Ecoflow is a trash company. I bought the delta pro with the Smart Generator. Had to replace Generator 5 times in 1 yr. And 3 times with the Delta Pro. They would not give me all my money back. Don't buy from ecoflow.
Have to agree. I tought they are premium, but my friend got many products from them, battery packs to air conditioner and many of them broke under a year. Price does not match to the quality at all in my opinion. They also have had weird hiccups related to software. No go for me.
Been running my whole house on Ecoflow DPU's and Smart Panel. Installed Jan '24. Without any solar. Charge free at nights plan. My avg monthly electric bill is $7. I'm loving it and my ROI is less than 8yrs. Went with this system cuz of the plug N play factor. Started with 12kw, now at 60kw.

Looking at $6,500 for system and solar panels. My 48 volt EG4 all in one Will Prowse designed hand truck system from Signature Solar was $3,300 with free delivery. I am happy with my system and its price. Thanks Will. Happy happy at my off grid cabin.
I considered a Delta Pro Ultra, but decided to go with a 6000XP and an EG4 indoor wall mount battery instead. Way more solar and battery capacity for less money. I have since added a second wall mount battery so I have more storage capacity. A lot of what I've learned about these have come from your videos! Thanks Will!
I am facing this choice next season for an off-grid facility in a remote location. One of the main reasons I am considering the DPU is that everything I have read indicates that it is extremely quiet during normal operations, which is a critical requirement for my users. I have been given the impression from various reviews that the 6000XP is quite noisy compared to the DPU's inverter, but I have never seen anybody do a comprehensive review of the actual, measured noise levels among these products, so I am not sure how to reach a conclusion. I think this is a real gap in the product review world, especially when it comes to off-grid and portable products.
@@josephkeene6670 When you have high amounts of solar or high kw draw (4000-6000kw), the 6000XP will spin up the fans. Ours is in the basement so upstair you can't hear it, but I wouldn't want to work in the same room. Low solar or low draw, it's very quiet. I've left the fans on auto, but you can manually set the fan speeds, although I don't think that's recomended.
@@WillProwse Will can you open up the inverter as well. I want to know if its using old school FETS for output devices or is it using newer technology IGBTs. IGBTs handle surges so much better than FETS. They are more expensive than FETS but are alot more reliable and well suited for inverter duty. I wish all inverters used these devices instead of numerous FETs. I am curious what output devices EG4, SOL-ARK and Hydrolis use. It would be a big help in the future if you can mention what type output devices FETs or IGBTs are used in your future inverter reviews. Love your videos. Thanks.
Ecoflow is NOT a trash company! I am running two DPUs (4 stacked 6kw batteries each) with two solar arrays for my off-grid home! You missed the generator adapter (4 prongs). You can charge with the solar array + generator. Correct, you must use a tool to remove the PV connectors. You can use up to three of these and their Home Panel 2 for a total of 21kw AC and 90kw storage (stacked). The app runs flawlessly on Bluetooth. The batteries, with ecoflow eco-credits and sales, are down to $1,800. It is not dangerous stacked if you use the adapters for a flat floor mount - the connectors lock them together, and ecoflow sells wall mount stationery connectors.
I got this thing for $2800 as a price mistake from Home Depot a few months ago. I like how I can power my 220v well pump in a power outtage and keep it topped off with a tiny efficient 120v generator.
I bought the DPU a year ago. I needed a transportable (I take it to a simple cabin for spring, summer and fall then home for winter), high pv input and the next reason for me was the batteries have internal heaters so they don't freeze during early spring and fall when temp can drop below freezing (I only heat my cabin when I am there). I have had several Ecoflow products and some have issues and some have run like champs. Just like any product you can get a lemon. For me Ecoflow has worked with me on getting a replacement or repair for any of my units. I don't like that their customer service does not seem to have a location in the USA so email is the better form of communication. Price is high but I have noticed they do some big sales so keep an eye out, just don't get confused with the word "sale" pay attention to price they always have a "sale" going on. I have seen authorized dealers with 1 inverter and 1 battery as low as $4049.
Same here; I bought the DPU back in June, has been running like a champ. Absolutely 0 issues. I had no issues with my Delta Max and Delta 2 as well. But totally agree their Customer Service is subpar....
