Id reccomend the Astro A50s. I had the wireless pro and they were good but comfort wise they were B grade at best. Sold it.
@@SharrodVisuals a50's don't really fit well for medium to large ears tho, the ear pads are extremely small, so not the most comfortable headphones

I had this exact problem lately. I chose the wireless in the end because wires annoy me like crazy :D although the sound of the wired one is really insane.
But what is really really good about the wireless version is the bluetooth. I can connect them to my work laptop for meetings easily without ever have to plug in the base station. This is such a nice feature and really more wireless headsets should bring this comfort. If one of you ever has the same problem, just use this headset. It is so nice
Do you know if the wireless pro can connect to a laptop through a 3.5 mm jack? If yes, will the mic still work? I would like to use them in my work laptop while pairing my phone through the Bluetooth, but want to be sure if it is possible

I bought the Arctis 1 after your review - I like them for my switch, but my ears do touch the drivers. I wanted something for my computer (mainly gaming) and kept coming back to your reviews - I almost bought the wired version because you said they had better bass, but in many of your responses to comments you said the Arctis pro is what you use for gaming - I just bought them. I seem to be using your reviews as the deciding factor - Keep up the good work!
Turns out that the Arctis pro dock unit does not do what I wanted. I have my computer through usb and my monitor (with hdmi running my switch and ps4). I wanted to use the usb for pc and the line in for the line out of my monitor. I wanted to be able to use the line out to run my monitor to my speaker system (consoles to speakers when not using the headset). This does not work - the line out only works when in pc mode through usb. The optical line in and aux line in only work for headset output and do not go through line out when the headset is not in use. It is too bad - the search continues.
The wireless are a great option. If you're having poor sound issues, your EQ settings are not setup correctly. Mine sound awesome on my PS4 and they sound better (clearer and louder) than my Sony WH-XB900N's. I also prefer the wireless because it connects to everything (including my Xbox One). The wired is also good, but the short cables really limit how far you can sit from your device.
What eq would you recommend then?

Bluetooth is the deciding factor for me.. Seems a lot of people use it for their phones, but I use it for my PC. I can't see not having that functionality. I'm always looking up TH-cam videos or listening to music while I'm gaming. And as some of the lucky few have noticed with the PS5, it doesn't even have a web browser anymore. I know a lot of people have no issue sitting their phone in front of them and watching/listening to w.e on that, but I prefer the speed, screen-size, and quality of the desktop PC.
And being able to listen to both as the same time, is a function that I can't live without (since having access to it on the TB stealth 700 headsets (great budget headsets if you don't mind one that's got an annoying mandatory 5 minute auto-off feature, short battery life, garbage garbled sound at random which can take up to 20ish mins to fix.. and having a headset that's disposable.. I've literally gone through two in under two years.. They both just stopped turning on )).
Love the review, one question. In the pro wireless review you said you always leave the 7.1 enabled and in this one you said “don’t be messin with that fake 7.1 surround”...?

My glorious Sennheiser HD 215 II is dying on me, or to be more precise, the plastic is not holding up anymore. I was unsure what to buy until this video cleared my head. Now I hope that the second hand wired headset I bought for half the price won't be a total scam :D I could have gone with the 7 but I'm plugging the headset straight to the monitor losing the hi-rez from the PC (that sits too far and is unconfortable to reach with a cable), that's why I was sold on the DAC. Great info man! Keep up the good work :)
Amazing reviews! I love your channel. I got my son the Arctis 3's wired for Xbox. I liked the look of them and then grabbed the Arctis 7's for myself. Overall sound quality not super impressive. I wish they were a bit more punchy for music or watching movies. I may upgrade to the Pro's after watching this review. Then I'll give the 7's to my father in law for his setup. Like someone already mentioned, I also bought the Arctis 1 after seeing your reviews :) Could you do a comparison between the budget Arctis 1 vs. these top of the line Pro models? While the Arctis 1 is a great budget headset, I know for a fact it sounds exactly like that, a budget kit.. I've been thinking about making the upgrade to the Pro wired, but I am wondering how much better it will really be in terms of sound quality/definition. Mainly for gaming but also for casual music/video streaming. Thank you!

I could not be more pleased with them. I was using hyperX cloud 2 and the difference to me is night and day. Games come alive. I hear things I never heard with prior headsets. Very pricey but if you can afford them they are 100 percent worth the money. Also the ability to swap batteries is the best thing ever. Not even two minutes of down time and your good for another 10+ hours no problem.

