I was 19 when this came out. I love this movie so much. Danny Elfman's score was amazing. This is my second favorite Danny Elfman score after Sleepy Hollow. My favorite scene is Kim's Ice Dance. That scene and the music for it were so beautiful. Edward Scissorhands has a very special place in my heart for two reasons. For the legendary Vincent Price, who played The Inventor, this was his final film role before he passed away, so I am glad I saw his final film in the theater. The other reason it has a special place in my heart is that Edward Scissorhands is the first movie I ever went with a girl to see; that is a memory I will cherish to my dying day. I love Dianne Wiest and the late Alan Arkin as Kim's parents. Another movie Alan Arkin was in that I love was 1991's The Rocketeer; I saw that in the theater as well. It was a high-flying adventure set in 1938.
21:57 "Did you hear? Did you hear him sir?" I love how oblivious and/or easygoing Alan Arkin is in Edward Scissorhands. Nothing fazes him 😅 RIP to such a great actor. You must see Alan in Little Miss Sunshine and The In-Laws 1979.
This movie has special meaning to me as I was also born with scissorhands. They really get in the way sometimes, but are quite useful in my chosen career as a confetti maker. Have a great xmas.
I used to watch this a lot as a kid during winter holidays/Christmas time so it always evokes a strong feeling and sense of nostalgia for me during snowy winters. The choir voices in the musical score takes me back to those days...
Tim Burton knows how to make good movies. Vincent Price, the inventor, was in a lot of horror movies throughout his career. This was the last movie he was in before he died. He was also " the narrator " in the Michael Jackson " Thriller" music video. Perfect choice.
beatiful love story. An homage to thefrankenstein onster in a way. It has a beatiful cameo by one of the most iconic horror actors, Vincent Price who plays edward creator.
*(Cool World)* staring *Brad Pitt as Detective Frank Harris & Kim Basinger as Holli Would* *(Beetlejuice)* staring *Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice & Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Geena Davis as Barbara Maitland & Alec Baldwin as Adam Maitland*
Maybe she never went to see him again because Edward was thought to be dead. If anyone happened to see her go up to his house they might follow and discover that he is still alive. It could cause a world of trouble for him. So, even though they had feelings for each other, she left him alone to spare him from any outside meddling (since that particular neighborhood was good at sticking their noses where they didn't belong). She cared for him enough to do that.
I remember a stupid criticism in "X Men" about Halle Berry's hair, it wasn't very credible or something, the fact that she could fly must have seemed normal to him.
Avon was one of the original MLMs. The movie was taking jabs at the company and how their reps could often behave, as well as their products, through the Peg character.
Great reaction, so glad you were able to get to this gem. If you have not seen "Groundhog Day" 1993 film, suggest adding to your future watch list. Feb 2nd is nearing.
You have great takes and reactions, please keep doing them! Christmas movie: the best one in my opnion is A Christmas Story from 1982 Non-Christmas: please watch Scott Pilgrim? Both movies are fun I promise
A lot of people have trouble with Diane Wiest's name. It's pronounced like Weest, and she's in a lot of fun films. Lost Boys and Hannah and Her Sisters are, respectively, two of my October and November regulars each year. Footloose, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Parenthood, Little Man Tate, Bullets Over Broadway, and The Birdcage (adaptation of La Cage aux Folles) are all great.
I love Vincent Price. If you haven't seen his horror flicks, they are worth watching! Depp never ceases to amaze with his strange roles. If you haven't seen Tim Burton's 'Frankenweenie' movie, that would be a great movie for next Halloween. All other whimsy aside, why the heck did he think it was a good idea to give Edward his scissor hands? 🤣✂🤚
Saw this opening day at the late great Ziegfeld Theatre in NYC (one of the last movie palaces in the city) and as the lights dimmed I saw 2 people rush to their seats in my row on the opposite end. It was Spike Lee & Halle Berry. Thruout the screening I'd glance to my right to see their reactions. When the film ended I headed to the restroom - as did Spike - - we adjourned to seperate stalls - as we washed our hands in nearby sinks and exited I approached him with a napkin I had for an autograph and said "I'm a big fan of yours Mr. Lee" - he slightly nodded. As we stood awkwardly in the waiting area outside the bathoom a woman out of nowhere came running across and screeching SPIIIIIKE and proceeded to hug the stuffing out of him. He was mortified and as we locked eyes he struggled but reached for the napkin and signed it (!) This is one of Burton's best & Depp's finest hours - Winona is equally sublime as well as Danny Elfman's fantastic score. Dianne Wiest is always sweet in her mom mode and it was a fitting farewell for Vincent Price (who Burton worshipped). Happy Holidays Cam :D xoxo
I am a new subscriber and I hope to see a first time reaction to The Exorcist (1973) and The Omen (1976) and Jaws (1975) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) and The Thing (1982) and Alligator (1980) and Tremors (1990) and Child's Play (1988) and Pumpkinhead (1988) and The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2 Judgement Day (1991) and Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Friday The 13th (1980) and Halloween (1978) and A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) and The Shining (1980) when camila's corner is ready to make first time reactions to all of these amazing movies just for fun as well:).
My favorite movie. Went through a tough time when it came out. Saw it a second time and was so annoyed by a couple near me laughing loudly while taking everything very seriously. Did my heart joy to see you laughing and enjoying it now and being able to appreciate it from a better place.
G'day Camilla , thank you for not being a Horse 🐴 , King Charles Wife who is also Called Camilla I guess was around horsies a bit too long Oh also King Charles Sister Princess Margaret also was around horsies for too long 🐴
Edward´s father (the inventor) was the legendary actor Vincent Price. Master of horror with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

Pretty sure the majority feel exactly like you do about the ending. It breaks all our hearts. Regardless, it's a beautiful story and movie.

The music is magical in this movie. Really sets the tone and atmosphere. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman are such a great pairing.

And with Audrey Hepburn in Wait Until Dark, for a VERY different role lol
@ninja_tony One of his darkest roles, but Alan was always great.

You're not alone. A lot of people who haven't seen it or been told about it judge it as a horror instead of the heartwarming film it is.
I think of it as a reverse horror movie. In other words, the townspeople are the horror.

A metaphor for the plight of the artist. That's the way I've always interpreted it.
*I'm glad in the end you enjoyed it, because you were pointing out plot holes*
(I stay surface level when watching movies)
I remember a stupid criticism in "X Men" about Halle Berry's hair, it wasn't very credible or something, the fact that she could fly must have seemed normal to him.
Edward Scissorhands was filmed in Clearwater Florida
Always a pleasure to watch you, you always bring a light to my day:)

Edward is the perfect uniqueness of an innocent child trapped in a monster(ish) body.

Edward Scissorhands (1990) is one of my favorite Tim Burton movies. I even own it on DVD in both Widescreen (1.85:1) and Full Screen (1.33:1) formats.
That must happen to YOU at barbecues TOO. Everyone trying to feed you their ambrosia salad 😅