I got mine on a crazy deal from Home Depot from their 4th of july savings. I paid $2,799 for 1 inverter + 1 battery. Needless to say that deal was up for about 30 minutes. 2 months later I bought a refurbished battery directly from Ecoflow's ebay store, and that was $1,799. I've been charging EV almost daily with this thing and it worked great so far. Retail price is pretty steep, but if you have patience and do your research, you can get this beast for a much better price than the Jackery. Thank you for your video!
@@WillProwse I had a deal alert set for the Delta pro ultra on slickdeals and once I saw the notification pop up I was in and out homedepot buying process in less than a minute haha There were about 200 units in that campaign, but I’m pretty sure it was a price mistake on behalf of home depot. I didn’t expect to actually ship, but it did. I did add a 30 amp disconnect to it sicne the pv switch seemed to break every time I turned it on and off.
The low voltage input in 1600w not 1200. I have the DPU with 5 batteries and 4000w solar and absolutely love it. Powers my house through a manual transfer switch I installed and the extra goes to my hummer. In CA electricity is really expensive and the monthly savings has been just about $200 a month. Been going strong everyday for the last 10 months.
I've been running the Delta 3 plus as a UPS for my computer/router and a few other electronics in my office for a few months and love it. I just started a project where I'm installing a Delta 3 pro in my shed with solar panels to make it completely off grid. Eventually I'll probably do the Ultra + smart home panel 2 for a whole home backup.
Please review the BatteryEVO all-in-one system. The base is a 22kW battery and 12k inverter for $4849, 10 year warranty, and made in America (for what that’s worth). There are virtually no independent videos out there on them.
@WillProwse I'm not seeing how the Ecoflow DPU is more expensive than an EG4 system?? I just went to Signature Solar and put an EG4 12KV, 3 48V100AH batteries, Rack and cables in a shopping cart for a total of $8710. I went to Ecoflow and put together a DPU, charging adapter, and 3 batteries for $8797. The EG4 system has 14.4kwh vs the Ecoflow's 18kwh, and 12kw vs 7kw power, so similar systems. So, Ecoflow is very competitive! Note, I chose a 12kw EG4 over the 6000xp because 7kw is minimal for powering a big home ac unit.
Actually if you use the 120v cable on the AC charge port you can charge and discharge simultaneously. I had thought to convert the charge cable to 240v until I found out that fact.
Just to confirm, does it work with 120 V input and more than 1800W on the 240V output? If you try that, does it shut off, or make up the difference with the batteries?
Just got some comments from people thinking that the inverter does not run when it's charging from solar. That's not true it's only from AC that it does that. Most solar generators are like that actually. Unfortunately
Are you sure that is true? I plug a small 2200 watt inverter generator into this battery and charge through the ac input while the battery powers my house. I think you just can't charge from the house while you power the house because it trips gfci?
The delta2 max isnt setup that way. I have my station pluged in but set to only draw from the grid if power falls below 40% I've been running the inverter and had that kick on when I havent had enough solar and it works just fine.
I have a Ecoflow Delta Max. Had it for almost 2 years, the first one broke after 8 months. It took 3 months for Ecoflows service center to find the fault and the finaly to replace the unit. My replacement unit works fine, but I will nere buy anything form them again. Would rather build my own system with components from Victron.
I bought one of these with 3 batteries and 2 inverters and the Smart Home Panel 2 because I was extremely intimidated at the thought of building my own system with ZERO experience. Had an electrician mount the Smart Panel and I have done everything else including doing a ground mount with 12 solar panels, which I plan to expand to 24 panels shortly. This thing is almost plug and play, anything else you buy is very complicated to a newbie. Also, you can buy all this stuff for much less. I paid $5700 for the Smart Home panel 2 with one inverter and battery on a sale on Amazon and then paid $6500 from Earthtech products for another inverter with 2 batteries on a sale they had. You can easily get at least 10% off the retail price if you look just a bit which makes the price a lot more competitive.
Hey Will, i think they did a firmware update that allows you to charge/output at same time. Can you do an updated video where you showcase automatic backup without ever having to manually get involved? Also, it would be awesome to see you review their generator + solar panel install altogether.
I live in Ukraine. Because of the Russian attacks on power plants this summer, the country lived with power outage schedules, for example, 2 hours of electricity and 4 hours of no electricity. Many of my friends have Ecoflow, it is a very reliable manufacturer.
