    Yeah its all true, its based on a book written by one of the guys in the show. The character played by Ross had a really really really sad life... especially at the end... as bad as he treated his soldiers, it saved their lives in war... and the soldiers realized that during the war and they wanted to tell him how they appreciated that after the war in veterans meetings but Sobel never went to see them and died alone and very sad. The guy with the machine gun who drank water during the march... that guy carries a 84lbs machine gun with him, which requires a lot more effort than all the other soldiers... he deserves water haha

    In reference to the landings on omaha beach at the start. Yes, this really happened. But a 1000 times worse. Young lady, welcome to the Greatest Generation of our age. Grew up during the Great Depression. Lived through WW1. Then fought in the biggest war known to mankind in WW2. And stopped Hitler from Genocide. This. Is what your Grandfather and Great Grandfather's went through between the ages of 16 to 26. 2500 American Soldiers died on this beach for us. For those of us that get it. This is way your pronouns do not matter.

    If you're a fan of such humor, I highly recommend checking out Rifftrax's Lord of the Rings series. Essentially, it's comedians providing hilarious commentary in the background while the movie plays. What's unique is that Lord of the Rings is one of the few movies where I genuinely enjoy both the original film and the Rifftrax version. The comedians' jokes add a whole new layer of entertainment. One thing that stands out is how my emotional response changes depending on whether I'm watching with or without the commentary. There are scenes where I'd normally get a little choked up, but with the comedians' jokes, I find myself laughing instead. Of course, humor is subjective, and not everyone will appreciate this type of comedy.

    I have a problem with the American born German, Malarkey was taking to. " All true Aryan's " really? He was born in AMERICA. I do not have any compassion for someone who fought for Hitler's Nazi Germany. He's a traitor, it's an act of treason, and he deserves what he gets.

    Great reaction. You're thinking about how many of the men going into D-Day and other operations had never even seen combat yet, but consider this: most of them aren't even completely through puberty yet. The majority of the fighting age men in the ranks are 17-25 years old. Even the company grade officers like Winters aren't over 30, most are around 22-25.

  • @mikealvarez2322

    Camilla, you are very astute in noticing that many of these men suffered some hearing loss. One of my Dad's friends fought in Africa, Italy, and France. He suffered some hearing loss but his had more to do with differentiating various sounds. For example he could here "bee" and "see", but just couldn't tell the difference between the 2 words. This was true for many words in the English language. He was able to tell the difference by the way words are used in a sentence. So if you said, "I was stung by a bee,"he knew that the word was "bee" and not "see." I always found that strange but when I was 10 a lot of things were weird.

      My father suffered hearing loss from a bomb dropped from a German Stuka. He was in Italy with the 3rd Infantry Division. He was on his way back from a meeting his lieutenant.The Division was to cross the Volturno River. On his way back he said he felt something was going to happen. Next thing he remembered was sitting in the ambulance with his rifle between his legs. Someone had reassembled it since he had it disassembled for cleaning

    These episodes follow historical accuracy to the point that you will notice that some of the hand grenades have tape around them. Soldiers did this to prevent the pins from being pulled accidently by getting caught on clothing or brush. Now there were some liberties taken by directors in order to make the stories fit, but these liberties don't take away from actual events. The first men to jump into France were the Pathfinders. Their job was to guide the Paratroopers' transport planes to the proper drop zones. They suffered horrific casualties.

    There are a lot of people that use this film to talk about current events. They use parallels with Covid and mainstream media. They conveniently overlook the story about Valarie's story with Sarah, Christina and Ruth. Which is the origin of the Scarlet Carson. Why this is important? Today, 1/24/25 President Trump signed an order to remove Pride flags from buildings. Think about it. Who was one of the first people the government in this story came after? Valarie, Sarah, Chirstina and especially Ruth. Shame on you for using this movie to further conspiracy theories while at the same time completely ignoring the fact about what happened to Valarie because of whom she loved. At the same time allowing the people around you to support the image of their oppressors. Say her name you f*ing cowards. Take a Scarlet Carson.

    Well you gave an honest reaction then. Some may not like it, but I prefer honesty to bad acting, and I’ve seen a lot of that from some reactors. Most who clicked on this post did so because they love the movie. But not everyone has the same tastes. Authors are advised by their agents and publishers not to change genres as it’s better to brand than build a new audience. And some personalities prefer non-fiction only as fiction feels like a waste of their time when they could be studying something to help with their careers. So, disregard the negative comments that seem cruel and tactless. It’s a poor attempt at manipulation at best, or a sad reflection of immaturity at worst. Do your own thing and stay honest.

    Yeah, this is an outstanding show, this is mainly taken from the book by Stephen Ambrose - Band of Brothers. The majority of the interviews you see during the episodes were done by a lady that I've seen in videos of the 20th Anniversary of the show, which was held at the WWII museum in New Orleans. She had some funny stories to tell about the men. She's pretty good looking so, I think a few of them might have had a little crush on her at the time. All of the men you will see in the interview clips were from Easy Company, some are represented in the show, some are not, but they were all there in real life. Dale Dye, who plays Colonel Sink, was actually in the military. He also ran the actors boot camp to get the actors ready to play the roles they were selected for. The guy that plays Nixon did a video diary of the actors boot camp which you should watch when you finish this. It's pretty damn funny. Also, in real life, Sobel was not well liked by the men, although later, many would admit that his hard training served them well in actual combat. There will be some artistic liberties taken by the show runners in this mini-series. Obviously, time has to be compressed, sometimes they will have a man do something on screen that was done by someone else in real life, mainly because it wouldn't serve the show well to try and have 200 main actors. So, they had to consolidate actions in various places. Also, they do make some mistakes in places. Keep in mind the production of this was done before widespread internet access, it wasn't easy to confirm details of actions. The stories came from the men, as they remembered them, and sometimes, they just made mistakes. But all in all I think they had a deep desire to make the show as accurate as possible.

    31:10 -- RE: "He's like an Energy Sensor, and a Healer..."; A: Both true, we could put other, older words on it. He's empathic by his nature, he's also almost completely innocent of what most of us would call normal human sins. In religious terms, we could say that he's still in a state of grace because he doesn't have original sin. Cosmically speaking, John's innocence keeps him perpetually aware of other dimensions to what we call reality, and that's why we perceive supernatural things about him. But it's all very normal to John.

      That's the bit that anchors me in the humanity of it all. There are some psychopaths who love war and are good at it and there are some men who are good at the mechanics of war and hate it. Winters was, I think, the latter. He was good at it and could handle the guilt of what it required of him but did not take joy from it. He was what military men call a "Sheep Dog". Someone skilled in violence and killing but who does it to protect rather than just for the fun of it.

    19:13 -- RE: "Could John Coffey heal Billy the Kid?"; A: If all other things were equal, *maybe,* but the narrative makes it pretty clear that Coffey senses there's more wrong about Billy than could ever be made right by his touch, and when they do make physical contact, it can only serve to poison and fracture an otherwise beautiful John. John does, however, manage to make things righter by using a convenient middle man.

  • @jamespfp
    @jamespfp 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    16:00 -- RE: "What just happened?"; A: Welcome to the wonderful world of Stephen King's supernatural cosmology. Not to spoil anything from other stories and films, "The Green Mile" and particularly the character of John Coffey is the story which bridges the gap between "The Shawshank Redemption" and stories like "The Shining" or "The Gunslinger". Coffey represents in human form a cosmic force for goodness and healing because, to some extent, there are universal forces for evil all around ruining what cosmic Nature otherwise intends. People like Percy or Billy the Kid are called "Low Men" because they directly or indirectly serve these evil forces.
