I would buy a plug-in hybrid truck in a heartbeat. I love my PowerBoost F150, and have been very interested in the RamCharger since it was announced. I'm looking forward to that coming out so you guys can test it.
YESSSSSSS I would sell my '23 Tremor for a plugin Ranger Hybrid. If they build in an inverter and the ability to use that while parked and at camp, it would be fabulous. There is so much possibility for these hybrids offroad to have built in battery packs to make house batteries not required for long trips off grid.
I'd buy one of these plug-in hybrid Rangers if they bring them to the US. It's perfect for light towing up to a couples camper and for commuting all-electric. A great multi-purpose vehicle without range limitations of pure electric vehicles.
Own a 23 Maverick Hybrid Lariat and would 100% upgrade to a plug in Ranger. Love the Mav but want something I can off-road with but don't want to give up the mpgs. A Plug in Ranger would be perfect.
I'm still waiting for some more PHEV's to show up. Our next purchase will be a midsize truck for a smallish trailer, but waiting for a PHEV where we can also do small commutes with it.
It only makes sense. Make it reliable and this will sell. It will also be a great test bed for the bigger trucks. The camping world will be changed with a truck like this.
This is definitely the way to go imo as a midsize truck guy that is interested in EV tech but cant get away with full EV due to travel distances for work and play.
I suppose it would depend on how much the extra running gear affects payload. My use-case already precludes a midsized truck, but I do like the idea of it.
If it stays reasonably priced, just a couple grand over the current ranger, and doesn’t lose too much payload or towing capability. I’m all in. I would love to be able to drive back-and-forth to work on EV and then have gas for longer trips.
I purchased a 24 Nissan Frontier a couple of months ago and if a hybrid midsize pickup truck were available at a reasonable price that's what I'd be driving today regardless of the brand because they are all good trucks!
Yes ford will have hybrids on all their cars and truck if they can be cheaper than Tacoma and keep quality they will get quite big by 2028. Current models with hybrid Maverick F150 Escape Explorer 250 Highly rumored or confirmed Bronco sport Bronco Ranger Expedition Mustang ice
Way better than Rivian. One can actually go and spend a god time camping off grid. This is going to be a seller! There should be a F150 plug in hybrid too.
I’m waiting for a phev pickup to replace my 20 year old f150. It fits with a commute paid for by solar panels but gives the range to tow the boat to the lakes and back on the weekends.
A plug in hybrid pickup with 50 miles of range would be better. We are looking at a Rav4 Prime with 45 miles of electric range, that is enough for our whole commute. We are not pickup people, but the new 4Runner would be a awesome vehicle to make a plug in hybrid. We have had 3 hybrids so far including a Rav4 and a Ford Escape and they are great. It is a good option if you want to tow as pure electrics still have limited range towing.
It would be a great business case for Ford to bring it Stateside. Not only is there demand, but then they would have in available hybrid powertrain in the 3 size classes of trucks for most buyers. Maverick compact, Ranger midsize, and F150 full size hybrids would put Ford ahead of the game and have options for buyers. Bring the hybrid Ranger Stateside and they can call me a buyer
I tow a 20’ travel trailer with a 2015 Frontier with about 110K miles. I am really hoping that something like this phev Ranger is available (and affordable) when it’s time for a replacement.
Australian car expert said small battery = 3500kg unlike BYD 2500kg tow with bigger heavy battery. 6.9kwh on board power. Ford Ranger with 2.3lt doesn't come standard in range you can find it in VW ute. Australia will pay extra tax because its coming from South Africa.
One huge benefit to a plug in hybrid is you can use the trucks battery pack to power your camper trailer. They are switching from generators to battery packs in camper trailers. The problem is battery packs cost a lot and you only use them a few times a year, so having the battery pack in your tow vehicle instead is perfect.
It's too bad they couldn't put just a smidge larger battery to get 50km of range which would make it qualify for full EV rebates in Canada which would let you get about 10K off in some places. That might make it actually reasonably priced.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada if this phev does arrive here im sure the CEO wil make an announcement on social media or the ford website cheers
I hate how big mid sized trucks are now, but I would probably buy one (as long as they don't pull a Maverick and not offer offroad trims with that powertrain) Edit: wait I lied, not a big enough battery
It's great news but battery pack and range are not good. I would have taken more space from the bed to place a bigger battery. PHEV stands out with decent EV only range.
This seems like a much smarter package than the performance oriented Toyota. This Toyota is really only a power booster. This gives real world fuel savings for normal driving conditions and the boost of power when you want it.
I really hope this comes to the U.S. Maybe they could also one day come up with a PHEV F-150. The only gripe I have with this is that instead of the traditional 4x4 system, they would make the same 100hp electric motor (which can be lockable), but use it to replace the front axle. So there would be no more transfer case, driveshafts, etc. So now you're getting all-time All Wheel Drive, plus 200hp in motors which would greatly help acceleration in all-electric mode.
I’m desperate for a smaller truck with a 6 foot bed. If they do an extended cab and longer bed, I would buy one in a heartbeat, even though I am more EV fan.
I wonder if they’ll ever do a plug in version of the the raptor with the 3.0. That trucks already fire imagine if you add some electricity to it lightning ⚡️ 🔥 😂
Hallelujah 🙌🏻!!!!! Your channel has been a huge part of my transformation, God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻. I was owing a loan of $49,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery, Now I'm no longer in debt after I invested $11,000 and got my payout of $230,500 every month…God bless Ms Susan Jane Christy ❤️
After I raised up to 525k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states 🇺🇸🇺🇸and also paid for my son's surgery (Oscar). Glory to God.shalom.
If Ford beats Toyota on 1st to have a PHEV (true) truck, that will be amazing for Ford and sad for Toyota. Also coming out next year is the 4xe Gladiator, which is really the only current PHEV 4x4 truck.
The issue is lack of DC charging, the batteries small EV range as a function of the battery size vs capacity and nowhere to put a bigger battery even with a smaller engine that the battery allows for
I was hoping the Tacoma hybrid would offer much improved fuel efficiency. I was disappointed. If Ford were to only offer a plug in hybrid on the most expensive Ranger trim levels I will be disappointed again.
I guess all I needed to do was buy a truck for this to happen. Unfortunately, I guess it's also coming with their newly patented touch screen advertisements and law enforcement nanny system.
A PHEV Ranger would be high on my list for our next vehicle
I would buy a plug-in hybrid truck in a heartbeat. I love my PowerBoost F150, and have been very interested in the RamCharger since it was announced. I'm looking forward to that coming out so you guys can test it.
Ram is not particularly good with electronics so Id stay away from it for a few years. I wouldn't be a "guinea pig" for Ram.
YESSSSSSS I would sell my '23 Tremor for a plugin Ranger Hybrid. If they build in an inverter and the ability to use that while parked and at camp, it would be fabulous. A plug in hybrid would be my perfect truck!
I'm hoping Ford brings this to the US. The Ranger was already on my consideration list but this would be additional brownie points.
This would be so perfect for camping or working in remote locations
I would love to see a plug-in hybrid truck in the USA similar to that BYD.
I own a 2024 XLT FX4 and would definitely have bought a plug in hybrid version.
You sure you wanna spend 60+k on one??