Look for the sales on the Delta Pro Ultra batteries and inverter. I just bought batteries on sale for $1,500, and they occasionally offer factory-refurbished batteries with a warranty!
8:12 the manual does say the stack is not extremely stable when loaded up, and that you should fix it to the wall if you connect 3 or more batteries. The castors are more of a “need to move it a couple feet” than “need to move it a good distance”. If you do need to move set of five batteries, use the trolley accessory. If you don’t want to be constantly stacking and unstacking them, they make an extra long connector cable as well.
I upgraded from the Delta pro with extra battery and smart generator. I absolutely love this.. I have 4 batteries my solar array only generates 1100 watts in midday sun but with the adaptor connected to my 30amp generator I can charge at 6000 watts. The unit is completely silent unlike the delta pro which has noisy fans. I’m up north in an off grid cabin. It gets cold. Too cold for most systems but the lithium batteries have a conditioner switch that warms them. This is a sleek futuristic design and after experimenting with lead acid batteries that crack when run down and frozen and noisy inverters this seems the ultimate.
Nice overview, Will. I've been working with EcoFlow on my 18Kw Ultra set up over the last 9 months. The hardware and support for components has been great. The software and support for the operating system has been challenging at best. Too many issues with the app and interface to really get the most out of the hardware, which is a shame. I knew there would be a learning curve with a new product, but the changes and upgrades to the firmware/software have been way too slow. And actually talking to someone with an engineering background at the company is nearly impossible. Two conversations in 9 months. No problem talking to customer service, but the level of expertise is laughable. But, because the hardware can run my whole home for two+ days during an outage, without any changes to my lifestyle or energy use, it's something to appreciate. Keep up the great work!!
That was a quick review, thanks for the comparison Also I can attest You can charge from 120v and use 240v out at the same time , but can not charge 240 and out 240 at the same time. Sorry for the guy that had so much issues I have not had any issues with the ecoflow company compare to other brand, I think ecoflow is very good over all and the Ultra when purchase on sale is a great buy a bit more expensive then EG4 kit but easy configuration and excellent software. DPU is now saling for 6kw $4,600 a full 30kw sells for $12,780.00 wehre w need more inofs is the automation can we program the dpu to star automatically if battery gets down to 20% exemple ? the DP3 does it but no luck findong the info on the DPU and yes you’re right Ultra short name would of been better
Fair review. I think that your final summary says it well: this is for those who have the money to afford it and want a quick and convenient solution. A server mount backup array with a generator managed using Home Assistant would cost far less in the long run but requires more work to setup and maintain, and it isn't a closed and curated ecosystem. It's like the choice between the Apple and Android ecosystems for smart phones, with Google being more like the Jackery, or the choice between Apple, Microsoft or Linux for PCs: do you want it to "just work" while being limited in certain respects at a higher cost and fewer options, do you want maximum flexibility and configurability with the responsibility to make it work yourself or something that is somewhere in between these? I can see the use for this as a option when mobile (assuming it's permanently installed in a van or the casters are replaced with a high quality base with heavy duty metal casters), but for me at this time I'll stick with the Jackery for mobile use and with a server rack battery bank and tri-fuel generator managed using Home Assistant for my home.
I have two of these with four batteries and the smart panel. I managed to take the smart panel and use it as a direct replacement for my pre-existing breaker panel. They work just fine. I was a little concerned with the heat and they can get a little noisy when the fans start. I don't use the casters.
Ihad 2 Delta Pro 3 ( DP3 ) units running in parallel with their 50 AMP hub bridge. One of the units was defective and caused a tremendous power surge which fried my HVAC thermostat and ECU, coffee maker, Air Purifier, GFCI outlets, and over a dozen outlet surge protectors and damaged 2, 200 AMP breaker panels. The damages have run into the thousands. One electrician who inspected my system told me that one of his customers had a similar problem with his EF Ultra except that he didn't have the unit hooked up to the home. I like the EF Delta 2 Max batteries, but the EF DP3 and the bridge is not good. $12,000 of damage was done.
Will, if you leverage the DPU Generator Adapter that you connect to the Side Input/Output port, you can charge the DPU at up to 7200 watts, while keeping the AC Inverter on! I am configured this way at the moment and works very well!