Do you think I should get the wireless ones over the wired one? I have arctis 3s rn and the sound is fine on them, nothing crazy. But the cable kinda annoys me. Im wondering if its worth picking the wireless instead of the wierd eventhough it is said that the wired one sounds much better.

@@DatGuyArad I think you should go with the wired ones instead since the wireless one have a hiss issue that could bother you and the sound quality is really the same except the wired one imo might be the better option
Hello @The Techne, I am currently using an Arctis 7 which I feel like it is missing missing sound details noticeably in Warzone. I am currently able to get my hands onto a set of Arctis Pro + Gamedac or a set of Arctis Pro Wireless. My priority is getting the best sound and directionnal information, the main reason that leads me to these two headsets is their respective DAC.
I don't like wired because is less convenient but that is still something I can pass on as a criteria. In your experience on both sets, would you recommend the Wired or the Wireless one ?

For high res to really work the game or music file you are listening to needs to be mastered in 96khz 32 bit and 99% of games are only mastered in 48khz 24 bit and amusic cd is only 16 bit 44.1 khz.
What I'm saying is that you'll need to get hold of the original wave files from the studio to actually enjoy the Wired pro headset for real and if you are not in the business you will never actually hear waves files that are recorded in 96khz 32 bit, not in a million years.
Fair warning to all who think that upscaling 44.1 to 96khz is the same as listening to native, it's not.

Does the Hi-Res make a difference in most games or only specific games? My highest priority is sound quality.
I’d go for a stand-alone+desktop mic then if u genuinely want good audio quality. These are convenient(wireless) with okay sound quality.

Great vid, I just have 3 quick questions about the Arctis Pro Wireless. 1.) How long is the battery life of when in the headset? 2.) How long is the life span of the batteries, (because the more you charge a battery the life span goes down. And lastly can you use the Wireless on a Audio mixer?

Great video, you have inspired me to get the steelseries arctics pro wireless. This is my first steelseries headset, coming from the turtle beach stealth 700 gen2, I so excited and judging from the videos I’ve watched you make on the headset Ik I made a great choice and I thank you very much. I have a question for you, what wire do you use to connect to the steelseries engine, so I can update the fireware as soon as I get them? I already have the engine ready to go on my pc.
So, if you could get the wired for $150 or the wireless for $230, which would you go for? I'm curious which way other people would go. Long story short, I have a $100 off deal and I've already made my choice, but I can't help but wonder what other people would chose.

Hi Techne, first things first, your videos are absolutely amazing mate. Keep up the good work. I watch all your videos even though I’m not in the market for 99% of it! Secondly, I’m having major issues with deciding on my headset and wondered if you could help. I recently purchased the wireless pro and returned them as I didn’t want to be messing about with EQ settings and seemed to have issues getting game sound and party/mic working together. . I then purchased the 7’s only to realise chat/game mix doesn’t work on PS4 (this is the only platform I use). What’s your thoughts on the wireless pro being future proof? For example when the PS5 comes out. Don’t worry, I won’t hold you to anything! Also once you found your EQ settings on the wireless have you not tinkered anymore? I don’t want to have to mess around but I want SteelSeries so I’m pretty tied to these two headsets and the wired version has even more settings! Apologies for the long comment!

So as far as future proof, I honestly have no idea. But my guess would be yes, sony and microsoft would get a bad rep to just flush all the past products down the water. Now on the other hand all these companies will also bank on the new console branding as well and probably launch a bunch of new products.
But I really really love the Artcis Pro Wireless, I actually have them on right now and use them daily.
On the EQ I don't adjust mine anymore, I use to mess with it a bunch, but now I'm happy with what I have the dialed in at.

I’ve read a few comments saying to have the audio output to headphones set to all audio as appears to chat, as it makes the headphones sound better? But if you do this would you lose the ability to adjust chatmix? Sorry if these questions sound stupid but it’s an absolute minefield all of this to me. Also do I remember rightly that you say to have surround sound off on PS4? Thanks again for replying Techne, it’s greatly appreciated.

i was a bit scared that the wired will have worse sound quality because i saw NO ONE speaking about them now i know that in fact they have higher quality sound

Hey Techne! New to your channel and love the video! I just got the Arctis Pro Wireless based on your review but I am noticing a faint hissing sound that won't go away no matter what I do. Is this normal? Is there any way I can fix this or should I just get the wired version?

