    There's nothing I love more than this served with some steaming hot rice.
    Comfort food 101 right there!

      Yes!!!! And it has to be simple steamed white rice for me! No fancy fried rice or brown rice. Ultimate comfort food with white rice 😋😋😋

    The most under rated vietnamese dish ever. All these people just talking about all the soup dishes like Pho and Hu Tieu stuff but this dish is by far the most tasty imo

      Cuz western pp always complain about the fishy taste of catfish, the dish is kinda hard to cook though.

      Well westerners are not used to Vietnamese food that much do to most of the food having fish sauce in them. I live in America and besides Southern California, part of New Orleans and houston that you can find good vietnamese food.

      This dish is very rare to find in restaurant. Houston and LA is where I have found it most often. It takes a little time to make it tasty so restaurants usually don't want to offer this dish. To help with fishy taste or smell, I clean my fish with salt and vinegar and sometimes even baking soda.

    Made this recipe and it was delicious. My mom makes this all the time but I’m halfway cross country. Easy and simple to follow recipe. Made it with Catfish fillets but still turned out bomb.

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can. But make sure to use a fish that has a high fat content otherwise it will totally dry out during the cooking process.

      for certain types of fish with hard flesh such as tuna. You should add pineapple to the recipe. It will be good

    How much is the boiling water?

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't add too much boiling water. Maybe a few tablespoons Otherwise the sauce / flavor gets very dilluted.

  • @queenofthorns4053

    Is there an alternative for fish sauce? I just can’t take the smell of fish sauce.

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha. You funny. I totally understand. If you are not used to it, it’s a very strong smell. Hard to replace fish sauce but fry soy sauce. The flavor profile will
      Be different but if you like soy sauce it still be good! Let me know how it goes 😘

      Try using vegetarian fish sauce if you can find it in your area. It has a lighter scent.

    Can I use sheepshead for this?

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Sheepshead would be great as well. Sheepshead is a little less fatty than Catfish so keep an eye on it so it doesn’t dry out too much. Maybe shorten the cook time a bit.

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, my family likes it with more fish sauce too. But my white husband likes it on the lighter side. The beautiful thing about this recipe is that you can make it your own by varying the amount of sugar or fish sauce. Thank, sweetie.