Costco started selling Ecoflow systems starting 2 years ago. Last year they had a deal for an 18Kw system with the home panel 2 for $9999, for the most part it's OK, 4 months after setting it up they had a firmware update, after that update and the last 2, the max high input solar will not charge over 3.5Kw, before the update it charged at 7Kw. But when solar is down when it's cloudy and we have to use a generator, it charges at 7Kw no issues. Another issue, is that the inverter fans are crap and I installed 3 120mm fans on top to help keep it cool. Their tech support is pure garbage, I found answers to my issues quicker on redit and youtube then waiting for some Indian to not help 30m+ on the phone. The great thing about Costco is their return policy, if the next firmware update doesn't fix the high input solar capped at 3.5Kw, I'm just going to return it and replace it with a real system.
That new Tesla model 3 looks clean. The delta pro is probably easier to replace the batteries out if they go bad whereas the Jackery on board battery is built inside? Still not worth the additional $1500 bucks! I’ll stick with my regular pieced together home solar. It costed a fraction of that for much more capacity.
This might impact the battery connectors and buttons, but a tow strap wrapped under the handles, across the top, and around the bottom between the castors might keep the stack together better even if stability remains poor.
Will with All your knowledge on this subject I'm thinking, you should sit down and help design the Ultimate battery setup with everything one would need for off grid applications
Costco has this with 3 batteries for 9k, 10k with the smart panel which seems like a good deal (vs their normal prices at least), believe its going to have a 1k off sale here soon as well. Honestly a pretty good deal, especially with the sale.
Thank you Will, I have this configuration on my fifth wheel full time living. Love the ease of 30amp RV plug, if I change RV's, my Ultra goes with me. I have to say, yes expensive, so was my truck and my RV, nothing good is cheap. I feel their value is reflected in their price AND customer service are worth it! Keep up the most excellent reviews and teachings as I now am starting to talk like you too my friends lol.
I've been waiting like forever for you to review this particular product!! Thanks 👍🏾 please do a load test on this and also do a load test on that Eg4 14.5kwh outdoor battery!!!😊😊😊
I understand Will's points about price but it really is easy to set up. I would love to see Will get the smart panel. Right now Ecoflow has admitted it cannot charge via the smart panel at its maximum charge *7k+) through the grid but claims they are working on it. I ran into that issue myself. And Will is 1000% right about the rolling mount. I have 2 batteries and I doubt very much it could handle more than 3 and that's if its stationary. I'm using it for whole home backup but I do have a gas generator for longer outages.
The RV port is a GREAT feature. Not all that many solar generators come with it standard. Anchor comes to mind and there are a few others. Tons of full-time RVers out here ... not to mention weekend warriors that use their RV occasionally., Love this unit. You're right ... the price is very high. It's the Cadillac.
Good review Wiil, as always. Ecoflow have built up a good reputation, whether justified or not, but it's pretty bad that they attempt lock in their own products. There are plenty of $1000 16S 100Ah LFP racks that could just be added in parallel, and getting cheaper. They should be just like Lego! I made my own portable pack using a 3kW inverter and few 48V scooter packs or a Vatrer 100Ah battery and 2 x 2kW solar controllers for a fraction of the cost. It doesn't look as good, but it does the job and can charge my EV or run house essentials or work in the field, and I made it! 🙂
Personally, once your main battery is for example 4kWh, it mean it can handle 1000watt for 4 hours. I personally think buying cheaper 48volt battery with higher capacity and use the DC Input in those to be a good idea if you dont need to draw 7000 watt all the time. So if the DC in is 500watt, and you need 1000 watt with a 4kWh battery, it mean you can add 2kWh of battery for a very low price, but it does make charging them a bit more complicated. Most likely if you get an ecoflow is for it ease of use in the first place.
Two Apollos cost more than one Ecoflow Ultra at the initial outlay but the capital cost per charge cycle for both combined is less than that of one Ecoflow. An Apollo is rated for 6000 charge cycles whereas the Ecoflow is rated for 3,800, i.e., 17 years under everyday use as opposed to 10.
From what you said (and what you didn't say), I would have assumed that it would not function as a UPS....But then, at the end, you mentioned "UPS Mode"...so apparently "yes"...in spite of that weird charging scheme.??