Now they need to make a ranger with a 6 foot box.
Let’s get crazy give me an 8 ft bed
Would that not undercut the F150? The ranger is supposed to be a mini F150
Own a 23 Maverick Hybrid Lariat and would 100% upgrade to a plug in Ranger. Love the Mav but want something I can off-road with but don't want to give up the mpgs. A Plug in Ranger would be perfect.
Agree with the other commenters. This would be my next purchase. I would hate to see my 2020 Ranger go, but for this, I would sell it.
I'm still waiting for some more PHEV's to show up. Our next purchase will be a midsize truck for a smallish trailer, but waiting for a PHEV where we can also do small commutes with it.
It's probably the only way I would buy my next vehicle.
agree. I'm keeping my current vehicles until I can purchase a PHEV truck for camping.
The Ford Everest world be a huge hit for the North American market
I will absolutely buy that truck. I own a 2020 Ranger that I love, waiting for the PHEV to replace it.
I still can't believe there isn't a plug in hybrid truck of any size here in the US yet.
I know right. I think it is the perfect mix for those who don't want to go full electric.
The RAM charger is almost here. Nice Pentastar V6 and decent sized battery. It's going to cost a boatload though.
Need to test the 2.7 ranger 🤙
Not sure why Ford hasn't made a 2.7 Ecoboost hybrid. The same hybrid application could've been used in both f-150 and Ranger.
@@TPowell12a 2.7 hybrid ranger would be a rocket😂
I'm a bit irritated by an American company not offering it's best options to Americans.
Give me a Tremor version of the hybrid and I'll be happy to buy it, so long as it's cheaper than the Raptor version.
That would be a "trailhunter" Hunter.
Probably not going to happen since the f150 tremor never received the power boost
8:59 those wheels are similar to the 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad
I’d say, the sooner the better! Thanks guys.

I would absolutely buy a Ranger Raptor Plug in Hybrid!!!
I love trucks and love off-grid camping. This truck would be perfect my me. Please bring it to the US soon Ford.
I can definitely see a hybrid bronco. The bigger bed F150 would allow for a bigger battery with a smaller engine giving some space freed up.
Way better than Rivian. One can actually go and spend a god time camping off grid. This is going to be a seller! There should be a F150 plug in hybrid too.
This would be my next truck if it was released in America.
The Jeep Gladiator 4XE should have become available a long time ago.
Ford also should bring the everest here and also give us the option to have it be a phev
I wish! I think Ford is afraid it will steal sales away from Bronco and Explore sales.
I would consider buying this
I would love a Ramcharger or a Ranger Plug in, I just cant afford either, I can barely afford a Colorado
Toaster Test the Ranger Raptor
I’m waiting for a phev pickup to replace my 20 year old f150. It fits with a commute paid for by solar panels but gives the range to tow the boat to the lakes and back on the weekends.
They should put the charging plug inside of the tail light like they used to do in some of the old classic cars for the gas cap.
A plug in hybrid pickup with 50 miles of range would be better. We are looking at a Rav4 Prime with 45 miles of electric range, that is enough for our whole commute. It's a Hybrid so its already a more realistic purchase for many than a straight EV.
PHEV or Standard Hybrid Ranger would finally get me to the dealer (last since 2019).
Yes bring it to USA.
Watching after the Scout announcement so PHEV or EREV, which would be better for towing, etc.

Ford sees space in the Rangers $32-$55k+ price range to slot in an PHEV and push the top end price even higher.
Might be a great overlanding vehicle with the ability to charge teardrop camper power stations
Yes, I would buy it.
So In only electric mode do these actually go through the gears or does it set it to like 1:1
The motor is part of the transmission, after the torque converter, so it’s always in 1:1 mode; this is necessary for regen braking to work correctly.
Now do the Transit! Waiting for the right donor vehicle for van life.
2:53 hmm! how many miles for another $6,000.00? And then power rates never stop going up.
IT HAS BEGUUUUUUN! Who will be next with the plug in hybrid mid sized truck? Toyota, GM, Dodge?