Im havn same issue just gonna return and get the wired version.
This is normal and some days it annoys me more than others.
You MUST have volume limiter ON otherwise it's massively loud (the white noise hissing).
Also make sure your sidetone for your mic is right down to off (where you can hear yourself speak through your headset).
Nothing you can do except live with it. It's a common trait of wireless headsets BUT seems to be the worst of the ones I've tried. But I'm living with mine because the sound and convenience is really good.
Oh and also turn your windows volume to 100% and turn your volume on your headset down, helps a bit.

Should I go for the Arctis Pro wired or the Arctis SteeSeries 7 (2019). I've seen some people say the 7s had OK mics at best. Just want a good mic.
I have Arctis 7 and my friends told me my mic is clearer than everyone else they've heard. I'm here to upgrade to the 9's bc i cracked my ear piece and I need wireless for work meetings also.
Great review. I have a question, I've noticed many people said that the wired ones sound better, but is it because of how it's made or is it just because of the Bluetooth feature? If the second option is the case, then couldn't I just plug in my wireless and hear the headphones exactly like the wired ones? (assuming the EQ settings and etc. are all the same). My second question is, can you just play with the wireless headphones with a cable and not use your battery at all? or do you need to use the battery all the time when using them?

no the wired ones dont just connect by 3.5, now yes the wired do sound better, not a massive amount, but noticeable. I actually use the wireless pro's my daily headset

I’m looking for a high end headset for my PS4, I think I will go with Artics Pro(unless you recommend something better). So the High Res doesn’t work on a PS4, which is a bummer. But without that, is the sound quality still the same as the wireless or still better? Would you go wired or wireless for a PS4? I’m undecided.
the wired still sound a bit better with the dac on ps4. but not night and day. I actually use the wireless as my daily headset

I bought both a Razer and Arctis headset. Was not impressed by the Arctis. The razers just felt more comfortable and better noise cancelation and more bass. I didn't like that the headphones moved around on the Artics it got annoying. Thats just me tho🤷🏽♂️
this really helped out. great review. i do have a question since you are a fellow warzone player. i have had the wireless headset for months now and love the overall sound, but in warzone the mapping is terrible. i cant tell what sounds are coming from which direction. i plug in a much cheaper headset that i started with and suddenly its a whole new game for me. any input on this? i have reached out to support and still no real resolve. wondering if i should just chalk it up to the difference between wired and wireless headsets. let me know if you get a chance! thank you

Got the wired version with DAC 2 days ago. I'm blown away with this. First game in cod warzone I got 5 kills. I got them from knowing exactly where the enemy was 1on 4. So I thought woot this is decent. So i move on to the hi res audio option on dac. I can't stress enough how impressed I am with this. Are they as good as a £500 B&O , sennheiser or Boss build for hd music? No they are not. But my goodness they come in the ball park. These are high enough quality that I have to question if its main function is 24bit hd music or gaming. This headset does everything it claims. Sitting listening to some lossless 24bit 96khz guns n roses and its really really good. I then moved on to hip hop at the same quality. Again very impressed. I Highely recommend the wired with dac version if you can get it under £200. This headset is now being used for gaming and music at my desk.
Hey does the chatmix function work in game? Like at the beginning on the damn plane, can I turn the dial a the way to chat and still hear my teammates in game but also mute the loud ass plane? Or does this only work if you use an external program like discord?

I'm in the market for my first decent headset, and I'm very interesed in the Arctis Pro Wired. This may be a dumb question, but are there any headsets on the market around this quality that are a hybrid of BOTH? WIRED for gaming, less latency, higher quality direct feed for the mic to bypass bluetooth, OR WIRELESS for just music streaming or doing other things in the room while I have them on?
If I'm not mistaken, or too late, I'm pretty sure the arctis 3 Bluetooths are exactly what you're looking for. Only 100 bucks, wired gaming, with simultaneous wireless Bluetooth.

I have the wired without the gamedac and to be honest if you have a PC with software such as voicemeter potato you dont need the gamedac because you can adjust sound through software on your PC.
On the wireless version, does the chat mix and side tone features on the transmitter station work well with PS4? ** Note that the wired headset is aimed at PC users as the chat mix doesn't work on the DAC with PS4. The knob will just work as a volume adjuster **