I think it would be interesting if you hooked up the all-in-one off grid unit, server rack battery, solar panels, and a generator. The main thing missing out of your videos for someone either living off grid or unreliable power is the generator component. Can't always get enough sunlight and batteries don't have infinite charge, but we never see a solution that can properly leverage a generator, especially a small generator that can recharge the batteries and do it automatically. EcoFlow takes a stab at it, but they seem to kind of suck at it and they charge a lot for it.
Good video, Will. It would be nice if those stackable batteries had foldup lugs on the top that disconnect when folded down and matching sockets on the bottom of the batteries and bottom of the head unit. That would allow them to plug in when stacked without needing a cable on the outside at all. It may also help with the stabilization of a stack set.
I paid 4300 for mine with the early bird discount coupon thing when they were first announced for sale. I have a total of 2 batteries. And have it connected to a transfer switch completely powering my home so I'm off grid I guess lol. I do wish they had an outside rated version though.
It's hard to believe that Jackery can't solve Will's bluetooth connection, are they braindead??? And how hard is it for them to work in the code a millisecond complete disconnect so the unit keeps working and doesn't require a manual restart for everything to work (or better yet, rework the code to make it seamless?). Thanks for keeping it real Will, I never make a decision without seeing your take on items I'm interested in.
Maybe somebody like EG4 should make an inverter like this, with all the sockets / USB / UPS right on it... but bolted to an empty rack you can slide any 48v server rack battery into. I'd be almost the same as this, except you'd need to bolt in two cables rather than plug in one, but you'd have a completely modular system, and much cheaper!
Not sure if anyone has made the connection yet but tiny homes, off grid cabins, or standalone shops could use a “portable” system that uses RV type connection, normal solar and gas/propane generator connections. If a person wanted to “winterize” a cabin and take the electrical system with them, it’s just unplug the solar the generator and load it in the truck. This is not hard…
@2:01 ..... If you charge with 120 volt input, the inverter output works simultaneously, which is what I do for AC input (I never actually even tested 240 volt input yet) ... If I'm just going to charge from line power, I don't really want to charge 'too fast' anyway, as this likely stresses the batteries unduly..... All of these 'power station' systems work most efficiently if the input is DC (solar or wind, etc)... Using line AC to charge them results in significant power loss due to the AC-to-DC and DC-to-AC conversions.... In fact, IF you are using solar panels and want to run 'off-grid', it might be best if your lighting, appliances, and equipment run on DC, not AC (you will avoid the dreaded rectification and inversion)..... If you wanted dual ('hybrid') power sources (AC line and DC off-grid), might it not be better to have your solar (wind, hydro, etc) system operating on completely separated wiring to completely separate lighting and appliances.... Of course, naturally, this would increase the total wiring and work to install it all..... In any case, anything is probably better than leasing solar, where, if your AC line goes down, you still have a power failure, even though your panels could still be collecting energy; if it becomes common practice for leased solar systems to be able to provide optional battery banks and transfer switching, then you could be covered during power failures.
Hi Will, we really need to start talking about pricing in term of $/Wh, then it doesn't matter how many batteries or expansions units or any of it. For me, if a unit cost more then $1 per Wh i stay away for it.
12000xp next! I have one now, and I just want an approval, I already expect a full positive review, but If you want to open one up and show us how they did things right, damn I wont ever return it unless it fails : ) So far mine isnt hooked up for safety wiring reasons. I want everything safe and solid. Moving up from a 6kw growatt inverter, so a bit more to deal with. Thanks. I am doing all my research to do everything I want to do right, safe, and to code. Not back feeding to grid obviously. Thanks for all your great information!
Hi Will, I wonder if there is a workaround for these type of units (Bluetti included) where the input voltages are 150v max. For a decent solar setup 500 or so is more acceptable. Many thanks for all your absolutely brilliant advice. Steve (in the UK)
I have enjoyed your content and will soon be installing a backup power system for my home. I would also like to introduce solar to offset some of my power bill. I am considering using the 2 Pecron E3600lfp unit with expansion batteries. Please review the Pecron E3600LFP I would like to see your opinion on the quality of these products. Thank you for your thoughtful content.
