Ibanez DE7 tricks

    The Ibanez Delay/Echo DE7 is considered to be one of the best cheap digital delays out there and it's for a just reason - it's f**king insane! This thing is a beast. To be honest, the digital delay side is almost useless because it is damn noisy, but the "echo" side (analog delay emulation) is amazing and that is already worth the price. Just the thought of having an "analog" delay that has a delay time of 2.4 secs is unthinkable. What can you use a delay time of 2.4 secs for? TO DESTROY A PLANET. probably. You have to be in the same room with this thing to experience the subs this thing can pump out. WARNING: The subs can really hurt your guitar speaker. Use at own risk (not kidding).
    1. First of, I have set the pedal to it's short setting to produce a fake reverb sound. Set the feedback to own taste. The more feedback you dial in, the more do the strings feel like rubber bands. They bounce all over the place, soundwise.
    2. Secondly, I've put a fuzz on the regular output and took the direct out from the pedal to another channel on the amp. You either have to have an ABY box or a multi input/ channel amp, or you can put one signal through the FX loop. Either way works. I just wanted to have a clean(-ish) direct sound and a fuzzed out trail.
    3. Just to show the range of the delay time, nothing special really except moby.
    4. Not really a loop, more of how o make a cannon with this and an actually useable, repeatable riff. Set feedback to own desires to make more complex patterns.
    5. Just having fun. When I got this pedal, I played around with this the whole day. Some of my neighbors committed suicide.

    Great confident plectrum attack, really puts across what the D7 is capable of. Enjoyable to watch, listen and learn. Thanks for posting

    Been using mine for 17 years. I never use the digital delay side. Keep them clean , watch out for the switch and try not to drop them. Otherwise, one of the best pedals I've ever bought.

    Can a Boss DD-6 get a similar tone to the "fuzzy bass" you have going at 2 minutes?

    cool pedal and yeah u dont mess much with the digital side since the echo is way more adventurus and fun

    Cloudeater - I'm hoping to use the DE7 as a cheap 'doubler' into a stereo amp - sending the clean signal to one channel and a 20-30ms delay to the second channel. Do you reckon the delay/echo is hi-fi enough to get a decent dual signal?

    • @cloudeater7266
      @cloudeater7266  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      timdonderevo you could probably. at that point you could buy any digital delay, at higher speeds it sounds fine.

    What are the pedals settings at 2 minutes and 16 seconds????

  • @GoldenNuggetRec
    @GoldenNuggetRec 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    as far as the digital delay being too noisy, wouldnt you put it through the dry setting and turn the level down to fix that? honest question as im considering buying one of these. mostly for the weird ass sounds but since you mentioned that issue im curious now

    • @cloudeater7266
      @cloudeater7266  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a hifi digital delay, as perhaps a boss dd 3. The noise issue is only apparent on long delay times. It's a cheap pedal, and for the amount of weirdness you get, I doubt you'll regret your purchase. The dry output is excatly what it says, uneffected. To mix both outputs, you would need a stereo setup or an fx loop. Hope that helped

    • @DaveThomson
      @DaveThomson 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you have an effects loop how do you use both the wet and dry?

    • @cloudeater7266
      @cloudeater7266  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could put the effected signal through the return of the fx loop. That way you can have two parallel signals at once

    During the auto oscillation part, I keep expecting you to go into Fly Like An Eagle lol. Sounds very similar to the space intro!
    Edit: I just went and listened to that intro, it actually sounds nothing like this lol. I don't know why the oscillation reminded me of it. STILL SOUNDS COOL!

    Watched this video, went on ebay, bought one. You should, like, get a commission or something. I'll write Ibanez. But mostly I'm commenting because I dig that nasty fuzz and want to know more. Is it a clone of something? I googled "mufflon fuzz", but couldn't find anything.

    • @cloudeater7266
      @cloudeater7266  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's a fuzz face clone. you can get the same sound out of many fuzz face versions if you put a buffered pedal in front it.

    • @acwarner7911
      @acwarner7911 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cloudeater Interesting. I forgot that buffers can make fuzzes sound weird. Thanks for the reply.

    • @cloudeater7266
      @cloudeater7266  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andrew Warner fuzz faces for the most part are picky about what is in front of them. With a buffer in front, my clone goes into "velcro ripping" territory. A big muff doesn't give a flying fuck about buffers, hope that helped

    • @acwarner7911
      @acwarner7911 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cloudeater Haha "velcro ripping" indeed. It's a fucking fantastic sound. Thanks man!

      +Andrew Warner Dude, check out musikding. de, I got my kit from that site (it's the silicon version) and it's cheap. Even if you're not experienced with electronics, don't worry, this was my first build ever, you have all the walkthroughs on the site included, the online support is great. I highly recommend them.
