hey Félix. Great work, love watching you improve. Observation from watching your matches and hearing your commentary. You're clearly determined to be an aggressive player and go for your shots but against some.of these higher ranked guys you find yourself scrambling around side to side in defence. I've noticed that you still hit a relatively hard and flat-ish ball when on defense, but maybe developing a loopier more neutral defensive shot will give you the time to get back to the middle and bid your time for the right ball to be aggressive on. When you hit so hard on defence you're narrowing your recovery window and giving the attacking player a nice amount of pace to redirect with. Look at that Medvedev's deep curled midpace backhand that is so hard for the attacking player to do anything with....sure sometimes they'll still win the point but you'll waste less energy and have more energy for taking on the right balls...
You said it. It looks easy for him and you are working so hard. Man, you are such a good player but need to play a bit smoother instead of rushing everything. Looking forward to following your journey, keep up the progress
too many short balls Felix, so incorporate more variation in your shot selection especially when you are on the defensive. That and slower reactions, keep working on agility drills and reaction drills, keep things fresh so you will see visible results and boost your confidence. You are working well on the other aspects. the rest of the aspects of your game seem to be coming along well. keep going mate. remember small steps to big leaps. God bless.
I think ending Shang's partnership with Marcelo Rios is a big mistake made by his father. Rios is also lefty and short in height, his topspin technique and style would've helped so much on covering Shang's disadvantage of height. Of course, who knows how much Shang would've achieved if Rios was still there.
Wow you played great. You have come a long way. Your depth was excellent. Now think you are playing him next time you play your next tournament. You should double your money in future 😂😂😂😂 Great vid 👍👍👍👍👍
I'm just curious, as however small they may be, a sparring against you will benefit you both. But seeing he's way above you in ranking, do you pay him or does he have another incentive playing you? Genuinely curious how that works (a lower ranked asking for a spar to higher ranked) that's all.
100+ vids later 80% of your shots land just after service line, why not lower 2-3 lbs or use Sinner stick or Blade UL v9 16x19 w/ Dunlop PJ:) ? your launch angle is crazy low hitting net more often than out from @4:08 you win cause you hit so short Jerry is not used to it.

The most notable thing about Jerry Shang is not only his talent and skill, but also the incredible tan line on his wrist!

Beating Tiafoe in straight sets keeping you big as hell

@@huntnoShang did in Hong Kong
It's interesting how some pros can just seemingly "flip the switch" like Jerry did in the tiebreak
it's a friendly he only took out his real shots in tiebreaker
Djokoswitch is the most notorious one
He was playing with his food at the start.
@@taoshu888 And the only reason he was not bageled in the tiebreak because Jerry was the bigger man and gave that point to Felix. Can't stand him.

First Time I saw Jerry. Really impressed. All lefty strengths but seemingly no typical weakness, at least here. You did well and will learn.

He's only made 700k lifetime, but I agree with your point about the level. It shows how much the little things matter in high level tennis.