Have you ever thought of doing a small cabinet battery from China I bought one and cannot believe the value 15kw $2000 including taxes delivered to my door in 60 days eve grade a Teze is the brand impress so far
AC does charge and discharge at the same time but you have to have it connected to a 120v plug 🙂 Need to use the Power IN/OUT to get the highest charging 7200w of pure energy. and AC output simultaneously 😀 Hope you review the SHP2!!
@tristated9310 the Power Input/Output plug does allow it. An accessory meant to plug directly into a generator but I plug it into my EV outlet. Works great. 👍🏻
@TheFutureisTheFuture Thank you for the reply. I will see if something has changed, but the literature I saw said you can either charge at 240v ac or discharge 240v ac but not both. So no pass through charging at 240v.
@tristated9310 yes in the AC charging slot that is 120v or 240v... It won't keep the front AC discharge ports on (when you do 240v input). But if you use the Power Input/Output plug it works.
5:40 I noticed you still need to disconnect the unit from the outlet before charging your Tesla. I remember seeing your other video where the unit was damaged due to a grounding issue, and now it only works when disconnected from the outlet. Do you plug your DPU into a surge protector, like a Belkin? Since DPUs are expensive, I assume investing in a good surge protector would help protect it. Have you also noticed that the Online UPS port on your DPU constantly drains the battery, which could shorten its lifespan if used all day, every day? That seems less than ideal. I understand the Backup UPS port also draws some power, likely to keep the inverter running for when the grid goes down. I’d like to use the Online UPS port on mine, but I worry about hitting the 3500-cycle mark in about eight years, which would reduce capacity to 80%. Personally, I prefer to maintain 100% capacity for as long as possible-ideally until I no longer need it. 😅 Plus, I’m not sure I could afford to replace the battery in the not-so-distant future, so I stick to using the Backup UPS ports for now. Do you have any advice on pairing a UPS system with the Backup UPS ports without triggering the wiring fault indicator lights? Apologies for the long comment packed with questions! You seem very knowledgeable, and given EcoFlow’s decision not to send you a unit with bad software (knowing you’d catch the issues), you’re definitely the right person to ask.
I just watched your video on the EcoFlow ultra and I know it was expensive but I like the engineering and design of the product! I was hoping you would have talked more about the software features, it communicates both in Bluetooth and wifi. However Bluetooth only gives you basic info, power in, power out, percentage, temp, volts etc.. The history data it logs can only be accessed on the cloud. If you happened to be at a remote cabin somewhere with no internet is available you cannot see the history. I wish there was some way with Bluetooth to get that data! Found that out when our router bit the dust a few days ago.
Thank you so much for the thorough review. Are there any all in one units like these on the market that can take a custom built or a server rack battery instead of proprietary ones
Oh man, i had no idea the batteries didn't actually lock together.. i had a segway cube, and it locks all the expansion batteries together, so i kinda thought maybe this was similar.. but i don't think anyone in their reviews ever mentioned they just kinda stack but don't lock.. I'll be honest, it looks so cool, but i think i'd need to see the price come down.. i have the delta pro with the expansion battery and that was just over 3k.. and it's been great... i had no idea about the wheels either.. man.. i still think the eg4 server rack setup you did a awhile ago is still a better way to go.
Looks like they’ve added the AC Always On to the Delta Pro 2 now as well. Just checked the app for my one and it’s there under Settings > Lab Features. These aren’t available in Australia yet, so will be interesting to see how it long it takes and if there’s any changes. Were all 240V here for everything, so curious to see
do yourself a favor go to their website and throw one in the cart just for kicks and see what time it will ship for you, it told me shipping will start in September.........Yeah I know September just passed
Ive had good luck with the Delta Pros. I own a couple of them. I bought the Smart Generator 1 when it came out, and it was TERRIBLE. Wouldnt start half the time, LCD bugs out and sw bricks itself, ran so roughly that it vibrated itself across the driveway. Ecoflow did replace it twice before I told them to stop.
I saw your solar hand truck setup a few weeks back. When our check from insurance for Helene damages arrives next week, I'd like to buy one. But I don't have a place in my house to store a hand truck all the time. Is there a "boxier" more compact way to build that setup? That way I can slide it under an unused desk or cabinet? A half height hand truck sort of?
