    Still waiting for a reviewer in Australia that understands the drive train in this vehical. The Sharks been selling in Mexico for months already, US reviews are in private owned vehicles on public roads. This is a series hybrid, not parallel. When the gas motors not running its two electric motors combined are 450hp, when the gas motor runs the generator it’s still 430hp. The drive is one speed transaxle electric motor at each end.

    • @zechssiguro7476
      @zechssiguro7476 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I Agree! I'm still waiting for a clear explanation of what happens with the Shark if the battery is low & I have topped up the gas tank full? will I be able to drive in any of the modes, or will I still be limited to the low battery power only, UNLESS.. I drive at 70mph or Above... to activate the "Hybrid system, & engage the gas ICE engine into the fight?....I still want that simply cleared up.
      basic question, can I go gas only & recharge battery when battery is low & I've topped the gas to full? Until the battery gets some good juice, then can I use a less gass intensive mode? that's what I'd love to know about the Shark6 to cure my range anxiety....

    Interesting price point considering the features, knowing Ford and their joke pricing of the Ranger and the PHEV, knowing Ford would want to price it at $150k and the handful of dopes that would pay that, it just might bring a bit of respectability to the pricing in this market segment.

    Can the BYD Shark do a 360 turn in the one spot?

  • @miraphycs7377
    @miraphycs7377 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    In Mexico shark has a starting price for $53K equivalent for a midsize which is honestly a lot higher than I expected. I expected something in the $35K or at most mid $40K range (starting price of a Tacoma hybrid). Remember in Mexico a base Hilux starts at $20K equivalent while crew cab with diesel start at $30K or so BYD is twice as much
    Yet its towing and payload a lot less, no solid axle means it is never gonna be as off-road capable. It uses e-CVT rather than traditional torque converter automatic. Its 30kwh or so battery is stored not in the interior like the Wrangler 4XE or TNGA-F product but outside underneath the cab. So repairing and replacing on that battery will take longer and cost more money. Some of the biggest problem of the BYD DMO platform.
    This is not the game changer that some people hyped up to be

    One question: payload: I believe the figure ways 780kg. What is this related too or the associated specs? Meaning , does this in,use a full taken of 98 premium, 70lr (let’s say 70kg). Then adding 4 ppl @ 100kg each. So this would mean a loss of 470kg of the payload of 780kg, leaving 310 kg if I can add up. That would be my limited basic tool set, not including any materials. Hmmmm…. Definitely not a work vehicle. Payload would ned o increase by 100-150kg at a minimum.
    I do like the idea of it though. Just needs further development and adjustments to suit different needs , beside soccer mums…🤣

    The key fail of BYD's Shark can't be idenfified in a short review - durability. Chinese customers have had this vehicle and found it to be inadequate for any long term heavy use. Search TH-cam. The steel used for the undercarraige is poor and incapable of standing heavy use for any significant time. It may be fine if you want a very light use truck for paved roads; but not as a work truck; not as a off road vehicle and that is what BYD often tries to sell it as. If you use it heavily; expect it to be a piece of junk as critical components break - and replacing them with more junk won't help.

One video shows a mechanic bend and break the steel with a wrench. Horrid.

    The vehicle might be very good but the presenter be seems to have this inability to realise that they cannot act. They can’t act because they’re a car presenter. They can’t act because they too much much where you have to think of what you’re saying and how to dramatically present itwithout edits because they’re hard for somebody to do and it makes fun. Well I’m more costly production but a slick production I’m just sorry that this vehicle suffers from the lack of production from the presenting journalist and the costuming seems like it’s from Toys “R” Us.
