    All of Ryan's power and torque was derived from the ground up. Such a heavy ball on that fast high bouncing California court. But he was requiring so much from his legs that I wondered if that could be sustained for grand slam five setters. Every shot was maximum physical output. Nothing smooth, relaxed, or "not demanding." His serve was ridiculously good, flat or kick, just two completely different balls and the pronation snap on the flat looked like a Major League Baseball pitcher. Just amazing. But still somewhat physically demanding in his trophy position which also requires a lot of physical output. I think If Ryan finds a way to have more "relaxed" and free muscular tension while maintaining that level of urgency he will be an absolute menace.

      Ryan’s use of opposite force and elastic energy is an example. He might look tensed at time but there is minimum muscle strain… on the other hand Felix’ serve for example is all about the arm no legs into it which will probably lead to injury on his arm. He also seems lost on the court without knowing what to do… 😕

      @@matiolylax1513 Agreed on the elastic tension aspect, but during the loading process on the groundstrokes (particularly the forehand), he is requiring much more muscle output than say sinner or even alcarez, who is very aggressive. Compare Ryan verses any of the top 10 or even 100 and the difference is drastic. But I will say this, it will be easier for Ryan to evolve to that from a person with no ability to summon that kind of energy and racquet head speed at all. I still think his trophy position is somewhat too demanding, but to your point, when he comes out of it he is getting a huge elastic release and his arm is completely loose and a whip. The result is impressive.

    Tennis is such an interesting sport. No offense to Abhishek, but his tennis looks so unspectacular, but obviously is on a high level. Just great to see that tennis has so many ways to be played on high level.

      @@colesmith7509 He’s an 11.xx on UTR, meaning he isn’t considered a professional. He played for St. Mary’s of CA. That’s the only team I got to play an official match against in College. Our #10 player and myself, #12, beat their #2 doubles team 1&2. That was many years ago.

    Hey Felix, I'm really glad you mentioned the mental aspect of the game. you DO have all the physical tools! I myself am a club level player with many tournament wins, but no huge weapons but mentally pretty strong. It's a big deal!

    Felix, your journey has been so amazing and such an encouragement to players of all levels to understand what it takes to move up the ranks in tennis (or in life).
    You've shown that you can learn more from losses than wins and have stayed positive while moving through the process, and the wins and progress have come. And, you've reset your goals when you've accomplished them for something higher. Just good on you, mate.
    I'm not a fan of tattoos, but I love what Stan Wahrinka has on his arm, "Ever tried. Ever failed. No Matter. Try Again. Fail Again. Fail Better."
    This mindset, which you have, is so imperative.
    I'm also reminded of this quote from Teddy Roosevelt:
    "It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."
    You are crushing these maxims and the best you is still to come, on the other side of the effort you're putting out every day.
    Tough match against, Ryan. His college honed game was perfectly suited for the fast high bouncing California courts. You'll get used to that much torque and speed on the ball the more you play against players like him and on courts like those.

    Damn, that first match was CLEAN. And yea, I can see the hesitance and lack of "killer instinct" like you said in the second match. It looked a bit like you were hitting it right to him like in a drill. Which I know works many times, but the second you gave me a comfy rally ball, he took control. Not much you can do when he's hitting 80% first serves though lol.

    Felix, if you're not working on hitting the ball on it's highest point or as it's about to reach its highest point, that would be my recommendation. You're an aggressive baseliner but you're giving the opponent extra time when you allow the ball to drop after it reached its highest point. Love the videos keep up the good work and hope to see you break top 1000 soon!!

    I am 15 years old who is dreaming on becoming a pro tennis player. But I know that it might never happen as I live in a country where there aren't many tennis facilities and I rarely played in matches as my schedule with academics is holding me back. In addition I am not very fit although I am working on improving on my physical fitness with whatever little free time I have. I honestly don't know why am I writing this long of a text maybe for advice? All I want to say is Felix u are an inspiration and I hope u continue to strive for greatness.

    I remember when my high school would go up against Ryan's high school. We had a solid #1 singles that was arguably the best tennis player our high school ever produced. Ryan came in as a freshman and destroyed him his senior year.

    You get a huge improvement when you cut out caffeine. It messes up your sleep and you have a bad recovery. You should listen to Matthew Walker's book Why We Sleep.

    Ryan is ready for the pros. He's trained himself to the point that he NATURALLY makes just enough irritating noise so as to distract his opponents and get on their nerves while not distracting himself and "barely" avoiding it being a hindrance call. And knows exactly when to throw "just enough" of a temper-tantrum so as to make umpires and line calls subconsciously hesitant to call him. That's half the battle.

    hey Felix. long time. good improvement buddy. keep working on your consistency. remember to tell yourself to keep varying your shot depth (you will put more pressure on the opponent, allowing yourself some breathing time, defense becoming offense). Also tell yourself to NOT get into the pace set by your opponent (second opponent). Be sure to constantly train your reaction drills (with match setting like the ball going deep on your forehand, with a slight delay and try to get to the ball, trains your knees to withstand the rigors of such momentum). train your body to keep pace with your actual game pace so avoid joint pains). Keep up the good work. Keep learning. God bless.🙏

    As a tennis player myself, and watching your second match ,you were going for winners pretty early in the rally, you needed to stay in the rally and grind...he style of play was very physical,you might have got a chance in the second set with him tiring somewhat and God knows what would have happened in the third set... sometimes deep chip returns ala Federer and Evans on his heavy first serves also works and throws opponents of their rhythm....good match nonetheless,keep working hard and u will get your success in future...

    When you play a high level mover and passer, it is difficult to consistently win the dynamic when trying to approach from near baseline
    Djokovic stopped doing this to eliminate one of the dynamics that Nadal had advantage in their early encounters

    Great stuff. College players are tough, they love to grind, they are always fired up and of course, they love the hard courts. Keep fighting and you'll find a way to break through. Your athleticism, foot speed, and technique are good enough for the top 1000 if not top 500. Keep hitting out on that forehand as it is a weapon. Not sure how you served or how you returned...maybe continue to stay aggressive on that return. Thanks again for the awesome content.

    Keep grinding Felix, love the content. Have you ever thought about going for a higher first serve percentage and sacrificing a few MPHs? Bc you seem to back up your serve well and seems to give you a high percentage of points won. And I would think you should be more aggressive with your return early in the set and when you already have a break.

    What are your opinion on these 3rd set match tiebreaks Felix?
    I understand the structure of the tournament and the fact they need to schedule it all within a certain time frame but do you prefer this? Faster match? More energy for the next day?