Ecoflow is a trash company. I bought the delta pro with the Smart Generator. Had to replace Generator 5 times in 1 yr. And 3 times with the Delta Pro. They would not give me all my money back. Don't buy from ecoflow.
Five times!!! Holy cow!!! You should post that experience on the forum for all to see
And three times for a pro. Geez!!
I had one of their portable river 2’s and the ups node broke the first month. I agree the company is trash
Just pinned this comment if anybody else wants to share their experience with product failures
Have to agree. I tought they are premium, but my friend got many products from them, battery packs to air conditioner and many of them broke under a year. Price does not match to the quality at all in my opinion. They also have had weird hiccups related to software. No go for me.
I find that hard to believe. If it's somehow true, typically it's the customer who's doing something wrong.

Our cabin runs on an EG4 system with gas generator backup…
Anybody knows a good EG4 alternative in Europe?
You may THINK you are late to the show, but those of us in the “know” were all waiting for YOUR review!!
Thanks, man!
I have the DPU. If you charge it with 120 VAC it does pass through. No need to turn off the 120 outlets.
i was going to say what!?!? from 2:22 thanks
What happens if you charge it with 120 VAC but have a load over 1800W? Does it trip off, or make up the difference with the battery?
I considered a Delta Pro Ultra, but decided to go with a 6000XP and an EG4 indoor wall mount battery instead. Way more solar and battery capacity for less money. I have since added a second wall mount battery so I have more storage capacity. A lot of what I've learned about these have come from your videos! Thanks Will!
That Is what i did .
I can't believe you didn't open up the ecoflow ultra battery. Can you open it up in another video? I really want to see the build quality. 😕
Ok will do. I always donate these power stations to forum members so they still work, but if you guys want to see it I will
@WillProwse I agree. Needs opened for atleast 1. Build quality is a large part of price integrity imo. Thanks Will!
@@WillProwseopen it please
@@WillProwse Will can you open up the inverter as well. I want to know if its using old school FETS for output devices or is it using newer technology IGBTs. IGBTs handle surges so much better than FETS. They are more expensive than FETS but are alot more reliable and well suited for inverter duty. I wish all inverters used these devices instead of numerous FETs. I am curious what output devices EG4, SOL-ARK and Hydrolis use. It would be a big help in the future if you can mention what type output devices FETs or IGBTs are used in your future inverter reviews. Love your videos. Thanks.
They have offered the set with 3 batteries several times this year for $8k at Costco. That cost per watt really isn’t bad at all.
Very nice
I got this thing for $2800 as a price mistake from Home Depot a few months ago. I like how I can power my 220v well pump in a power outtage and keep it topped off with a tiny efficient 120v generator.
And the price keeps coming down and there are now sales and refurbished batteries!
This DPU is what started my search into solar. The search lead me to Will's channel. Will led me to EG4. It's a lot of learning but I'm getting there.
That’s hilarious, exact same thing happened to me. Initially I thought DPU would be perfect…then learned a LOT more and am now building my EG4 system.
How in the world was it that cheap! Haven't seen that low of a price anywhere
That's awesome you're charging an EV! Heck yeah!
@@WillProwseEVs need direct solar input capability! Silly to convert DC to AC then back to DC.
Haha same exact thing I did.. got that home depot deal and also got an extra refurb battery off their ebay store on sale.
@@WillProwse I had a deal alert set for the Delta pro ultra on slickdeals and once I saw the notification pop up I was in and out homedepot buying process in less than a minute haha
There were about 200 units in that campaign, but I’m pretty sure it was a price mistake on behalf of home depot.
Correct
Thank you for clarification
Are you sure that is true? I plug a small 2200 watt inverter generator into this battery and charge through the ac input while the battery powers my house. I think you just can't charge from the house while you power the house because it trips gfci?
ive heard from other channels that if you get the gen cord for the power in/out port you can charge with 240v and the ac out will still work.
The delta2 max isnt setup that way. I have my station pluged in but set to only draw from the grid if power falls below 40% I've been running the inverter and had that kick on when I havent had enough solar and it works just fine.
I have an AC300 in PV priority UPS powering a transfer switch. If I upgraded to DPU, does it have a mode that behaves the same way?
I have the OG Ecoflow Delta. Still works great.
Dittto, it took my refrigerator through hurricane Helene just fine.
Somehow mine just died

I LOVE the DPU. Pricey but it was worth it during Hurricane Milton!!
Look for the sales on the Delta Pro Ultra batteries and inverter. I just bought batteries on sale for $1,500, and they occasionally offer factory-refurbished batteries with a warranty!
You do such a good job Will reviewing these units so people can make informed decisions. You are a value to society.
i have the ecoflow ultra with smart home panel 2 and love it. no problems here at all.
I feel like a kid on Christmas morning every time you post a new video. 😂
Would be cool if you could do a DIY build with the same or better specs and compare pricing
Yes I have about 10 videos covering that
Check out my DIY eco flow builds
DPU is now saling for 6kw $4,600 a full 30kw sells for $12,780.00 wehre w need more inofs is the automation can we program the dpu to star automatically if battery gets down to 20% exemple ? the DP3 does it but no luck findong the info on the DPU and yes you’re right Ultra short name would of been better
ive heard from other channels that if you get the gen cord for the power in/out port you can charge with 240v and the ac out will still work.
2 Anker F3800 ... add whatever batteries you like through the dc ports ... use victron solar chargers for the batteries ... done
Would imagine the competition is breathing down ecoflows neck, probably why you got to review the ultra mate!
Will, if you leverage the DPU Generator Adapter that you connect to the Side Input/Output port, you can charge the DPU at up to 7200 watts, while keeping the AC Inverter on! I am configured this way at the moment and works very well!
I just wish that cord was included and not sold separate. imo
Very good point
I don't think I saw you do it, but all the outlet covers slide into the unit, safely out of the way, reducing the risk of them getting snapped off.
I wish this review was more in-depth like all your others. You always do a great job and offer tons of knowledge. Thanks Will
Thank you Will, I have this configuration on my fifth wheel full time living.
I agree
11:00 was exactly what I was thinking.
thanks for the honest feedback about the casters part.
You can also use the pegs for a flat floor mount - you don't have to use the casters.
Can we please get a update on the EP Cube?

Great job as usual!
I love ecoflow! I have the delta 2 pro, planning on going offgrid with this product thr 90kw maxed out version, it should be good for offgrid set up
Save your money. Build your own
Not sure if anyone has made the connection yet but tiny homes, off grid cabins, or standalone shops could use a “portable” system that uses RV type connection, normal solar and gas/propane generator connections.

Hi Will,
I wonder if there is a workaround for these type of units (Bluetti included) where the input voltages are 150v max. For a decent solar setup 500 or so is more acceptable.

AC does charge and discharge at the same time but you have to have it connected to a 120v plug 🙂 Need to use the Power IN/OUT to get the highest charging 7200w of pure energy. and AC output simultaneously 😀
Hope you review the SHP2!!
Lack of 240v pass through charging is a deal breaker for me on this unit. For the price, it should have that feature.
@@TheFutureisTheFuture Yes it does!
Will, I would love if you could do a review with installation on the bluetti ep900, not 800. Ive been having my eye on that one for months
Halo yes! Can we get EcoFlow to license the shield recharging sound effects please?
Looks like they’ve added the AC Always On to the Delta Pro 2 now as well. Just checked the app for my one and it’s there under Settings > Lab Features.
These aren’t available in Australia yet, so will be interesting to see how it long it takes and if there’s any changes. Were all 240V here for everything, so curious to see
Black Friday is coming up. Hopefully they put it on sale.
do yourself a favor go to their website and throw one in the cart just for kicks and see what time it will ship for you, it told me shipping will start in September.........Yeah I know September just passed
I would like to see a comparison to 2× Anker SOLIX F3800 (12kW | 7.68kWh) + Smart Home Power Kit
I watch a lot of RV and Overlanders. They have good luck with Ecoflow and Bluetti.
Excellent review time after time!😊
Pro Ultimate Ultra Supreme. Buy it buy it now.
9:02 yeah I love how ppl think if the pay big money for 5kwh power station and they will have whole home backup for days lol
I have to admit, that’s 2 days for me with conservative useage.
A review and/or comparison to Anker Solix F3800 would be welcomed
Ugh! I checked with my provider (pse&g in NJ). Electricity prices are the same day or night. Oh well, small steps.
For someone that doesn’t have a shelter of sticks and/or bricks , this unit would be great , but the price !
